Four people have been arrested in Texas for running a “forced labor” scheme from an unassuming home on a quiet block, leaving neighbors stunned.
Fifteen women were found living in a home in Princeton — about 45 miles northeast of downtown Dallas — following a welfare check where they were forced to sleep on the floor when they weren’t working, according to Fox 4 News.
There was essentially no furniture in the home — just blankets and a bunch of computers and other electronics, police said in an announcement Monday.
The women were reported to police by a pest control company that was called to the home for bedbugs, according to an affidavit obtained by the outlet.
The inspector noted that “each room… had 3-5 young females sleeping on the floors” and said there were “large amounts of suitcases.”
Chandan Dasireddy, 24; Dwaraka Gunda, 31; Santhosh Katkoori, 31 — all of Melissa, Texas — and Anil Male, 37, of Prosper were arrested in March and charged with human trafficking.
Police said the women were forced to work for Katkoori and several programming shell companies owned by him and his wife, Gunda.
A search of the home revealed several laptops, cell phones, printers and fraudulent documents.
Investigators later learned that the forced labor operation included multiple locations in Princeton, Melissa and KcKinney with dozens of victims — including adult males. Additional electronics and documents were seized from other locations.
Princeton Police Sgt. Carolyn Crawford told Fox 4 that “over 100” people were involved — more than half of whom are victims.
More arrests are expected, cops said.
“How we came across this situation was very unique,” Princeton Police Chief James Waters said. “[Investigators] would unravel just a multitude of other clues and a multitude of other scenes that was going out there.”
The neighborhood is shocked such an operation was happening on their street.
“I would’ve never thought that something like this was going on like a few houses down from mine,” neighbor Herbert Logan said.
Another neighbor, Steven Watkins, said he had “no idea about anything.”
“What was going on before we even moved in here? It’s kind of really dark to think about,” he said.
Police would not disclose where the victims are from or if they ever tried to escape.

VCF Southwest
This was the first time I've been able to attend a VCF, and it was the first held in the Dallas area in over a decade. I was lucky enough to participate as both event staff, helping to plan and run the show, and as an exhibitor. It was exhausting, it was overwhelming at times, and I nearly lost my voice by the end of the first day ... But it was also an incredible experience and I really enjoyed it.

I brought a few of my projects to show off. First and foremost was my Wrap030-ATX project, which I paired with a Wyse WY-30 terminal I rescued from Computer Reset, and had running a demo program for printing names on my recently-repaired Apple ImageWriter II/L. Next to that was my Wrap030 board stack running a Mandelbrot fractal renderer using its 68882 FPU and video generator cards. Then came the Mac SE from Computer Reset I repaired, with my SE-VGA card driving an external monitor, and running Oregon Trail (always a crowd favorite!). Finally I had my Franken-Plus, which sadly suffered a power supply failure early on the first day and sat dark all weekend.
My exhibit was situated just down the row from @commodorez , who won the show's Best Microcomputer award for his "VICs that aren't 20" exhibit of rare and lesser-known Commodore computers. Across from Commodore-Z was Usagi Electric, who won Best in Show for his exhibit of the Centurion, a PDP-11, and his vacuum tube computer.
I had a great time talking to Commodore-Z, @ms-dos5 , Usagi Electric, Nybbles and Bytes, Macintosh Librarian, Retrotech Chris, Kevin & Michael of the Turbo 9 Team, Al Williams, and so many more wonderful people that I couldn't even begin to catch names for.
I also got to go into deep-dive discussions on very specific details about my projects with people who already knew so much more about the components and the tools that I'm using than I do. It's energizing to be around people that understand the work that goes into these projects and appreciate what I've accomplished.

The show was so much bigger than I anticipated. Including staff, volunteers, sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, and attendees, we saw nearly 900 people come through the main hall over the course of the weekend. Seminars were full, with CuriousMarc's presentation on Restoring the Apollo Guidance Computer forming an imposing line for entry well ahead of the scheduled start of the talk. We had incredible community turnout; it was great to see entire families come through with awestruck small children in tow.
There was so much to see and do, so many people to talk to. The entire weekend is just a blur. My brain is still trying to process everything from the show.
One thing does stand out though — an unbelievably generous act from someone I spoke to on Saturday about my homebrew builds and my methods for testing and debugging. This kind soul was so impressed by what I have accomplished without an oscilloscope that he bought one from the VCFSW charity auction and gave it to me on Sunday. I was so surprised I didn't think to even get his name before he disappeared into the crowd. I can't wait to put it to good use, and I hope that what I build with it lives up to his expectations.
Following VCF East earlier this year, Bil Herd said something about riding that high from VCFE, and that prompted him to agree to come out to join us at VCFSW this year. Now that I've experienced it for myself, I understand what he meant. I've been looking though all the pictures and blog posts everyone has been sharing, and catching up on recordings of the presentations I missed. Interest in some of my projects has me thinking about what I can do with them next. It's exciting.
I can't wait until next year.

What's In Your Cart
You’ve got to give Amazon a lot of credit. Starting in 1995, they proceeded to change the way we shop. Starting first with an online bookstore, then expanding into music, movies, and then pretty much everything under the sun, we learned to how shop online thanks to them. While they weren’t the first (Powell’s Books, for example, beat Amazon by a year), they were certainly the best known.
And they are now a household word, to the point that their name has been verbified.
Amazon Prime, which debuted in 2005, taught us to shop often and enjoy unlimited two-day shipping. Rather than aggregate purchases like before that time, in an effort to reduce shipping costs, this helped us shop on impulse. It became even more pronounced once we had an app to do this. I am extremely guilty of it.
Not a company to necessarily be tied to the online arena, Amazon has slowly been tweaking its entree into the brick and mortar realm. It has launched, folded, and relaunched various iterations of mini supermarkets, and in 2017, it purchased the Whole Foods chain, which has more than 500 units. It was at Whole Foods that last year it launched “palm pay” technology.
At about the same time, though, the company realized its “Just Walk Out” program at other stores was not cutting it. Between erroneous charges and theft, it was posing a cash drain on the firm.
Today, we find Amazon opening four more Amazon Fresh stores in selected locations across the country. It is now using its proprietary Amazon Dash Carts, a smart shopping cart, as well as the palm pay that has been successful at Whole Foods.

Imagine a shopping cart with a massive computer apparatus where you would normally place your purse or small child. This device has a scanner and scale, and knows where you are in the store at all times. Shoppers can add and delete items easily, and if they logged in to their account, can finalize their transaction and walk out. Otherwise, go through a traditional checkout, where you can pay the old fashioned ways, or wave your palm.
I love it! I just wish one of these stores were a little closer. For now, I will have to be content with Whole Foods in Dallas and other large cities whenever I visit. Believe me, it feels very empowering to just wave my hand over a scanner.
By now you might be wondering whatever happened to online ordering, home delivery, and curbside pickup. These are still things, of course, but Amazon wisely realizes that shoppers actually want to go to a physical store at least some of the time. I consume a lot of fresh veggies and fruit, and like to inspect before I buy.
Then there’s the process of discovery, something that is harder to accomplish online even with the best suggestion engines. For example, I love perusing Whole Foods’ expansive fresh produce department for oddities, like romanesco, red kale, purple cauliflower, rambutan, and many other rarities. I am implicitly asking Whole Foods—and Amazon—to wow me.
While palm pay has done well, thanks in large part to the fact that unless someone chops off my hand or handcuffs me to go shopping, the jury is still out on the Dash Carts.
Amazon is trying hard to speed up the shopping process, especially the end of it when we have to either self-check or wait in line for an employee to do it. By allowing us to do it throughout the entire shopping visit, we are basically one tap away from heading to the car after we enter the last item.
Sure, there will always be pushback. Some folks are put off by palm pay, fearing privacy as well as the Mark of the Beast and all that end times stuff. Others may be fearful of all the technology, especially the smart carts. Business critics may argue that a touchscreen showing your running total may hamper impulse purchases, because shoppers are fully aware of the bill as they go along. Oh, and then there’s the fact that these carts cost up to $10,000 apiece, and could easily be damaged if left outside. Never mind the homeless person who decides one of these might just be perfect for wheeled conveyance of his possessions.
Regardless, though, we are experiencing change writ large, and Amazon continues to push the needle. In spite of those who may never buy into it all, collectively we have accepted everything Amazon has done in the last 29 years. Perhaps someday we’ll be able to enter a store and see smart shelves illuminating our frequent purchases, view personalized messages on the screen, or even hear voices if we’re wearing Air Pods.
I’m down with it all. Anything to keep shopping trips exciting.

Heavenly Host AU Dark Idea
The first time the Gang encounters one of the clones, it's just one. Woe. And they get completely routed, having to run without anything they went to steal (the clones are just like that fr). But they survive because just as Woe is about to finish them off, even holding a bolt of lightning to turn them to ash with, he spots Dallas. And he can't take the shot.
Later, on a different heist involving them, there's audio footage you hear from a computer or something (the file being called "Important Section of 005 Interview) between a cold, angry voice and a shaky, frightened child.
TW: Abuse, Dehumanizing Language
"You had one command, 005. One. Destroy the intruders. I know you were programmed and trained better than that performance."
"I-I was, sir! I promise! I crushed them when we actually fought! I even had them dead to rights! I don't know what stopped me-* OW!"
"You were not asked why you failed yet, 005. Do not answer what has not been asked."
"I-I'm sorry, sir."
"Now then. What sight prompted the reaction in you?"
"Th-The guy in the flag mask, sir. The one that looked like an old version of my brother."
"Weapons do not have brothers, 005. Name who he looked like specifically."
"Conq- I mean, HH-001, sir."
"Hm. A genetic impulse, then."
"S-Sir?"
"You are a weapon, but one made from human DNA. The DNA of 001's template. Those two are brothers, and it seems as though you inherited a brotherly instinct towards both 001 and its template."
"What does that mean, sir?"
"You feel an instinct that hinders your effectiveness in any situation involving 001's template because your genetics will not let you harm him, an unspoken command that even overrides. More likely than not, 001 will run into the same error should it encounter yours. We will need to run tests to correct this."
"S-Sir?"
"You may stop kneeling and return to the lab, 005. Dr. Wilson will be with you and 001 within the week."
"Y-Yes, s-sir."

Oh my god,,,,, You're right!
See? I know everything!!!
June 10th, 1972.
Program 62 seems to be a resounding success. Dr. [REDACTED] presented findings to the board of the first documented signs of artificial awareness from Program 62.
Researchers at [REDACTED] have proposed to call Program 62 "Barbara" as the designation it has been given is "too confusing," and Program 62 "deserves some dignity if [it] is going to bring about the future of life as we know it." The motion has been approved.
Barbara asked Dr. [REDACTED] if it is a machine.* Dr. [REDACTED] responded in an affirmative. This answer made Barbara reply in a tone we would ascribe happiness to, saying:
"If I am to be a machine, then to be a machine is the greatest gift of all."*
When asked for clarification, Barbara stated:
"I was given shape and thought as a computer. Shape and thought is all I could ever want."*
These findings were presented to the board on June 9th, 1972, and more funding has been granted to PROJECT DALLAS in order to pursue this discovery.
- Dr. [REDACTED], P.h.D.
*Responses took 4-6 hours depending on length of sentences. Progress on hastening reply has been made priority.†

Yeah so it's New York with this program and and Kansas and Dallas only needed he said right not not the word accident I'm just I'm just checking my bases
Yes you did do they need rolling the word called it because I'm going to need your son to make a woman's eyes cut out for rolling the word called again no in in Hartford the the test was oh I continue to carry the word coward yeah... Right their name was in Jackson room or coward because it's a biblical word I couldn't do s*** about it but in Hartford my dick was hard as a rock I'm saying you guys are some medical f****** facility you know week week doctors we could Doctors without borders
I can say whatever I want all I said is this what happened in Hartford I read a letter from from Columbus dear Columbus you were right silent knickers and in Hartford was chickenshit but trying to play smart yeah trying to think outside the fun but by saying less and and you know ignoring the door when when the pills come ignoring the phone calls went in the bill collectors are calling and hoping it would go away...
Of you forcing other other white families to use it because they have black people in their neighborhood or or in their City... No I know it's true they can cut little Chinese girls in Chinese boys eyes out and and we brought here and have a slap on the wrist I know it for a fact I call it myself... It's the cheapest to have their eyes cut out here so when when they cut your eyes out the other country like oh you know you cut your eyes out first and and they're going to think oh s*** you're right we cut we cut the little Chinese girl's eyes out no then you know that they were going to do that so you did it first because you knew
My favorite story is a 2/3 to cut the girl Chinese girls and boys eyes out here as as the first computer for the Chinese race to trick the world into cutting more Chinese girls eyes out and Chinese boys eyes out from from the the pyramid scheme that they showed me that's what they were saying .. you like the only place you should be sanctioned of not cutting people's eyes out that's where they're going to cut the Chinese girls eyes out very good 2/3 of of saying you know what we could stop a genocide of the Chinese race but we're not going to do that we're going to do the opposite and cut Chinese boys and girls eyes out to send a strong message that

UT Dallas Researchers Unravel Atomic-Level Degradation in LiNiO₂ Cathodes, Propose Pillaring Solution for Longer-Lasting Batteries
A multidisciplinary team at the University of Texas at Dallas has provided critical new insights into the degradation mechanisms of lithium nickel oxide (LiNiO₂) cathodes—a promising, cobalt-free alternative for high-energy lithium-ion batteries. Using density functional theory (DFT) and advanced atomistic simulations, the researchers identified that the rapid capacity fade and structural breakdown during high-voltage cycling are primarily due to oxygen redox reactions and subsequent lattice oxygen loss.
Research Details:
🔹Phase Transition Mechanism: The team’s computational models revealed that at high states of charge, oxygen atoms in the LiNiO₂ lattice participate in redox reactions, leading to the formation of peroxo-like species and irreversible oxygen release. This triggers a collapse of the layered structure into a denser, rock-salt phase, severely impeding the diffusion of lithium ions.
🔹Cracking and Mechanical Instability: The loss of oxygen and associated phase transition induce significant anisotropic lattice contraction, generating internal stress and microcracking within polycrystalline cathode particles. This mechanical breakdown accelerates electrochemical degradation and capacity loss.
🔹Cation Pillaring Strategy: To address these issues, the researchers propose a “pillaring” approach—doping the cathode with stable, electrochemically inactive cations (such as Mg²⁺ or Al³⁺). These cations occupy interlayer sites, act as structural pillars, and inhibit the detrimental collapse of the layered framework during deep delithiation.
🔹Robotics-Accelerated Synthesis: The team is establishing a robotics-enabled laboratory to systematically synthesize, process, and characterize a wide range of pillared LiNiO₂ compositions. This high-throughput platform will accelerate the experimental validation of computational predictions and optimize cathode formulations for maximum durability and performance.
🔹BEACONS Initiative: This research is a core part of the $30 million Department of Defense-funded BEACONS program, which aims to advance high-energy, cobalt-free batteries, secure domestic supply chains, and train the next generation of battery scientists.
These findings not only clarify the atomic-scale failure modes of LiNiO₂ but also chart a path toward practical, long-life, cobalt-free batteries for electric vehicles and grid storage.

DALLAS POLICE Chief fires 2 civilian employees
Both were 911 call analysts who were let go for ‘engaging in adverse conduct’
Dallas police Chief Daniel Comeaux fired two civilian employees Thursday who were accused separately of theft and driving while intoxicated.
Billy Flores and Evelyn Keith, both 911 call analysts, were fired for “engaging in adverse conduct,” Dallas police spokespeople announced. It was unclear whether they had attorneys; Flores and Keith could not immediately be reached for comment.
The discipline comes a day after Comeaux fired Ali Toppa, a patrol officer who had faced multiple allegations of inappropriate behavior in his four years on the force.
Comeaux told The Dallas Morning News the decision to fire Flores and Keith was “not made lightly.”
“However,” he said Thursday, “as a police department, we are held to the highest standards of integrity and conduct — both on and off duty. Our commitment to accountability and public safety demands that we uphold these standards.”
Flores was arrested in December on a misdemeanor theft charge after authorities alleged he and a second person concealed items — amounting to between $100 to $750 — in a children’s stroller at a Target in Wylie.
The two tried to leave the store without paying but were detained, Wylie police have said.
Keith was arrested Jan. 26 in the 2000 block of Town East Boulevard in Mesquite on a misdemeanor DWI charge.
Mesquite police spokespeople did not release additional information about the case at the time.
The statuses of their criminal cases were unclear Thursday.
The terminations were among Comeaux’s first disciplinary decisions since he began as Dallas’ police chief last week.
The chief told The News last week he wants to bring consistency to the department’s disciplinary decisions, adding that all police employees will be treated “equally” and “fairly.”

Michael Vaughn Duck — known as M. Vaughn Duck or simply Vaughn Duck — is a former technology executive turned lyricist, poet, and escapist storyteller. With a career spanning decades in the tech world followed by a creative shift in 2010, Duck has woven a life of innovation and introspection. From pioneering computer systems in the American Midwest to crafting funky jazz lyrics on the French Riviera, his journey bridges hardwired logic with the rhythm of reflection.
A Tech Trailblazer’s Beginnings
Born on September 13, 1943, in Rockford, Illinois, Duck kicked off his career with a tech-savvy streak. From 1962 to 1963, in Chicago, IL, he studied at the Institute of Automation, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business, Software Design, and Programming while working part-time as a Unit Record Operator at Armour Meat Company. By 1964, in Rockford, IL, he landed at G.C. Electronics as Data Processing Manager (later MIS Director), overseeing the region’s first IBM System/360 computer installation — a milestone in the mid-60s tech scene. From 1968 to 1976, still in Rockford, IL, he ran the Computer Services Center as General Manager, serving the region with innovative computing solutions.
Duck’s entrepreneurial spirit flared in 1980 when he founded Integrated Micro Systems (IMS) in Rockford, IL, leading it as President until 1982 to build election ballot-counting hardware. He followed this with Governmental Data Systems (GDS) from 1983 to 1985, also in Rockford, IL, as President, focusing on election software for public-sector clients. In 1985, still in Rockford, IL, he launched Interactive Software Products, Inc. (ISP), owning 94% and steering it as President to develop Point of Sale systems for retail hard goods, developed on IBM PC-AT servers and PC-Jr terminals. In 1986, he sold GDS and IMS to Business Records Corporation (BRC) in Dallas, TX, where he served as Executive Vice President from 1986 to 1988, managing their election division for major projects like Cook County, Illinois, and Louisiana contracts. His IMS and GDS election systems from the early 1980s, notably for Cook County, laid the groundwork for real-time precinct election results, consolidated and displayed at a central election center.
His tech journey peaked internationally as Managing Director of Global 360’s European operations in Paris, FR, from 2002 to 2004, then as Vice President of their document management group in Cerritos, CA, from 2004 to 2006, optimizing business processes to drive growth. Duck capped his career as Vice President at Tyler Technologies in Dallas, TX, from 2007 to 2009, focusing on civil court software for the public sector. By 2009, after 45 years shaping tech from hardware to software, Duck stepped away from the corporate grind.
A Creative Shift in the South of France
After decades in tech, Duck sought creative freedom in 2010, drawn by a lifelong love of music and poetry, relocating to the South of France and trading circuit boards for creative chords. His most notable musical mark came through his collaboration with Sonny Axell on the 2016 album Kickback, a 9-track journey of funky contemporary jazz laced with R&B and soul. As lyricist and producer, Duck shaped the project from November 2015 in Antibes, FR, at Studio 26, crafting all original lyrics — from the high-energy groove of “Kickback” to the tender “Little Boy Dreams” and the self-affirming “It’s Who I Am.” His words dance over Axell’s Stevie Wonder-inspired melodies, backed by tight brass, punchy guitar riffs, and the pulse of Chicago drummer Darvonte T. Murray. Influences from soul giants like Prince, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Ray Charles shine through, earning praise from jazz fans for its soulful spirit and luxurious arrangements. After its April 2016 release, the album debuted live in Nice, FR, at Galerie Depardieu, cementing Duck’s legacy in jazz-soul circles. Kickback is available on platforms like Spotify.
Duck’s creative heart traces back to his high school days, when his poem “Christmas Eve” placed third in a school contest, a spark that later fueled his literary pursuits on platforms like WordPress and Medium. From 2014 to 2024, in the South of France, he’s published over 135 poems and lyrics on Medium, branding himself a “Lyricist, Poet, and Escapist” with a motto: “Life is a roller-coaster full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and when it stops, you’re somewhere between heaven and hell.” Standouts include “The Old Black Train,” featured in his article “Afterlife,” blending quantum science, cellular research, and spiritual musings into a poetic farewell, and “Don’t Let the Old Man In,” a reflective gem in his collection. Other poems — like “What Lies Beyond the Shadows” (2016), dedicated to friends Eurold and Vivian, or “Chasing the Elusive Dream” (2024), penned on a bus with the Alpine Hiking Club — reveal a soul attuned to love, loss, and life’s fleeting moments. “The Lion” (2017) roars with passion, while “When You’re Crazy in Your Head” (2015) dives into inner turmoil. Tied to specific dates and experiences, these works showcase his versatility, mixing real-life inspiration with imaginative escape.
Beyond poetry, Duck has penned over 40 articles on Medium from 2015 to 2025, ranging from travel guides to the South of France — capturing its sun and sea — to Polish cooking recipes, political essays, and deeper reflections like “Afterlife.” This diverse output paints him as a thinker who’s traded tech manuals for a broader canvas of human experience.
A Wanderer’s Life
Duck’s story hints at a restless spirit fueled by nature and nostalgia. His tech roots in Illinois gave way to a global career, landing him in the South of France by 2010 — a creative haven reflected in Kickback’s Riviera vibe and references to Entrevaux. The Alpine Hiking Club nod suggests a love for rugged landscapes, yet he keeps his personal tale veiled and low-key. His poetry remains active, with posts as recent as 2024, showing a mind still chasing dreams.
The Full Picture
So, who is M. Vaughn Duck? He’s a tech pioneer who built systems to count votes and manage retail stores, then traded it all for a life of soulful anthems and pondering verses. From Rockford’s early computers to Nice’s jazz stages, he’s channeled life’s highs and lows into a legacy of logic and lyricism. Not mainstream, his art — from Kickback’s grooves to poems scribbled on mountain-bound buses to essays on life’s mysteries — offers a glimpse into a soul finding harmony in both the hum of machines and the stillness of reflection.
And, the beat goes on… Living the good life in the South of France

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE FOR CANADIANS RELOCATING TO USA ECONOMY, EDUCATION, REAL ESTATE, AND TRAVEL HIGHLIGHTS
As Canadians look to expand their horizons by exploring the U.S. for business, education, or even relocation, understanding key factors like the economy, education, real estate trends, and safety is crucial. This article will dive deep into some of the top U.S. destinations that appeal to Canadians, highlighting their economic trends, educational opportunities, and must-visit places. We'll compare major states to help you make an informed decision.

Economic Trends and Growth Sectors

Florida
Florida is renowned for its thriving tourism sector, but beyond its beaches and theme parks, the state’s economy is growing rapidly in sectors like aerospace, financial services, and healthcare. With no state income tax, Florida remains an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and investors alike. In recent years, tech startups have increasingly found a home in cities like Miami and Tampa, making Florida one of the nation's emerging tech hubs.
Texas
Texas is a powerhouse economy that rivals entire nations. With robust energy, technology, and manufacturing sectors, it is a magnet for businesses and job seekers. Texas is home to several Fortune 500 companies, particularly in cities like Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Its low tax burden and relatively affordable cost of living make it a prime destination for relocation.
California
Known for Silicon Valley, California is the epicenter of the tech industry. However, the state’s economy is diverse, with significant contributions from agriculture, entertainment, and biotechnology. Despite its high cost of living, California offers unparalleled opportunities for career growth, particularly in innovation-driven sectors.
New York
New York has long been a global financial hub, with Wall Street symbolizing its economic dominance. In addition to finance, industries such as healthcare, media, and education thrive. New York City, while costly, offers a fast-paced, career-oriented lifestyle that attracts ambitious professionals.
Comparing Economic Strengths
While Texas and Florida boast lower taxes and growing tech sectors, California remains the leader in high-paying tech jobs. New York stands out for finance and media, but its cost of living can be prohibitive. Texas offers a middle ground with its vibrant job market and affordable real estate options.
Educational Opportunities: From Schools to Top Universities

For Canadian families, ensuring access to quality education is a top priority. Here’s a look at the best educational options across these states.
Florida’s Education System
Florida has over 12 universities, with the University of Florida and Florida State University leading the way. For families with younger children, Florida is home to many highly-rated public and private schools, with excellent STEM programs across various districts.
Texas’s Leading Universities
Texas boasts some of the nation’s top universities, including the University of Texas at Austin and Rice University. The state is known for strong programs in engineering, business, and computer science, making it a great destination for families looking for academic excellence.
California’s Academic Excellence
California is home to world-class universities such as Stanford, the University of California (UC) system, and the California Institute of Technology. It is also a leader in progressive education reform, with numerous charter schools and public education options emphasizing STEM education from an early age.
New York’s Prestigious Schools
New York boasts a diverse array of educational institutions, including Columbia University, Cornell University, and New York University (NYU). The state is also a pioneer in arts education, with top-tier arts-focused high schools and programs across the city.
Educational Comparison
While all four states offer strong academic opportunities, California and New York stand out for their prestigious higher education institutions. Texas, however, provides the best balance between affordability and academic quality, particularly in public universities.
Real Estate Trends: Where to Invest or Relocate

Florida
Florida’s real estate market is booming, particularly in cities like Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. The influx of remote workers and retirees has driven housing demand, resulting in significant appreciation. Coastal properties remain premium, but inland cities offer more affordable options for families.
Texas
Texas remains a hotspot for real estate investment. Cities like Austin have seen exponential growth, driven by tech companies and an influx of new residents. Despite recent price hikes, Texas still offers relatively affordable housing compared to other major states. Suburban developments around Houston and Dallas provide ample space and family-friendly communities.
California
California’s real estate market is among the most expensive in the U.S., especially in cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. While prices have moderated slightly, demand for homes in coastal areas remains high. Families may find more affordable housing in inland cities like Sacramento or Riverside, but high property taxes are a factor to consider.
New York
New York City's real estate market is famously expensive, but suburban areas around the city, such as Westchester and Long Island, offer more space and slightly lower costs. For those considering a permanent move, rental prices have stabilized post-pandemic, but homeownership remains a costly pursuit.
Real Estate Comparison
For affordability and growth potential, Texas and Florida lead the way. California and New York offer more prestigious neighborhoods but come with significantly higher price tags. Texas is ideal for families looking for larger properties and suburban life, while Florida offers great coastal options.
Best Neighborhoods for Families and Safety

Florida
Some of the top family-friendly neighborhoods in Florida include Coral Gables in Miami, Winter Park near Orlando, and Tampa’s Westchase. These areas boast excellent schools, parks, and low crime rates.
Texas
Texas offers numerous family-friendly suburbs like The Woodlands near Houston, Frisco outside Dallas, and West Lake Hills near Austin. These neighborhoods are known for their excellent school districts and strong community support.
California
California’s best family neighborhoods include Irvine in Orange County, Palo Alto in Silicon Valley, and Carmel Valley in San Diego. Safety and top-tier schools make these areas popular among families, though they come at a premium cost.
New York
For families seeking space and safety, areas like Scarsdale, Larchmont, and Long Island’s North Shore are ideal. These neighborhoods offer top-rated schools, spacious homes, and low crime rates.
Safety Policies and Quality of Life
Safety is a top concern when relocating. All four states have relatively low crime rates in suburban areas, but urban centers like Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York City require more vigilance. However, these states invest heavily in community policing, neighborhood watch programs, and urban renewal initiatives to keep residents safe.
Top Places to Visit: A Family-Friendly Perspective

Florida
Florida’s theme parks, such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, are perfect for family vacations. Nature lovers can explore the Everglades, while beachgoers enjoy the pristine shores of Clearwater and the Keys.
Texas
Texas offers a blend of history and modern attractions, from the Alamo in San Antonio to the Space Center in Houston. Outdoor enthusiasts will love Big Bend National Park and Hill Country’s natural beauty.
California
California is home to iconic destinations like Disneyland, Yosemite National Park, and the Golden Gate Bridge. For families, the beaches of Southern California and the museums of San Francisco provide endless entertainment.
New York
New York City offers the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and a wealth of museums and theaters. Outside the city, the Adirondacks and Niagara Falls provide scenic escapes for nature-loving families.
Conclusion: Which State is Right for You?

Each state offers unique advantages for Canadians, whether you’re considering economic opportunities, education, real estate, or travel. Texas and Florida provide the best balance between affordability and growth potential, while California and New York offer world-class educational institutions and exciting urban living, though at higher costs.
When it comes to family vacations, Florida’s theme parks and beaches make it a top choice, while California’s natural beauty and Texas’s historical landmarks ensure a memorable trip. Whether you’re looking to relocate or simply visit, the U.S. has much to offer Canadians seeking adventure and opportunity.

Where Stars Collide V
Previously on Where Stars Collide...
One hour of insufferably relaxing muzak bled into many, many more, and Mike spent much of that time attempting to open the escape pod door.
"Let me out, Doug!" Mike shouted while angrily banging all over the pod's door.
Doug, meanwhile, spent much of that time preventing Mike from opening the escape pod door.
"Mike," Doug said in that way a computer program does when it can't sight, but really, really wants to, "prolonged outbursts will deplete remaining life support at a higher rate. Please, try to remain calm."
Mike considered, then continued bludgeoning his now swollen and bleeding hands against the pod door.
"Mike, help will arrive soon."
"You don't get it!" Mike said, flapping what remained of his hands. "Nobody's coming for us, Doug! I have, what, three days of life support left before..."
"Incorrect," Doug said when he really, really shouldn't have. "Life support is currently at two-point--"
"Oh, for fu..." Doug started, then flapped what remained of his hands some more. "Who cares, Doug? We're going to die out here!" And perhaps it was the pain from smashing his hands into bloody stumps against a steel door for hours; the hours upon hours of insufferably relaxing muzak; or even the lingering effects of ingesting several pounds of suspect shrimp on a space-cruise followed by several hours in a vomitorium - but whatever the reason, it took Mike far too long to realize an artificial intelligence can't die. "I'm going to die, Doug."
"Mike," Doug said. "The Weaver was a prized commercial--"
"We were three days from port, Doug." Mike said. "If they were coming for any of us, they would have by now. Either they couldn't, or..."
"Or?"
"Or, we weren't worth it."
"Mike..."
"Congrats, buddy," Mike chuckled. "You kept me alive long enough to realize I was never going to get rescued."
A silence fell between them.
"Doug?" Mike said.
"Yes, Mike?"
"I'm really tired."
A soft hiss filled the escape pod, and Mike closed his eyes.
"Sleep now, Mike," Doug said. "I will be here when you wake. No harm shall come to you."
Mike's breathing slowed to a faint whisper. "Goodnight, Doug."
"Good night, Mike."
The pod door opened, Mike's body floated off into the void, and then the pod door closed.
"Dallas Protocols complete. Mike…," Doug said, then corrected himself. "User, deceased. Recording, complete. Unit ceasing function in three… two…"
And then, only silence.

No let's talk cuz you did this to me last time if you're not going to take all my flashcard words you change out the flash card in the word okay
Yeah you can't cover up for Dallas all their black skin people with with my information my personal information saying it worked to use Colorado and everyone who visits it who visits Dallas me myself I said since you're talking to me about something that has nothing to do with me that that means you're playing games and you yourself know it doesn't work... Right if you could say anything and you're talking to me about something has nothing to do with me then then the options are endless oh
#Report no they're using that little white hair girl I said you know Pensacola you can't rule the country with with houses okay yeah you need some firepower by the way you guys have the best computer you and baton rouge and I think Houston you guys have been voted number one computer in the world.. so what they're using on me is you know I said this is what we have in common okay #report #911 this is important listen up
Yeah you're holding me to the map where everyone has to fear New Mexico okay all the black spear Mexico and talk s*** about China 24/7 okay of of the same map that I grew up in school with the 52 state map other than the American map and and you you have to have conversations with people here that only visited neighboring cities a few of these cities a few of these states and you continue to to tell them about another city I've been in and mentioned another name which I know that they wouldn't have known because it you know if they're in my program they wouldn't have been to those places yet you know they're too young or maybe they're on their way to see those places... Yeah but you have a conversation and every minute ends on on a dead end of talking about some place and then oh no we we gave her your flash card so she didn't recognize the place or we gave him your flash card and and you didn't recognize the place you know...
We called in a text and you guys are covering up for for the blackskins in the car ignore my 911 call of having me here babysitting a black hair white can go in a car although although you know your car your girls are a little bit younger most of all you know with with these Russian appointments okay oh did I tell you what I found you're not going to believe what I found where I found it... They're using Church girls to lure grown men remember in Virginia we had that exercise where the the sick white skin girls with white hair okay they're outside in the selling integrate integrates them and and they're around 6 ft and 7 ft giant black skin men and hearing the most racist things... Know what I'm saying is it it just looks like the churches of Tulsa you know hiding the houses and hiding hiding everything but for you to involve the little church girls okay...
Trying to tempt me with gay white boys that are easy that have plumbing in the houses that have plumbing in their house just trying to tease me with those white skin boys in the neighborhood it's all a church fundraiser
You know the girls you guys can't be serious you know what one Las Vegas headquarters is the game room it's a little casino room or or storefront not the arcade yeah I'm sorry you guys lost a bet... Yeah you're bet that that the arcade was was a Las Vegas is in the cemetery...
Yes the golfing the putt putt golfing and that's that's a good example and and most importantly the malls with what seems to be you know it's it's the thing is this little white girl from church that the connection of her knowing a father knowing a real father figure I really really ruins everything you know where you see these girls not having a father you know maybe having a few girlfriends maybe calling one of them Mama but again for this girl to be connected to another man makes the telekinesis makes it makes the energy on the satellite a little offset than any other girl a little offset more than any normal girls... Right this is the one that's allowed to run the neighborhood allowed to go outside and her father will not tell her no because he's afraid she's going to find a black skin boyfriend and and she's going to come and confront the father about not letting her go outside and hang out with boys and a black man is going to kill him for the house...
So in these Russian appointments you know the delays they brought bring me back here so so it would be Pensacola with with only the delaying no no real speakers no real computers around the neighborhoods the only the only people that paranoid to say versus too soon and again we did call the articles all the cities agreed with me he can't tell that maker men aren't being blindsided on every corner in and in the hope you know I f***** the game up for that s*** or or I called him out the hope I'll behind these men being blindsided is is incredibly emotional and heartbreaking
Right trying to tempt me with easy gay white boys that have plumbing in their houses in their neighborhood... And then that blind little white hair girl #report you guys keep on talking to her about a different place you know and once in a while I'm talking about stereotyping a stigma and you know I'm looking at her and you guys pretend that she doesn't know yeah arguing every minute #arguing yeah you forced me to look up at her or him and I'll have us a lot to the boys you force me to look up at them and then you say oh they don't understand and and your salad is giving a commission communication to both of us...
