So many times in my career I wish someone would have told me the real truth. I have, of course, had wonderful mentors and coaches throughout the years, but no one really broke down the unspoken rules, the real facts about ascending in your career and leadership.
I recently participated on a Phoenix Business Journal leadership panel and was asked to offer advise for the emerging leaders in the audience, and while I already had this column in mind before the event, it helped validate a notion I’ve been mulling over for awhile: Young professionals hunger for insight and feedback on how to advance or level-up in their careers.
That in mind, I would like to share five perhaps controversial leadership lessons every aspiring professional should know, taken from my personal experience and through conversations with a diverse set of leaders nationwide.
Your actual job (and No. 1 priority) should be making your manager’s job easier Individuals who are quickly promoted understand that if they make their manager look good, they will themselves reap the benefits. Now, this isn’t a nod to participate in anything superficial or borderline abusive but rather encouragement to anticipate the needs of your boss and company and deliver accordingly. Deeply understanding the overall roadmap no matter what your position in the company will give you a mindset to drive outcomes even if they don’t seem directly tied to you, allowing you to be open to the concept of being fiercely committed to moving your boss’ agenda forward.
You are going to receive many requests from your supervisor to do something that may seem like a waste of time, but they are asking for a reason. Understand that reason and then do it well. Think about things before your manager does, and if you figure things out with their minimal input, you can free up time for them to go farther, faster. And so will you. That’s true leadership. If there’s one thing to remember, it’s this: if your manager doesn’t feel like you are adding value and directly helping them achieve company goals and initiatives, you are eventually mapping out your own exit plan.

To: [email protected] Message to the Staff:
No one is permitted to perform surgical operations on Exotics while we are under the Mass Casualty protocol. The resources needed to operate on one Exotic could have been used to operate on up to 10-15 human patients. Please redirect any Exotic needing medical services elsewhere.
- Saint Francis Medical Center Administration
-----------------------
From: [email protected] To: [email protected], [email protected] Re: Message to the Staff
To Administration,
Hello. I am Euridice Ariston, and yes, I am the one who operated on the Exotic less than a week ago. I apologize for using the small window of internet time we have to express my concerns.
I cannot in good conscience enforce the new policy. You are right that we have to properly ration our resources, but to do that on the basis of a person’s identity and not on the severity of their injuries is no longer proper triage. Please reconsider the new policy.
Best,
Euridice
-----------------------
From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Re:Re: Message to the Staff
To Dr. Euridice Ariston,
The administration commends your, if somewhat misguided, sympathy for the Exotics. However, as we have mentioned earlier, the amount of resources it takes to operate on one Exotic could’ve been used in the operation of 10-15 normal people. The cost-to-benefit ratio simply isn’t present to treat an Exotic during these times. You should be more concerned about the ones you actually serve.
The Exotics can take care of themselves.
The new policy stands.
- Dr. Zachariah Smith, Chief Medical Officer
-----------------------
From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff To Administration and Dr. Zachariah Smith,
The people I serve are those who arrive to this field hospital in need of help. I refuse to deny a patient care on the basis of their identity.
You say that it is a resource problem, then if I am able to acquire resources from outside of the hospital system, would you relax the policy then?
Best,
Euridice
-----------------------
From: [email protected]  To:  [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff To Resident Euridice,
First of all, if you procure resources outside the hospital system but bring them to use in this hospital, those resources will be used according to the hospital’s guidelines.
Second of all, you are on thin ice with your sham of a surgery. What you did there could have you easily accused you of malpractice and barred from practicing medicine in this nation.
Using a bone cutter in place of a scalpel, using almost nine times the anesthesia on a single patient, recklessly putting people at risk of contracting a highly dangerous disease? Just any one of these could have your license to practice revoked, all of them together could have you imprisoned for years to come.
Do your job, or you won’t be able to work anywhere as a doctor ever again.
This is your last warning.
- Dr. Zachariah Smith, Chief Medical Officer.
-----------------------
From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff
Alright.
I know when I’m beat.
I will follow the policy. And I will instruct the others to do as well.
I will turn down every Exotic that comes by.
And when they ask why, I will be sure to say that this is the new hospital policy -
As dictated by our CMO - Dr. Zachariah Smith.
I’ll leave now to tell the others. See you tomorrow for the next scheduled contact.
- Euridice Ariston, MD-PhD.
-----------------------
From: [email protected]  To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff
You can’t do that. That policy was not just made by me. All of administration agreed on it!
- Dr. Zachariah Smith, Chief Medical Officer
-----------------------
From: [email protected]  To:  [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], ...(2 more) Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff
My apologies. I didn’t mean to single you out. I will make sure to instruct everyone to state that the policy is made by:
Elaine Mauburn, President of SFMC. Peter Forrest, Vice President of SFMC. Chen Yu Fang, Chief Executive Officer. James Tallow, Chief Financial Officer. Dr. Zachariah Smith, Chief Medical Officer.
Thank you for the clarification.
- Euridice Ariston, MD-PhD
-----------------------
From: [email protected] To:  [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]... (2 more) Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff
What you’re doing is a crime, Euridice Ariston.
You are knowingly putting people in danger for no reason whatsoever.
The stated policy is fair and equitable for the situation the city is in, and any jury of your peers will say so too. Should I hear one person mention any of our names in reference to the policy, Saint Francis Medical Center will hold you responsible and sue you for reckless endangerment.
- Elaine Mauburn, President of Saint Francis Medical Center
-----------------------
From: [email protected] To:  [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], ...(2 more) Cc: [email protected] Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re: Message to the Staff
Oh, so you are perfectly aware that this policy puts whoever is enforcing it in danger. You just don’t care so long as the people in the line of fire aren’t you.
I could make the argument that you are purposefully putting all of us in danger - hospital staff willing to brave being at ground zero - because you want to discriminate against Exotics.
Willing to pass a discriminatory policy but not willing to leave your name on it.
I’m sure that’ll look good in the media when we actually have television signal or proper cable internet again.
You have until the end of the scheduled internet time to come to a decision.
You can either rescind the policy and everything continues on as normal with medicine properly being practiced.
Or we can keep it. And I will make sure to instruct everyone to say all your names whenever we reject a patient, lest this policy places a target on our own backs.
I look forward to hearing your decision.
- Euridice Ariston, MD-PhD

People looking for placements in pharmaceutical jobs must search for Hyderabad
Tumblr media
It is comprised of companies that develop and manufacture innovative drugs and generic pharmaceuticals, as well as over-the-counter drug products. The sector is made up of a number of sub-sectors that service different market segments. These include brand-name pharmaceuticals, generic pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceutical small and medium-sized enterprises (biopharmaceutical SMEs), contract research organizations (CROs), and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs). The pharmaceutical industry has its roots in the apothecaries and pharmacies that offered traditional remedies as far back as the Middle Ages, offering a hit-and-miss range of treatments based on centuries of folk wisdom. Merck in Germany was possibly the earliest company to move in this direction. Originating as a pharmacy founded in Darmstadt in 1668, in 1827 Heinrich Emanuel Mark began its transformation into an industrial and scientific concern producing and selling alkaloids. But the industry as we understand it today really has its origins in the second half of the 19th century.
Pharmaceuticals have been used to treat illnesses for thousands of years. The early days of medication included plants and herbal remedies to treat a variety of diseases and traumas. Today, the long and complex journey to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of a compound and bring it from the laboratory into the hands of patients in need, is a multi-billion-dollar global industry. Pharmaceuticals have contributed to improvements in life expectancy and quality of life of many patients. Medicines can cure, relieve symptoms, delay the onset of disease and prevent complications. The monetary atmosphere impacts the pharmaceutical business, however beneficial organizations result in more assessable income for the U.S. Individuals may censure this measure of benefit from one organization, yet consider this: The basic objective of each and every business is to profit. Pressurized canned products are simple and advantageous to apply and can be managed without the assistance of others. The onset of activity is speedier contrasted with other measurements frames on the grounds that the medicament is straightforwardly connected to the influenced region/part. Airborne structure can stay away from disintegration or inactivation of medication by the pH or enzymatic activity of the stomach or digestive tract furthermore can evade the principal pass digestion system. A particular measure of dosage or medication can be expelled from the compartment without pollution of outstanding substance. Plan of vaporized and keeping up valve control, the physical structure and the molecule size of the discharged item might be controlled, which may give adequacy of a medication. Pharma Recruitment Agency in Hyderabad provides recruitment supports.
Pharmacy as a career option has gained much importance over the last few years, especially during the covid-19 pandemic. Pharmaceuticals science is a broad and dynamic field that deals with the discovery, development and manufacture of drugs and related products. Pharmacists fill prescriptions in retail pharmacies or pharmacies attached to hospitals and clinics. They also dispense over-the-counter medications after evaluating a patient’s needs. Other pharmacy career options include working for pharmaceutical companies, food and drink companies, research organizations, and laboratories. With the exponential growth of the Pharmaceutical Industry in India, the requirement for pharmaceutical graduates has increased manifolds. To pursue a career in the Pharmaceutical sector, there are two major undergraduate-level courses in India. One is B. Pharmacy, and the other one is D. Pharmacy. During these four years course from top B. Pharmacy Colleges, students get acquainted with different types of pharmaceutical drugs, surgical instruments, human anatomy and physiology and the effects of certain drugs on the human body. A pharmacy clerk has a variety of responsibilities, including filling prescriptions for customers, completing cash register transactions and updating patient information records. A pharmacist has in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical products and their appropriate use. They assess and fill medication prescriptions for patients and if necessary may discuss medicinal alternatives with doctors and other medical professionals. They are one of the Top Pharma Recruitment Agency in Hyderabad.
The pharmaceutical industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world today. There is tremendous progress being made in pharmaceutical science in terms of cutting-edge research, advanced treatments and modern medicines. Currently, the pharmaceutical industry in India is valued at 50 billion US dollars. The pharmaceutical industry in India is expected to reach 65 billion US dollars by 2024 and 130 billion US dollars by 2030. The students who want to be in the healthcare sector yet do not want to get into the medical field have the option of taking up Pharmacy as an undergraduate program. It is an industry-oriented program and this is the reason why most of the top pharmacy colleges in India are able to easily offer jobs to students. Best Pharma Recruitment Agency in Hyderabad provides support in many sectors. You’re at least 10 years along in your desired profession, considered an expert in your field, won awards and garnered praise from your cohorts, grown your career accepting new positions and challenges along the way. Now it’s time to take the next step to the VP ranks or C-Suite and seek out elite, exhilarating executive jobs.
As we all know, not all paths are direct, often they meander. But there are a few proven steps you can take to land those illusive executive jobs with great pay and benefits. Consider the following:
Establish your personal brand, narrative Do this now, before you start looking for your ideal executive positions. This is a multi-layered dynamic that entails both your professional experience and personal passions, volunteer work, family life. It’s a balancing act that combines your leadership and executive skills with warmth and compassion for the world around you.
Ask yourself a few key questions: – How would I describe my career path or arch as a 30-second elevator pitch? – How would I tell a longer version with personal anecdotes sprinkled in – birth of your first child, continuing education, milestones, etc.? – How do I give back to my community? How does it align with my career? – How can I combine all of these elements in an executive bio? How does that read?

Tropetember Day 8 - 5+1 / 3+1
You're in my sickbay again...
Pairing: Leonard McCoy x GN!Reader
Fandom: Star Trek (I was writing it as AOS but pretty sure it works for TOS as well if that's your jam)
Rating: Teen and up
TW: Mentions of torture, mention of injuries
AN: Day 8 of @tropetember. Not a massively in depth fic, more like snapshots of situations that occur through the relationship.
3 times Dr McCoy didn't want to see you in his medbay and 1 time he did
Find this story on Ao3 here.
Word Count: 1.3k
1
While you hadn’t been expecting to be beamed directly into the quarantine suite in the Medbay of the USS Enterprise, after three months working with Captain James T for Trouble Kirk, it wasn’t totally surprising either.
Kirk had been invited to a celebration feast in a system you were exploring, but had only been allowed to bring one guest. As Chief Security Officer or CSO, you had been volunteered for the position.
You had done everything you could to keep the Captain away from anything questionable. Sadly, conversations with him usually went something along the lines of:
“Jim, no”
“Jim, yes”.
It was something you regularly discussed in your sessions with the ship's newly appointed counsellor.
Since quarantine procedures were only instigated when the transporter detected an anomaly in the crew members being transported, and assuming it was due to Jim, you just sigh to yourself and shake your head.
“I told you to watch him closely!”
The southern drawl didn’t soften the accusation, even deadened as it was by the plexiglass divider that separated Quarantine from the rest of the medbay.
“I did! I don’t understa…”
You trail off as you have a sudden realisation and groan.
“I found him with his tongue down the Princess’s throat.”
Dr McCoy gives a long suffering sigh.
“I’ll have to run tests on both of you. The transporter team couldn’t definitively tell if you both have it.” He pauses and looks you up and down. “I expected better of you Lieutenant Commander”
“Yeah, cos you’re so much better at this than I am. It was Orion herpes last time, wasn’t it?”
The CMO just smirks and tells you to stop pointing fingers before sauntering off towards the storage cupboard. You respond by flipping him off. And you maybe watch his ass a little.
Turning to the Captain, who has been uncharacteristically silent until this point, you channel your inner McCoy.
“Goddamnit Jim!”
Jim decides that you and Bones are spending too much time together.
2
When Scotty had called to warn Dr McCoy of an incoming victim of an explosion in engineering, he had not expected it to be you.
“You’re in my sickbay again sweetheart.”
He uses a sing-song tone that he doesn’t employ with the rest of the crew. Nurse Chapel, who is at the other side of the bed, takes note to check in with the Captain as to the state of the betting pool. She believes she may have lost.
You nod in response to the doctor’s enquiry. You’re in far too much pain to think of anything more complex than that in response.
“What were you even doing in Engineering?” he grumbles to himself, moving around in the space to grab hypos, bandages, burn salve and a dermal regenerator. “You’re almost as bad as Jim and Spock.”
You try to focus on him but you’re struggling to stay conscious. It’s not aided by the painkillers he dumps into your system.
McCoy gently moves you to be laying on the bed. He’s concerned at the extent of the damage done and the nerve trauma to your arm. To ease your pain, he hits you with a sedative and you’re out like a light.
-------
You groan as you come back to consciousness, the light of the medbay hurting your eyes.
“Welcome back darlin’” you hear.
Smiling despite yourself, you squint in Leonard’s direction.
“I was helping with the repairs on the lower decks. I assumed it was safer than an away mission. Apparently I was wrong.”
Surprised laughter bubbles from the grumpy doctor as he agrees.
“Well, get yourself rested up. I’m serious this time. I don’t want to see you back in my medbay.”
“Sure” you agree, both of you knowing it won’t last for long. Occupational hazard. “Dinner and a movie on Saturday if the mean Doctor lets me go?”
3
It made a change for a mission to go wrong due to something Spock did but in a culture that valued feelings as much more important than logic, it was not that surprising.
Most of the crew had made a successful escape but yourself and Dr McCoy had been taken hostage during the initial skirmish. You’d been thrown in a cell together and that had been that.
Or at least, so you’d thought.
You’d been dragged from the cell, questioned and beaten in front of McCoy in an attempt to find out details of the Enterprise and it’s crew. You hadn’t broken, but by the time you’d been rescued, you definitely had at least a couple of broken ribs, a black eye and various assorted cuts and bruises.
Len was quiet as he helped to repair your injuries. Where you were black and blue, his torture had been psychological. He couldn’t get your screams out of your head.
Noticing his distracted state you grasps his jaw gently, disguising the wince it bring when it pulls a little, and raise his eyes to yours.
“This isn’t your fault.”
His eyes dart away but you stay firm.
“I am trained for this, Len. I’d do it again to protect you. But you’re going to need to let the guilt go.”
He sighs heavily.
“I’ll try.” He pauses to run the regen unit over your upper arm. “You’ll need to do me a favour though.”
“Anything.”
“Go on a date with me?”
Mr Spock had been on his way to apologise for the consequences of his actions but is distracted by the fact that he has won the betting pool. He better inform the Captain and come back later.
1
You’re still not sure how it happened. As CSO, your main responsibility was the Captain and when things went wrong, his safety was paramount. You couldn’t check on everyone else. You just had to trust that your team was doing their job.
You hadn’t even realised Len had been hit until you landed on the transporter pad.
There had been so much blood.
Now, you were pacing outside the OR. It had been hours since the beam out when finally M’Benga pops his head out.
“He’ll be ok. He won’t be working for a few weeks but he’ll be ok.”
Your knees give out from under you and you land heavily on the chair behind you. Tears of relief escape without your permission and you drop your head into your hands.
M’Benga gives your shoulder a squeeze, letting you know where Len is being moved to and giving you permission to stay with him, before heading off to finish cleaning himself up.
You take a deep breath and approach Len’s bed. His larger than life presence is softened in sleep and you can’t help but notice how fragile he looks.
Taking his hand, you place a kiss on his knuckles and then rest your head against the mattress. After nearly 36hrs awake, you’re out like a light
-----
You wake to the feeling of fingers running through your hair which you automatically nuzzle into. It’s nice. Comforting.
It takes longer than you’d ever admit to orient yourself, but when you do, you raise yourself and meet Len’s eyes. He has a soft smile on his face that you can’t help but mirror.
“Sorry for dropping in, I know you didn’t want to see me in your medbay.” It’s a cheeky comment but it widens his smile into a grin. You pat yourself on the back for lightening the atmosphere.
“I’ll let you off this time.” His voice is a bit scratchy from lack of use but it sounds like the finest music to your ears. How could you have been so close to never hearing it again? He continues, “care to join me for dinner? I’m afraid there’s only jello.”
You laugh at the silly grump of a man in the hospital bed. Your best friend. Your favourite person. The love of your life.
“I’d love to.”

Chapter One
As some of you know, I lost my job. At one point I felt like I was never going to find another one because I was scared which caused me to think of the worst scenarios.  You know how that goes, but about a month later, I found a job as an executive assistant supporting the COO of a staffing agency.  I also support the CMO.  We specialize in placement of physicians, advanced practitioners, and mental health staffing for hospitals, clinics and virtual care.  So far I like it.  It’s an industry that I’ve never worked in before.  The best part?  I have my own office!  First time ever in my career.  It even has a window.
My cousin that passed away last November was a twin.  Not too long after she died, her twin was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She opted to have her breasts removed, but soon thereafter the doctors found that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.  She has been undergoing chemo treatment.
Spattie, my 14 year old cat is in stage 4 of kidney disease.  His vitals are doing fine, but he’s lost a ton of weight.  His appetite is good.  I can tell though that he’s growing weaker. He needs help in getting to certain places, specifically like jumping on the couch or on the bed.  He’s holding his own and I am keeping a watchful eye on him.
My birthday just passed as did my daughter’s and granddaughter’s.  We’re April babies.  My daughter took us to see Broadway’s Wicked and before that she took us to a French restaurant, Brasserie du Monde, where I wanted to have some bouillabaisse, but they serve the dish seasonally and tis not the season, much to my disappointment.  Instead I had the Bœuf Bourguignon, which is a burgundy style short rib, served with roasted root vegetables, creamy Polenta, gremolata.  It was very good.  It was my first experience in a French restaurant and I hope not my last.
As a parent, sometimes I forget my kid isn’t a kid, but as a grandma my brain refuses to see the fact that my 12 year old granddaughter is no longer 4 years old.  Just a couple of weeks ago I bought them a new electric toothbrush and as I handed it to them, they slightly paused – I almost missed it.  It was then that I realized that I shouldn’t have bought them a Disney Princess electric toothbrush.  They’re a sweet kid and didn’t say anything but, “Thank you, bachan.”  I gave myself an eye-roll.  Smooth one, Karen.
You know the Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez thing?  I have to admit that I love them together.  Maybe the 2nd time around will be a charm.
So this year, I turned 61, but for the longest time I thought I was going to be 62 and I was really excited about it because it meant that I was closer to retirement.  And then while I was at lunch with my cousin, it hit me.  “Oh.  Wait a second.  I’m just 61!  WTH!”  My cousin laughed.  I guess I’m glad I’m 61 instead of 62.  Honestly, maybe when I’m 81 instead of 82 I’ll care, but now 62 seems like a good number to me!
Guess what? I cut my hair shorter.  I got rid of the Prince Valiant look.  It’s somewhat of an improvement although my hair is still long enough to bug me.  I am going to get a hack job, maybe a buzz cut.  I’m kidding! But seriously...
Btw, this is my farmer shirt...you know, gingham and such...har, har.
Tumblr media
Anyway.
So things that haven’t changed since I last posted:
I like to sleep in because I’m still not a morning person, although I wish that I was.
I read a lot.
Oh yeah and I read a lot.
Oh no! I just realized I’m still pretty boring.

Cherik angst!
Ooooh the angst!! The cherik fandom has an abundance of angst fics and I could probably make a list of hundred fics to recommend, but these are some of my favourite angsty cherik fics. I should warn you though, some of these require tissues.
Cherik Angst
Everyday Love in Stockholm – tahariel
Summary: Magneto is the ruler of the posthuman world.
His only secret? Charles Xavier, the human he's kept locked in his bedroom ever since his right-hand woman, Mystique, came to him pleading for mercy for her stepbrother, who accepted her mutant form and protected her as a child. The human he started fucking after Mystique was killed in battle, despite the guilt he feels at contaminating even this last promise to the woman who was integral to his life's work and happiness.
Boden’s Mate – kaydeefalls
Summary: "Shaw has information that we need, and we need him alive to extract it," Moira says, and there it is: the job is on the table. Extraction.
XMFC/Inception fusion AU. Erik is an extractor, Alex is his point man. They're assembling a team to go after the most dangerous mind in dreamsharing: Sebastian Shaw. But unless Alex and the team can keep him in check, Erik's desire for vengeance might just rip the whole job apart around them -- and then there's the shade that haunts his dreams...
Ritual Self-Torture – TurtleTotem
Summary: Shaw is King, Charles is his royal consort and Erik is a Knight/Lord. Shaw is sterile but his kingdom can't find out, so he asks Erik to impregnate Charles.
He doesn't know Erik and Charles are in love.
The Winter of Banked Fires – Yahtzee
Summary: Charles Xavier has returned from the dead -- but is lost within his own mind. Rogue has cast aside her own power and doesn't know where she fits in the world any longer. The production of synthetic Cure means mutantkind itself is newly at risk. And Magneto, turned human against his will, is in despair until the day he feels a familiar consciousness tugging at his own
Us – Pangea
Summary: “Charles,” Erik says, and if his voice hits a pleading note then who can really blame him, “Charles, it’s me.”
It takes several longer moments before Charles musters up the strength to answer, breath stuttering horribly as he tries to breathe. He’s shaking, entire body trembling.
“Erik,” Charles says, his voice cracking, “Erik, I want to die.”
Enigma – Yahtzee
Summary: Erik dies, or finds a reversey-time mutant, or a magical time travelling device, and wakes up in the past. This time, though, it's before he ever met Charles - in fact, it's before his mother died.
He can save his mother that one time (thanks to his mastery over powers carrying back), but what does Erik do after that? Does he stick around, or escape and run to find Charles again (and hope everything doesn't go wrong)?
By Faint Indirections – kianspo
Summary: Erik is in his ~50s, and lonely and bitter. He survived the Holocaust and was only ~14 when the war ended; and even ~40 years later, living in a country that helped to end WW2 and the Third Reich, homosexuality is still a taboo topic. Then one day, he stumbles over Charles, who is young(early 20s) and bright and smart and cheeky and full of energy and beautiful. And moving in the same street where Erik lives.
Lonesome on the Shelf – ikeracity
Summary: After three years of marriage, Charles has to admit that his relationship with Erik has significantly cooled off. These days, they're barely ever home at the same time and it seems like every conversation they have turns into an argument. Charles misses the way they used to be, misses the spontaneous dinner parties and the surprise morning sex and the wake up calls in the early mornings to catch the sunrise. But it's going to take two of them to fix this marriage, and some days, it seems as if all Erik wants is to be rid of him.
A fic about rekindling marriage.
When the Spell Breaks – kianspo
Summary: Erik, a high-profile lawyer with a successful career, meets a 21-year-old grad student in a bar, and within a few short months marries him. He and Charles are blissfully happy, until Erik's boss runs a background check on Charles and discovers he's been cheating on Erik. Charles denies everything, as there was no affair, but Erik doesn't believe him and throws him out. As Charles tries to figure out how to survive and stay at school that he can no longer afford and makes a lot of bad if not plain dangerous choices, Erik has to fight his own battle of discovering the truth and winning Charles back.
The Tower and the Hurricane – dreamlittleyo
Summary:(Post-movie AU.) Five years after Shaw's death, Erik's predictions prove painfully accurate. Violence rages on both sides of the human/mutant conflict. In a world ravaged by war, it doesn't really matter who's more at fault. Charles struggles to teach his students a better way, but what choices will he make when peace really isn't an option?
The Attempt – Yahtzee
Summary: Charles knows everything about Erik, knows how obsessive and self-destructive he is, how Erik would do anything, give anything, in his quest for vengeance against Shaw. But he also knows that Erik loves him in ways that aren't exactly platonic.
I'd like to see a completely straight!Charles, out of pure love and care of Erik, initiate a romantic relationship with him. It can be because he wishes to give Erik something positive in his life or because he thinks it might help change Erik's mind about Shaw, the reason is up to author. Also, while Charles finds intimacy with Erik strange and awkward, he does enjoy the new, non-romantic layers that have developed in their relationship.
Apple Seeds – pprfaith
Summary: Charles, Erik, apple seeds and Shakespearean love affairs.
Ashes, Ashes – winterhill
Summary: Post-apocalyptic AU — When the bombs fall, and mutually assured destruction occurs, it turns out that Shaw was right and radiation does enhance mutant powers. Snapshots of the XMFC main ensemble in the time after the bombs: Erik decides to stay, Moira thinks she might be the only human left, Raven is having trouble sleeping, and Charles is losing his mind.
Warnings: nuclear holocaust: death (death in general, not a specific character), cancer, burns, medical procedure, mutant powers gone awry
Five Bullet Points – Sperare
Summary: It was supposed to be Erik locked away in a prison one hundred stories below the ground.
Charles was never supposed to be there with him.
Tequila on a spaceship – faerie_ground
Summary: In 2014, Charles Xavier gets brutally murdered and Erik Lehnsherr spends the rest of his life mourning his death.
In 3014, Captain Lehnsherr and CMO Dr Xavier are colleagues, best friends and maybe a little more besides that aboard the Magneto I.
The Tower and the Hurricane – dreamlittleyo
Summary: Post-movie AU.) Five years after Shaw's death, Erik's predictions prove painfully accurate. Violence rages on both sides of the human/mutant conflict. In a world ravaged by war, it doesn't really matter who's more at fault. Charles struggles to teach his students a better way, but what choices will he make when peace really isn't an option?
Simple and Uncomplicated – Pookaseraph
Summary: Erik and Charles had been fuck buddies for some, but when Charles is in an accident he figured their relationship would be over. Erik's visit to his bedside in the hospital changes his assumptions even as he has trouble believing Erik is sincere.
Lazarus – Clocks
Summary: Erik is 19 when he says ‘I love you’ for the first time.
It would take five long years before Charles says it back.
Broken Eternity – CractasticDispatches
Sumnmary: It starts with being alone. It shouldn’t, perhaps, but it does because, of course, alone is what no one ever wishes to be.
Shout it Out Loud – dreamlittleyo
Summary: (Movie-Concurrent AU.) When Charles forges a telepathic link between himself and Erik, the two men find themselves bound together by more than just destiny. With the world on the brink of war, Charles and Erik struggle to cope with a psychic connection that may well be permanent.
Call Me By His Name – sinuous_curve
Summary: Charles wakes from the absence of noise.
There is an empty space in his room, beside his bed. Not quiet as in an abandoned room, but utterly, featurelessly blank. Like a box made of unblemished, impenetrable metal and Charles knows before he opens his eyes.
The Longest Word – septicwheelbarrow
Summary: "I'm Charles Xavier," he says, smiling from ear to ear. Then he gestures to his wheelchair. "Terminal spinal osteoblastoma, reaper due to collect in a year."
After some time, the man gestures at himself with a sardonic smile. "Same, one year. Lung." And then, reluctant, as if trying to keep his name to himself, "Erik."
I reject your reality and substitute my own. Doesn't really work that way, both ways.
Copy – chantefable
Summary: Charles wakes up without his memory. His sole caretaker, Erik, claims to be his husband, and tells him he's recovering from a car accident on their honeymoon.
Slowly falling for Erik again, Charles begins to regain his memories. He starts to notice strange things about his body, Erik, and their secluded mansion.
Myosotis – SomeCoolName
Summary: When Charles got back from Cuba, he lost the two things which made him stand: his legs and the love of his life, Erik Lehnsherr. Charles can get used to the wheelchair but he won't ever be able to get pass the loss of Erik.
"I wish I never met him" is something Charles says one night, maybe a bit drunk, absolutely wrecked for sure. It's a bit silly but Charles figures out his only solution is to use his own powers to erase Erik from his mind, progressively.
Except one day Erik comes back to the Xavier mansion to win him back. And even if Charles doesn't want to stop forgetting about him, Erik will do anything he can to convince him otherwise.
Das Haus am See – sareyen
Summary: The Lake House AU:
Erik is an estate planning lawyer who takes some time off to get away from the big city after his marriage fell apart. He lives in a picturesque lake house by Chautauqua Lake for almost two years, before moving back to New York City. This is in 2019.
Charles is a famous but very private author stuck in a creative rut, and moves to his lakeside estate for a short while to try and find a reason to write again. This is in 2017.
By magic or fate, Charles and Erik discover that the letter box at the lake house has the ability to send letters through time, between Charles in 2017 and Erik in 2019. Through letters that transcend the barriers of time, Charles and Erik fall in love. Charles vows to find Erik two years in his future, and Erik promises to wait for him. Two years - just two, meagre years.
But, fate is fickle, and time waits for no one.
Appropriate Boundaries – Yahtzee
Summary: Charles has been having serious problems with back cramps in the year and a half since he's been in a wheelchair. His doctor prescribes massage therapy. But when Charles meets his masseur, Erik, in some ways they begin to heal each other. So how do you cross the boundaries between professional touch -- and the personal?
Unbound – Cesare, helens78
Summary: Thousands of miles apart, Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier form a soulbond. But when that bond is severed five years later, they have to spend the next ten years trying to rebuild their lives alone.
Do You Love Me – cgf_kat
Summary: Charles and Erik have been married for 25 years, thrown together by a mandatory post-apocalyptic pairing system attempting to increase and strengthen the population. They have seven children. They have never spoken of love, but change is on the horizon.
A Quiet Riot – cloudstroke (aQuired)
Summary: Erik can't stand the fact that his father has brought home a boy less than half his age.
But mostly because he's madly in love with Charles Xavier himself.

It's fine. My job means I can't WFH. Everything's totally fine.
Fuck I'm tired.

Leonard is a Starfleet doctor, fresh from the Academy, working at a base in Atlanta when the news about Tarsus breaks. He still hasn’t fully processed the news before he gets word that he’s to be one of the doctors to go on the rescue mission at Pike’s recommendation. And it’s a good thing Pike lives across the country otherwise Len might have actually kicked in Pike’s door to demand just what Pike was thinking recommending him for something like this. He has to settle for ranting and pacing in front of a holo screen instead.
Pike waits patiently for Len to rant himself out before reminding the young doctor that he was the top of his class in all of his psych studies, and everyone he worked under during his residency gave glowing reports about his ability to work with trauma patients. There is no doubt in Pike’s mind that Len is the best doctor for this job. For these patients.
Leonard is on a ship out the next day.
He lands on Tarsus IV fully expecting to be handed a pile of files and cases of patients who had been deemed “worthy” by the former governor.
Instead he gets one.
“No one else can work with him.” He’s told when he asks about it.
So he goes to meet his one and only patient.
He goes ballistic when he finds an emaciated teen strapped down to a hospital bed in a makeshift holding cell. Demanding to know who’s idea it was to use a five point restraint on medically delicate and severely traumatized patient, and when the doctor steps forward Leonard rips them a new one before they can get two words in. (It wasn’t until much later that Len found out that this person was the CMO for the mission and could have feasible had him court martialed.)
Len gets into the room and everyone outside swears it’s nothing short of a miracle that he got the kid out of the restraints without incident.
All Len did was talk to the kid about what he was doing and treat him like he was a person. (He may have also offered to help him press charges against the [REDACTED] that put him in restraints.
Through conversation they find out that they both know Pike and Len does what he can to make sure the kid gets to call him as soon as he can.
The kid’s name is JT, as it turns out. His file says James, but Len wanted to know what the kid- what JT preferred to be called.
It’s not all smooth sailing. JT is still deeply traumatized (Len begins to suspect by more than just recent events) and deeply hurting. But he tolerates Len better than anyone else so Len takes that for a win and does his best by the kid. Taking careful note of his triggers and how to avoid them, snapping at anyone that gets to close without announcing their intentions first, by the end of it all Len has gained something of a shadow and JT a guard dog.
Pike meets them back on earth and is utterly stunned when this kid he’s met maybe half a dozen times, maybe, barrels into him, clinging to him tightly. But he just sighs and wraps his arms around the kid, telling him he’s okay now. He’s safe.
Pike and Len wait and contact JT’s family multiple times, but by the end of the week it doesn’t seem like anyone’s coming. An admiral says something about foster care and JT looks sick when Len jumps in.
“I’ll take him.” There’s no hesitation in his voice. “He can stay with me. I’ll take him.”
Long story short Len gets full custody with minimal fighting from Frank and soon Len and JT are back in Atlanta.
Jocelyn is not at all happy about this “overnight parenthood” business and up and leaves before Len even lands in Georgia. (Eventually she turns up to grab the last of her things and rubs a few snide comments about meeting someone else while he was off planet and get him to sign the official divorce papers.)
And just like that Len is a single dad to a teenaged son.
They both try so hard for each other, but Jim (he starts going by Jim back on Earth as a way of trying to adjust) is still deeply traumatized and scared to share about Tarsus and his life before that and Len…
The more he tries to help Jim the more he realizes his relationship with Jocelyn had been…unhealthy. (It was abuse and if Jim has to call what his uncle did abuse then Len has to call what he went through abuse.)
Pike keeps in touch and when he hears about the struggles Jim is having in school he cuts him a deal. If he can pass the entrance exam to Starfleet Academy he’ll get Jim into classes the next semester.
Len is terrified. Because Jim’s a freaking genius, of course he’s gonna get in! What was Pike thinking?!
Pike was thinking Jim needed something to strive for and now he’s got it.
The problem is that, despite having a good home and a safe place to grow the last few years, Jim still has a lot he’s carrying around. No one knows he’s one of the Nine, no one knows about his uncle, but they all still know who is father was. He still feels like he has a lot to prove.
So on top of getting into the Academy at seventeen, Jim is bound and determined to be out in three years.
He’s going to become the youngest captain Starfleet has ever seen.
Leonard is terrified for him, but he supports him nonetheless. There is no doubt in his mind that Jim is capable, he’s smart, and resourceful, and everything to look for in a good captain. But Jim is his kid. And He supports him, but that doesn’t keep him from worrying.
So about the time Jim is looking to graduate, Len contacts Pike about placement aboard the Enterprise. Pike has already been working on making space for Jim on his ship and it’s easy to make sure Len gets a spot too. (He might be a little smug when he tells Len “You’re my new CMO” because Len is still not a fan of flying.)
But before Jim can finish out his finally year Vulcan is attacked.
Len is set to go up with Pike and Jim is going to be left on Earth.
And he panics.
Jim breaks into one of the med areas and starts digging around for that mud flea vaccine he’s heard Len ranting about having significant side effects and wishing there was a way to get around them.
Then he gives himself a dose of that.
Jim stumbles, literally, into Len as he’s getting ready to board the shuttle and there’s no way he can leave the kid in this condition, but this is a full on all hands on deck emergency, so he does the only thing he can do and he drags the kid aboard with him.

Why Lose Hope?- Chapter 2
Chapter 1 , Part 1 of the All the Little Things Seem so Insignificant Now Series
Jim ran from the transporter, his crew behind him as he raced to reach the bridge. The transporter itself being broken from the strain of trying to deliver seven people to another universe.
He slid in his chair and lent forwards as if it would bring him closer to Bones. They'd somehow managed to get an image on the two versions of him in that universe and had been watching them for the entire ten hours he'd been gone.
It was bittersweet watching him. Bones' smiles were sour and his movements freaked from the weight of the possibility he may never go home. Yet he carried on. He cared for Leonard, for the animals and crops all while telling tales of his universe, his ship all those miles away.
"Scotty, tell me you've got some good news,"
"Well, Captain, it's fixable but it'll take an hour minimum," The pain was obvious in his voice. "The most you could do is watch for the time being,"
"Thank you, Mr Scott,"
He knew what that meant for Bones, another year until he could see anyone he loved again. Although he had spent the entire time with the other Leonard McCoy, perhaps he loved him? Did it count as self love when it was an alternate version of himself?
It had only been a few seconds for them, but when he looked back at the screen,a week had already passed. Spock had done the calculations, a year for them is an hour on the ship, a month is five minutes and one and a quarter minutes was a week.
Leo, their Bones, was sitting on the porch covered in a blanket. He'd taken ill quickly, their hypotheses had been that a planet with worse technology than they had, even regressing back before the third world war, would be less equipped to handle severe illnesses.
Leonard was sitting on the other side of the table with half a scarf hanging off his knitting needles. He was talking about something to do with their farm when Leo broke the calm, coughing and spluttering.
"Here," He handed him a glass of water. "Take a nice long drink and you'll be fine,"
Leo did as he was told and lent back in his chair, face a little paler from the exertion of his remaining energy. The weather had changed rapidly in the time he'd been away, everywhere was blue skies and sunshine.
"How about I give you something to take your mind off things?" Leonard asked, only getting a grunt from Leo. "When did you meet your Jim?"
The crew all turned to face him. Uhura giving an amused glance, Spock something actually questioning and everyone else seemingly on the verge of rolling their eyes.
"When d'you meet yours?"
"It was 2255, I was working on a starbase somewhere, a medicine focused one, and I rush over to see a young man, six years younger than me, trying to escape with an IV line in, bandages on, nasal cannula and osteocalcium cream on his legs. He was also on the verge of passing out and was politely yelling at the guard to let him leave," He looked at Leo. "That was when I met James T. Kirk,"
"Sounds pretty on brand for him," Jim tried not to be hurt by that statement, even if he knew it was true.
"I saw him pretty much every day for about eight months, he was recovering from a serious injury involving radiation, an explosion and some angry octosquidarians. Became quite a good friend of mine even when he got transferred out of the ICU. He left, of course, everybody did on that starbase, yet we still managed to keep in touch and when he had his own ship and needed a CMO, well there was only one man for the job," He said and smiled to himself.
There was something about his age, his grey hair and wrinkles that made his smile more heartfelt. Perhaps it was the knowledge that he'd had more years with his Jim, more loving moments and annoying mishaps. He had nostalgia in his eyes as he sighed and turned to Leo.
"How'd'ya meet your Jim?"
"On a shuttle to Starfleet Academy, I was being forced out of my place in the bathroom-"
"Bathroom?"
"I have aviophobia," He nestled into the blankets further. "Jim's face was covered in blood, he'd been in a fight, and I was kind of drunk and spouted all the ways we could die on the thing and how my wife took everything. Then when we landed I found out he was in the same student apartment as me,"
"He was little shit most of the time, but he's also my best friend and the love of my life,"
He stopped and stared out for a moment. Jim was glad, he couldn't take it anymore. It had only been a few hours without him but he knew it had been so much longer for Bones.
Part of him wondered while they were waiting for the transporter modifications if he'd even love him anymore. Ten years could change a lot in a person, he would know. He went into town and could've easily fell in love with a local, but he didn't. He still loved him and he still loved Spock.
Speaking of which, the other Leonard asked their Bones another question, "When did you realise you loved your Spock?"
"You remember how I had to resurrect Jim?"
Leonard nodded.
"Well, with Spock being a scientist in multiple fields, he could help me in making the serum. He took my place when I was on the verge of collapse from fatigue or hunger or emotion, and I ain't told anyone this, but I meditated with him on the little time I had off and it actually helped,"
Jim smiled at Spock at the image of the two. Bones probably complained that it was useless for an overthinker like him or about the sitting positions being too convoluted for his old joints. Spock had suggested they all meditate together, one of the few couple activities Vulcans were known to do.
"And when Jim woke up and I couldn't handle the pressure of caring for him and the tabloids calling me Dr. Frankenstein and the looks from all the other doctors and pharmacists and every other medic in the hospital. So Spock listened as I ranted and cried and-" He stopped and took a few deep breaths. "And I realised, oh shit, I think I'm falling for him,"
"Well that's very romantic. When did you tell Jim?"
"There was a mission involving loss, they made us see supposed ghosts of people we lost and Spock was determined to say he wasn't affected. But Jim invited him over and after a few hours of awkward silences and denying the connection we were feeling, we admitted our feelings to each other,"
"How about you?" He said.
"Spock had a thing, a Vulcan thing that meant he had to go home-"
"Pon farr?"
Leonard nodded, "Things happened, to survive we had to fake Jim's death, Spock didn't know but when he realised he was alive they finally admitted their feelings for each other. Unfortunately for me I realised I loved the bastards," He carried on knitting with a little more ferocity. "It wasn't until we found a giant space amoeba and Spock won our 'Who's going to sacrifice themselves for the sake of science argument' that I realised I should've told him,"
He chuckled to himself, "Well, we managed to save him, of course, and I took that as a sign and told them they had my heart. And apart from a little bump after the five year mission, we ain't never looked back,"
Jim and Spock smiled at each other. They'd visited Ambassador Spock and willed him to tell them his stories like children on Pesach. About peaceful Sunday mornings when he'd meditate and they'd secretly watch their Leonard get ready for church. And about many trips to Vulcan where the Ambassador would show them off like trophy husbands.
They could tell he missed his Jim and Bones, a nostalgic look always distant in his eyes and his house filled with the various photos and videos he kept on his PADD when he went through the black hole.
At the time, they didn't understand what that felt like, to miss someone with every fibre of your soul. But after watching their Bones survive years and years alone without them, they realised how strangely comforting such an ache was.
The screen in front of them sped up as time drifted on. Relative as ever. Jim took a deep breath as Yeoman Rand handed everyone coffee and settled back in his chair for a long few hours.
I've managed to put a few headcanons of mine into this, like old married mcspirk's habit of Spock meditating, Bones getting ready for church and Jim smiling goofily as he watches his husband get dressed in his sunday best. Also I made up a few things for TOS Mckirk's meeting but the main idea I got from memory alpha is that Jim got hurt in his pre-captain days and met Bones. I would very much like to see this meeting somehow.
This fic will get weirder quite quickly and the schedule I think I might go with is one chapter in the farm universe, one in one of the crew's universe's, back to the farm universe and one in the other crew's universe.
And finally, I added Yeoman Rand! I'm very much in the camp of "I'll add all the recurring characters in tos into aos because someone (JJ Abrams) didn't" so I hope you enjoyed her cameo!
