If you have to willingly go out of your way to dig up problematic material on a person, some of which has been apologized for and given context, and are completely unwilling to understand how people outside the US/UK regard problematic content (example: not being aware of certain slurs or their significance) then I genuinely don’t believe you care about the issue but are trying to tear down an individual to look better

to me, Kulve Taroth is Colombian (more specifically, Muisca)
LIKE OKAY LISTEN .
her locale is litcherally called the caverns of El Dorado, a legend which is in part inspired by the Laguna de Guatavita where the Muisca Indigenous peoples used to have ceremonies
She has both Gold and Emeralds, and her body is the color of coal, three of the most abundant and mined resources in Colombia
she has the hips that don't lie, AND her alpha+ layered armor has shakira hair lmao
she's hot as fuck (in both senses :3c) (okay in the mountainous regions it isnt as hot but u get the point)
there wasn't a lot of resources on Muisca clothing but i drew katie in Muisca clothing to the best of my ability !! if you are Muisca / know of other resources for Muisca clothing and I messed up pls lmk so i can fix it <33

After years of Greek, Roman and Byzantine histories, both in Podcast and Books, I took a step forward in time to Mike Duncan’s Revolutions podcast.
After 6 months of listening to the English, American, French, Spanish ReConquista of South America, Haitian and Mexican Revolutions, I have popped out bleary eyed and squinting into the 20th century’s 1920s.
I still have the Russian Revolution to go (and a few odd Cold War books) but I find myself missing the Ancient World.

I was reading some fanfics, never thought of shipping anyone in Narcos
But DAMN?! What a GREAT ship Pacho and Miguel are, like??!?? Hot, good looking, and miguel just gives me the vibe that if somebody grabs him the right way (the right way being by his hips), it's going to fucking dismantle him, i swear

I haven't blogged about it here and I'm not really gonna do it right now but a big scandal right now is a Colombian born US ambassador who turns out to have been a Cuban spy for forty fuckin years and the whole story is just so funny. like, bad, from a national security standpoint, obviously. but also funny.
they got the guy because some dude went on whatsapp pretending to be Cuban intelligence and asked, "are you still a comrade?" and guy here fucking lost his shit.
In one extraordinary passage, Rocha – belying his genteel image among fellow diplomats – espoused raw macho pride in his achievements after his accomplice said the DGI wanted to know if he was still a “compañero” (comrade). “I am angry. I’m pissed off,” he said. “It’s like questioning my manhood … It’s like you want me to drop them … and show you if I still have testicles. I have them. I have them.” (x)

I grew up eating.L bean soup + rice that my dad cooks bc that’s like, a Colombian staple, and I know the general seasonings that go into it and my dad taught us cooking growing up so it’s not like I’d never seen the process
But also his style of cooking isn’t exactly recipe or exact measurements bc he’s been doing it for years , but I swear when I do it I almost never get the seasoning right and I’m never sure what it is i did wrong, like If I was missing something or had too much of something or both or what!!!

lol people are arguing if rachel zegler is a white latina again so she can play snow white because she isn't pale, she's tan.
i'm the only latina weighing in and they have absolutely no concept of race whatsoever aside from the basic "dark = not white" "tan = not white" "pale = white" which doesn't account for anywhere outside of the western world

Tried watching Narcos and the actor playing Escobar had a really bad accent when speaking Spanish (which I know is tough because he’s technically Brazilian, but he sounded like a Spaniard), so that ruined the immersion for me. I exited when I saw mariachis in full charo suits. At least they actually filmed in Colombia!

Washington, D.C., June 10, 2024 – Today, an eight-member jury in West Palm Beach, Florida, found Chiquita Brands International liable for funding a violent Colombian paramilitary organization, the United Self-defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), that was responsible for major human rights atrocities during the 1990s and 2000s. The weeks-long trial featured testimony from the families of the nine victims in the case, the recollections of Colombian military officials and Chiquita executives, expert reports, and a summary of key documentary evidence produced by Michael Evans, director of the National Security Archive’s Colombia documentation project.
“This historic ruling marks the first time that an American jury has held a major U.S. corporation liable for complicity in serious human rights abuses in another country,” according to a press release from EarthRights International, which represents victims in the case.
