Ronald Stein - California Moves to Get Rid of Fossil Fuel, What’s The Problem

Ronald advocates that energy literacy starts with conversations and the knowledge that renewable energy is only intermittent electricity generated from unreliable breezes and sunshine. He argues that wind turbines and solar panels cannot manufacture anything for humanity, while fossil fuels manufacture everything for the 8 billion on this earth.

a few weeks later...

it's been a while since we've last seen the Stein family and I think an update is in order. when we last saw them it was New years Eve, we'd just found out Elowen is immortal, and at least half of Sebastian's family are vampires. in the time that we've been gone a lot has changed for this family. Sebastian finally got all the answers he's been seeking, about who his mother really was, about her family, and about himself.

this post is pretty long and lore heavy so I've written it in a different style and put it under the cut

Sebastian met- more like reunited with- Griffin, his mother's (Rosalie's) best friend. The person who knew all the answers to his questions and was willing to give them. Griffin explained everything to Sebastian, everything his father (Christopher) refused to.

"I grew up with your mother, she was my best friend, my family, hell she even made me your godfather. When I found out your dad wasn't giving you the truth I knew I had to come find you. You deserve to know just what your mother went through."

"As they got closer to your due date...she didn't improve, she knew she had no choice but to try the cure. At this point she knew you were a vampire as well and if the cure did work, she could potentially cure you as well. Only it didn't exactly have the effect she'd hoped for. She was still a vampire and as far as she knew you were too..."

Swans Rattle a Sold-Out Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sunday

Swans – Music Hall – October 1, 2023

The walls of Music Hall of Williamsburg were shaking on Sunday night. As was the floor and the ceiling and the body parts of everyone at the band’s third straight sold-out show at the venue. An opening set from guitarist Norman Westberg established the evening’s energy, solo guitar and effects that seemed to buzz and resonate into every nook of the club’s foundation, eventually finding sweet melodies and enchanting echoes.

A little after 9 p.m., Swans took the stage for their third of three packed shows. Crowded on a stage bathed in a deep red for the night, Michael Gira led the ensemble with the strums of an acoustic guitar. The simplicity of the opening chords soon yielded to complex layering, first Gira’s chanting lyrics, then a shower of cymbal rattling, shrieks of electric guitars, lap steel moans, and hair-raising bass and drum drones. It was a growing intensity that was mirrored by an almost pronounced gentleness running counter in the empty spaces left by the growing wall of sound, the drums reaching a tribal pitch as the whole room trembled in response, rattling parts of my body I’m not sure are supposed to be rattled. This was “The Beggar,” the title track of the newest release from the veteran noise-rockers, a thick sauna of sound, nearly unbearable and yet cleansing.

When I looked at the time again, it was 10 p.m. and I’m not sure how many songs had been played or if I had passed out from the intensity of the noise, but it did feel good. The rest of the night was a taffy-pull of seven or eight more songs, many, like “The Memorious” and “Ebbing,” were off the new record, dark poetry and wild-eyed, room-shaking music. The latter was a personal highlight, a spellbinding intro, Gira’s chanting feeling like a summoning of spirit as he sang, “Gestating — just dreaming / Not breathing” making way to lovely melodic bits even as the chaotic energy grew. In the end, the show was a two-hour-plus endurance test, similar peaks and troughs of dark and light, a massive sound that, despite all the vibration, had no cracks in its foundation. —A. 6 November 1916 

Henry woke up as the sun was rising and heard roosters crowing throughout his hometown since his elder brother Christopher was away fighting in World War One. 

Because his mother's drinking and smoking have gotten worse owing to stress, eight-year-old Henry leaned against the wind and hoped that his brother would return home safely. 

Henry overheard Evelyn, his mother, sobbing. 

She cried out and knelt down. 

"Christopher is dead, Gabriel, Henry's father, exclaimed. "What the fuck happened?" He asked.

He's dead christophers dead! "She cried. 

Gabby's eyes enlarge. "oh god!!! No!!! No, not my son! "He gave her a hug. 

Wide-eyed and in denial, Henry was in shock. His face was dripping with tears. When his younger sister Bonnie began to cry, she was only five years old., 

Although she didn't fully comprehend death, she was aware that Christopher would not be coming back. 

Henry held her while also crying. 

Henry, who was close to Christopher and wished to be a good brother to Bonnie, kept his mouth shut throughout his funeral. 

It was raining as they lowered Henry's brother's casket into the ground, and Henry's mother was in tears. His father comforted her while holding an umbrella. 

Christopher Eugene Stein.

born : March 8, 1897. 

Died : November 3, 1916.  A loving son, brother and brave soul to fight in battle.

Henry was forever crushed by this loss.
