I have been absolutely blessed by the wondrous green, who not only tolerated me practicing my codfish puns on them for Leaky Boat, but ALSO drew me the most superb Cody (COD-y, if you will) to ever grace the seven seas.
Look at him! Such grace and majesty! I trust him with my life!

This is a project focused on memory and identity, namely preserving the ones of codfish fishermen from Ílhavo, Aveiro (Portugal). Life then was one of struggle and the future of men had been reduced to two deaths; by war, or by sea. Codfish fishing was dangerous and both human and machine limits being pushed to the extreme were the norm. However, our group focused on happy memories, the fleeting good times that crew mates spent together and formed tight knit family bonds.

Exhibition
It was developed during the first semester of our second year of (what is equivalent to in the English language) bachelors, in the last months of 2016. Our group illustrated these memories to later be serigraphed unto the IKEA tableware “365+”. The themes of these illustrations are teamwork against loneliness. It’s also part of a class wide project and exhibit, “Ílhavo - Memórias e Identidade” at the end of the year, December 15th, and later on exhibited again in April 1st 2017, at the Ílhavo Maritime Museum.

"CANADIAN CODFISH FULL OF VITAMINS," Toronto Star. November 3, 1943. Page 5.
---
This 50-pound codfish is a sample of what is being hauled out of the ocean these days by 3,000 Canadian fishermen who are working off Gaspe peninsula in an effort to supply the home market with cod liver oil that was formerly imported from Scandinavian countries. In addition to furnishing the vitamin-rich oil, the codfish are dried and salted and shipped overseas to Allied troops.
