My idea for an origin for the colony world Combatron and it's culture: in the old days some TF colony worlds had specific purposes: Combatron was a colony world type called a "fortress world". This means that it was a planet in a good interstellar location to prevent alien attacks on Cybertronian space and was thus heavily militarized. There were a few others such as Thrull, based on the planet from the G1 Cartoon, and Archon, based on the planet from Aligned Novels, but Combatron was the most famous. Once contact with Cybertron got cut off, for one reason or another, Combatron's culture continued to mimic the planet's initial purpose even more.
Oh, this can be interesting exploration and divergence between Combatron and Carcer as they're both heavily miltaristic cultures.
I view Carcer as more like a version of armed neutrality along with the concept of the Gray Wardens from Dragon Age Origins. The Carcerians are the descendants that served Liege Maximo, who became their liege lord's wardens until the heat death of everything. Of course, they would develop extremist views on the containment of the Prime and his Titan that aligns with their repentant tribe's new motto: Efficiency. Security. Truth.
Combatron could be something like the Mandalorians from Star Wars and the Death World of Krieg from Warhammer. Both have fantastic ties as they mirror the civil war that decimated and irradiated Combatron. Similar to them, you would need to focus on their version of religion and spirituality with the emphasis of collectiveness, martial arts, and similar lifestyles. Even if you do utilize something more akin to Sparta of Ancient Greece, the Spartans still had all those things to bind them together. Similar issues with pulling ideas from the Vikings as raiders or mercenaries, you still need to work on glue that holds them together.
There's a lot that can be done, depending on direction you want to take. Shoot, you could even tie in something like Braavos from A Song of Fire and Ice and have them engaged in a long, vicious protracted warfare against the Quintesson Empire.
In regards to their worship, it could be interesting to play with the unknown Thirteen as he/they are called the Arisen.
"He who came from nothing, striked the final blow to become everything."
Or perhaps the Combatrians eschew the Thriteen Primes. Yes, the give their respects as all were fearsome warriors that shaped the universe, but they deliver their faith and fervor to the origins of all: Primus and Unicron.
"Much like the ways of the stars, we can not change where are we forged, but the journey after is ours. Conflict is our crucible; enlightenment, our reward."

One wish I have as a transformers fan is to get Combatron in depth. If it is a blasted wasteland I am thinking Mad Max meets Transformers, if not a blasted wasteland than a world with cultural beliefs very similar to Beast Wars Dinobot’s.
OH MAN SERIOUSLY I really need to get my hands on the book that apparently has a short story about it. I wanna know about King Atlas more and his abduction by Unicron.
I wanna know more about UT Whirl and his loyalties. I wanna know about the war there were things that went to shit the moment they lost their king.
I wanna reaaaad it.
Its such a shame it never made it to the Cybertron cartoon.
Honestly Dinobot would be perfect to place in either Jungle Planet (which I am calling Animatron) or Combatron if he was a UT character.

i dunno if you are till taking requests or not but if you are, could you please write a drabble about megatorm being perceived by the rest of the destron troops, either good or badly percieved.
(assuming that before bw2 started the destron crew was part of a bigger destron army)
thank youuu
My requests are always open for BWII. Have some nameless soldiers speculating.
Drabble under the cut!
BWII Destrons & Megastorm
“Hey, doesn’t he frighten you, that Megastorm?” The mess hall of the Galvaburg I, the primary Destron flagship, was large enough that the Destron troops who gathered there could feel secure in a sense of anonymity, and conversations like this could arise.
“What, the SIC? He’s nothing but a meek fool.” The mech who’d spoken was an experienced general. Several younger soldiers murmured their agreement, a few laughing quietly, others looking more unnerved to hear such blatant disrespect at the expense of a member of High Command, their leader’s brother, no less.
“You wouldn’t get it! An Autoroller like you always ends up on missions directed by Galvatron. Megastorm’s different when he commands alone.” The Combatron who’d spoken glanced over his shoulder nervously as if the unruly Prince of Destruction might show up at any moment, while his partner nodded in agreement.
“Different, how?” The Autoroller general replied.
“Cold, sneaky… More reserved than our Emperor.”
More troopers approached the table, pushing up seats to listen. One interjects, “Sure. One time I was under his command, he called a retreat because the Cybertrons were acting strange. We thought he was being cowardly, but it turned out they had a new weapon and were planning an ambush. Our squad owes our lives to that call.”
“Feh, as if he could have known. When I was under his command, he went behind Galvatron’s back and ordered a raid of an abandoned Cybertron base. He showed no care when one of us got nearly crushed by disturbed rubble, and when Galvatron discovered his ploy, he tried to initiate the self-destruct to trap our leader inside. We all saw it!”
A shocked muttering passes through the crowd.
“So,” someone says at last, “Megastorm or Galvatron, who would you rather have as leader?”
“Who knows?” Grins another, “but if Megastorm became Emperor, well… I’d want to stay on his good side. Don’t underestimate him, you know?”
"Wise words." The voice that spoke up was tensely authoritative, recognised instantly by the gathered troops, although the speaker it belonged to was known to many as usually speaking in a much higher, more anxious tone.
"M-Megastorm!" The troopers part a path, shrinking back at once under the scrutiny of the Second in Command.
"Megastorm, what?"
There was a beat of silence, then the Combatron who'd started the conversation tentatively said, "Megatron, Prince of Destruction?"
Megastorm's derma curled into a smile. "Emperor of Desctruction, one day. Don't underestimate me!" With that, the Destron SIC turned and left the mess hall, his troopers staring after him.

How many Titans do we need? (Transformers)
A list of Titans, from various continuities, which may not even be up to date in the sense it doesn't reflect the Titan Class toys of Decepticon Nemesis and Autobot Ark.
Planet    Associations  Titan
Antilla    history, rust, Alpha Trion   Croaton?
Aquatron   water, Quintus Prime   Quintessa (Necrotitan)
Aquatron (Jellyfish City)  water     Hydratron

Unicron    Galvatron    Nemesis (Titan)
Velocitron   speed, Amalgamus Prime   Navitas Delta (Ogygia)
This seems way too many to keep track of for one "All Media Types" continuity soup fanfic continuity. So, I need to combine where I can and reduce the list to the best most interesting and necessary ones.
(Soon, I have characters out scouting to find which ones are being built first.)
Opinions on which are most interesting or necessary?

So I have a theory
An Earthspark theory
The Terrans represent different Transformer planets/species/types, at least 7 of them:
Twitch: I want to say Caminus or Antila but I'm more convinced she represents either Prion or Cybertron, mostly due to her combination of swords and gun arm.
Thrash: Junkion due to his original color scheme and his no rules attitude as well as the fact that he has a shield and goggles. I would also say Velocitron due to his speedy alt mode and the goggles (which were sported by a Velocitron in the Cybertron anime)
Hashtag: Caminus, in her CitySpeaker abilities and her design sports a ponytail, which might be inspired by a character like Windblade.
Jawbreaker: Eukaris, given his shared name with a Maximal and Dinobots in particular, as his design echos some of the design elements of Transmetal 2.
Nightshade: Techno-Organics and Biosfera in particular due to their design having elements of the Beast Machines cartoon aesthetic in some ways (ie sleek body but little to no backpack or kibble in robot mode)
Spitfire: Devisun, due to the fact that she looks like Twitch and looks like her twin.
Aftermath: Combatron or Charr, if so for his rather aggressive nature and his alt mode being rather combat ready. I'd also say Junkion because of his alt mode being a tow truck and punk rocker attitude.
It's a work in progress but that's my feelings.

Transformer Insignias, G1 Cartoon style
Fucked around with CAD software recently, making some SVGs that I then modified in Inkscape - I know, making SVG images in CAD software; not something you hear of every day.
Anyway, I was re-vectorizing some of the insignias, and I suddenly had a thought:
Why not go the extra mile and color 'em to look kinda like the G1 versions of the emblems?
So I did. I fired up GIMP, set to work on the gradients (I shit you not, it was a pain in the ass), did some other things, and badda bing badda boom!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's just the first ten out of the 39 I re-vectorized. The remaining 29, plus an original-creation, will be up soon. In order:
Autobot
Decepticon
Maximal
Predacon
Combatron (upside-down G2 Autobot)
Cybertronian (G2 Decepticon, rendered upside down because I feel it looks better like that)
Ascenticon
Primon (also a mark indicating a Prime in the IDW Hasbroverse)
Optimus (the good guys of the Brazilian Estrella Transformers toyline)
Malignus (also from the Brazilian Transformers toyline by Estrella; no points for guessing their morality)
I know some of the colors don't really line up, but I had to differentiate them somehow.

Y'know, when I saw that Combatron headcannon ask, referring to it as a "fortress world" + what purpose it served, I couldn't help but think of Cadia from Warhammer 40k, which is also referred to as a Fortress World.
Both in this situation served similar purpose, with Combatron meant to guard a sector of Cybertronian space from the Quintessons and other aggressors, while Cadia guarded the most stable warp route from the Eye of Terror to prevent mass Chaos Forces from invading the Imperium.
That would have been great! Combatron was said to be a garrison for Autobot warriors and a giant weapons arsenal before it went full on apocalyptic.
I went with Krieg as inspiration because of the lore of how the Loyalists took back the planet and brutally refashioned themselves into a Death World and War World. The civil war on Combatron matches well with it, especially since the entire planet was irrational as well.

For the leader of Combatron in the present I would like it to be Obsidian, Strika, or Obsidian and Strika as equal partners.
Oh Strika is a fun choice! Would be a fun to make a parallel to Override on Velocitron? I'm not familiar enough with Obsidian alas.

The team that would become the Commandos/Combatrons were once Autobots sent to Earth long ago to find Fortress Maximus/Brave Maximus. Their ship crashed, and the crew were kept in stasis pods until around the year 2000 CE, where they were found and revived by Megatron/Gigatron and his Predacons/Destrons. Infused with the evil within Gigatron's Spark, they awoke as Decepticons. They were purposefully awakened near a military base, and scanned the vehicles present. The members are:
Mega Octane, leader, heavy truck
Armorhide, tank
Rollbar, Jeep-adjacent vehicle
Rotor, helicopter
Movor, shuttle
They exhibit a level of cohesion typically unseen by Transformers villain teams: all of the others follow orders by Mega Octane, who in turn follows orders from Scourge/Black Convoy or Gigatron. Their unity is also their secret weapon- Combination.
Tumblr media
"Ruination: Awaken!"
Unlike most Decepticon combiners, Ruination retains rationality and has full use of their mental faculties. The secret? The other bots all cede control to Mega Octane, instead of trying to take over the combined form. This allows them to use their military might to it's full potential.
The Commandos re-use the molds for the G1 Combaticons, being Onslaught, Brawl, Swindle, Vortex, and Blast Off. As such, Ruination is a "Scramble City-style' combiner, able to freely swap limbs with others of the same type and swap who forms what limb. They also come with quite a few extra parts for the combined mode- feet, fists, chestplate, and helmet. Unfortunately, I've lost one of their fists and Rollbar's small blaster, but i found a way to use Armorhide's turrets to make a makeshift hand. Movor is also missing the top fin of shuttle mode, but it fits his blaster in there. Finally, Rollbar's leg slider has given out, and can't support his weight. He's now permanently short, which limits how I can rearrange the team. The configuration i used here works nicely though, and incorporates all their pieces that I still have.
