I was debating about putting Mason and Abigail on this poll, but they didn't actually kill anyone this season, so they're out. Also, Hannibal killed Abel in this season, though that was shown in season 3. Just might want to take that into account.

who's the best hannibal side character and why is it peter bernardone. i've never been so interested in a hannibal side character EVER. he's so perfectly cast too i can't think of anyone who would've been better for the role also sorry if this is sloppy i am gaming while writing this out

the writing in this show in general is really good but i feel like peter really shows the depth of how well these people can write??? like dude he is SO fucking awesome.

will and peter are so awesome to me, they both know what it's like to be in one anothers shoes, to point at a killer and not be believed and be manipulated by those close to them

ingram attempted (and failed) to manipulate peter, he tried to convince peter that he was a killer and a bad person but peter stood strong against him, being able to recognise ingrams manipulativeness and not fall victim to it. hannibal attempted to manipulate will (sort of succeeded?) and will acknowledged it and fell in love with the "ugly" part of hannibal

peter pointed at ingram, knowing he was a killer and will pointed at hannibal. neither of them were listened to so will did what he wished someone would've done for him and he listened to peter

i think the only place where will and peter really differ is how they choose to interpret the ugliness in the other person? peter is able to distance himself from it, he doesn't take comfort in his madness and he doesn't let ingram get to his head. will pushes himself closer to hannibal after deeming him 'interesting' and he embraces the bad in hannibal. he can't hate hannibal for it like peter hates ingram.

will let himself be built up by hannibal, he let himself be used as a weapon and a muse for hannibals insanity. peter was able to hate ingram and didn't let ingram build him up into the killer ingram wanted him to be (or the killer ingram claimed he was). he states that ingram helped him get over hurting people, but he never embraced that fact properly like will does with hannibal. he strays away from it and the only thing he does to hurt anybody is when he attempts to 'suffocate' ingram like ingram did to his victims. he wanted ingram to "experience the destiny that he created."

also just a little thought, i think it's mentioned that the reason peter put a bird in sarahs chest then into the horse is because he was mourning her because he was incapable of saving her but. birds symbolise a LOT poetically. ravens/crows act as symbolism for death or mourning and birds spiritually usually symbolise freedom and new beginnings (rebirth in sarahs instance, maybe afterlife). crows also stray away from elegance when mentioned in poetry (which will said peter wanted to bring to her death) so maybe he put it there to symbolise the brutality of the act against her? they also symbolise things like fertility, bravery and nobility

Bram Stoker's Hannibal Chapters 74, 75, and 76

I DID IT.

We have, at last, reached THE MOMENT we've all been waiting for.

This moment:

I wrote all the way up to this moment and then slowly edited and released chapters just to make sure I covered everything I wanted to cover. Normally I just write a chapter, edit it, post it, move on. But I wanted to be extra careful that I didn't miss anything I wanted to include.

Chapter 74:

It's a Bottom Hanni chapter! Now, I know the top/bottom debate is always a thing, but I'm a firm believer in Bryan's designation that they switch. Normally I prefer to write bottom Will, but I also fully believe that Hannibal is a hedonist and would do anything that feels good, like getting railed by his mongoose. Also fun fact, being a vampire means you don't have to do much prep for anal because you don't eat food, and the immortal body can withstand plenty of abuse. So we do have some steamy bottom Hanni action in this chapter, as Will seems to search his lover's body for any evidence of... what exactly?

Oh hey little known fact: Lenore from the brothel? It's Molly Shannon's character, the woman who collected "Lost Boys." Now she collects lost sex workers to make her perfect family of high-class courtesans. I didn't delve too much into this side story because hey, news flash, THIS FIC IS REALLY FUCKING LONG. Anyway, Jack Van Crawford asks everyone to continue to help him in his mysterious quest, which is about to take an even darker turn. They're headed back to the graveyard to prove once and for all to everyone involved that Alana is UnDead. Meanwhile, Hannibal and his wolf pack murder the zookeeper at the London Zoological gardens, who happens to be the Clark Ingram character. I didn't make him a serial killer in this AU, just a guy who likes to torture animals. I've always seen him as the anti-Peter Bernadone, who cares so deeply for every life large and small. So I thought it made sense to cast this motherfucker as the kind of guy who would beat caged wolves on the head with a wooden pole to make them compliant.

Seriously, fuck this guy.

Fun behind the scenes facts: The London Zoological Gardens were established as a place for the scientific study of animals, and to move the menagerie of creatures out of the Tower of London where they'd been kept since the 1100s. The Tower of London is haunted by the ghost of a bear that had been kept there.
