CALIFORNIA!! if you’re planning on voting for claudia de la cruz and karina garcia this 2024, they’re going to be running under the peace and freedom party. if you want to vote for them in the primaries, you’ll have to register under the peace and freedom party before february 5. they posted a video about it on their instagram here.
in my state, you can change your party very easily online, as long as you have your address and social security number on hand. not sure if it’s the same case for california, but i would try that first

Thinking about all the times my elders have told me stories about struggling to make their start in the last century. When they talked about being poor the most common thing you heard was ‘we ate nothing but beans.’ I used to be impressed with that grindset but it just occurred to me… weren’t they eating beans… in a house? Or at least an affordable apartment? And then of course after 2-5 years their bean diet paid off and they got to be comfortably lower middle class for the next 5 decades. They probably even got promoted, which is a thing that doesn’t happen anymore because companies have realized it’s cheaper to treat their workers like disposable machine parts. I’ve been working for a decade—taking on as much work as people will give me—and I’m making the same wage I made almost 10 years ago. After 2 years I had to spend a little more on my diet because cheap food was making me sick. After 5 years housing became totally unaffordable. It doesn’t matter how hard I work—nobody who’ll hire me can or will pay me a livable wage. If I hadn’t lucked in to work-camper jobs I’d’ve been on the street. If I didn’t do freelance work after hours I’d have zero savings. “But AHA! You have pets!” Most of the old guys doing this 40-50 years ago had one job, a non-working spouse, and kids, but go on, tell me that after 10 years of working—of being a goddamn exemplary college educated worker a thousand times over—I should be lucky to still live alone in a rented room and have nothing but beans.
A full time job should pay enough to afford a living. Rent extortion of the working class has to be curtailed. This country has the wealth and resources to support us all, it’s just being hoarded.

Nessie, what are your thoughts on Joe Biden VS Donald Trump, as well as the 2024 election as a whole?
I’ve said this a thousand times before, but choosing between Biden and Trump is like choosing whether to microwave a baby or bake it in the oven. I voted for Biden the first time but only because the alternative was Donald fucking Trump. I was told he was “the lesser of two evils” and I’m sure he probably still is, but I can’t excuse his involvement in the Palestinian genocide so I won’t be voting for him a second time. The two party system has failed us yet again, which is why I’m voting socialist in this election instead. I know Claudia and Karina won’t win but I simply refuse to vote for either major candidate, and this way we can hopefully help to normalize voting 3rd party so that one day a 3rd party candidate might have a legitimate chance of winning a major election.
We’ve been alternating between microwaving babies and baking them in the oven for hundreds of years. Everyone thinks that “oh, maybe the microwave won’t kill the baby this time,” and to be fair, sometimes it doesn’t, but they all still seem to think that we need to pick one or the other because that’s the way we’ve always done it. Nobody’s listening to the few people standing in the corner who are suggesting maybe we SHOULDN’T still be cooking the baby or even have been cooking it in the first place, as was intended by the baby’s creators. Literally all it takes is enough people realizing this, and eventually we can stop cooking babies altogether (yes, I know that in reality some of them are basically advocating for deep frying the baby but ignore them, I’m talking about the ones who don’t want to cook it at all).
Allow me to frame it another way: when you get shot, putting pressure on the wound is the best thing to do in that moment, but you can only put pressure on it for so long. You’ll live longer by packing the wound with gauze than if you did nothing, but it’s a very stressful and strained existence. However, if you don’t do anything about it you’ll still bleed out, just more slowly.
On the other hand, you can try to remove the bullet so that you can stitch up the wound. You’ll bleed a lot more in that moment and it’s way harder to stitch up a wound than it is keep changing the bandage, but ultimately you’ll heal. You’re going to have to do it eventually, so you might as well do it before you lose even more blood and before things get even worse. It’s not the quicker or easier option by any means, but it’s the one that leads to the best possible outcome.
Edit: I’ve heard it all before, I promise there’s nothing some stranger on the internet can say that will change my mind. I’m sorry if that upsets you but it’s my constitutional right to vote for who I want

Vote Claudia & Karina 2024
Image description: a collection of screenshots from the campaign page for Claudia de la Cruz and Karina Garcia, presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 U.S. election. Their platform is centered on the tenet, "End capitalism before it ends us," but also has an intersectional focus on topics such as: the war on Black America; climate change; unmanaged artificial intelligence; overinflated military budgets; women's and queer rights, and more. The post ends with a link to the campaign website, http://votesocialist2024.com. End ID.

Have you checked out Jasmine Sherman and Brittany Jones? They’re both third parties and honestly I checked some of their policies out and it looks very promising. Between them and Claudia De La Cruz I feel hopeful about possible candidates. I just hope one of them wins and are actually able to do what they say they want. Because I know the senate and the house would push them back as hard as possible.
I haven’t gotten the chance to, but I’d love to learn more about them as well! How I see it is that they would likely pass a bar-age of executive orders aimed at helping the working class and likely bypassing congress the same way the Biden administration bypassed congress to send aid to israel (twice). Then they would likey begin dismantling the establishment from the inside and reforming the government to be a more representative democracy for the People. Definitely read Socialist Reconstruction by the PSL, it outlines what Socialism could look like for its first 10 years in America. I definitely have hope in either of them but especially Claudia and Karina 💪😁

I know I’m just a fanfic blog and maybe this is a controversial opinion (spoilers: I don’t fucking care) but if you don’t want to vote for Biden or trump then fucking vote third party????
Claudia and Karina are a duo running for pres/vice pres, and they are the ONLY CANDIDATES IN 2024 CALLING FOR A CEASEFIRE IN GAZA. THEY HAVE BEEN AT THE MARCHES. THEY HAVE BEEN WITH THE FUCKING PEOPLE THAT THEY SUPPORT. THEY ARE ALSO CALLING FOR AN END TO CAPITALISM ‘BEFORE IT ENDS US.’
I’m so fucking tired of seeing doom and gloom posts about how ‘well we gotta vote for one of the senile genocidal fucks’ or ‘don’t vote at all!’ Because why the fUCK would we do that???? THERE ARE SO MANY OF US WHO ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM THAT WE ACTUALLY COULD VOTE THIRD PARTY AND HAVE A VICTORIOUS CANDIDATE.
The power is with the people not the people in power. We have the opportunity to change things this year. Don’t fucking dare pretend you are powerless or that you have to vote for “the lesser of two evils” because if you think that trump will end the genocide in Gaza you’re fucking delusional.
Obviously do your own research and don’t just take my word for it, but Claudia and Karina are actually for the people and for peace. We have an opportunity to make a change, and if you squander that opportunity because you are unwilling to do the research or unwilling to make it to the polls (you can vote via mail so don’t give me that excuse) you are part of the problem.

i cant even put it into words how optomistic i am feeling after that meeting, but i cant wait to attend the next one

tw: suicide
living in america is literally hell. i have little hope for the future. im beginning to realize that my mental illnesses aren’t just in my head, my nervous system is responding appropriately to it’s environment. not only are we fucking up the planet and every marginalized group in the world just to make the rich richer, it’s so fucking depressing knowing that i’ll probably never be able to afford a house and that i’ll likely live paycheck to paycheck working my ass off until i die. needless to say, death has become an option. but i’ve been convincing myself to keep going by devoting myself to fighting for change, i’ve got to put this hopelessness and rage somewhere, so im putting all of it into my activism just so that it doesn’t consume me. because if i don’t either make change or die trying, what’s the point of staying alive?

Me: —no my issue with the whole system is that I CAN'T PHYSICALLY WORK HARD ENOUGH OR LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE A LIVING
Rich Uncle: Well—
Me: Meanwhile Bezos is buying his seventh mansion!
Rich Uncle: HE EARNED THAT.
Me: Oh yeah?! What did he do to earn it?
Rich Uncle: He worked all his life!
Me: SO HAVE I! And I'm saying I can't even work hard enough to afford rent on a shack! So why can HE work hard enough to afford multiple mansions!? It's because he's exploited the labor of everyone working for him.
Rich Uncle: No no no no it's because he worked smarter.
Me: oooOOOoh, so intelligence is the key factor in being deserving of massive wealth. That explains why Elon Musk is one of the dumbest people on the planet.
Rich Uncle: He's... smart.
Me: pfffffffffffff hahahahaahaaaahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAA
Rich Uncle: He made good business decisions, anyway.
Me: So in order to make it I just have to do what Elon Musk did.
Rich Uncle: exactly.
Me: So first I've gotta figure out how to get adopted by a guy with an emerald mine.
Rich Uncle: Yep. *walks away*

Just unfollowed someone I looked up to for a shit take on “democrats vs republicans”… if you still think its worth it to fight red vs blue know that neither party gives a shit about the unhoused and starving, queer people, bipoc and non-white people, climate change, differently abled and disabled people, mental health, the prison system, or free healthcare. What has Biden fucking done in four years besides make promises and walk them all back? One party is not “better than the other” its a system designed to make people fight each other rather than the people at the top… Ever heard of the Ratchet Effect?

I have no idea why I’m not seeing anything about this anywhere, but I’m wanting this video to really blow up. At least show people there’s more than 2 options nobody really wants. The working class can work together and allow for a viable third option. I really think this is possible this election!! Everyone’s pissed!
