If I had to sum up Until I Get You in just one word, it would have to be intense because everything about this one has an intensity about it. From the tone to the characters to the storyline, it's intense. I would strongly suggest heeding the content warnings included in the book because things do get dark. There is a bit of suspense that follows the characters from the beginning, and it had me hooked and hanging on every word waiting for the reveal. Part of that includes a couple of scenes that were pretty hard to hear - I did listen to this one, and to be honest, I'm not really sure which format would've been harder to get through on those parts. I can usually imagine it so much darker than it comes across in audio, but Kasha Kensington pulls out all the stops. The emotion of those scenes comes through in her voice and tone, and she had my heart pounding.Even the romance has that intensity about it. Lachlan's feelings for Lyla are right there on the line of obsession, and I'd even go so far as to say he crossed that line a few times. At the same time, I couldn't stop rooting for this couple. Without giving too much away, I'll explain it by referencing the cover. That smoke you see on the cover is perfect for this relationship because where there's smoke, there's fire, and Lyla and Lachlan are hot enough to set the curtains on fire!Kasha Kensington is joined by Joe Arden, who wowed me as he always does. This was my first time listening to Kensington, and after hearing the whole thing, I can't imagine anyone else as Lyla. Of course, Joe Arden's sexy voice was perfect for Lachlan, and he perfectly captured that intensity I've been talking about. I'll stop there before I give away the book's secrets, and there are a fair few to discover. So, to sum it up, the combination of Claire Contreras's writing and Joe Arden and Kasha Kensington's narration is a thing of beauty. Somehow Contreras has escaped my notice until this book, but I plan to remedy that immediately. Until then, I highly recommend Until I Get You for readers of dark romance.

I dipped myself in this book completely blind; and let me tell you that this book has its own essence, this is my first book with this kind of plot, and I couldn’t be more happy to find such a great series with Claire Contreras! SYNOPSIS

The list of things I hate is short. Not even my soon-to-be ex-husband is on that list. Nope. I save only the worst of the worst, the crème de la crème, the absolute I cannot even for this list . . . 1. Black coffee 2. Rude people 3. Nathaniel Bradley Which is why when my father informs me that he’s making Nathaniel Bradley his new business partner, and in turn, my boss, I flip out.  1. He’s an annoying know-it-all.  2. He calls me a spoiled princess every chance he gets.  3. He disapproves of everything I do. I go into this knowing I’ll hate every second in his presence. Except the longer he’s around, the more I find myself staring at his lips and remembering the one time they were on mine. I randomly find myself looking at his hands and wondering how they’d feel on my skin.  I try to snap out of it, but I guess I’m not as smart as I thought I was. No matter how many times I remind myself of the times I’ve practically thrown myself at him and he’s pushed me away, I keep falling little by little. I’d always heard that it was a bad idea to mix business with pleasure and if that’s the case, this thing with Nathaniel has demise written all over it. 

REVIEW

You really can’t go wrong with Enemies to Lovers trope. This is one of my favorite tropes and I love to read more books in this genre. Yep, Nathaniel and Presley can’t really stand each other. They met back when Presley’s in High School. Presley is a privileged young lady. She had everything she ever wanted while Nathaniel had to work his butt off to be successful. Presley’s dad hired Nathaniel as his assistant and their story started when Presley accused Nathaniel to be a kidnapper.

Interesting, right? It definitely started right. I enjoyed their quirky banters, the sexual tension between the two. I loved it most when they really can’t resist their feelings for each other. It was perfect. The characters are also awesome. Nathaniel and Presley were from different worlds and yet they complement each other. They are just perfect.

This is not my favorite Claire Contreras book but I still recommend this to all Claire Contreras, slow-burning office romance and Enemies to Lovers fans out there.

And lemme cut you off because the next paragraphs contain spoilers.

Though I love how the book started and how it progressed, I hated how Nathaniel reacted when Presley’s dad died. I understand that Nathaniel was hurt when his boss and his partner died. He owed him a lot after all.

I completely understand why he was… frustrated. BUT HE WAS PRESLEY’S FATHER. He was her DAD. She was hurt. She’s broken and she lost the most important man of her life and yet instead of being there for her, Nathaniel pushed her away and that just suck.

So there you go. This book is already out. You might want to check it out.
