I went to a local bookstore today, and they had a bin of movie stills. I wasn't expecting to find anything I wanted, so I was shocked to find some Loose Cannons photos. I got all the ones they had (the only ones in the whole bin even remotely related to Dan). And then, at the very back, I saw John and knew I had to get that one, too.

Ron Bancroft comes out as a transgender man at nineteen. His parents reject him. His girlfriend rejects him. Feeling trapped and miserable, Ron decides to leave Harvard and travel west to work on a Wyoming ranch to prove to his parents, his ex, and himself that he can live unequivocally as a man. As he embarks on this journey of independence, Ron must deal with the constant fear and anxiety of being discovered as a trans man as he enters a world more dangerous than he ever imagined.
Mod opinion: I hadn't known of this book before and I probably won't read this, but I do love the cover.

Mountains Are the Perfect Backdrop for the Many Glacier Hotel (Glacier National Park)

Mountains Are the Perfect Backdrop for the Many Glacier Hotel (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking from the parking area over a rise around the Many Glacier Hotel with a view looking to the southwest This is in Glacier National Park. My thought on composing this image was to find a balance as I looked to the horizon between the buildings of the Many Glacier Hotel with that of the ridge and peak of Grinnell Point. I wanted to include some foreground interest with the nearby hillside that I was on, and include some blue skies and clouds above to add to the balance in the image. The rest was later making adjustments with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

After the first time I walked across the United States, I really wanted to do it again—but stuff kept getting in the way. I'm happy to say that in April, I'm finally headed out to attempt another trail from Mexico to Canada...I'm sure there won't be any obstacles at all.
(As is my custom, I didn't entirely finish this. Please ignore the sloppy background; I don't have a computer with Harmony on it anymore and I won't til I'm back from my adventure.)

The hills were alive with wildflowers and I, Was as wild, even wilder than they. For at least I could run, They just died in the sun, And I refused to just wither in place,

Saw your post about Jack Black in The Holiday and I couldn't agree more! If you want another good romcom with an unconventionally attractive male lead, may I suggest Continental Divide with John Belushi?
Okay, so I totally followed your suggestion and watched Continental Divide... what a charming rom-com I had never heard of before from 1981!
Seeing actors/comedians that are known for their over-the-top comedic personalities get to be a bit more subdued and serious in a more dramatic role is one of my favorite things, and John Belushi did a great job.
My favorite moment: Nell runs into the cabin in a panic and finds a bloodied and scratched up Ernie sitting on the floor after he was attacked by a cougar and he just looks up at her and nonchalantly says, "How was your day?"
Thank you so much for your suggestion!

During construction of the Panama Canal workers had to blast through 95 meters of rock at the Continental Divide to create the Culebra Cut (Gaillard Cut). Terracing was used to prevent landslides.
