Until now - this - them, Oliver’s appreciation of poetry leaned more towards the philosophical, however Neruda’s words escape unbidden as he brushes a sweat-damp curl from Elio’s forehead.

True darkness has fallen outside, but the moonlight pouring through the shutters bathes his face in shadows, leaving it reminiscent of the Praxiteles sculpture they’d salvaged just days prior. A ridiculous notion - and one he would normally scoff at - yet Oliver’s been circling the absurd since the moment Elio fell asleep in his arms, stunned by the realization he doesn’t know himself at all. 

How could he? When he’s neverfelt this way before?

Not in his previous relationships. 

Not after sex.

Never. 

It’s a defence mechanism, of sorts. The meticulous compartmentalisation that keeps his emotions in check. Yet that level-headedness - his ability to close himself off - has always served him well. Kept him on an even-keel throughout school and his career, alike. 

So perhaps it’s better this way: the silent understanding between them.

The things left unsaid.

But right now? 

In a villa in Northern Italy? 

Oh, he’s falling to pieces. 

Overwhelmed to be holding the man who’s stolen his heart along with his name.

The man who’s more Oliver than Oliver himself. 

And it’s… 

Fuck, it’s -

“I’d give you the world if I could. Steal you away to New York. Have you with me forever.” 

There’s something achingly vulnerable in the gentle rise and fall of Elio’s chest, so Oliver flattens his palm over the hallowed cathedral of his ribs, fighting down the swell of emotion that threatens to choke him. 

“Everything…” he breathes, vision prickling when Elio’s fingers dig into his forearm, clinging on just as tight even in his dreams. “I’d keep you safe. Make you happy…”

A foot twitches against his calf.  

“So very happy, Elio…”

An unintelligible murmur reaches his ears. 

“I’d worship you,” he continues, sliding a hand up the length of his spine, tracing each dip and ridge until he’s once more resting peacefully. “Because I can’t get enough of you.” A beat. “Because I love you,” he confesses, voice shaking with conviction.

A quiet sigh is his only response, and Oliver presses a kiss to Elio’s temple in order to hide the tell-tale quiver of his lips.

The words, he knows, are wholly inadequate for the depth of longing contained within. 

This isn’t love. 

It’s so much more. 

But the truth is a bitter pill to swallow, and if three broken syllables are all he has to offer he repeats them verbatim, already bracing for the coal-black storm clouds that gather up ahead.

“Oliver!” It escapes on a gasp: a barely-there whimper, as Elio finds himself hoisted experimentally against his bedroom wall. “Cazzo… you feel…”

“Good?” Oliver grunts, buried to the hilt.

It takes him by surprise - though heaven knows it shouldn’t - and Elio lets loose a sound of raw longing at the egregious understatement. “Good. Sì. Good…” 

The scent of arousal is thick in the air; a haze of desire settling in his core. It’s intoxicating, so Elio buries his face in the corded muscles of Oliver’s neck, chapped lips following the bob of his Adam’s apple as his beading erection paints slick trails over their heaving stomachs. 

They’ve never done it like this: broad palms supporting his weight where they’re busy squeezing his ass. Lighting him up with pleasure inside. Oliver’s panting - damn near groaning with every stroke - and Elio crosses his ankles at the small of his back, left with little choice but to hang on for the ride.

Literally, he thinks, clamping his star of David between his teeth to muffle the tell-tale sounds of pleasure.

Oliver’s own proof of brotherhood reflects the midday sun, and eyes wide, he throws his head back. Shifts his feet to better his stance. Holds Elio in place at the tip of his cock until he’s squirming in his arms. His smirk is slow-born. Smug and infuriating. But when he finally relents - sliding him glacier-slow onto the solid length inside him - Elio’s retaliatory clench has him barking a helpless laugh. 

“Brat.”

“Two can play that game, Americano.”

“Maybe so.” Oliver shoots him a look of pure determination. “But I’m playing to win.”

Which is all the warning Elio gets before the urgency catches up with them once more. 

The angle is slightly awkward. Not to mention precarious. There’s a glistening sheen of sweat covering his skin - Oliver’s, too, for that matter - and the slight breeze from the French windows sends a shiver along his spine. How they’re managing this he doesn’t know. Doesn’t care, either. Not when Oliver wraps a hand around half his ribcage, thumb dancing over his nipple in maddening circles. 

“You’re close aren’t you?” 

Elio nods mindlessly, balls drawn tight in preparation. “Oliver…” he breathes, the name emerging like a prayer. And then, because he’s not above playing dirty: “Elio… Elio… Elio…”

His amante’s knees almost buckle when he plants a bristly kiss to his temple. “Oliver…” he chokes out, and the almost-sob that escapes his throat has tears clogging Elio’s own. Burning his eyelids. Fogging his vision of the dream-come-true before him. “My Oliver…”

“Mon amour…”

“Yes,” the other man agrees, every inch of him shaking as he spills his release. “Yes. That. Yours.” 

It’s damn near Pavlovian, and the burst of warmth - coupled with the look on Oliver’s face - sends Elio hurtling into orgasm right after, giggles escaping unbidden when they inevitably topple southwards in a boneless tangle of limbs.

- This is a prompt-based challenge. You can interpret the prompts / themes any way you like. Just make sure the prompt is in there in some way, shape or form. Your work must include at least one prompt from this year’s bingo cards.

- There is no minimum word count for fics, and all forms of art are welcome.

- The AO3 Collection will open on the 1st of June, and it will close on the 15th of August. All works posted to the AO3 collection will be shared on the Tumblr page. If you do not have an AO3 account, then your story can not be added to the collection. If you still want to take part in the challenge, and you choose to post your story on another platform, then feel free to send me a link so your story can be shared on this Tumblr page and added it to the masterlist.

- Works for this challenge have to be completed by the 15th of August. You are free to write a chaptered story, but make sure to have all the chapters posted by the end of the challenge. Stories that are not completed when the collection is closed will be disqualified from the challenge.

- Works for this challenge have to be new. Even if you have an old work that fits the theme, please create something new for it. The goal of this challenge is to get creative and create new content, so let’s create as many new works as possible.

- Any rating or theme is allowed for the challenge. But please make sure to put up the correct tags, and to add a warning if your story contains things like MCD, Violence, Non-Con etc.

- Prompts for CMBYN Bingo 2023 may be combined with prompts for the CMBYN Drabble Challenge, or with prompts for other challenges, but please make sure to check with the mods for those other challenges / fests as well!
