garlean people and hyur share a very recent common ancestor, but it’s far enough back that they should be considered distinct from like a different kind of hyur like midland or highland. They kind of adopted their place name into their “species name”. the fact is they used to be called something else, but both internally rejected the use of anything but a locator and externally so deeply associated themselves with garlemald that any notion of the name is gone. and they weren’t incredibly populous to begin with, so no one had a chance to set something else.

anyways! What’s this thing about

THIS is a small organ that has a hard keratin protrusion and is very loosely connected to the skull. most notably this eye is used for spatial recognition. The external part of it is rumored as being used for distance recognition, being able to sense better how far away something is, but Lucia asserts it doesn’t matter so. It might not matter. But the internal organ is used for proprioception! Very similar to the otolithic organ in your ears! While that will tell you if you’re accelerating or which way you’re moving, the “third eye” addition to the vestibular system tells you which way is down. The heavier calcium deposit on the inside of the organ always orients the brain to where down is and where it is in reference to you and where you’re angled in reference to Down, as long as you’re not shaking your head around like crazy to disorient yourself. If you’ve ever been on a big rollercoaster and closed your eyes the whole time, you’ll notice you can sort of tell when you’re on the loop because of the pull of gravity, but it’s hard to tell exactly where you are on the loop or if you’re tilting. Someone with the Garlean third eye will know exactly where they are in the loop, and also not get dizzy, hardly ever! Even if their ears are sending confused signals to the brain, the more rigid horn organ says no we’re fine we’re standing.

so where did this come from. Not a lot of documentation remains on the subject — some controversial studies claim it evolved for swimming. The new remake one is excellent but just doesn't capture that same level of terrifying cultured menace. The smug evenness and it's DEEP wow yeah. So smooth. High key petrifying I don't know who he is but he did an outstanding job. That bit where he asks cloud to 'give him the pleasure of taking it away?' like the way his voice lilted up in casual question like good GRIEF that was hot.

Anyway I have another hc: sephiroth would have made an EXCELLENT scientist like his parents, he's certainly got the intellect and hunger for knowledge, not to mention his ability to do research for days on end XD. Supernova actually using astrophysics equations is absolutely fantastic and makes me think that's what he'd major in.

By that logic, he'd want to be in rocket town with the rocket, and he'd most definitely want to go to space himself if it was the last thing he did (ha).

Do you think he'd tie his hair back like his mum?

Anyway I imagine if he hadn't been a soldier and instead been free to choose his own path he'd have been right there the whole time being a child genius and getting into fights with cid about who gets to be the pilot (Co pilots. Co pilots is how it's supposed to work with normal planes never mind things that breach the atmosphere).

Like I understand the amount of redemption/fix it fics that have him be a merc with cloud or whatever but I feel we're ignoring the possibilities stemming from the fact this man canonically knows modern astrophysics and that is absolutely not something you can inherit via way of ancient inhuman semi deceased life form.

Why I think the mystery voice at the end talking to Fennec is Asajj-

Because I want it to be.

Like,, who ELSE would it be?? We haven't seen her yet and we know she's going to be in the show. At this point, we're like half way into the season, so we should be getting Asajj soon! And who would know about M-counts (which I'm like 98% sure is Midichlorians Count)? Asajj! She's a Force user, so she'd be aware. And if the Empire is hunting targets with M-Counts, she's probably on the hit list too. Also, also, being a bounty hunter too, I wouldn't be surprised if she knew who Fennec was/is in contact with her! So I'm sure she's going to go looking for the Batch now after getting information from Fennec because she'll probably want to know what the fuck is up!! And then Omega can have yet another mentor :D!!
