you know, jack's talking rn about how he kind of logged back onto the dsmp as a joke but unexpectedly got hit with a wave of nostalgia for all the time he spent on the server and ykw. the thing that surprised me the most with dream smp's ending is that a lot of the content creators that i felt like really enjoyed the roleplaying never did anything like that again. jack is one of them, but fundy was incorporating his coding into the lore and during the l'manburg era especially seemed really invested in his character. schlatt also seemed to get really into it when he was playing the big bad villain. and fucking karl jacobs? with tftsmp??? it was always kind of wild to me that more of them didnt end up joining other similar projects

This is niche rp-account that plays the character of Dream from the fan-fiction: Hush Now (You Were Lost But Now You’re Found) by CorpseArt.

This blog and community is entirely unaffiliated to any content creator which characters may bear superficial resemblance to.

Moreover: The content of this blog is neither a statement on—nor endorsement of—any real-life person or internet persona.

Tags I will be using:

#dream official is for Dream’s ‘Official Statements’ about something. Presume that these are being broadcasted to, and visible by, public at large. (At least, for the initial post).

#:) is the tag that indicates a tumblr post, (as opposed to a public broadcast). Essentially: Direct interaction with other players within the RP. All ‘normal’ tumblr-dialogue mechanics apply. Whenever this tag is used, the message recipient presumably understands they are speaking with Dream in his identity as the No. 1 Hero.

#definitely not dream is the tag which indicates that Dream is going by an internet pseudonym to obscure his identity. I would say he’s in ‘civilian-mode,’ but that would imply he has a life outside of work. If he’s using this tag he doesn’t want to be recognized.

You can talk about parasocial relationships between fans and creators, and there are valid points to be made, but like, have we talked about how dehumanising some of his fellow creators behaviour is?

They see 30 million followers and think that means anything they say is fair game, they see him responding to defend himself and think they can get their 15 minutes of fame at his expense.

But Karl Jacobs said it best, ppl who make content based off of drama on the internet are stupid, it isn't real content, the audience you attract for that brief moment aren't here for you. They're here for what they view as petty celebrity gossip and will move on and then you will be left with a hollow career and you'll have damaged other people's in the process. Focus on your shit, make your own money, leave Dream fucking OUT OF IT, he is not there to be collateral damage on your way to a the brief high of a few twitter replies.

Karl Jacobs hated his soulmate.

As he arrived at the location he and the rest of the Mr Beast crew were filming at, he had no idea how to explain to Jimmy the reasoning behind him having a vibrant pink stripe in his hair other than saying it was his soulmate's fault.

As he rounded the corner he heard the end of a conversation which sounded like Chandler and you talking, the former complimenting you about something. His eyes locked on your new brightly coloured hair, with the exception of a brown stripe clearly visible.

But what shocked him wasn't the fact that you decided to dye your hair such a vivid colour, but the fact that his soulmate was under his nose the entire time.

karl furrowed his eyebrows, glancing up at his monitor to check the time. you never went to sleep too early, usually you went to bed around the same time he’d be ending stream. his eyebrows shot up when he realized he’d been streaming for an hour and a half longer than usual, as it was now 3:23 in the morning.

“oh shit! okay chat!” he abruptly logged off of the SMP, changing the screen over to full screen face cam. he picked his phone up, typing a quick ‘give me three minutes please’ before clicking the power button once. “okay chat, i- uh- didnt realize i went so long with the stream. my apologies, but i have to go. i must sleep for i have to be up early tomorrow!” he tried to joke around, fully lying with a tired smile on his face.

the fans didnt know karl was seeing anyone, much to his liking. as much as he loved his fans, he knew that they could be mean just as anyone could. he was scared that you’d leave him if you got any hate for being with him, which is precisely why no one knew. it even took the boy a little to tell his closest friends, he threatened them multiple times to keep their mouths shut before even hinting at anything.

“okay! i love you all, thank you so much for tuning in to the stream. we’re gonna get a raid going! let’s- let’s raid tommy, let’s raid tommy. okay, spam ‘karl says you stink’ in his chat. bye!” he smiled brightly, waving until he was absolutely sure the stream ended.

he closed out of OBS, the already opened discord tab popping up. he sighed, glancing at the bottom right to check the time. one minute until you went to bed without him. he sighed again, clicking quickly to join the voice chat.

“karllll, my boyy!”, “oh my god is that karl jacobs!” and various other greetings rang through his headset. a posh accent clashed against al the other american ones, causing him to crack a smile.

“hello boys, i just wanted to say goodnight before logging off for the night. im gonna go cuddle with y/n/n before she kills me for streaming so late on her school night.” the call went silent for a second. “cool! tell your sister i said goodnight man!” quackity’s voice rang, his nervous laugh sounding through his words.

Honestly the amount of pressure put on streamers and content creators is insane. They get so much bullcrap from social medias and other people, and I can't even imagine how hard it is for them. To all content creators, remember that it's totally okay to take breaks or not do well in a game, or to think that you're not doing great. And remember that there are always, always people out there who will support you no matter what. Take care of yourselves, take breaks.

Fans, remember that content creators are people just like you and me, and that they have to go through so much that we can't even begin to understand, so show them some love and be understanding and kind 💕

The sun had hardly peaked through the sliver in the light curtains, grazing the vase of daffodils, when a young boy had bound out of bed, down the hall, and into the kitchen. Neither of Karl’s parents had awoken, though he took care of breakfast himself, something he would pride himself on later. With their recent move, his parents had little time for him, stressing over bills, work hours, and school enrollment for the boy. However, with recently tight schedules, Karl had endless time for his own enjoyment, especially when left home alone.

When his parents finally made their way downstairs, they clamored about before both shuffling out the door. Today, it was a quick trip to the grocery store, leaving him to his regular antics alone. As soon as the door clicked shut, he stood, and the landline rang. Calls never came through, and he’d thought it simply a dusty old decoration on the wall. With hesitation, he held it to his ear.

“Alex?” A loud voice rang through.

“No, this is Karl. Who are you?” He asked.

There was a pause at the other end, before an answer came, “Oh...I’m Sapnap!”

That day, in Karl’s quaint kitchen, he could pinpoint the moment a bud of a friendship had sprouted, even through an accidental call. Daily, after learning to use the landline, he would dial up the number Sapnap had given him the moment his parents left. For weeks on end, Sapnap and Karl fell into the routine of speaking for hours, Karl wrapping the cord around his arm as he sat on the tile floor, until it came time to untangle himself as his mother returned home. When the school year began, after his mother had gotten him enrolled in the sixth grade, their calls shortened and routine changed. Sapnap would call late at night, when both of their parents had long been asleep and they could chat as freely as they wished. A few times they’d talked about meeting in person, going to a carnival together, but those conversations faded away as quickly as they started. Karl assumed Sapnap didn’t want his parents to know, which he could sympathize with. Neither could explain how they met over a phone call due to a small input mistake . Though Sapnap had an odd way of speaking, using words he’d never heard, ending calls with ‘catch you on the flipside,’ he didn’t pay much attention to it.

Until a few years later, that was. As Karl aged, he listened to Sapnap refer to ‘new’ artists that, to his knowledge, began their careers when his parents were children, even going as far as to share new records he’d bought with him over calls. When he’d mention his new PC, he could hear the confusion in Sapnap’s voice over the line, though he assumed, considering they spoke over landlines, the boy hadn’t had much exposure to recent technology. Though, their conversations grew weirder as they reached high school, around the same time Karl began to notice records laying around his room, and Sapnap would share his confusion of the flowers on his windowsill changing. The items that disappeared and reappeared coincidentally matched with what the other had placed down or changed out the day before, even the flowers Karl planted. Or at least, they brushed it off as a coincidence.

On Sunday, October 12th, Karl replanted the flowers on his windowsill, swapping daffodils for alstroemerias; though, much to his dismay, the flower pot had shifted overnight, lined paper resting in its original place. In dark black ink, appearing as if chicken-scratch, the tiny slip of paper read, “Karl, if you are reading, this is Sapnap. Call me soon, please.” Sapnap didn’t have to ask twice, before he slipped down to his kitchen and dialed up his number.

“I understand now,” Sapnap stated, abruptly, “You aren’t with me. You can’t be with me”

Karl laughed, “Well...I would assume I’m not. But, this is about the note, the flowers, no?”

On Wednesday, October 22nd, sunlight blared through the window of Karl’s room, the flowers in the pot doused in sunlight. Though, the sight wasn’t of bright purple petals, but dark red petals. Dahlias and amaranthus were resting in the soil, a bit messily, with a note tucked under the edge of the pot. Karl leaned against the windowsill, heart racing as he snatched up the note.

Dear reader,

This is a love story. It’s a story of missed connections and second chances - and two teens who find their way back to each other after years apart. Only, that happens in a dream. Time couldn’t force the two further apart, with decades resting between their grasp. I’m leaving this note as proof for myself, that Sapnap, a boy from 1982, had loved Karl, a boy born decades after him, more than a friend ever could. Proof bonds could transcend time, but could never last.

Karl, take care of those flowers for me.

For Karl’s remaining years at home, he tended to the flowers, his lasting connection to the boy he’d spent his teenage years with. Though he never saw Sapnap, nor did he ever receive a call again, not a day passed where he escaped his mind. When the time drew near that Karl had to leave home, he left his own note by the flower pot.

However, even half a decade later, when Karl was forced to leave them behind, the flowers on the windowsill never wilted.
