Seeing her shy smile, the corner of my mouth also curled upward unconsciously.

——At this time, we normally have dinner at my house or the office, but today Ichika said that her parents sent wine from her hometown, so I came to trouble Ichika's house.

"Anyway, is it really okay for me to take the rest of the wine back?"

"Of course, I don't usually drink by myself, so if it's at Aiji-san's place, I can accompany you for a few drinks when I go there for dinner."

"In that case, I'll take it then. It's great that your parents' attitudes changed too."

"Well....Perhaps that's thanks to Ajii-san, because my parents really care about saving face, so maybe they're intending to curry favour.. "

"Well, don't belittle yourself, things will be fine."

"It's as you say, sorry, I tend to do that without realizing when talking about home/family."

I handed the dishes I washed to Ichika, and she wiped them dry with a towel.

Seeing her solid [the term here is more "secured "] smile, I once again felt that it wonderful for me to be my girlfriend's moral support.

——It wasn't that long ago, that I formally proposed to Ichika. After completing the marriage application, we went to her hometown to visit her parents to ask for their permission.

Her parents were more respectful/earnest than I expected but they didn't appear to be superficial.

Besides, I wanted to prioritise Ichika's mood, so as long she and her parents were able to decently get along, there was no need to force them together. After all, the way the two of us spend our days peacefully was more precious to me than anything else.

"....Where's Kazuki?"

"Nn... He's staying at Isshiki-san's place today."

"Then there's no reason for me to refuse."

"That's great! I'll make some dishes that go well with alcohol later, would you like to try some other flavours of nihonshu [Japanese sake]?"

"That's a good idea, sake from Niigata [a prefecture in Japan] taste good, and the one we drank over dinner wasn't satisfying."

"Ah, then you need to take a bath first, I'll get the hot water ready!"

"Hm... but there's no need for you to be in such a hurry...."

Before I could finish speaking, she slipped on her slippers and ran away excitedly.

…….Although it was a common occurrence, her adorable reactions always made me want more.

Rather than what's hinted at from staying overnight, it would be better to say that I was looking forward to certain things.

But not all the time since if she found out what I was thinking, I'd feel extremely embarrassed.

Once I finished saying that, as I expected, her eyes widened and her face looked shocked.

Although I was already satisfied from seeing her expression that like that, as these opportunities seldom came, I still wanted to try it.

"You're quite shocked, wasn't your proposal earlier like this."

"Eh... this... um..."

"The bathroom here is quite spacious."

"Aiji-san, are you drunk?"

Ichika's face turned scarlet, and she lifted her head to fiercely stare at me.

......This was a bit unexpected, and her adorable expression made me feel wonderfully jealous——I absolutely could not let any other man see it.

I smiled as I slowly approached her, but the way she kept taking steps to retreat somewhat made me feel heart-broken.

After retreating all the way to the wall like this, I gently approached her.

"It's impossible to get drunk with that amount of alcohol. If you're not willing, it's fine to forget it?"

"That sort of question is too unfair... just wait you, let me think...!"

After saying that, she pushed me out of the way and ran out of the kitchen to sit down on her bed, and stared at the sheets in anguish.

Seeing her serious expression, I truly sympathized, since I had a similar experience, which was from the "suffering" that came from choosing between reasoning and desire.

"How could that be? I truly do want to take a bath with you."

From the way she was whispering, I smiled and comforted her by saying "don't force it." At this time, the thermometer on the wall made a pleasant sound. It was the beeped to indicate the hot water was ready.

"The water's ready, I'll wash up first."

At the same time, to express my apologies, I gently patted her head.

Seeing how Ichika had a bit of regret on her face I went into the bathroom.

After slapping my face with water, I let out a loud sigh.

I've really had less in control in these sort of situations lately, and while I still had some self-awareness, I however would always get carried away, and needed to reflect on it for now.

I told her before that I was originally a conservative person, and didn't like trying anything new.

It could be said that I was a complete blockhead, even if someone asked "what do you want to do with your love", I wouldn't have any special answers for that sort of question.

But now... if there's something that she wants to do, or if there's something that will make her happy, I want to do it for her without having any regrets.

After all, my intention for doing these sorts of things, was just to see more of her various expressions.

(To get over this.... No, although it's a bit strange to evaluate myself that way, I guess that I've started doing things that match my age.)

But even so, if I do something that distresses my lover, I still need to reflect on it.

While I was thinking about this, I lowered myself into the bathtub full of hot water, and tried to wash my troubles away in the water——

"Hm?"

Suddenly, I heard her voice in my ears, and at the same time, I shifted my gaze towards the bathroom door.

——The bathroom door slowly opened.

"......Can we take a bath together?"

I lost to her.

That surrender-like word passed through my mind.

Her tempting figure wrapped in a bath towel appeared outside the door, and she secretly glanced at me.

The long hair which was coiled behind her head, her bare shoulders, and her fair legs, all caught my attention.

"....Is it no good?"

She would have rushed in without saying anything, this was definitely revenge for my earlier actions...

"No, don't worry about those trivial things, hurry up and come in, you'll catch a cold just standing there."

"Nn, thank you."

Did she get rid of her feelings of embarrassment? Or did the reason for her hesitation disappear while I was in the bath?

This is a convenient dream for one such as I. Of a future to come that may or may not happen on a stroke of good luck. Although, no one knows for sure whether what’s happening now is an illusion or reality itself. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that it is a treasured time of mine.

The time that I can spend with her without any distractions in the way is calm, peaceful; warm and welcoming. It’s really heartwarming. And even if I’m still unsure of it, I’m pretty certain that these feelings blooming within my chest are real.

Heh~? So this is the famed Hot-Spring Inn in Kyoto? What tasteful preferences you have. We could have gone overseas, you know. Who would have thought that you’d be okay with just a trip to the Hot Springs?

Collar x Malice -Unlimited- Kageyuki Shiraishi’s Epilogue (Translation by: Rhith)

Rhith: This translation was done around 2018. Contains spoilers for Unlimited as this scene takes place during the epilogue of Shiraishi’s route. I haven’t finished translating the epilogue entirely. So for those who may be interested to see what has transpired, please be warned that this is not spoiler-free. If you are happy to proceed, please read on ahead. You have been warned!

Shiraishi, who was under the special protection of the police, was cooperating with the police investigations, several years after the fact; avoiding prosecution.

Seeing as there has been an increase in the number of cases being resolved due to his cooperation, Shiraishi's treatment has been under repeated discussions from various perspectives.

Recently, though the surveillance and limitations of his travel distance still linger, he was permitted to go outside regularly.

Ichika Hoshino:

"Hmm... Are you reading a book today?"

Today is the day he got permission to go out.

The place where Shiraishi and I would head out to has always been decided beforehand.

Shiraishi nodded, pointing at the picture book in the paper bag.

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"When you turn over the page, the picture pops out. I think this will keep them interested."

Ichika Hoshino:

"Hehe, your storytelling is as popular as ever."

Shiraishi had started volunteering to do storytelling at a childcare facility.

I also help out over there part-time, but I can say that that place is different from what you'd call a nursing home.

...Because it's a place where orphans of Adonis come together.

In the Adonis training facilities, children were brainwashed throughout their childhood.

From arrested child devotees to children who didn't have any relatives―everything.

Although kindergarteners have not been brainwashed yet, ordinary nursing homes refused to take them in, and so it was decided that they'd be placed in a special facility.

It seems that Shiraishi's involvement with the children posed to be quite a problem at first.

(From a third party's perspective, it's only natural that they deem his involvement to be dangerous. But...)

Because he's experienced who spent time in the training facility, only he can lead the children back to the proper path.

His behaviour during his rehabilitation period so far was also taken into consideration, and thus his offer was finally accepted.

In order to make the children enjoy themselves even for a little bit, Shiraishi had no choice but to pick out books they may like.

"Even if it's just for a little bit... if the kids feel like they're having fun, then that's enough for me."

"The world is full of happiness and fun things they have not seen yet. What they have now is nothing close to everything."

"It would be nice if those kinds of feelings would help them in the future should they face hardships in life."

"...Yeah."

Looking up at the sky, the sun shines brightly above.

Ichika Hoshino:

"The weather hasn't been great lately, but the weather today is great for doing some laundry."

"While you're reading stories to the kids, I'll work hard to get all the laundry done!"

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"Are you alright? That always looks like a lot of work. I'll help you out if it's okay once I'm finished."

Ichika Hoshino:

"It's fine! I may not look like it, but I have great confidence with my physical strength!"

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"Really? I seem to recall you staggering quite a lot carrying a bag of groceries back then..."

Ichika Hoshino:

"That's because you bought a few things we didn't even plan to buy in the first place!"

As we exchanged thoughtless remarks, the facility soon came into view.

Once we arrived at the facility, I readily began to wash the children's sheets.

If it's only one piece, then it's not very heavy. But if there's several of them piled up... It gets a bit troublesome.

The sheets hanging on the clothes line began to flap.

As soon as I finished washing them, the sheets seem to have dried already as if absorbing the warmth of the sunlight, making it appear fluffy as it swayed in the wind.

After checking their drying condition, I turn my attention to the remaining half of the laundry in the basket, and―

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"You sure are working hard. I'm already finished with the storytelling so I've come to give you a hand."

Shiraishi starts drying the sheets by attaching them onto a clothes peg.

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"Ehhh... Won't the crease disappear by itself and become all fluffy when you leave it to dry?"

Ichika Hoshino:

"It most certainly won't. If anything, it'll be very crusty and stiff!"

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"Crusty... That doesn't sound good."

With a pensive expression on his face, Shiraishi hurriedly stretches out the creases carefully.

"This is quite a hassle. Why can't you just use a dryer?"

Ichika Hoshino:

"Because if I let it dry outside, the smell of the sun will linger on them, and I really like that. It's warm and comfortable too."

"Don't you think it would be wonderful if even such a tiny thing as that could be felt by everyone here?"

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"...Yeah. I think that'd be pretty nice too. Alongside with your homecooking, this labour is filled with so much love."

We carefully air out the sheets to dry, one sheet after the other.

With our field of vision slowly being enveloped with white, we finish airing out the final sheet to dry.

The first batch of sheets that was washed and hung up were already dry.

Ichika Hoshino:

"...Right! At this rate, the others will soon be dry as well."

I picked up the sheets that had already started to dry, thinking that I should take them in first when―

"Aaahh―!"

There was a strong gust of wind, making the sheets seem ready to be blown away.

"I'm sorry, Shiraishi. Can you give me a han―"

As I was about to look back and call out to him, I was suddenly hugged from behind.

"Huh...?"

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"Can you stay like this for a while and listen to what I have to say?"

I stopped moving, hearing those words said beside my ear.

Ichika Hoshino:

It was so painful and so full of sorrow, that there were times where I thought about not standing up.

But then, if I didn't and just continued to live on peacefully, I knew there would be things I wouldn't be able to obtain then.

"Shiraishi, please let me ask you questions from time to time."

"Right now, are you... Are you happy to be with me?"

Kageyuki Shiraishi:

"...I thought it was enough for me to see you alive. But even so, just like this I, too, continue to live on like this."

"No... that's not right. It's why I'm... alive right now. I'm so happy that everything seems extravagant and dazzling to me."

Collar X Malice - Unlimited - Spoiler Free Mini Review

- Unlimited - revisits the World and stories of Collar x Malice in varied ways. There are After Stories (also referred to as Epilogues) for the 5 Love Interests from the first game. Side stories that focus on (you guessed it) side characters plus the so called ADONIS mode which will give you the chance to find out more about the organizations members.

+ As with the first game both art and music are very nice. It's a blend between content from the previous entry, which gave a nice sense of nostalgia, and newly created sprites and music. I'll address the elephant in the room: considering the allegations against H*namarua M*i I did feel a little... odd looking at the art. But I'll have to take it at face value for now since there hasn't been any more news and the art - as we see it in game - looks good (aside from a few weird anatomy situations).

+ After Stories (Epilogue). These are probably what people have been looking forward to the most. It's nice to see these characters again and even more so to see how they act in a relationship. Personally I very much enjoy seeing how couples are once they're officially together (not just to the point until they get together) so I loved these. Obviously some stories more than others, we all have our favorites and so on. But overall I found all of them enjoyable and I think there's nice variation of fluff and drama between the stories. The only thing I'd like to remark is that there aren't a lot of puzzles, though I haven’t really made up my mind on how I feel about that. Because on one hand it’s nice they put more of a focus on the day to day lives, but on the other I do enjoy some good puzzles. So I’m kind of in the middle here and just wanted to point it out because the first game did have more.

+ Side Stories. There are 3 stories in total that consist of 2 parts each. I very much loved two of them, the third felt a little forced in my opinion (you’ll see which one I mean once you get there) but either way I think all of them are a nice addition for those that would have liked to spend some more time with certain side characters in the main game.

+ ADONIS. I'll be honest I loved this. Even if I do love me some sprakly butterfly Otome that Aksys seems to be against so much there’s definitely a big part of me loving dark and morally challenging stories. I don't even want to say too much but this mode was right up my alley and I hope people can get into it unspoiled. As I said in the beginning here’s where you’ll have the chance to find out more about each Adonis members, their motivations and stories. This obviously includes their leader (which a lot of people have always wanted to find out more about - me included). This mode may seem a little confusing at first but once you start playing it’s actually quite simple but still effective. The (true) ending was done well and I do think that ADONIS is a great way to say goodbye to the world of Collar x Malice.

- The limited edition feels like minimal effort. And not just for - Unlimited -, personally I find none of the LE Aksys puts out appealing. Compared to all of the content the Japanese version got we’re really getting the short end of the stick here. Again, this is how I feel about it. I’d love to buy some LE Otoge but not like this.

- The localization. I specifically chose “localization” because most people seem to be talking about translation which isn’t quite it in my opinion. Especially putting this game on Google Translate level. As someone who has played my fair share of Google Translate-esque Otome I can reassure you that C x M - Unlimited - is still far from that. I think to be on GT level it has to be at a point where you can’t even understand what’s going on at least half of the time, which is not the case here.

-- BUT there are some major problems. I’ve already talked about this previously so I’ll be keeping things a little more brief here...

My biggest issue is that the game often times feels unpleasant to read. Which is obviously a big problem for a visual novel. The game cuts sentences in a weird way that makes you wonder if part of it is missing - which is my main gripe cause this is a constant thing. There’s random numbers that shouldn’t even be there in the text, off wording and even coding issues (text outside the box or in places it shouldn’t be,...). So as I’ve said previously I do think that it’s difficult to put something with this much text out and do a completely flawless job. If there were some spelling mistakes here and there I wouldn’t mind it that much. In C x M - Unlimited - however there are times when it will be one mistake after the next in a consistent manner (Takeru’s AS is  w i l d), then things will be perfectly fine again for a little while only to jump back to paragraphs of odd words, text outside the box or just awkward wording. It kind of feels like some of the employees took their work seriously and tried to put a good product out while the other half slept on their keyboard.

Conclusion: should you buy this? If you’re a big fan of the original I do think so, yes. I don’t really like the idea of boycotting or anything like that, I don’t think that’ll get us anywhere. Especially if you liked the original you shouldn’t deprive yourself of this experience. But we do have to hold Aksys accountable for what they’ve done. Because even if the Otome fanbase is struggling to get releases we shouldn’t just be happy getting Otoge at all - we do want quality.

Again this game is still far from some of the other bad localizations we’ve had to deal with, you’ll always understand what’s going on. However, I do have to say that the price of 50€ for the game - as it is right now - is not acceptable. I wouldn’t mind paying that price for a VN with great localization, but as you can see currently this game has too many issues to call it that. So if you’d like to hold off that’s perfectly understandable. Aksys is aware of their displeased fans so now it’s on them to take action.

I do think that we are a well- and outspoken fandom, so if you haven’t yet consider writing Aksys a polite email about the issues with - Unlimited -. Especially so if you’re reluctant about buying the game in it’s current state.

In short: Great game, as of now not so great localization. Let’s hope they put out a patch and - even more importanlty - that they’ll do better next time. Piofiore’s release is not that far off after all.

Collar x Malice is not quite as good as Code:Realize I'd say but it's still good. It's a very interesting look into individual morality and justice, as well as a critical commentary on police negligence and corruption.

Note, it's viewed through a very Japanese lense so some things may not be applicable to the western situation but it's been making me think a lot about my own moral code and lemme tell ya, it's been a ride

Unfortunately the translation is not...the best, I'd even go so far as to say that it veers into Blind Idiot Translation at some points. It's still perfectly playable tho

I also really really really love my trash husband Shiraishi, so if you're into really drastic but heartwarming character development...

Ichika is also a pretty good protagonist, an interesting mix of reckless, easily flustered and a little dense with unwavering conviction to protect the people

So I guess you could say I'd recommend it, yeah. Especially if you enjoy suspence and crime with a nice side of romance.

Should it sound like something you'd enjoy it's only on Switch and Playstation Vita, and idk if the switch sale is still available. Also, if you do decide to buy it be careful that you don't accidentally buy Collar x Malice Unlimited because that's the fandisk
