I was out of town for KamiCon, so I haven’t been posting a ton. I had fun but now I have so much work to get caught up on.😅 Here’s Kami’s animal mascot, the black turtle Shoyu. I remember years ago they had con goers vote on who the mascot should be (I think the other choices were a tiger, a dragon, and a phoenix) by giving everyone step counters and the number was how many points you could give to your pick. You’d see groups of people all just shaking the shit out of these little things lol. I was the only one in my group of friends who voted for Shoyu and was so smug when he won. It’s been over a decade since then- wild to think about!

i made a meme that kind of violates the geneva convention for you.
When it was quarantine, sure Crowley napped a lot, but also: what if it was DIY time. Presenting to you... the Hand Sataniser, inspired by someone's actual typo during the pandemic. It involved one canva graphic, a lot of text adjustment, unnecessarily complicated disasters with hex codes and colour theory, and voila.
Tumblr media
AND YES, THIS MEME PARTIALLY VIOLATES THE GENEVA CONVENTION BY USE OF THE RED CROSS SYMBOL. BUT I HAVE EVADED THAT BY SAYING NO CROSS (IT'S A DEMONIC PUN SEE I'M FUNNY) ANYWAY THAT IS THE LEVEL OF COMMITMENT I HAVE AS GOOD OMENS MASCOT.
Cheers to @arkytiorlecter who said "It's never a war crime the first time!"
Cheers to @orpiknight who started this, then kindly informed me that I was violating the Geneva Convention and then happily proclaimed, "Asmi's an international criminal."
If the reason I finally violate the Geneva Convention is a Crowley meme, then so be it. Such is my passion for the cause. Appreciate me. Uplift me. Enable me. My KoFi is linked in the pinned post. Yes, that last part was a joke. Do you really want to fund an international war criminal?
(no, btw, the answer is typically no)

For a small convention at my Library, I won the mascot design contest and also made a poster of the mascot Libby for the event. It's a big honor to have my design chosen, and I couldn't be more grateful!

Keep seeing videos of all the big cons over East and like... man. Why did I have to live in the state that has fucking nothing
Don't get me wrong I *love* the small local cons we have here they're so well run, they're really in touch with the local community (*especially* the creative- they're all focused mainly on the artists and local performers and idols and game devs (which could be me soon - id kill to show a game at a local con) and shit which is great) and they arent overcrowded but. God the vibes of PaxAus or Oz Comic Con (the over east versions, not WAs (aka one of the worst cons we get here)) or the fur cons over there is just,,, it's something I *need* to see. There's so many people! It's so fucking huge and the vibes are *incredible* and god I need to move over east or ill die. Actually.

Yes I am scared of mascots/fursuits. I think I had a traumatic memory at Chuck E Cheese's when I was a little kid. Idk why else I'm so put off by proximity to them lmao
#speculation nation#i have the vaguest of memories of the place. crawling in the tubes and watching the mascot suit band#and i must've hated it or smth lmao. i remember being scared of mascots At Least since middle school#when i always cringed away from our school's mascot#it's generally not a disruptive fear. on the rare occasions i end up in proximity to someone in a mascot suit#theyve never rly bothered me if i telegraph i dont wanna be bothered. usually by me just Inching Away...#school events. sometimes festivals. i dont rly do shit often so it rarely comes up#it also shows up at anime conventions tho. with the fursuits.#full respect to furries. theres just something about the artificial eyes and faces that puts me off.#but again. not hard to avoid. i just leave them be and they leave me be.#looking at pictures online doesnt bother me. it's mostly just the proximity that bothers me.#as u could imagine tho. i have never Once wanted to fuck with fna.f#a video game practically tailored to my niche irrational fear. my will to interact with it is in the negatives.#i dont rly like horror games anyways :p so definitely have never been interested#but yea. i think this is the only truly irrational fear i have. anything else im scared of are pretty rational#.........tho i guess mirrors in the dark would count as irrational. tho it's bc Ghosts#OKAY okay that's another probably irrational fear. i just cant look at mirrors in the dark. i will cover my eyes i cant do it.#avoid being in dark rooms with mirrors anyways. as u could imagine i dont keep mirrors in my bedroom.#and when i get up at night to go to the bathroom i very pointedly dont look at the mirror until ive got the lights on#OK SO THATS 2 IRRATIONAL FEARS i swear thats all of them tho. i think.#this has been Sharing Hour with Fanny. hope you enjoyed lmao

And next in me being my big sister's group's most specialest supporting cast by cosplaying as characters I don't particularly care for but that are simple and needed to complete the roster: Mona Persona 5

i really wish there was as much cool stuff (like fan content) or enthusiasm for maplestory in the english community like there is in Korea...
fanart of the characters is hard to come by on the English side of twitter whereas it's pretty abundant on the Korean side. it feels a bit sad to not be able to understand Korean so i can properly interpret their tweets since google translate is dumb, and understand what the characters are saying in fanart since the letter detection doesn't always work or even make coherent sense. however, seeing the fanart is good enough for me; im content seeing my favorites look cool, cute and funny, and im also content seeing other people be hyped up about maplestory in general.
the new age class showcase is so...wow!! the animation for the skills look especially fucking cool: marksman, angelic buster, mercedes and phantom were my favorite out of the bunch. i was most hyped for angelic buster's showcase while watching...which is definately favoritism, I just love her a lot haha.

The first anime club in the United States was the Cartoon Fantasy Organization in New York in the late 1970s, who met in the basement of the Polish Democratic Club. Anime tapes were so precious they could only be traded usually, not sold (and with translation scripts if you were lucky). The mascot of the group was a weasel named Fanta.
If you were an anime fan prior to the 80s, you had to be in a club because anime was so rare that you could only get it at screenings in clubs and conventions.
The Cartoon Fantasy Organization is also relevant to the history of Furries, as the founders of organized furry fandom initially met there in the late 1970s before starting the first true furry clubs and conventions in the 80s. Anime fandom and furry fandom have a “common ancestor,” and emerged from the same group.
