The Long Game for Your Soul
Poet and essayist Heather Cadenhead publishes a monthly newsletter about her life as a writer and mother of two sons, one of whom is diagnosed with non-speaking autism. In an article titled, “The Road He Took: A Lenten Reading of Robert Frost’s ‘The Road Not Taken'” contrasts the Frost’s “fork in the road” with the temptation of Christ. It is a well written and thoughtful article and one section…

We Only Live Once -- Really?
When we served for Hospice Austin’s Camp Braveheart last June, I walked past this chalkboard art. I quickly backed up to read it, took a picture of it and here I am sharing it with you today. Aw! We have to love Charles Schultz’s “Peanuts”. This time a chalk artist gave us a great comeback after Charlie Brown said “We only live once!” I love Snoopy’s reply: “Wrong, we only have to die once. We…

"DON'T WAIT UNTIL THANKSGIVING TO THANK HIM!"
Read: 1 Chronicles 16:7-36 “O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever” (1 Chronicles 16:34 AMP) We often think of Gratitude in terms of Gain: Someone gives you a ride to work. A neighbor cooks a meal when you’ve had surgery. Your boss notices your hard work and gives you a raise. The kids clean up the house or your husband cooks dinner. For…

Amazingly Trustworthy
A consistent God faithfulness helps us become trustworthy. Just A Thought on how amazingly trustworthy our God is and how we can become more like Him. Enjoy!
Do pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may speed on (spread rapidly and run its course) and be glorified (extolled) and triumph, even as [it has done] with you, And that we may be delivered from perverse (improper, unrighteous) and wicked (actively malicious) men, for not everybody has faith and is held by it. Yet the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen [you] and set you on a firm…

Church notes - January 2025 5th Acts 16:31

Hope We have a hope in Jesus.
Don't let all the good ideas, themes and hope of Christmas be packed away.
The foundation for the new year is in the true meaning of Christmas
Jesus is the Redeemer, Shepherd and Friend Redeemer - He took Sin's penalty on Himself. Isaiah 53:3 Colossians 3:13, 14
All we need to do is to take up that gift.
Doubts can surface. But it is certain, because it relies on Jesus, not on us. He shepherds us through the ups and downs of life.
God is with us in our difficulties.
John 1:14
Hebrews 2:14 - 18
He became flesh and blood in order to save us.

God has made our eternal salvation free and simple. It is free to us because the Lord Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins when He died on the cross in our place, bearing the punishment that rightfully belonged to us. Isaiah prophesied this truth, saying “Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and…

Part 3- Can Any Good Thing Come From Laodicea?
“Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” Revelation 1:11 Last Time… I believe the Bible to be the most exhaustive and self-sustaining "little book" of all time.…

Steadfast Faith in Christ: Standing Tall and Moving Forward
In this critical time, we are called to elevate our faith and broaden our understanding of the grand mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Photo by Jordan Steranka on Unsplash Standing a little taller with steadfastness of faith in Christ requires a resolute commitment to His teachings and a deep trust in His divine will. As 1 Corinthians 16:13 encourages us, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” This verse calls us to be vigilant, firm, and courageous in our faith. It’s about embracing a strength that…

Saturday Soliloquy: Blessings
It’s a gorgeous day today. breezy and sunny. A perfect day to honor a new baby who will arrive in April, which is what we did this morning at a baby shower for the mommy of the coming baby. It was a very happy affair, with fun games, good food, and a lot of conversation around several tables. As we enjoyed the festivities, I thought about the fuss we like to make when a new baby is on the way.…
