Fitness

Kat is out this weekend so I'll be taking on that time slot currently labeled sword fitness! Kat's final class of the year (last weekend) was a fantastic review of small work outs you can do any time.

My goal for this session is to give people space for guided practice, think of it as personal trainer time... but with swords! It's going to be a fun class, I promise!

Skills

Last weekend we discussed BAITING, an action that invites an opponent to strike us, and, having successfully fooled them, allows us to take advantage of their decision.

This week we're going review Baiting and begin to explore FAKING, makes use of actions which threatens an opponent, causing them to react.

Since this week is our final class of the year — I want to leave plenty of open floor time to field questions, or work on something you feel like you want to practice.

Planning for 22/11/18

My mood board for People & Objects class this week. I aim to find materials to change the atmosphere and mood of normal studio portraiture. 

Plastic, tissue paper and natural objects such as leaves and branches/sticks will allow me to recreate interesting portraiture.

Speaking: Ss will be able to accurately use future prepositions: before/by/when and the future perfect and will be able to produce written and spoken examples of these. . Intermediate Students. Class should take one hour. Brainstorm examples of modern technology, eg. nano surgeons, cars that drive themselves, holographic conferences, a second earth. In pairs, students make three predictions about the social, economic and personal consequences of such inventions. Students look at the text below about the future, they put the words in bold into star diagrams using these headings: work, leisure and social life, health, other. Teleworking and computer conferencing will mean that a lot more people will either work freelance from home, or on flexible, short-term contracts. Highly skilled professionals will be under pressure to work longer hours, while much of the mundane work will be done by machines, leading to high unemployment amongstunskilled workers. With inventions like cell phones and hand-held computers, it will be more difficult to escape from work – it will become more difficult to ‘get away from it all.’ Already the average American is working 163 hours a year more than thirty years ago. Labor saving devices and the resulting sedentary lifestyle will lead to an epidemic in obesity. A growth of on-line shopping and working at home may mean that our city centers will become deserted. The resulting lack of social interaction could lead to depression and widespread mental health problems. One thing I am continually working on, perfecting, is the way that I set up and clean up before and after each art session, particularly with kids. Being prepared is totally key, as is having out tools and materials that both inspire work/play while at the same time providing limits. I don't offer every single method in a single hour. Instead, i plan ahead two or three options for the day. If the child is not focused or the tools aren't "catching" I talk to them and provide some ideas on different ways to use what is provided.
