For weeks, I tried to vent, but couldn't find a safe space.

Wanna vent on the ones that are close to me, they're either far far away or can't be trusted with secrets.

Wanna vent on social media, risk of getting typical advice or worse.

Then I just remembered, no one that knows me, knows that I were here.

For years, I left Tumblr. Found no reason to keep on going, because what this space offers were no difference to others.

But now, I need you, more than ever.

The vent

Woman. I liked a few, but this one was extraordinary in my heart. I notice her on the second day in my current company.

"Wow, who's that cute girl over there" were in my thought.

her seat was quite far from me, that I can only see her whenever she walks across my row.

I did not know her name, for weeks, until a colleague included me in an unofficial office WhatsApp group. Her number are there, but I couldn't figure out which.

I couldn't talk to her, can't find the reason to. our work is never cross each other. but back then, my feelings for her aren't strong.

there was an after-work gathering/dinner event. as a new staff, I was forced to join, which I'm glad to. attending list was drafted, and her name was there, and I couldn't notice. during the event, a close colleague of mine called her name at the table,

"San"

my face wasn't reacting at all, but internally I carved her name on an untouched space in my brain. there is no way I will forget that name.

after that day, I greeted her whenever I can, but they are limited to 'morning' and 'hey'. but still, I did enjoy it.

I still remember the day that she changed her hairstyle, right after general election.

After that

the space that we were used for working was temporary. we are moved to permanent working space, which back then was under renovation. then I noticed the new seating chart. she was just in front of me. again, my face wasn't showing much, but my heart was filled with joy. but unconsciously, I said "eh San seat is here?" a colleague heard and ask, "eh do you like San?" I did say no, and I still wonder what if my answer were different...

now, since her seat is near, we are greeting each other more frequently. we were talking sometimes, but the topics were randoms and I had no clue what could lengthen our convo.

then I found out, she watches anime. we were talking about Kimetsu no Yaiba, Naruto and Code Geass. then she suggested a few Japanese J-pop, and the one that sticked to me are YOASOBI and SID. I constantly tried to find a thing to talk to her but starting to hit the wall. we talked a few things about Pokémon, and also hit the wall since the one that i watched were only Kanto and Kalos. but still, this created a new opportunity for me to share a few Pokémon memes.

then we come up new calling names.

she addresses me as ir**-chan

then I address her as San-chan

since I live alone, I've picked a new hobby. there were a few different things involves but within the similar process; fermentation.

little that I know that she is SO into fermentation!

since then, we talked a lot more, discussing about steps and taste, past experiences, what makes us interested into fermentation. I am glad that now I can find more things to talk to her. by the time of writing, we are still waiting on steps for making SCOBY.

I always tried to come to work a few minutes late just to find an opportunity to walk with her on the stairs. but out of ten, I manage to get one. but nonetheless, I still enjoy it.

there is a time that I'm upset. there was a hot woman walk in front of me and she told me to look at that woman. I'm not really responding to it, but I am offended to be told like that. she obviously did not know that

Lonely nights

i did what was stalker always do; try to find her on socmed. and i failed.

Hi Mun right now i'm unsure to throw this idea at you off anon. So please respond whenever you see this or able too reply? I'm really tempted to made a code geass rp / hangout group based in Discord. I did go and check your blog and saw you have done this before when the fandom was at it's highest activity. But i still wish there was more of us somewhere at this current time. What's your thoughts on this? Would you be interested? I'm sorry this was answered hours later than when you sent it!!

And, unfortunately, hype for Code Geass in the rp sphere has gone done a lot. General interest is the lowest it's been, due to lack of content and it just being one of those anime--while still highly regarded--that can easily fade into the background, overshadowed by other anime that have 'good animation/good graphics'.

I can't count how many times I've tried to revive the community by suggesting characters to mutuals, or just generally talking about it, so the only way I can keep using my muses are typically doing regular crossovers, and AU crossovers. But regardless...crossovers.

So if you wanted to start that Code Geass rp discord group, it would be very small, I can already tell you that. I do know one other roleplayer on here that has a Suzaku, and another Suzaku that's basically nonexistent because she's restricted to mobile-only and feels insecure about it(and also disappears quickly from discord convos...like I do).

I suppose the one thing you can do, now that you've found a code geass roleplayer(*cough* me), is just start roleplaying, maybe people will get interested? Maybe they won't.

...It's just one of those series that people now either get turned off by the 'old' art style or the mechs.

But, man, if any of my mutuals want GOOD DISASTER GAYS--freaking watch code geass, please.

well the topic of discussion rn is kinda lelouchs vs suzakus politics and how people tend to be very quick to critique suzakus as liberal ideology or whatever which like. it kinda is. and see lelouch as much more simply The Good One when the situations more complicated than that 

people fail to take into account things like their personalities and backgrounds and how, while lelouch is taking a more radical stance in activism thats actually good, hes doing it for selfish reasons p often and comes from like a privileged background that makes him kinda the equivalent of the rich white boy showing up at protests and breaking shit because anarchy or whatever. like hes still opposing fascism which is obviously a good thing to do but imo that doesnt automatically make him a good person (and i dont mean like good pure morals or anything i just mean like politically) 

and suzaku, while his approach isnt as effective is Not just the equivalent of like ur white liberal uncle who says dont fight hate with hate because like. thats not the background hes coming from and not the mindset of his politics and people are quick to dismiss him as an idiot when its like hes not hes just sort of like overly optimistic and also has a lot of internalized issues and self hate hes workin with 

and even tho i was a much less thoughtful person a couple years ago when i was more Majorly hating on lelouch it was basically for the same reasons. i dont think fandom Critiques him enough while they come down so hard on suzaku. i do love him as a character but a lot of that comes from the complexities that people arent as willing to discuss.

About the theory... I don’t know. I still don’t understand how it works with Eren and the memories. When does he get them? Is it radom? Is it convenient? Is someone behind this? Is it just convenient for the plot? No idea.

We got some hints about an individual being responsible of sending memories. Either Ymir or Eren himself was it. Maybe both.

Grisha pointed out to Eren. Eren was’t sure and asked Ymir if it was her.

That’s all we have. Eren himself didn’t get everything. Just brief moments. It could be... and I buy this, that Ymir just asked for help. But I don’t know.

The person who did it doesn’t really matter in the end. The important point is that he got tricked into believing something to be true so in the end he had no obstacles or distractions. And it was convenient.

To the question about the time when he got them? I risk to say that he already knew before chapter 123 because of the way he asked her. Since he asked Armin about Bert during the timeskip (ch. 107), it could be a proof. It’s still a weak proof.

All in all, we know for sure that at the time when he asked Zeke, he knew it and it was him who had those informations. Since Eren pointed out Zeke as the source and that he had to ask him about this... I don’t think he saw anything else than just the converstation of ch. 112 and probably didn’t get anything else after inheriting the WH.

Now this as a side comment... last Saturday I suddenly happened to be made to watch “Watchmen” the movie. I can’t recall what made me watch it. It was either my father or that Isayama said that Levi was partly based on Rorschach. It doesn’t matter.

While watching this movie everything started to make me think about this theory because... beware of spoilers...

There is a conflict between Russia and USA (aka. Cold War) that could be the start of a nuclear war and the end of humanity. There are two superheroes: Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan. While the first is the strategist and still part of humanity, Dr. Manhattan is a kind of godlike creature that can see the future and whose perspective and morality differ from the ones humanity has. Also... he isn’t part of humanity. His last bond to humanity is the “love” he feels for a woman and some friends.

Ozymandias plotted a great plan to trick humanity into believing that Dr. Manhattan decided to attack important cities arround the world so humanity finally gives up on war. What the fandom calls “Code Geass ending” comes actually from Watchmen.

For this to happen he tricked Dr. Manhattan all the time so he indirectly worked for him to build the bombs that were needed for the massive attacks. Meanwhile he spread lies about his bonds to his friends so he lost everything that could interfere with the plan. (for ex. that he caused cancer and his friends were dying because of that)

Thinking that he had no more reasons to stay on Earth with humanity, he left and teleported to Mars. This caused USA to grow weaker since he was the reason why Russia couldn’t attack and this set the beginning of Ozymandias’ mass genocide for the sake of peace.

I won’t say anything else... just this: 👀

To avoid looking like a clown, I highlight the fact that I realized this move of “Eren tricked himself” because of the manga itself and before knowing anything about Watchmen. And this is just 👀

Cs’ World, Geass fragments, and the ending of Re;surrection

Long post is long.

Reviewing Ragnarok

First off, let’s refresh what has happened in the anime with Cs’ World. During R2, CC says that “Cs’ World is also called the Collective Unconscious, some call it God”. This definition has seemingly changed during the movie, but honestly the fact it changed isn’t really important, it just makes this line weird in retrospect.

The Collective Unconscious is made up of all of the people who ever lived, hence why Charles and Marianne keep telling Lelouch and Suzaku, “you can talk to the dead!” etc, and also explains why Charles has a line where he says, “past present and future, there has only ever been one person”. Charles’s plan in R2 was “kill God” by adding humans to God (like... they literally show chains of humans being shoved into Jupiter). For this plan, Charles required at least one Code, but two Codes to make it 100% successful. Lelouch called his plan stagnation and “a closed world”. Lelouch tries to prevent his dad from “killing God” by requesting a tomorrow and allowing time to continue ticking.

The result of asking for a tomorrow

During the movie, in the scene in the truck, CC’s dialogue reveals that when Lelouch asked for a tomorrow, he killed God. To phrase it backwards, Lelouch did the same thing his dad was trying to do, but in a different way. In her convo wKallen, CC also attributes Lelouch’s wish for a tomorrow as to why she can no longer enter Cs’ World. However, when CC finally enters Cs’ World, this assumption turns out to be incorrect and she corrects herself in her own dialogue and identifies the real reason why she couldn’t Cs’ World freely.

When CC enters Cs’ World for the first time during the prison sequence, she remarks on how everyone’s individual consciousness (this is honestly probably not how you’re supposed to use this word, but it’s 1am) is scattered around, but they aren’t moving anywhere or doing anything. So, when Lelouch killed God, he did the opposite of what his dad was trying to do. Charles wanted to kill God by adding humans to it. Lelouch killed God by requesting a future, and this caused the consciousnesses of the dead people in the collective to split apart. Since they were a collective before, this would make them individuals now, hence CC’s dialogue.

In the convo w/Kallen in the truck, CC attributes Lelouch’s wish and him killing God as to why she can’t enter Cs’ World freely anymore. However, when she actually gets to Cs’ World, she finds a spooky purple orb with the shadows of Marianne and Charles, and deduces that it’s actually Charles who was preventing her. In her dialogue, she likens him to a wall; a divide between the “meta” world and the “real” world.

Don’t leave your heart behind

While floating through Cs’ World, CC begs Charles, “don’t leave your heart behind”. Funimation I believe translated it as like, “stop this already”? For the context she says it in, there’s nothing wrong with this translation. I am noting this because this line comes up again later but Funimation translated it completely different when it comes up here.

Spooky clouds

During CC and Lelouch’s time in Cs’ World, there are spooky black-orange-gray clusters of stuff that come out and try to swallow Lelouch and separate him from CC. The pamphlet for the movie describes this sequence as, “Lelouch being surrounded by human consciousnesses in Cs’ World”. Putting 1+2 together, Charles’s influence on Cs’ World must give him the ability to move the consciousness around.

In Lelouch’s words, Charles’s wish was to stagnate time, so I think it makes sense that now that Charles has influence on the consciousnesses scattered in Cs’ World, he would choose to make them freeze in place (remember how CC saw them when she enters and she comments about consciousnesses not moving around? Lelouch’s wish was for a tomorrow, and I sincerely don’t believe people’s souls would be frozen in place in a post-Lelouch’s wish world). And, upon finding Lelouch, the source of all of this bullshit for Charles, Charles’s influence would also cause the souls to try and swallow Lelouch.

It all links back to what CC says - Charles just can’t let Lelouch go.

The shadows in Cs’ World

After CC flies through Cs’ World, she reaches her hand out to Lelouch, but seemingly can’t reach him. Suddenly, a sequence with shadows that take human shape also throw out their hands. Recall that Cs’ World was previously occupied by the Collective Unconscious, and the Collective Unconscious was made up of the souls of everyone who ever lived and died.

The shadows we see here are easily identified as multiple dead characters from Code Geass. The first one is Euphy, the second is Rolo. Others seen are executed members of the Kyoto group, OG BKs Inoue and Yoshida, Urabe and Senba from the 4 Holy Swords, and a last figure that doesn’t seem as recognizable (maybe it’s Clovis....... he waited for you, Lelouch). These figures all reach their hands out, as if they were symbolically reaching towards or helping CC reach Lelouch. The last shadow we see is Charles’s, and he doesn’t throw his hand out of course as he’s still trying to block CC.

As an aside: Was Lelouch accidentally breaking down the Collective Unconscious into individual souls a bad thing? Knowing that this work was made in Japan (a collectivist society), I would honestly say... no, I don’t think so. It actually appears to have been a good thing. Like, honestly, the movie itself enforces the idea that this is positive, both through the way the shadows representing individuals save Lelouch here, as well as another sequence later in the ending.

Shamna’s plot with Cs’ World

Shamna’s plot in the movie is that has kidnapped Nunnally. She says during her dialogue that Lelouch fucked up Cs’ World and that Nunnally has the same wavelengths of Charles.

What does this all mean? Well, recall that in the TV show, Charles needed 2 Codes to successfully do the thing and make the Ragnarok Connection happen. Or rather, there was a chance of success with 1 Code, but it was 100% success with 2 Codes. Shamna has one code (a lot of English viewers seemingly missed this, but Shamna has a Code on her lower belly...), and then she collects Nunnally because “she has the same wavelengths as Charles”.

Seemingly, while this is not literally said in the movie, I think the implication is that Shamna, like Charles, would require 2 Codes to do what she wants to do to Cs’ World, but she doesn’t have a second Code, so she’s trying to use Nunnally as a make-shift Code.

I think the movie also supports the idea of Nunnally as a “make-shift second Code” during the ending.

Shamna’s chat with CC in Cs’ World

When CC speaks with Shamna, CC tells her, “don’t leave your heart behind”. (Funimation translated this as something about regrets, which honestly is better than heart IMO. Regrets is a more contextual word, both in the instance w/Shamna and Charles.) Anyway, as we saw before, Charles warped Cs’ World and caused the souls there to freeze. So this line of CC’s to Shamna reads like CC is telling her not to fuck up Cs’ World like how Charles did.

And, as we see later, we’re led to believe that Shamna took this advice from CC.

The rainbow hands that save Lelouch and Nunnally

While CC talks to Shamna, Lelouch goes off on his own and finds Nunnally. As they stare at the gray ball in the distance, Lelouch calls it the hearts of many (smth like regrets of many in Funi tl).

After finding her, the orange-gray Charles stuff come out of nowhere and attacks him again. I think this just serves as a reminder that, again, these things are here to mess w/Lelouch because of Charles’s influence on Cs’ World. Like... Shamna used Nunnally to get in to Cs’ World and the Charles influence kept Nunnally there as a way to bait in Lelouch. Blah blah.

At this point, Lelouch and Nunnally are being swallowed, Lelouch calls his Geass his own sin (I believe the context for this is that Nunnally wanted to use FLEIJAs to “wipe away Lelouch’s sins”; perhaps her thoughts and guilt also warped Cs’ World?), and rainbow hands form around them. Nunnally has a realization of some kind that causes her to start crying, and Lelouch remarks, “Ah, so they’ve saved me again?”

“Again” as in, recall when the individual shadows reached out for Lelouch alongside CC. They were the shadows of Euphy, Rolo, and many others. Lelouch is saying that those people have all saved him once more. How do we know for sure? I mean, I think “Euphy is here now” gives context to Nunnally’s facial expressions during this part. Also Taniguchi was being coy about this at Sakuracon and said, “no comment about who helped Lelouch but hey Euphy miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight be part of it” as a person with a Euphy tattoo specifically asked about Euphy’s involvement.

So, erm, rainbows beat dad...?

What’s more is that this rainbow sequence seemingly dispels all of Charles from Cs’ World. But... what exactly does it mean now that the power of rainbows exercised Charles from Cs’ World?

CC said before that she can’t get into Cs’ World. She later identified this was because of Charles. If Charles’s bullshit is gone now, does this mean she can freely enter Cs’ World again? And since Lelouch has a Code, does that mean he can freely enter Cs’ World? And, furthermore, if people can freely enter Cs’ World, does that mean that immortality is back? After all, CC attributed her access to Cs’ World as being tied to her immortality in the conversation with Kallen.

I assume these things will be addressed in whatever Code Geass thing is next...? Or not.

How does one do things to Cs’ World anyway?

Why did the rainbows appear anyway? As we see in the movie, Shamna attempted to use Nunnally as a make-shift Code. In this sequence, we have Lelouch (one Code) + Nunnally (make-shift Code), and they seemingly affect Cs’ World once they are united together. Perhaps that’s why? Or is it more related to Lelouch’s dialogue about his sins?

In the anime, they don’t really define why Lelouch’s wish is accepted by Cs’ World either. For example, since he has there with 2 Code users (Charles + CC) and you need 2 Codes to do stuff, perhaps that’s why Cs’ World took the request for a tomorrow. I’ve always been a fan of the idea that Cs’ World willingly took the request because it’s a pile of dead people who probably died w/regrets, w/o being able to accomplish things, etc. But really, Code Geass really doesn’t touch on its metaphysical realm much.

Fragments of Geass

As CC chats with Shamna, Shamna expresses her desire to stay in Cs’ World and see Shalio when he dies. Shalio dies pretty shortly after, and immediately after his death, we see a sequence in Cs’ World (you know it’s Cs’ World from the setting) where Shamna screams after his death then turns into a black-gray orb.

Corresponding with Shamna’s body being blown up in the temple (recall Lelouch set an explosion), her orb in Cs’ World explodes as well, causing things to rain over the sky. When CC and Lelouch talk at the end, CC says she is going to collect the fragments of Geass left behind by Shamna. Based on the appearance, I think the “Geass fragment shower” is supposed to symbolic of tears, and represents Shamna mourning Shalio.

Recall that CC had also told Shamna, “don’t leave your heart behind” aka “don’t fuck up Cs’ World like Charles did”. This is seemingly the result of that - she wanted to stay and await Shalio, Shalio died, and then rather than staying behind in Cs’ World and warping it as Charles did, she heeded CC’s words, turned into an orb and then unleashed a bunch of Geass fragments in the physical world and is about to create a bunch of new Geass users which LL and CC will deal with for the next 10 years.

I... guess...? If there are this many Geass users, it’ll be like a Pokedex of Geass users or JoJo’s but a new Geass user of the week.

Why can she cry tears of Geass? Idk, but one would assume it’s related to Cs’ World. Perhaps it’s related to Lelouch saying that his Geass is his own sin. Perhaps the # of fragments / # of meta-tears is related to the # of people Shamna has sacrificed, or the # of times Shalio has died and she went back 6 hours to save him.

The post-credits scene

In the post-credits scene, LL seems to be offering someone a Geass contract, but with 2 differences from the speech CC gave him. He states that the power of kings MAY isolate you, and that if you aren’t prepared then your Geass will be taken from you.

Seemingly, this scene is set up so that LL and CC are looking down at a pile of corpses in a ditch. There are fans who think that LL and CC killed these people. However, as alch observed, there is actually a girl attempting to climb out of the pit. Code theorists can be so obnoxious but I actually love the idea of Lelouch unintentionally surviving Zero Requiem; it just provides so much potential for angsty post R2 fics. And boy, do I love angst. Like, him being vaguely aware of the possibility that he might have gotten a Code and going through with ZR anyways -- because what else was he supposed to do? But then upon not staying dead he instead needs to stay hidden? And totally making up his mind to never talk to the one he loves the most, thinking it'd be for the best. Because if he's escaped death, then he'd need to punish himself some other way, right? (Plus, bonus if C.C. is with him and thinks he's being stupid)

Then, Suzaku and Nunnally grieving over Lelouch together. At first it's a really really sore topic for both but with time passing they're finally able to come to terms with it. They find that they're one of the few people they can truly talk about Lelouch and find comfort in their shared memory of the past?

Of course, for one convoluted reason or another Lelouch gets forced out of hiding, and obv he'd have to confront Suzaku, Nunnally etc. at some point. They'd just be feeling so betrayed??? Like, them asking themselves if this was all just another of Lelouchs ploys, if it's just another game of his?? And if it wasn't, why would he have them think that he'd been dead all this time, why didn't he tell them??

God, I really wished they'd addressed Zero Requiem more in Re;surrection and how Lelouch being back alive is in direct opposition to it. He only has such a short convo with Suzaku; don't even get me started on Kallen. But that's why fanfics exists, I guess :P

in the middle of the battle for narita, lelouch runs off the battlefield to care for c.c. when she’s injured protecting lelouch from suzaku even though he already knows she can’t die. initially, he wants to sample her blood for testing, but after hearing her moment of weakness and her name, he tosses the bloody rag away (tho while they’re in the cave, isnt he worried the still inexperienced black knights would fuck up somehow lol)

again, lelouch knows c.c. can’t die and c.c. was… not very Kind rejecting him to go to mao, but as soon as lelouch figures out what mao had said to her, he immediately stops to go save her even though…. he really didn’t need to because as c.c. said, her leaving was the comparatively easier solution to protecting himself

ending of r1 - nunnally is kidnapped, but he still has time to worry about and reassure c.c. (cue the “if you’re a witch, then i’ll become a warlock” line)

in the chinese federation infiltration picture drama, post-dance and post-geassing of the federation officials, kallen and c.c. both depart to make preparations, but lelouch this time is the one to stop c.c. and engage in small talk basically LOL but also to reassure her and, as evidenced by the picture drama fading out on their convo, that goes on for Quite A While despite the fact that they have more pressing matters lmaooo

EDIT2: AND I FORGOT THE BRIEF SCENE in r2 ep11 immediately post-kallen capture when c.c. is going out to join the battle because they are That Outmatched and lelouch stops her to say, “if we start to lose, run for it” to which c.c. responds, “come up with a solution before that happens” :’) (this is a really good thread discussing it.)

edit: I FORGOT TO ADD OF COURSE r2 ep 15 - the emperor has code; lelouch HATES the emperor and britannia and is devastated to learn defeating him is IMPOSSIBLE now, but when he learns the Solution would be taking c.c.’s code and killing her to go toe-to-toe with him, he 200% refuses. given all the carnage he’s caused thus far and all the people he’s lost (euphie, shirley, etc), given the “ends justify the means” mindset he has, it makes little sense not to take c.c.’s code to secure a road to victory tbh, esp when she was convinced it (mercy kill) was what she wanted but love often doesn’t make sense :’)

nunnally is in grave danger again - he lashes out at an amnesiac c.c. but as soon as he realizes he’s hurt her, he snaps out of his freak-out to care for her

there’s also a moment during this arc when he’s going to make his final stand against the emperor do-or-die, kill-or-be-killed and he thinks something along the lines of “kallen take care of c.c.” which is rly sweet given c.c. is completely useless to him now and she’s not even really c.c. anymore

they’re in the middle of an all-out war about to enact a plan with very low chances of survival/success (i.e. disabling the fleija), and he still takes the moment to reassure c.c. and have a genuine heart-to-heart (cue kallen cockblock)

you could say some of these instances are due to Pride and not wanting to Owe C.C. A Debt (i.e. examples 1 + 2) earlier in the series, but we’ve all seen that lelouch CAN swallow his pride (when he goes to suzaku and begs on hands and knees for him to protect nunnally) in order to achieve a goal, and anyway pride can’t explain the rest of the instances throughout r2

with his other main love interests, shirley and kallen, lelouch has…. more often than not blown them off, intentionally or otherwise 

lelouch has blown off shirley so many times except when her life was In Imminent Danger but one instance is shirley calling lelouch about to confess during the chinese federation arc and lelouch asks her a question bc politics before immediately hanging up lol

kallen gets captured by the enemy; lelouch means to go save her (and he does give the immediate order despite the strategic risks), but A Bunch Of Shit Happens and he gets waylaid for many episodes and then isn’t even the one to directly save her in the end lmao (i think she was “priority item #3″ during that operation?? bc the main focus was nunnally and ider what priority item #2 was lol)

but with c.c. i cant really remember a moment where c.c. Required His Immediate Attention, and lelouch hasn’t given it to her, regardless of what other Shitfest is going on or how relatively minor her issue is, even when the Shitfest involves nunnally, his #1 priority. given lelouch’s reactions to events throughout the series, i’d say c.c. is a close second—maybe because she’s Useful To Him earlier on in the series (even though kallen is too lol, his “most special piece to play” as he says) but that explanation is insufficient to explain his actions by the end of r1.

there was discussion on the reddit about a scrapped plot okouchi had written where c.c. was kidnapped and lelouch immediately ran off to save her (here and here with link to OG tweet), and at first i was like this sounds kinda ooc but looking back on some of these canon instances….. sounds about right lmaooo.

he keeps shirley and kallen at arms length much of the time because, as c.c. says in the series, there are times when you have to distance yourself from those you love because you love them, and he does love shirley and kallen. but with c.c. he shares something special, something different, something where he can not only rely on her to be his other half but also keep her in his thoughts even when his thoughts are a fucking mess and even when 1) there’s no need or 2) it doesn’t benefit him.

Okay so I watched DXfan619’s review of code geass (https://youtu.be/5q-9EotzBZU), and at first I agreed with the fact that it seemed contrived, however I started asking myself more about the show and realised that I had an entirely different view on the show and events. Thanks DXfan for getting the convo started, here is my reply; 1. The first episode was to set up Lelouch’s character, this includes the chess scene. The chess scene establishes that Lelouch has no interest in school, it bores him and that the chess matches are starting to bore him as well due to a lack of proper challenge. It also shows that he is ambitious and a bit impatient. I would like to point out that the gambling is how he is saving money for his future rebellion. (Also 9 minutes of watching chess is boring, even if they condensed it, it would be at least 3 minutes.) 2. Rivalz literally said “hey, about that first move, why did you start by moving the king.” so Lelouch responded with his philosophy, this is not supposed to establish him as smart, it is supposed to show that he has ideals and even if they aren’t strategically sound he’ll stick to them, which contrasts him from Suzaku who is a hypocrite. (I do play chess and in that case it wasn’t a bad move.) Also Rivalz watched the match so it would be redundant to ask him how he won. 3. Suzaku joining the britannian military is not a contrivance for his character. Suzaku is set up as a ‘nobler than thou’ character, he constantly tries to force his inner beliefs on others. Through a series of flashbacks we are shown that Suzaku killed his father in order to end Japan’s war with Britannia and has been trying to keep that peace. Suzaku’s form of peace isn’t measured by casualties, it’s measured by civil unrest. He proves this when he calls zero’s means contemptible even though the result was zero casualties. Suzaku doesn’t like war or making civilians suffer in fear of being caught in the crossfire. He even blames the terrorists for the shinjuku ghetto masacre. His father had Japan go to war, so suzaku brought him to justice and ended the peoples suffering… at least in his mind that’s what happened. 4. This scene shows lelouch as somewhat capable. Clovis is an actor who knows nothing of strategy, he was sent to area 11 to keep things under wraps whilst people like Jeramiah clean it up. Also there was only one general in the room; Bartley (Clothes means everything). Clovis is a lower prince it doesn’t makes sense that he would be given a general as capable as say, Gilford. Actually Lelouch gives the orders and they are enacted on the battle screen, just because you don’t see the knightmares themselves doesn’t mean they didn’t show you what happened. 5. It would have been interesting to see the simulation and get a sense of how Knight’s train. However I think the bigger issue in this scene (I know such a wonderful defenese; point out bigger flaws!) is that suzaku was shot in the back and the hit from that - even though death was expertly avoided by a dumb watch - was enough to knock him out, yet he’s fine and at 100% physical capability later in the same fight (A grunt or two with no hindering of his driving capability is not enough). 6. While I will admit a few contrivances are ashford related, Ashford is not a contrivance in itself. Lelouch is in a similar situation to Spider-man, he’s a superhero in highschool. Much less he was in high school before he got his powers and thus it would be ridiculous to just say adieu to Ashford. Also since it is a boarding school it happens to also be the place where he lives, he can’t just find a new apartment because he’s Zero now, that would be suspicious! Also he needs Nunnally far away from the fighting. At this point Lelouch moving would be more of a contrivance than staying at ashford. And yes since he lives there and attends school it would make sense that a lot of stuff happens there and that his best friends from the student council are central characters since they are the only ones at ashford that Lelouch actually socializes with. 7. Yes, Kallen being added to the student council is a contrivance since she was introduced as somewhat popular and probably able to join a different, non-physical, club. As I said in the previous point however, since this is from Lelouch’s perspective and Lelouch only socializes with the club members some central characters being student council is not. 8. This plan is somewhat bad for other reasons (like Kyo said, what if Sayako had played the tape back), but what happened is well within believable. All Lelouch would have to do if she didn’t grab him - which is unlike Kallen since she’s extremely blunt and impulsive - is pretend to remember something, or bring up one last thing for the conversation. Just because plan A worked, doesn’t mean there isn’t a plan B. 9. As for tonal disparity, scenes changed only after the scene had reached it’s climax and sometimes died down. 10. Suzaku as a scapegoat. Almost anyone could have filled this role but Suzaku was perfect for it since he is the son of the previous prime minister. Scapegoats in this case are used to calm the public, to say ‘we got the culprit you can all sleep easy.’ That is one of the reasons Suzaku was somewhat okay with it, as I said earlier Suzaku’s peace is measured by civil unrest, this move would have eliminated the civil unrest caused by the shinjuku incident.

Geass Movie Super Ultimate Final Summary Extra Mega Sugoi Version (2/2)

Last time on Code Geass, Lelouch of the Re;surrection: Shesthaal is very cute, Lelouch blows up Shesthaal with Bitool’s Sakuradite, Shesthaal cries out for his father as he gets blown up, and there goes my interest in this movie.

Tbf though, it’s a good death scream. Imagine what kind of noises he makes in bed... he’s def an uke...

Anyway, continuing on.

Lelouch and the gang split from the prison and the container of prison staff he Geassed to help with their getaway is seen being let go. Although it took him 728 days longer to rise from the dead, Jesus Lamperouge has learned mercy.

Back in the capital at Shamna’s temple, Shesthaal’s dad, Cmdr. Forgnar, comes in and goes, “Holy shit my son died let’s go FUCK UP THE UFN” and Shamna is like, “No, let’s not.” Whether you think he actually cares or whether he wants to use this as an excuse to fuck up the UFN is up to you. However, based on the dialogue about how Cornelia is a curse word in this region, and how Forgnar doesn’t talk about his son like ever again (even other characters who aren’t even from Zilkhstan bring up Shesthaal’s “disappearance” later), it comes off as more like... Forgnar just wants an excuse to go fight Cornelia.

She asks Bitool how long ago Shesthaal died and Bitool replies it was in the afternoon, at 11am. Since it’s out of the 6 hour time limit (we’ll come back to this later), she apparently can’t do shit. Shamna says that with her prophecy, even if they’re Geass users, they can beat anyone. It shows Nunnally on the ceiling in some kind of tank. And also she has new clothing but isn’t wearing underwear because in Zilkh culture, they don’t wear underwear. This might read like a joke sentence, but it’s a 100% serious sentence.

At the UFN HQ, Schneizel is wearing glasses and looks hot. That’s all you need to know. There’s also a convo related to the plot and sending people and supplies to Zilkhstan including Lancelot’s new fortress frame coat, but I’m just gonna explain this in the next bit.

Back to the Good Guys, Sayoko observes some drop ships. Cornelia, who is now a general in the UFN (which makes her a Black Knight) has shown up with a small team of Black Knights and a Rag Tag Band from the TV series - herself, Guilford, Ohgi, Tamaki, Cecile, Nina, Anya, Jeremiah. The 8 of them, combined with Lelouch, CC, Kallen, Suzaku, Lloyd and Sayoko, plus Cornelia’s BKs, are going to save the fuck out of Nunnally.

Now, you might be asking yourself, “Why these specific people?” HMM WELL YOU SEE. None of them, aside from Cornelia and her few soldiers, are actually BKs anymore. Kallen is only a reserve member as she’s attending university. Basically, Schneizel can’t formally be like, “Wow send 1000 people to rescue Nunnally and mobilize the Black Knights” which is why he’s sending people who are mostly not involved with the Black Knights on this SUPER SECRET MISSION. (They talk about this back when CC first meets up with Kallen/Sayoko/Lloyd.)

And you might also be asking yourself... “Wait, what about Tohdoh, Gino, Xingke”, etc. What about those other Black Knights? HMM WELL YOU SEE. Xingke died, and the rest aren’t very popular characters, so plot-wise they stuck with the Black Knights giving the story and animators excuses to not include them in the main plot except for something really brief later.

Anyway, Lelouch has taken up the Zero costume again while CC is upset they haven’t run away to fuck like rabbits yet so she drinks a martini. And Cornelia is the only person with a brain, so she is like, “Dude, what the fuck? Am I supposed to be OK with this while Euphy and Darlton are dead?” Everyone else is like down to help Lelouch and Cornelia is not having this shit. Lelouch convinces her by taking off his Zero mask and sincerely asking his older sister for help.

Cornelia is like, “Hell yeah we’re gonna save Nunnally” after this but first since no one has seen each other in a while, they need to party first. Kallen and CC have some girl time finally but then proceed to fail the Bechdel test and talk about Lelouch.

Ohgi gives Lelouch a USB drive from Kaguya then tries to kill himself even though he has a wife and a child at home. Lelouch, without turning around, knows Ohgi is trying to kill himself so he forgives him and say it’s okay because he is merciful Jesus now. It’s chilly at night in the desert and Cornelia’s outfit is like sleeveless and zettai ryoiki so she’s walking around in the Zero jacket and gives Suzaku a drink.

Honestly, just let Cornelia be Zero.

Lelouch signals Suzaku up to the water tower, where they talk about how Lelouch understands the plot regarding his resurrection as well as the viewer (as in he doesn’t) and as far as he knows he could roll over and die at any time. Then an extremely misplaced Ali Project insert song plays while Lelouch watches a video from Ohgi’s wedding with lots of characters conveniently gathered at once... one of which happens to be Nunnally.

Also, Cornelia’s tits are one of the most well-drawn things in this movie next to Shesthaal’s hair when he’s in the cockpit. Honestly, I appreciate you, Sunrise.

SO, keikaku time. Instead of trying to explain this chronologically, I’m just gonna explain it... not chronologically.

Shamna’s Geass is to send her memories back in time 6 hours when she dies, so she effectively knows what’s going to happen and Zilkhstan can prepare for it. In an interview, Lelouch’s VA Fukujun compares this to “uploading her memory to Cs’ World and then downloading it” since Cs’ World has no concept of time. So, basically, the reason why Zilkhstan has been successful is because Shamna is fucking save scumming.

It is implied she already reset time at least once in the movie by now. The first is that at the start of the movie, Shalio remarks about how Zero moved to the place that Shamna said he would, so Shalio and the other KMFs are able to set up a trap under Suzaku in advance. I don’t know why she can’t chain this 6hrs -> back another 6hrs.

Lelouch and co initiate their plan. Lelouch successfully outmaneuvers Zilkhstan at every single place possible: Suzaku and Kallen are on the flats in Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice and wipe out all of the mooks. Everyone else is also able to make it to their destination. Zilkh soldiers have been Geassed to blow up their bases, Bitool can’t make it to his Guard Scorpion mech, etc.

Finally, Lelouch rides up to Shamna’s temple on the Mahoraba (the one Suzaku didn’t wreck at the start of the movie). Shamna goads Lelouch by hitting a button that auto-kills Nunnally in her tank. Lelouch responds by gunning Shamna down immediately. Shamna sends her memories back in time 6 hours.

Shamna is bathing with Shalio when she has a “prophecy”. We see she has a Code on her lower belly in this scene. She calls up Forgnar and explains the plot to him. This time around, Zilkhstan is prepared for all of Lelouch’s bullshit. Lelouch starts to despair and is almost shot down in the Mahoroba when Anya and CC show up and rescue his dumb noodle ass. Lelouch and CC co-pilot the Gekkoei. Lelouch has an existential crisis as he freaks out about his plans not working while everyone around him also freaks out about the plan not working and asks him for further instructions. And I mean like, literally everyone except for uhmm Cornelia? I think?

There’s a scene in R2 where Suzaku debuts the Lancelot Albion. Bismarck is there in Galahad and uses his Geass to fight Suzaku. Lelouch then rings up Suzaku and goes, “Dude, this being broadcasted worldwide, don’t fucking embarrass me”. Suzaku then goes on to use his live Geass to somehow overpower the Knight of One.

If this were a scene in the movie, it would be like, the Knight of One dodges one of Suzaku’s attacks or something and then Suzaku freaks the fuck out and goes, “OH NO, THE KNIGHT OF ONE HAS A GEASS. LELOUCH, WHAT DO I DO? MICROMANAGE ME AND GIVE ME SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS.” That is honestly what this whole sequence feels like.

Eventually, CC puts a gun to his head, out edgelords him, and convinces him to get his shit together. Lelouch gives her orders to give to everyone else because Geass doesn’t work on her. Thanks to Tamaki’s stupidity, he then uses the Zilkh public channel to declare that it’s time for the final phase of this mission. Suddenly, everyone becomes competent again and CC starts issuing commands to people. CC asks him what “final” means, and Lelouch replies it means nothing.

We then go through 30(?) implied time resets. While it doesn’t show time resetting literally 30 some times, it is implied that Lelouch gets 1 plan to work, then Shamna resets time and is ready for his new plan next time. We know it’s 30-ish because Lelouch has 8 folder plans he gives to CC, and also has 22 theories about what the enemy Geass user’s Geass is and he goes down the list eliminating them.

Something that I think English viewers missed from the American theater screenings is that CC does not retain their memories because Shamna’s Geass only affects herself. So, essentially, from Lelouch’s POV, he’s just going down the list until something works. From Shamna’s POV, she goes back and prepares to counter him every time she sees his next move.

On the last loop, Lelouch’s last ditch effort to figure out Shamna’s Geass is to bluff her by saying, “I have the same Geass as you”. Shamna freaks the fuck out and tells her guards not to kill Lelouch. Lelouch can tell from this reaction what her Geass is, so he Geasses her to sleep, and also sets a bomb that will go off in 10-11-12-whatever hours. (E.g. even if Shamna resets time, she’ll be back in time but it’ll be when she’s sleeping.)

Lelouch and CC try to wake Nunnally but she isn’t responsive. CC deduces that her soul/KOKORO/whatever is not in her body. However, they set Shamna’s temple to blow up in [X] hours. Lelouch and CC use Shamna’s system to enter the metaphysical world. CC goes to confirm something, then she will leave to move their bodies so they don’t die IRL.

CC confronts Shamna and learns the plot: “I want to remake the world.” Recall that in R2, Marianne and Charles needed 2 Codes to fuck Cs’ World. Shamna has 1 Code on her womb. Charles is dead, she doesn’t know Lelouch has one. Seemingly, she tried to use Nunnally has a make shift second Code due to her connection to the magic world cause of her family. (Her “wavelengths” are the same as Charles’s.)

Ah, yes, an older sibling with a Geass who has a younger wheelchair bound sibling tries to fuck the whole world. Hmm NEVER HEARD THAT PLOT BEFORE. Shamna wishes to stay in the metaphysical realm so she can see Shalio as he passes by. CC warns her not to “leave her [heart/essence/whatever] behind”. Interpretation is that CC is saying, “Can you please not fuck this up like how Charles did” [by leaving himself behind].

In the real world, CC, Tamaki and Ohgi have moved Lelouch and Nunnally’s bodies away from the temple. Lelouch finds Nunnally. The two get swallowed by black particle bullshit until Lelouch confesses that Geass is his sin (or something... I don’t actually remember what he says before the “uhh this is my sin” part). After, rainbow fucking magic hands appear to “catch” them, and Lelouch remarks that these are the people who helped earlier. (Earlier as in, when CC reached for Lelouch.)

The sub-plots that occur during all of these time resets are as follows:

Ohgi and Tamaki steal a KMF by distracting the pilot with camels crossing the road then getting on top of the KMF and beating the pilot up. Then they make hot pot while waiting for orders from Zero.

Sayoko ditches Ohgi and Tamaki to meet up with the science crew who can’t escape the city because Qujappat is after them. Cecile gets shot during the skirmish (all 30 fucking times) and Nina kills Qujappat by disconnecting her KMF’s energy filler power lines and dropping them in water to electrocute him and the other assassins to death.

Gino and Tohdoh (and others) are trying to talk to Zilkhstan official politic-y people about the Nunnally and Zero being MIA thing as members of the Black Knights. Gino asks to know why Zilkhstan’s Official Elite Bodyguard Captain Something Something Rich Pretty Boy PR Person Shesthaal is mysteriously missing from this meeting as he was supposed to be there. Milly, who is watching events unfold at the TV station, also asks about where he went.

Suzaku fights Shalio with his new Lancelot (ugly as) siN and its thicc frame coat. Shalio beats him in the frame coat. Suzaku purges the frame coat and then beats Shalio. However, by this point, Shalio’s body is seemingly at its limit (he’s bleeding out of his eyes), and honestly it feels like a free kill. At one point, Suzaku asks Shalio, “Why the fuck did you ruin peace etc” and Shalio replies that he has to be the ultimate warrior (implied: for his sister) so he can’t do this hand-holding peace shit and his country has nothing but fighting.

Kallen gets trapped by Bitool’s guard scorpion mech in the Guren Special Type (also thicc). She purges the frame coat and magical warp speed jumps out of the energy sphere she’s trapped in, then blows up Bitool with her good ole laser knife.

Cornelia and Guilford are on the bridge. Cornelia fights Forgnar, who then tries to sacrifice himself and orders his troops to kill both him and Cornelia. Cornelia encourages him to find a peaceful solution.

After all of this bullshit resolves, Shamna’s temple blows up and we see a visual representation of her being exploded inside of the Thought Elevator where CC last saw her. In the real world, Lelouch and Nunnally chat about being together again. The scene between them ends without you hearing his response to her. CC skips town, but not before Kallen gives CC her bootleg Cheese mascot.

Lelouch catches up to CC (out of breath, ofc). CC says something about going to find other Geass users like Shamna (I don’t remember the exact details cause Shesthaal has nothing to do w/this scene, sorry). Lelouch goes with her, taking up the name LL to match CC’s non-human name. CC pauses, then blushes and makes a moe anime waifu noise.

However, it is nowhere near as cute as Shesthaal’s “umu” or when he asks where Zero is in the prison (”Zerooooo?”). Lmao fucking get rekt CC he’s cuter than you and also has long green hair.

In the post-credits scene, Lelouch and CC have clothes from a 2000s Hot Topic - CLAMP-looking black gothic outfits. Something that like... no one has mentioned so far is that Lelouch is wearing a rose choker that matches Shirley’s rose earrings from the ending cards. Shirley also showed up in a mall earlier in the movie. Shirley... was shopping at Hot Topic for Lelouch and CC and bought herself earrings while she was there? Idk.

Lelouch recites the same Power of the King speech that CC gave him in the first episode of the anime, but with a couple differences. He says the power MAY isolate you, not that it will, and also that if you suck at Geass, he’ll take it away from you.

OKAY YEAH SO I didn’t really enjoy this movie a lot. You have about 5 seconds to mourn Shesthaal before Daddy Schneizel shows up in glasses. It’s like you’re eating a cute little salad and you’re not done when your entree shows up. (Your entree. In glasses. And looking hot and appetizing as fuck.)

Pretty boy stuff aside, my opinion is generally that the main plot stuff is a bunch of “whatever” but the smaller stuff is good. Like... Tamaki and Ohgi making hot pot in a KMF after knocking out the pilot by distracting them with camels crossing the road (semi-foreshadowed earlier when Tamaki and Ohgi were hiding out near some sleeping camels) was some pretty great character interaction that actually led up to Lelouch’s, “Yo, final phase” speech on the open channel.

Shalio knowing that Suzaku is Zero BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING SPINKICK was pretty great too. There are lots of small things that have nothing to do with Lelouch and CC that I found way more memorable and Code Geass-y. Even just reading interviews is fun - Nobbu is a good VA and there’s an interview where he’s like, “Taniguchi told me, ‘Your dad is Akio Ohtsuka’ and I instantly understood”... lol...

The stuff with, “Everyone is useless, good thing Lelouch is here” was kind of physically painful to watch. From a thematic POV, we see the compare/contrast - Nunnally able to live without Lelouch but Shalio unable to do the same without Shamna. And also with how Zilkhstan are a bunch of headless chickens without Shamna micromanaging them with her prophecies yet all of the old TV cast magically become competent again after Lelouch says their plan is now entering the final phase.

E.g. we see how a ~decorated war hero~ like Cmdr. Forgner was also reliant on her explaining the plot (maybe it’s for the best poor Shesthaal died before finding out everything about his dad and his country were big fucking shams ;_;). However, just because I understand why it’s in the movie doesn’t mean I have to like it. ‘_>’

It was like watching uh, idk, Advent Children or Nadesico: Prince of Darkness or something. Which was also about the expectation level for this movie, but I actually felt fatigue kick in around the 1hr 20min mark...
