Style and celebration. Bright, red, celebration and some mystery. And it is very stylish showcase of some store. To enter such little store – it is already like to be at celebration. So, lots of red color. And I think maybe it is such smooth material if touch it. And also, it is a new year’s ball here. So, thats for sure, it is celebration, red color and something mysterious.

From below, there are huge red gifts. They are so big, that it is idea, as fast as you can to untie this bow and node. And to see what interesting it is inside. So, winter and grey days are ending. It is start to be a bright weather. And when it is such a little dark sky, and bright but dusk, such a bright showcase – it is double time amazing spectacle! Just wow!

Style and gifts. Style and red color. As a beautiful dress. Beautifully decorated showcase.

And even more – such color a dress, it was for miss Sarah Brightman for her album Symphony and tour and photo sessions for record. And somewhere even with such a big red bow and node. Different dresses it was.

A landmark in the history of crime movies and the progenitor of all heist films that followed. John Huston had provided the script for Raoul Walsh's 1940 film version of author W.R. Burnett's outlaw saga High Sierra and, ten years later, he snapped up Burnett's latest crime novel to direct himself. The film had an immediate and lasting impact on crime movies and literature. It subverted the Production Code by making its criminals working professionals with whom audiences empathized. Vivid and note-perfect.

Perhaps the ultimate heist double-cross movie. A quintet of Parisian businessmen go in on a drug deal, but one of them has a daring plan to hijack the loot and run off with a comrade’s wife. A start-to-finish nail-biter co-scripted by the controversial José Giovanni (who also costars) and directed by thriller specialist Jacques Deray (La Piscine, A Bigger Splash). In French with English subtitles

Spent a splendid evening at Symphony Center for “Soundpost: Perception,” a fashion show with classical music beautifully performed by musicians from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. (And without looking at the program I recognized so many pieces—fun fact for those who met me after I turned, like, 15: I was a musician as a kid and was a huge nerd about classical music (among many other things of course).)

Thank you to Chicago Fashion Coalition for inviting me! I brought my mom as my plus one. 😊 And we had the best view of all the action. Kudos also to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Overture Council, the CSO’s young professionals network.

what's happening in Iran came up and my grandfather said "don't mess with ladies' vanity" and doubled down on that as his interpretation of why they want to remove the hijab (the only reason for the protests he sees), and bless them my mom and grandmother immediately were like "wow that is not at all what's happening how do you think basic human freedoms are a matter of vanity" and kept shutting him down

Ya girl just tried to get tickets for Joe hisaishi conducting the CSO in Chicago this June, lemme tell you that the cheapest ticket was 500 and I almost actually went through with it, I talked myself onto the ledge like “once in a lifetime experience, one of the living greats, live 2024 like 2014 me would’ve dreamed of”…

until the “”””service fees””” brought the total to seven hundred and twenty fucking dollars

so that is not a price I could swing and I did not go through with it, and now I am sad. I guess when we complain to each other “concert tix are mad expensive”, we may have to start clarifying how expensive on a sliding scale from “a single night’s stay in a shitty airbnb” to a “wholeass international round trip flight”. If I waited for the man to perform in Japan again I could deadass fly to Japan and it would be cheaper than this
