Tour de Rock - Finale - Wk 10 - Du Long Course
Tour de Rock – Finale – Wk 10 – Du Long Course
22.7 mi, 1:16 finish time. 7th finish wk 10, 14th overall. Thursday was the Finale for the Tour de Rock. The course was the Du Long Course (world championship course in 2007). It started out flat and fast, then there’s some serious climbs (9%). Full course description below. The bummer was that I got off work late and hit a lot of traffic, and I pulled into the race a couple minutes before the…

Adobe after effect cs6 kickas torrent

In the end we decided not to, since many people seem to have garbage files or data points that screw up their mean maximal power curve, and hence the model fit (why people let such things persist is another question). The good news is that WKO4 has a far nicer UI for setting FTP (sFTP), so it shouldn't take all that long to do so (and the fact that you have to do it manually should discourage people from micromanaging their sFTP, which is a bad idea).Īs an aside, one thing we debated was whether to let the program enter sFTP for you (based on the model-derived FTP, or mFTP), either by default or by active choice. Unfortunately, due to differences in the way WKO+ 3 and TrainingPeaks handled such historical metadata, it wasn't possible to seamlessly carry over over your FTP settings used to calculate TSS, and hence CTL/ATL/TSB. I've even coached older cyclists in their 60s looking to get stronger on their group rides with friends.Marcag wrote:Now if only I recalculate TSS scores :-) I've coached just about every type of athlete in the past, from young world class triathletes in their 20s, competitive cyclists in their 30s and 40s to older athletes in their 50s (like me) looking to just get back in shape. now.Īlthough I don't actively coach right now, I do give FREE advice to athletes looking to set up a training program for the first time or to seasoned athletes looking to 'break-through' to a higher level of racing/training. I've been training and coaching with Power for over 10 yrs. I also think you must become a Level 2 Coach before you're able to take the exam. To become a Power Based Coach you have to pass a pretty comprehensive exam by USA Cycling on the use of Power Meters for Cycling Coaching. I was the first USA Cycling Power Based Cycling Coach in the State of Pennsylvania. I'm a USA Cycling Level 2 Power Based Coach. It also has a user forum that will help you with any questions you have. Golden Cheetah has a nice Help menu with documentation to support all of their charts/graphs. Training Peaks will tell you that it's not well supported but that's BS. If you don't like it after using it, then erase/delete it. You want to look at HR vs Power, create a chart and you've got it.ĭon't take my word for it, check it out and download Golden Cheetah for Free. Unlike Training Peaks Software, Golden Cheetah lets you create and customize your own performance charts. The terminology might be a tad different, for example, Training Peaks Software calls your maximum sustained average power at Threshold your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) where Golden Cheetah calls it your Critical Power (CP).
And, Golden Cheetah has just as many metrics for post ride analysis as Training Peaks Software does- maybe more. The best part is, it reads all of my files including my *.FIT Computrainer Files and my Garmin bike computer files. Having downloaded and used the latest version of Golden Cheetah, I have to say it's a damn nice software program (for Free). Andrew Coggan (like I did), Training and Racing with a Power Meter", it shows you how to read and work with all of the metrics that Training Peaks Software uses/offers.
Besides, if you bought the book by Hunter Allen and Dr. I heard of Golden Cheetah years ago but I never looked at it because Training Peaks software did the job. So, now, I've punted on Training Peaks software and I'm using the Open Source (Free) Software called Golden Cheetah. I think $179 is way too much $$ so I emailed Training Peaks and the best they could do was to offer me a 10% discount.
You have to upgrade to WKO+ 4 either as a monthly subscription or buy the software outright for $179 to read *.FIT files. Training Peaks WKO+ 3 doesn't read *.FIT files it only reads *.TXT files. I gave up on WKO+ 3 recently because my NEW ErgVideo software now saves my Computrainer training files in *.FIT format instead of *.TXT format. When I became an USA Cycling Level 2 Power Based Coach, I used WKO+ 3 from Training Peaks Software exclusively for post-ride analysis.

Body Helix Knee compression sleeve review! Disclaimer: I received a Body Helix compression knee sleeve as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews. I was excited for this opportunity as it opened up just as I started feeling some discomfort in my right knee. I’ve added more spin and computrainer classes to my work schedule and personal workouts, to help with my IronMan Training. I love compression socks and tights that I’ve used in the past for long run training and races, so was happy to test the sleeve out. When I first opened the package, I thought the sleeve might be too small or feel tight, but I watched their video on putting the sleeves on and off, and it went on smoothly and felt comfortable. It seems like a heavy material, but its breathability is great, as it never felt too hot. I tested it out under my running tights and went to work, and forgot I had it on, so kept it on while teaching my spin class. I have to say, I was impressed. I also wore it while teaching my bootcamp classes, as I’ve added lots of squats, lunges, and more drills. I’m happy with how it feels and excited to report I haven't felt that knee discomfort I had last month. You can machine wash and dry, but I prefer to hand wash and hang dry, as I’m hoping to have it last throughout my training cycle. I’m going to wear it on all my long runs and as I add time on my bike trainer, just to make sure I keep that knee discomfort away, or at least better with the extra support.

Check out their website:
There’s a big range of sleeves for upper and lower body. Some adjustable and different models.

Tour de Rock - Week 9 - Sprint - Sylvania (and Maiden Voyage of New Felt IA 10 Bike)
Tour de Rock – Week 9 – Sprint – Sylvania (and Maiden Voyage of New Felt IA 10 Bike)
24.1 miles, 1:03 time. I got my new bike assembled and took it to CompuTrainer for its maiden voyage. I still have a bunch of dialing in to do on it, but it rode great. I’ll post more on the bike separately. This was Week 9 of the Tour de Rock. Sprint course was mostly flat and fast. I was exceedingly happy to stay with the pack of A Group riders. I attribute a lot of it to my new bike! I got…

Real Workouts, Virtual Worlds: Welcome To Future Of Indoor Bike Training
https://gearjunkie.com/zwift-bkool-stationary-trainer-game-cycling-review
an indoor bike trainer is barely tolerable, at best. Thankfully, that’s changing with a new breed of interactive programs where you sweat, pedal, race against others, and see the sights of a virtual world on a screen.
Indoor cycling software from companies like Zwift and BKOOL promises to “gamify” indoor bike training. These new tools help you escape into a magical multiplayer online world where riding your trainer faster makes your avatar crush other riders in a virtual environment.
Will these new programs replace treadmills and traditional stationary bikes in home gyms? Well, yes, actually. We think they should.
How To ‘Game’ On A Bike
The term “gamification” applies the typical elements of game playing such as point scoring, cooperation, and competition to increase engagement. Crucial to the gaming experience is a new breed of electronically-controlled bike trainers upon which you mount your own bike.
These wifi-enabled machines sync terrain on a laptop or iPad to the resistance in your pedal stroke. An electromagnetic braking system monitors resistance automatically via the software.
Resistance will automatically increase as you climb a virtual hill, and climbing a hill will be harder if you weigh more, just like in real life. This creates a realistic and immersive virtual environment.
Workout data is automatically stored and this allows a rider to compare the same ride they did today with a ride they did when they started training. Tracking your improvement over time is particularly motivating.
We got in at the ground level of this new phenomenon, testing this idea over the course of the past year. We tested two of the leading electronically controlled trainers, the Wahoo SNAP ($700) and BKOOL Smart Pro ($700). We will talk about the trainers themselves in a separate review, because the story here really is about the software.
ZWIFT
Zwift is the most popular virtual world for indoor bike training. The virtual world takes place on Jarvis Island, a U.S. territory about 1,000 miles south of Hawaii. (Click here to read about the history of the island, including it’s guano mining operation and the gin-fueled suicide of Squire Flockton, a lonely guano miner, in 1883.)
Competing against other riders is much more engaging than sitting on a regular trainer
After a free trial period, for about $10 per month, anyone can get together to ride with others in Zwift. You might find yourself riding alongside Jens Voigt, Ted King, or President Obama.
Zwift’s software is very engaging because there are always a bunch of riders on course. There are rewards for fast lap (orange jersey), and other acheivements. You can even use “power-ups” to boost your on screen performance briefly, just press the space bar. Just as in the real world, there are Strava segments on the course. I was surprised to see my Zwift training show up in my Strava feed as if I was actually in the South Pacific.
If you’re a dedicated cyclist looking to base your training on your functional threshold power, you can use Zwift’s new workout mode. Workout mode will tune your efforts precisely for maximum training benefit. Workouts like this are hugely beneficial for improving as a cyclist.
BKOOL
BKOOL software is similar to Zwift in so far as it uses an electromagnetic trainer to control the resistance as you pedal through the course on your display. It costs about the same as Zwift ($12 per month, but offers a few compelling discount plans). Its software was written for use with the company’s namesake trainers, which we have been testing for more than 6 months now.
BKOOL allows one to ride not just in one virtual world like Zwift does, but also on hundreds of pre-recorded actual routes throughout the world. BKOOL features real streams of footage from a camera (like a bike mounted GoPro cam), which allows a ride in virtually any destination you might dream of. Prior to the Tour De France, you may wish to climb Alpe-D’Huez for example. BKOOL adds new courses everyday and they are already up to over 500,000!
BKOOL also offers virtual environments, such as a track or outdoor similar to Jarvis Island, complete with virtual weather that based on the actual weather experienced in that location at that time.
BOTTOM LINE
Before BKOOL and Zwift (and similar programs like TrainerRoad that gamify indoor cycling) popped up, the only way to ride indoor courses with power was on a Computrainer. A Computrainer costs $2500 and although it provides great data, it does not offer the ability to ride with or against other riders, an element crucial to the engagement that a “gamifying” trainer provides.
Zwift is the first program that makes exercise feel like a multiplayer video game. There are myriad ways to compete with other riders. There are goals and checkpoints to achieve to compete against yourself. The graphics are interesting and fluid. The platform is reliable.
Both Zwift and BKOOL are good programs that get better all the time as thier developers release updates. If you are interested in viewing and riding real courses then BKOOL is your best option. Although BKOOL has been around longer, and has a more diverse selection of courses, we find the Zwift environment to be more polished and getting better faster. It is Zwift that got us to stop and think, “Wow. This is different enough to change the way we feel about training indoors.”
Nobody liked training indoors before Zwift. Now it’s a social place to ride with and against each other in a way that is actually fun.

(TW exercise and weight talk) So I'm going to be proud of myself for a moment - I did a 5 mile time trial test this morning at a team cycling gym (basically a room with 2 tvs and a bunch of CompuTrainers) and I beat the women's record at the gym previously set in 2010 by a pro so I'm feeling fairly excited and giving my body a nice pat on the back (and some food in the mouth) for being pretty outstanding!! Unfortunately, some people are telling me how I'd be even better if I were to lose some weight (they're not saying I need to lose weight, or that I am at an unhealthy weight for my body, they are just stating that I could be faster at a lower weight), and it's frustrating, but I just have to keep throwing the middle finger to the world knowing that while losing weight might make me faster, it would absolutely make me unhealthy mentally, and possibly physically as well. I just have to keep doing me - I'm not trying to be Pro - cycling for me is for fun and friendships and community and some friendly competition - I'm absolutely not going to destroy myself for it.

Machine Learning Training
Machine learning is the discipline where patterns in big data are discovered. These form the basis for an algorithm with which computers can predict future behaviors, outcomes, and trends. In this program, you will learn about theory and practical applications. You learn at your own pace through online training with videos, labs, and assessments. In this On Demand program, supervision is also provided by an expert and 2 classroom coaching evenings.

Microsoft Gold Learning Partner
Computrain holds the official Microsoft Gold Learning Competency. For the training, the Computrain Open edX environment is used with the online training specially developed by Microsoft.
For Whom
This training is intended for people who want to master the theory and practice of machine learning and want to build data-science solutions with tools such as R, Python and Azure machine learning.
Foreknowledge
You already have some knowledge of big data and you are aware of the value of this for your organization. Some knowledge in the field of SQL is useful.
Approach and study material
After your registration, you will have access to the Computrain Open edX environment with the specially developed official online Microsoft training courses. The training includes videos, theory, hands-on labs, and associated assessments. You can do the assessments up to 2 times. The result counts along with the Final Exam in the final score of the module. You can start directly with the tutorial. During the study on the basis of the online training, you will be guided by an experienced trainer to whom you can ask your questions. For each self-study module, an average study load of 4-5 hours per week applies for a period of 4-6 weeks. Each self-study module is concluded with a coaching evening at Computrain. The dates for these coaching evenings can be found under the heading planning. During the coaching evening, the material is followed in general terms and there is still a time when difficult topics are considered. With this, you are optimally prepared for the Final Exam with which you conclude the online training yourself. If you successfully complete the Final Exam, you can request the official Microsoft Certificate of Completion.

Tour de Rock - Week 8 - Mountaintop - Talledega
Tour de Rock – Week 8 – Mountaintop –Talledega
Mountaintop finish meant lots of climbing. The course kinda looked like rollers, if you glanced at the profile. But really, the rollers were climbs (5-6% grades) and the big climbs were huge climbs (9-10%). I was feeling mentally and physically psyched for the race. I got to Bill’s house early to warm up. Just before went started at 6:15pm sharp, I heard my tire making lumpy uneven noises! I was…
