Now she’s out on bail. But I think this arrest is foolish. If I were JPMorgan, I wouldn’t sue her, and here’s why: Javice sold her company for $175 million. But what did she pay the data scientist who made her entire fake company, filling it with fake activity? $18,000. He didn’t even get healthcare. ***At 1:19 p.m. Thursday, [Loveland, Colorado] PD dispatch received a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the parking lot of the north Walmart location, 250 W. 65th St., according to the release. Police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a 27-year-old man trapped under a 2016 Chevrolet sedan driven by an 83-year-old Loveland woman.

The release added that rescue efforts were “unfortunately unsuccessful” and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. While the man’s identity was not released by the LPD, the department confirmed that he was an employee of the Walmart location and was in the process of returning carts into the store when the crash occurred.

Bob Coleman, the police department’s public information officer, said it is unknown at this time if charges will be filed against the driver.

Tech entrepreneur Bob Lee, who created the mobile payment service Cash App, was stabbed to death in a well-to-do San Francisco neighborhood — in Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s district — on Tuesday morning, authorities and loved ones said.

The 43-year-old dad of two, who formerly served as the chief technology officer of Square, was attacked in the city’s downtown Rincon Hill neighborhood at 2:35 a.m., according to San Francisco police.

Officers arrived to find the victim, later confirmed to be Lee by CBS News, with multiple stab wounds.***

Jake Shields, Lee’s friend, and a mixed martial arts champion, revealed Lee was attacked while he was walking.

19-year-old William Whitworth threatened “to shoot up multiple schools and churches in Colorado Springs, Colorado, according to an affidavit from the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s (DA) Office.” 

Whitworth’s sister called the sheriff’s office to their home, reporting multiple threats Whitworth had allegedly made against schools in the area. Deputy Mike Watters asked Whitworth if he intended to shoot up a school, to which Whitworth nodded his head “yes,” according to the affidavit. Whitworth said Timberview Middle School, which he allegedly attended for fifth, sixth and seventh grade, was one of his “main targets,” but that he also intended to shoot up churches, according to the document.***

Whitworth offered to show Watters his manifesto, but in the process of looking for it police found several notebooks with drawings of desk setups and floor plans, including a drawing of a clock apparently to use as a detonation device, according to the affidavit. The notebook also listed the name of conservative Canadian activist Lauren Southern, calling her “pathetic,” and Donald Trump, whom he called a “con-man.” Police also retrieved a copy of “The Communist Manifesto” as evidence, according to the document.

Florida teen murders

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Two arrests were made after three teenagers were fatally shot and found in various parts of Ocklawaha, a rural Marion County community, last week.

Seventeen-year-old Robert Le'Andrew Robinson and a 12-year-old boy were arrested in connection to the crime and will be charged with first-degree murder, according to Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods. A third suspect who is 16 years old is still on the loose. WESH 2 will not name the younger suspects due to their age.

Woods alleges the group of six teens, including 16-year-old Layla Silvernail, were together in her car when the murders happened. He emphasized, "she was there on her own free will."

“We had out there it was gang-related. We have nothing specific to say that it was a rivalry. However, in some shape or another, each were associated with a gang,” Woods said.***

At some point, the juvenile suspects turned on the three victims in what the sheriff described as a robbery. “These three individuals turned on our victims and murdered them. They fled the scenes and left a lot of evidence in their wake,” Woods said.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of seven men accused of exposing themselves at different public parks.

Daniel Osborn, Ronald Clemens, David Harris, Felix Luna, Scott Downer, Scott Carnathan and Joseph Willems are facing charges for exposure of sexual organ. The men, who range in age from 44 to 80 years old, also received trespass warnings.

Deputies conducted an undercover operation after reports of sexual activity in public spaces. Deputies say they saw each suspect expose himself before beginning a sex act.

AUSTIN, Texas — A jury on Friday found Army Sgt. Daniel Perry guilty of murder for shooting and killing an Air Force veteran three years ago during a Black Lives Matter protest in the city, Perry’s attorney confirmed.

The two-week trial ended after a jury of eight women and four men deliberated for more than 15 hours. They found Perry not guilty on a second charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Perry faces up to life in prison. Judge Cliff Brown as of Friday had not yet scheduled a sentencing hearing.

Perry, 35, was assigned to Fort Hood and had been driving the 70 miles south to Austin to work a second job with a rideshare company when he encountered protesters in the city’s downtown at about 9:51 p.m. on July 25, 2020. Garrett Foster, an Air Force veteran, was among the protesters and legally carrying an AK-47-type assault rifle, according to the Austin Police Department. Perry told police that he saw Foster point the weapon at him, so he fired his own gun five times, killing the 28-year-old Foster. ***

Christian Katan Mansoor, 18, of Macomb Township was darting around in a silver BMW with flashing red and blue lights on Monday, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Around 11 p.m., Mansoor allegedly pulled up behind an off-duty Waterford Township police officer in Rochester Hills. Police said he was allegedly attempting to conduct a traffic stop.***

The off-duty officer said that Mansoor previously passed her, and she was suspicious when he pulled her over. After introducing herself, she asked Mansoor what precinct he worked for and his identification.

According to officials, Mansoor claimed that he was a Detroit police officer with the 12th Precinct, and told the off-duty police officer that he needed to retrieve his identification from his vehicle.

***Casie Bock, a 29-year-old woman who lived in the home, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with accessory to homicide. 

Haskel Leroy Crawford, a 38-year-old man who was already facing homicide charges in nearby Jefferson County in an unrelated case, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Thursday. 

Police originally received a tip on Monday that a 36-year-old man who has been missing since last summer was murdered inside a condo in the Denver suburb of Aurora. The caller stated that the victim was buried in a crawl space. 

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and found the victim entombed in concrete underneath the floor. Outside contractors are working with authorities on excavating the body, which could take through the end of the week. 

Bock told police that Crawford, her ex-boyfriend and the mother of her two children, murdered their neighbor, 36-year-old Karl Beaman, some time last summer, according to an arrest affidavit. *** D.C. police Chief Robert Contee recently observed that the average murder suspect in his jurisdiction has 11 prior arrests. This is evidence that the failure to impose salutary consequences on habitual offenders emboldens them and helps them graduate to worse and more violent crimes.

Crime, not incarceration, is the real enemy of public safety and human flourishing. It is true that incarceration is not appropriate for everyone who breaks the law. But for violent and repeat criminals, it is the only tried and true method of preventing all types of crime, ranging from burglary to mass shootings.

As we noted recently, incarceration is working wonders in El Salvador, where the abrupt mass arrest of more than 60,000 gang members and allies has made the world's most violent country safer than most U.S. cities. The United States doesn't need such a drastic measure, but it does need prosecutors and judges to put more violent and repeat criminals away for long periods of time. Prison systems are not good at rehabilitating people, but they are very good at protecting the public from the vicious behavior of their inmates. In the meantime, by imposing serious consequences, not necessarily incarceration, for less serious crimes, local jurisdictions can break the cycle, curbing the creation and emboldening of the next generation of long-term prison inmates.

Louisville police have identified Connor Sturgeon as the man who opened fire at the Old National Bank on East Main Street Monday morning. 

The 23-year-old worked at the bank, Louisville Interim Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said at a 3 p.m. news briefing.

The first reports of shots fired came in at 8:38 a.m., she said. Sturgeon shot at responding officers.

Florida gets real

Florida Senate Bill 1342, if enacted, would authorize D/P for child rape if the perp was 18 or older and the victim was less than 12.

Rape was a capital crime.  Coker v. Georgia, 433 U.S. 584 (1977) recognized the long historical tradition of rape as a capital crime, but said "with respect to rape of an adult woman, *** a sentence of death is grossly disproportionate and excessive punishment.”  States retained D/P for child rape.

Decades later, J. Anthony Kennedy & four friends said there was a consensus against D/P for child rapists.  Patrick Kennedy forcibly raped his 8 y/o step daughter and inflicted, permanent, painful injuries on her reproductive organs.  Despite Congress   Kennedy v. Louisiana, 554 U. S. 407 (2008)

The mother of a 6-year-old student who shot his first grade teacher in Newport News, Virginia, in January was indicted by a Virginia grand jury on Monday.

Deja Taylor, the mother of the unnamed student, was charged with felony child neglect and a misdemeanor of recklessly leaving a loaded firearm so as to endanger a child, according to Newport News prosecutor Howard Gwynn.***

The firearm legally belonged to Taylor. An attorney for Taylor said both parents were “committed to responsible gun ownership and keeping firearms out of the reach of children.” The attorney said they tried to keep the firearm used in the shooting away from the child, according to the Guardian.

The 6-year-old, who has a severe disability, badly wounded his first grade teacher, 25-year-old Abigail Zwerner, at Richneck Elementary School on Jan. 6. The incident occurred after school administrators were warned that the child possessed a gun and was in a "violent mood" at the school. The boy will not face any criminal charges.

The shooting occurred while Zwerner was sitting at a table. She had gotten into an argument with the student. Zwerner was shot in the hand and chest, and she spent two weeks in a hospital. LOS ANGELES (AP) — “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper Coolio suffered an accidental death from the effects of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine last year, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported Thursday.

The county agency also cited cardiomyopathy, a disease that makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood to the body, as a “significant condition.” Investigators also determined Coolio’s severe asthma and cigarette smoking played a role in his death.

Coolio’s former longtime manager Jarez Posey also confirmed the cause of death Thursday.

Coolio — born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., on Aug. 1, 1963 — died at the Los Angeles home of a friend on Sept. 28, 2022. He was 59.

Coolio won a Grammy for best solo rap performance for “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the 1995 hit from the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film “Dangerous Minds” that sampled Stevie Wonder’s 1976 song “Pastime Paradise.”

A Fremont County District Court judge last week threw out a first-degree murder charge to punish prosecutors for failing to turn over information to defense attorneys — part of what the judge said is a pattern of widespread discovery violations by 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley and her staff.

In a scathing 21-page order, Judge Kaitlin Turner listed 20 cases over the last two years in which prosecutors in Stanley’s office have failed to turn over discovery information to defense attorneys as required by law.

The judge then found a similar violation had occurred in the murder case before her and ordered that the first-degree murder charge against defendant Joseph Tippet be reduced to a second-degree murder charge as a sanction for prosecutors’ misconduct.

Colorado Springs shooter, 19-year-old William Whitworth

*** According to the affidavit, investigators found the manifesto, a dry-erase board with floor plans, and a list of names in a notebook.

Whitworth said the manifesto was four pages long and had "schizophrenic rants" on them. However, the affidavit states when deputies asked if she was schizophrenic, she replied "I hope not."

According to the affidavit, Whitworth was asked how much she knew about school shootings, and she stated, "Too much." When asked what she meant by that, Whitworth stated "There's a page in my manifesto and there's a bunch of mass killers."

On the dry-erase board, investigators noted it looked like a labeled floor plan of a school, with labels identifying the office, bathrooms, classrooms, and the different levels.

In two different notebooks, deputies found more floor plans, a drawing of a clock to use a detonation device stating, "Remove clock intemials and drive a screw into the desired detonation time on the face of the clock, and "Is this what they meant when they said making a mockery of the massacre?"

Whitmore stated she watched a video on YouTube on "how to do it" regarding the picture of a detonator.

Deputies obtained a search warrant of the home and found "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and more books with notes. Written inside one book had written inside, "Ways I want to die," with a list stating murder, burning alive, freezing, and drowning.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- An El Paso County businesswoman convicted of pimping out multiple women over several years will not spend time in jail or prison.

In December 2022, 32-year-old Shirley King was convicted of Pimping, Keeping A Place of Prostitution, Prostitution, and Pandering-Arranging Prostitution.

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced the former owner of Sutra Healing Center to four years of supervised probation. The sentence bans King from practicing hands-on massage therapy or "tantra" treatments for healing purposes during those years.

An informant told investigators that King gave massages out of her business located at the 500 block of Marquette Dr. in El Paso County with “happy endings” or sexual acts, but classified the interactions as “tantra.”***

Prosecutors said King would target women struggling with substance abuse and pimp them out. However, two of King’s former ‘employees’ spoke during sentencing in support of the business owner, arguing that they were not pimping victims.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A former attorney with the Public Defenders Office in Colorado Springs has been suspended from practicing law for 90 days after an investigation into his conduct with a former mistress. 41-year-old Christopher Melichar pleaded guilty to posting a private image for harassment, namely sending sexually explicit videos to his mistress's husband, as a form of revenge.

According to the narrative of the investigation into his conduct, Melichar was involved in a relationship with a married woman in August 2020, during his time as a public defender. The report says he received, took, and threatened to share nude pictures of the woman. The woman claimed she did not consent to the pictures being taken because she was too intoxicated to consent at the time.

After refusing to continue a sexual relationship with him, Melichar sent nude photos and a video depicting her giving him oral sex to the woman's husband. The husband alerted police and Melichar was arrested on misdemeanor charges.

After pleading guilty in May 2021 and being sentenced to 2-years of unsupervised probation in December 2022, Melichar found himself under investigation by the Colorado Attorney Regulation Counsel.***

Melichar's attorney, Adam Yoast, told 13 Investigates he and his former mistress have made amends and are expecting a child together in October. One man was shot dead and three others injured in a “targeted” attack outside a funeral home in Washington, DC, police said.

The shooting erupted just before 12:30 p.m. after mourners had left a service for a murder victim at the Stewart Funeral Home in Northeast Washington.

so i have a full bio written up for cooper , which you can find here — fair warning , it’s a novel because i tend to ramble and cooper has a fairly elaborate history . but below will be my attempt at the cliff notes of his story , though i can almost guarantee it may still get out of hand because i , like jenna marbles , have a too much gene and i can’t control it !!!

cooper was born in bel air , california , and i know you know what that means — the silver spoon was shoved right into his mouth from the get go . mr averton was a well - known and reputable lawyer , so money was far from an issue for the family . the only issue was upholding their reputation and the family legacy .

being the eldest child , cooper was immediately expected to be the one to follow in his father’s footsteps and take control of the firm . except young cooper turned out to be far from lawyer - material . he was sweet , outgoing , and a little weak - willed — and thus , the family disappointment .

long story short , coop was the black sheep of the averton family . he stretched to reach the high expectations of his family , particularly his demanding father — but always seemed to fall short . cue the daddy issues .

following high school graduation , cooper’s parents were pushing him towards college , crossing their fingers that their son would find his way back from his little detour in life . but cooper had a different route in mind for himself — he wanted to pursue his passion for music . this obviously did not sit well with his parents , who couldn’t fathom how their rockstar son would further tarnish their pristine reputation as bel air’s finest . tensions rose in the averton mansion until they finally exploded one night , leaving cooper to pack his bags and leave the place he had called home for eighteen years .

being eighteen , cooper had full access to his trust fund and he booked a one way ticket to new york city , eager to put as much distance as he could between himself and his family . he didn’t want to solely live off of his parents’ money though , so he began busking and bartending to pay for his little apartment .

cooper could have easily bought his way to the top , to the career he dreamt of , but he wanted to earn it , to know that his talent was what pushed him to success . so he played on the streets , in as many bars that would let him , and uploaded his music online until he finally caught the attention of a rising record label .

his career generally follows that of his claim , sir sly , except his first single was released in 2017 . i’ll be working on a general timeline for his career , but he’s been active since 2017 and just released his newest single “ all your love ” !

last year , cooper ended up in rehab after a near - fatal overdose while touring . he went off the grid for three months until returning in the fall a brighter version of himself . it seemed to have done him good , except he eventually fell off the wagon after a few too many nights back in his usual clubs . that’s all on the downlow though , not many know he’s back to using and he’s careful to only be caught with a drink in his hand .

he’s also slowly reconnected with his family since his teens . they still don’t love his lifestyle choices , but there’s still the random phone call every now and then .

** i don’t know where else to weave this in , but his stage name is c.jave — sort of a little alias for him so he wasn’t leaning on the averton name .

personality wise , cooper’s a walking enigma . at first glance , he’s quiet , mysterious , and a little intimidating . his resting “ don’t fuck with me ” face can put most off , and he’s unlikely to make the first move with strangers — unless he has something in his bloodstream .

give him a few drinks ( or pills ) though , and cooper can become the life of the party . he honestly just loves to have fun and enjoy his freedom in nyc . he’s a well - known face at the bars and is often photographed stumbling home to his loft apartment in times square .

his walls are unfortunately let down a little too quickly for his own good though . even though it’s fucked him over in the past , he trusts too easily and wants to believe in the best of everyone . he’s quite charming and sweet so he can easily win over most , but those cold - blooded enough find it easy to take advantage of him and his generosity .

once you earn his trust , cooper while fight tooth and nail for you . he’s fiercely loyal , catch him throwing hands at anyone who tries to mess with his friends .

he’s also a major gentleman . manners were ingrained in him from the start , so he’ll open doors for strangers , text you to make sure you got home safe , and offer help with anything you need .

this isn’t a major thing , but i wanted to include it , but he’s a really great conversationalist . he’s just so curious , so he listens really well , and is so intelligent and well - thought that any conversation can twist into some deep , philosophical exchange if you’re not careful with him .

oh and — his look is current austin : the short , dark brown hair — v elvis of him . he had the original long , blond hair for a good few years but cut it shortly after rehab for a “ fresh start ” or some bullshit .

Warner Archive covers the past, present and future at 2019 Comic-Con International with a trio of entertaining panels slated for the weekend – a Thursday celebration of  Popeye’s 90th Birthday; a Friday revisit to the landmark V: The Original Mini-Series, currently being remastered for Blu-ray; and a spotlight on The Jetsons (for its upcoming newly-remastered-for-Blu-ray release) and the terrific primetime history of Hanna-Barbera.

Currently Reading: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (”read” is a loose term here since I’m using it to torment myself with a YA book as I do every year), The Pride of Chanur by CJ Cherryh, and Secret of the Sirens by Julia Golding (which I read when I was like 13 and liked and now it turns out there’s a series so I’m interested to see where it went). Yes I am reading all of them at once. Yes I will be throwing them all to the side once my copy of Nona the Ninth gets here.

Last Series: Since this doesn’t specify book, movie, or show, I’m going to say I’ve been reading the new X-Men Dawn of X books which are like. Compilations of several series.

Currently Working On: I’m working on last year’s NaNo project which has surpassed 50k works and is now sitting at 142 pages and roughly halfway done. Its called Jay and Isaak Stop the Bomb and its about funny technology magic, nationalism v patriotism when your home country is guilty of So Many War Crimes, the cold war, having a bisexual crisis, and horses that are not what they seem.
