Does Ingress Protection mean your Enclosure is Safe?
What is IP rating?
IP rating or IEC 60529 grades the resistance of an enclosure against dust, water or other contaminants. It provides a list of the degree of protection offered by mechanical and electrical casings or enclosures. Electric equipment malfunctions or gets damaged when water or dust enters it. To avoid such situations, the equipment enclosures should be resistant to such ingression. This can be ensured by the IP ratings of the equipment as they give a more specific understanding of the protection offered. It also defines the tests to be performed to verify that the enclosure (product) meets these requirements. IP ratings are of prime importance throughout various industries like mechanical, electrical, electronics, instrumentation, automobile, etc.
The IP code is composed of the two letters IP which means ingress protection, followed by two numerals:
1) The first numeral refers to the protection against solid objects and is rated on a scale from 0 (no protection) to 6 (no ingress of dust).
2) The second numeral rates the protection against liquids and uses a scale from 0 (no protection) to 9 (high-pressure hot water from different angles).
The two digits indicate adherence to the conditions listed in the table below. The digit 0 is used when no protection is provided. A digit is replaced with the letter X when no sufficient data is available to assign a protection level. The device is considered to be less capable in such cases.
DIN 40050-9 extended the IEC 60529 rating system with an IP69K rating. IP69K stands for high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down applications. It was originally developed for road vehicles, especially those that need regular intensive cleaning. It is also useful in areas like food processing machinery and car wash systems.
What does Ingress Protection Rating mean?
First Digit – The first digit stands for protection from solid material mainly dust. The value can range from 0 to 6. As the value increases, the ability of the product to withstand solid foreign objects or dust from entering the enclosure increases.
For example, a product that has a rating of IP20 can withstand solid foreign objects up to 12mm or greater in size. An object with a rating of IP6X has protection from dust ingress. The “X” is used to represent an area where the product has not been tested for ingress protection.
Second Digit – The second digit represents protection from liquid ingress. It has values ranging from 1 to 9. As the value of the second digit increases, protection from liquid ingress increases.
For example, a product with an IPX4 rating can withstand vertical water splashing at an angle up to 600. As the chart indicates, there are specific angles, pressures, and volume requirements that must be followed during testing. Here since the first digit is indicated as X, we can say that it is not certified for foreign body ingress protection.
Extra Letters – Sometimes, there might be an extra letter at the end of the IP code, these are optional letters. This is the supplementary letter, and it can be used to denote the supplementary information from the product standard. The letter can provide additional information related to the protection of the device from:
 Letters and Meanings
 F- Oil resistant
 H – High voltage device
M- Device monitoring during water test
S- Device standing still during water test
 W – Weather conditions
 Electrical IP Rating:
IP ratings for electrical applications follow the same universal codes similar to all other types of enclosures, for ease of understanding and standardisation. However, it is more important with electrical IP ratings to strictly consider the potential exposure types and protection needed for all electrical or electronic components or systems. This is because any ingress from either particulates or moisture of any kind can result in greater damage or increased hazards.
 Conclusion:
There are various types of IP-rated products available on the market now. The IP rating requires stringent testing procedures, which ensures standardization between all the different testing facilities around the world. The standardisation of IP codes enables users to gain a clear understanding of each product’s abilities and limitations in different environments. It makes the selection easy with the IP rating indicated on the product. One must always be careful in checking the IP ratings for less obvious sources of moisture or foreign bodies, such as condensation, steam, accumulating dust, and corrosion or chemical attack if the product is to be used in challenging industrial environments.

What is Chemical Earthing, and what is the Earthing Installation Process
Chemical Earthing today has become a vital aspect of all electrical installations and facilities, from Low Voltage Distribution Networks to High Voltage Transmission Systems and small electrical appliances to next-generation sensitive electronic gadgets/goods.
Tumblr media
What is Chemical Earthing?
Chemical Earthing is an advanced form of Maintenance Free Earthing utilizing Superior ground-enhancing compounds such as Back Fill Compound to reduce the ground resistance to get low-resistance earthing in place of Charcoal and salt, as used in conventional earthing of earlier days.
Where do we use Chemical Earthing?
Chemical Earthing is the backbone of all electrical installations, utilities, appliances, and systems. It is mandatory for all Electrical systems without any scope of relaxation for any type for anything related to electrical systems and electricity.
It is a must for all homes, residences, offices, institutions, buildings, structures, colleges, monuments, industries, oil and gas plants, refineries, hospitals, data centres, military installations, defence centres, and whatever and wherever electricity comes into play or exists.
What is a Chemical Earth Pit?
A Chemical Earthing Pit is a 4–5 Inches hole, 1 to 3 meters deep, made into the ground, (depending on the width and the length of the earthing electrode) for installing the earthing electrode surrounded and packed with Ground Enhancing compound (commonly known as Back Fill Compound) inside the ground in the dug Chemical Earth Pit.
What is the difference between Normal Conventional Earthing and Chemical Earthing?
Chemical Earthing differs from Normal Conventional Earthing on several grounds.
Back Fill Compounds used for reducing ground resistance: The Chemical Earthing utilizes Advance Ground Enhancing Compounds, also known as Chemical Earthing Powder, or Chemical Earthing Compounds based on bentonite, silica, or other chemicals in spite of using Charcoal and Salt, as used in conventional Earthing. The Bentonite Chemical for earthing is used the most, along with the Silica-based Back Fill Compound or Silica-based Chemical Earthing Powder.
Type of Earthing electrodes used: In Chemical Earthing, usually Earthing Electrodes like Pure Copper Earthing Electrodes, Copper Bonded Earthing Electrodes, GI Earthing Electrodes, Pipe-in-Pipe Earthing Electrodes are used in comparison to Pure Copper Earthing Plates, or GI Earthing Plates used in Conventional Earthing. The Chemical Earthing Material used in Chemical Earthing is far superior to the material used in Conventional Earthing.
Service Life of Earthing: Chemical Earthing has a long service life of 12–15 years in comparison to the 3–4 years of service life of Conventional Earthing. Chemical Earthing for homes goes a further long way in comparison to that of normally used conventional earthing.
Chemical Earthing Prices: Chemical earthing prices are far more reasonable than Conventional Earthing Prices owing to their longer service life. As the service life of earthing gets spread over more usable years in chemical earthing, its cost drastically gets reduced, thus providing more value and return on the investment.
Tumblr media
What is a Chemical Earthing Electrode? What are various Chemical Earthing Electrode sizes and specifications?
A Chemical Earthing Electrode is a Pure Copper, Copper Bonded, or GI pipe/rod used as an inserted conductor into the ground to dissipate the earthing current, or leakage current or fault current, seamlessly into the ground, without giving much electrical resistance to the dissipating fault current, and that too in a mere fraction of second. The Earthing Electrode could be a hollow pipe, a rod, or a bar, depending on the requirement.
There is one more form of earthing electrode known as the Pipe-in-Pipe earthing electrode. In it, there are two concentric pipes filled with the backfill compound between their gap and the inside of the inner hollow pipe.
The Earthing Electrodes could be in the form of Copper or GI Earthing plates. These earthing plates are commonly 300mmx300mm or 400mmx400mm with 2–3 mm thickness. These Earthing plates are packed with Chemical Back Fill Compounds the way the pipes/rods are packed with.
What is Chemical Earthing Material/Compound?
Chemical Earthing Material is a low-resistance Compound that is inserted in the earth pit to surround the earthing electrode in such a way as to pack it from all sides while providing a close to zero resistance path to the current meaning for dissipating in the ground.
How to Install Chemical Earthing?
Installing Chemical Earthing is just a couple of hours’ job. It requires to follow following steps:
How much does Chemical Earthing cost?
The Chemical Earthing price starts from 4–5 thousand and goes up depending on the type of earthing electrode and the backfill compound we are using for the earthing installation. The Copper Chemical Earthing price is higher than the other types of Earthing which use other types of Chemical Earthing Rods or Earthing Electrodes. The Chemical Earthing Rods Prices play a major role in deciding Chemical Earthing Prices.
We at True Power manufacture all types of Earthing Electrodes, including Pure Copper Earthing Electrodes, Copper Bonded Earthing Electrodes, GI Earthing Electrodes, Pipe-in-pipe Earthing Electrodes, along with Chemical Earthing Rods of different types.

More Sword Questions...
These are further questions prompted by a post already long enough that I’m not reblogging the whole thing.  It’s here.
@softness-and-shattering (who posted the original Ask) wrote:
Thank you so much! What Im getting is that there arent any exact rules, different people and places mixed and matched sword features as they liked. Is that more or less correct? The swords that are green, is that oxidization? Theyre very pretty. And if fullers are to reduce sword weight, what are ridges for? Thanks again :)
*****
(1) Yes, it's oxidation. The uncomplimentary word is "tarnish", the complimentary word is "patina". Bronze swords in museums can be various colours ranging from green (verdigris)...
Tumblr media
...through golden...
Tumblr media
...to shades of brown and almost black.
Tumblr media
I don’t know why (archaeological metallurgy is a mystery to me) but at a guess it's related to the acidity of the ground in which they were found, the proportions of copper / tin / other metals in their bronze.
It may also be the point at which conservators decided they'd gone far enough with that particular artefact and further restoration / cleaning would cause damage.
*****
(2) Ridges on sword-blades add stiffness, is the remnant of the bar or rod of steel from which the sword was made, and are created as the blade's final form is hammered out on either side, leaving a sort of raised centre-parting.
(If this is over-simplified or just plain wrong and swordsmiths reading it are going "Nooo!", please correct me!) ;->
Here's one example with a very prominent ridge, from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London...
Tumblr media
...and another with a more restrained centre-line from the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
Tumblr media
*****
(3) Sword shapes and features changed depending on functional requirements. If a shape worked and its use didn’t change, it stayed the same. The Roman gladius and Japanese katana are two examples of not much change in shape over several centuries.
Demands of fashion also played a part in what kind of sword was worn when and with what.
While swords (not just Messers or falchions or other "fighting knives") do appear without armour in medieval art...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...swords only became a regular part of civilian dress in the mid-late 1400s.
In Germany this was called a Reitschwert - "riding sword" - for self-defence when out (riding) in ordinary clothes. In Italy it was a spada da lato - "side-sword" - for what's now called EDC (every-day-carry) not just in war. In Spain it was an espada ropera - "robe sword" - for wear with regular clothes rather than armour.
That last one, worn down, mispronounced or just plain pinched, became "rapier", and because it was worn every day, with stylish garments, it became yet another way in which to show off.
The most common Europe-wide rapier was a "swept hilt", comprising bars and loops, while Spain and Spanish-influenced places like Italy preferred the "cup-hilt", which had a different style of swordplay.
Tumblr media
Cup-hilts are familiar from movies because it's easy to dress up a sport-fencing sword as something much older. Here's a stage-combat modern épée and two real rapiers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cup-hilts could be plain metal bowls like those, or beautiful examples of chiselled, pierced metalwork.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Swept-hilts could be equally impressive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were proof that their wearers were dedicated followers of fashion, men of wealth and taste - and, of course, always armed and just as always ready to use what they carried at the drop of whatever was just dropped.
Duelling became a craze, laws against it were ignored, any excuse would do, and Shakespeare summed it up nicely:
MERCUTIO:  Nay, and there were two such, we should have none shortly, for one would kill the other. Thou? why, thou wilt quarrel with a man that hath a hair more or a hair less in his beard than thou hast; thou wilt quarrel with a man for cracking nuts, having no other reason but because thou hast hazel eyes. What eye but such an eye would spy out such a quarrel? Thy head is as full of quarrels as an egg is full of meat, and yet thy head hath been beaten as addle as an egg for quarrelling. Thou hast quarrelled with a man for coughing in the street, because he hath wakened thy dog that hath lain asleep in the sun. Didst thou not fall out with a tailor for wearing his new doublet before Easter? With another for tying his new shoes with old riband? And yet thou wilt tutor me from quarrelling?
(That one about the doublet had echoes in 1922, with The Straw Hat Riot in New York, involving assaults on men who hadn't stopped wearing straw hats by the fashion-approved date of mid-September. At least nobody got run through...)
Oddly enough, portraits which include rapiers usually show swept-hilts, even in Spanish portraits where cup-hilts might be expected (I've seen a couple, but not many). Perhaps the artist didn’t have one to hand, or thought the swept-hilt style was more visually interesting.
The smallsword (shorter, lighter, less cumbersome to wear) replaced the rapier, and it too featured a lot in portraits. It was a piece of masculine jewellery, with a stiff narrow blade on an elegant hilt which might be metal...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...or some more exotic material like mother-of-pearl or porcelain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then fashion changed again, smallswords also went away, and once again the only people wearing swords on a regular basis were uniformed military types, whose swords could be all sorts of shapes and sizes depending on branch of service and function.
Even when that function is just to be part of regalia, and look good on parade.

Got any re8 Heisenberg headcanons? (I definitely am so normal about him)
Don't worry, I'm completely normal about him too.
Ethan works with Karl to stop Miranda, but they aren't exactly friends after that, but they learn to like each other.
Chris was originally was going to put Karl into the military as a living bioweapon, but with enough convincing. Ethan got him to just let stay with him and Rose. They're roommates now.
Karl is thankful for Ethan to help him avoid that fate, but he is still frustrated on how his life is in someone's hand. Now he has to listen to Ethan or run the risk of being killed or weaponized. So the anger is the living arrangement is mutual.
Karl tends to be untrusting of everyone, like a feral stray dog. So Karl stays in the basement and minds his business.
Ethan and Mia had a mutual divorce, The relationship was built on rocky ground, and they understand that. But what Mia doesn't understand is why Ethan would have this moldy hobo live with him, and frankly- he doesn't know either.
Karl was a stinky man. His hands are rough and dry, chipped sharp nails that seem to always have something underneath them despite that fact of him wearing gloves most of the time. He covered in a layer of grease, sweat and car oil, smells like copper, gasoline, sweat, cigars, rain dew and a hint of mold and rot. LOVEY ISN'T IT! A sensory overload dream. His hair WILL make a crunchy noise if touched, and don't bother trying to comb through it.
Ethan made sure that his mf got a shower with some actual soap. He may look the same but trust in the fact if you were in a room with him, you'll actually be able to hug him without getting high from the gasoline.
Karl's hair gets so fluffy when conditioned.
It took months before Ethan trusted Karl in watching Rose or let alone hold her.
Karl LOVES sweets.
He originally didn't know about Home Depot because Ethan was worry that there will quickly be no Home Depot.
There's no longer a Home Depot.
Heisenberg will melt when he hears Rose's first words.
The day that Heisenberg finds out what a Samsung fridge is- IT'S OVER!
Heisenberg lived off of military ration meals till now, so he has to resort to the next best thing here: hungry man TV dinners. And kid cuisine when Rose goes into solid food.
HE CAN COOK! To be particular, grill. But he's kinda going through that depression that led you to not take care of himself.
Karl HATES the rain, It rusts all his metal, and he is in content risk of getting struck by lightning, He's a living lightning rod. Ethan tries to be nice and help him by giving him a rubber rain suit, leading him to wear three layers of protection: fishing overalls, rain boots, raincoat, rubber gloves, rain hat and a rubber poncho.
You can hear him from a mile away with all that rubber squeaking.
Heisenberg surprisingly was a virgin for a long time, and it makes sense. He was too busy in his factory to be with anyone romantically nor platonically, let alone get laid. He never really cared till he thought about it now, especially when Ethan has living proof that he fucked. *CUT TO FUNNY KARL SPEED DATING SEQUENCE* this is probably a very sharp contrast to others hc of karl but idc it's my hc
Heisenberg and Ethan have that opposite attract dynamic, Karl gets to teach him that life doesn't end or need to be tense just because they're mole zombies. While Ethan teaches Karl to unpack his years trauma, cuz that shit will come to haunt you.
Ethan found some room for Heisenberg to sleep upstairs instead.
Eventually Ethan gets so close with Heisenberg he actually starts calling him by his first name.
That was noticed by Mia and Chris, which made them nervous in where Ethan loyalty would lie when something were to happen.
Heisenberg never had clean water before, so just imagine him with the crisp 3am water.
Chris only allows Karl to experience the outside monthly. But Ethan sneaks Karl with him when he can. As long, he doesn't scare anyone in town.
Karl is like a caveman entering the present day, He's culture shock is out of this world.
He loves the phrase "metal as fuck."
When Karl has a nightmare he rearrange his room to push all the metal out or nap in the living room. When Karl and Ethan got closer he started sleeping in Ethan's room. Even though their hearts beat slow, the human warmth is still there.
Karl never wants to talk about what his nightmare was about or why he feels better sleeping in a room with less metal.
Here some songs that I always relate to Heisenberg:
Now I'm about to go into what my hc is for Heisenberg before re8.
tw body horror and child abuse
I have the headcanon that Karl wasn't from the village, but his family was. He was born in the states and unknowingly has the genes that make him very susceptible to the mold mutation. Eventually, after his grandfather died and passed the factory/mines to his parents, they all moved to Europe. Explaining the contrasting transatlantic accent.
But like all things, Miranda had to ruin. She noticed the newcomers of the village; she saw how they also have a child and decided to take action. Miranda killed Karl Heisenberg's parents and took him in to experiment on with the cadou parasite.
His gift was unknown till one check up later after all of his complaints of feeling of something tearing into him. Miranda realized that there seems to be scraps of metal like nuts and bolts dug and tear through into his body to his bones like a magnet.
When he's in is REM sleep, his electromagnet powers moves and attract scraps of metal to him. Leaving him to wake up with blood on his sheets, but the wound already healed like nothing happened. But Karl does know it feels harder to move every day.
Miranda made sure to test him on his gift. He looks completely human and is powerful, he was almost perfect… The one single flaw in him is the fact that even as a helpless child that had no one else to rely on but her. He still hated her.
Heisenberg was the youngest of the four lords and the favorite, and he hated it. Dude would just spend all his time by himself, leaving himself tape recorders. He eventually started to entertain himself as if he was a radio host. The theater kid possesses him.
Eventually when he got older he got into contact with The Duke and was able to purchase tapes and machinery scraps from him. The tapes turned out to be American documents of ww2, leading Heisenberg to his American freedom fighter rhetoric.
When he detransform from his big monster form, he has to go get a lil help. He has to get rid of the pieces of metal without just tearing off pieces of his flesh, That shit is hard to grow back you know!

Here is a well-cared-for beautifully formal 1898 Victorian in New Orleans. It has one slightly disturbing thing in one bedroom and some people in my home group are saying it's haunted. Anyway, it has 5bds, 4ba, & is $4.790M + $1,250mo. HOA fee.
Tumblr media
Can you imagine what a great gothic manor this would make? It's already got the gray stone. Could you picture the HOA going insane if you wanted to paint it black?
Tumblr media
The grand entrance. I suppose it could look creepy at night.
Tumblr media
This home is so formal, it doesn't look like anyone lives here. Look at this navy blue sitting room.
Tumblr media
An even more formal sitting room, but oddly, the chairs are small and look uncomfortable for sitting for any length of time.
Tumblr media
Beautiful fireplace.
Tumblr media
Very formal dining room with a lovely fireplace. I think I see a pull, so those are more than likely pocket doors to close off the dining room while the staff lays the table.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the kitchen is super formal. I like the brick features and copper hood.
Tumblr media
Beautiful sun porch thru sliding glass doors in the kitchen.
Tumblr media
Look at this. A fireplace on the landing.
Tumblr media
This is lovely- rounded railing on that landing, plus a view of an enclosed porch with a fountain.
Tumblr media
The main bd is large, octagonal, and has a fireplace right beside the bed.
Tumblr media
Remodeled bath. I suppose that you could put a shower curtain on that rod, if you wanted to.
Tumblr media
I thought this was a very pretty room until I noticed the man doll by the chair. It's weird. I have a feeling that he ain't leaving.
Tumblr media
Here's a nice room and maybe they're leaving the armoire.
Tumblr media
I don't know what that dark room to the right is, but this porch is pretty nice. And, it has a terrace, too.
Tumblr media
The attic is a cavernous space.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the carriage house. Look at that round opening, what a great feature. It's currently empty. Maybe they told the tenants to move b/c the house is on the market.
Tumblr media
Just an empty space. It would make a good rental, though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the grounds are formal.
Tumblr media
Wow, the community has a gatehouse.

Workers removed the asphalt in Russia, and found this mysterious "road" made of metal.
You know that they would always have some fancy explanation to shape your perception of how primitive we were.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sarcasm aside, riding a horse with carts would definitely be a nightmare on a road like this, and not to mention walking.
These metal rods were used to delegate the electricity, and ground negative potential, and the dome towers used as Antenna receivers. The same thing was applied in ancient temples aka churches/mosques/temples that all had copper floors. 🤔

Homemade
Masterlist
Back in the cycle, while he was still a new spark but way before he was in charge of Nyon or when he enlisted in the autobot academy, Rodimus, or in that time, Hot Rod, was a servoful for his mentors in more than one way.
You see, in Nyon most of the time when new sparks emerge they are cared by the whole community as they have the tendency to emerge in batches of 5, more or less, but it is only normal to see a group of mechs in charge of them and is also normal to see a protoform bond deeper with a certain mech with time, the work of mentors widely integrated in their way of life, Nyon and every of it's compounds improving union in work, in groups, in life as a whole, it wasn't strange to see groups of protoforms in the arms of a a whole group of mechs and the occasional femme as the new sparks recharged without worry, sparklings running and playing around their mentors and never straying far from them even when their city was one of the most secure in all their side of Cybertron.
Hot Rod, little outlier bugger, had the strange tendency to almost give his mentors, a young couple of conjunx endurae new in the group, a malfunction on their fuel pump when doing one of his many mischievous acts, such as jumping from high heights as a ball of fire to see if he could fly or trying to run way too near a rupture or a crevice in the ground that separated the city from the rust sea and was way above more dangerous, his excuse? No one put something to say that it was dangerous before being scolded in how obvious it was to begin with to even put a signal to don't get near there when the unevenness of the ground is more than a clear indicator.
Still, after being scolded from Cybertron and back half the galaxy, one could see the red and orange sparkling with his spoiler slightly down, moping even when his intake wasn't fully formed and all you could see of his faceplate were two big and expressive optics, shinning bright with a little bit of cleaning fluid tears at the verge of falling before calming waves swallowed him whole, looking to the room and seeing a pair of green optics.
Hot Rod knew who it was in an instant and wanted to call his mentor to scoop him out with his servos, his vox and intake weren't totally developed but his EM field was enough to have the mech laugh softly before sitting next to his berth, giving him space to crawl out on his own, when he did so his mentor was already getting any dirt from his hiding spot away from his frame with delicate digits after handling him a cube full of energon, sparkling's grade colorful energon.
Nyon was very know for their resources, for how good the city was by itself, and of course the very know rainbow energon, admired by the changing colors while moving inside the cube or bottle, it was so optic catching that some bots didn't even consume it but just had it as a fancy decorative, Hot Rod would never understand those bots, the rainbow energon that Copperwire made for him was the best and not even a drop was left when he got his servos on a cube or the whole refinery.
It was a luxury, it wasn't exactly pricey, but it was a little dangerous to do as it was energon infused with a literal lighting without blowing away, another reason as for why Copper did it just in some occasions even when he was a pro at it and why Chandler was so against to give it to Hot Rod or any of the other sparklings, but specially Hot Rod, because their energy was out of the roof, and their red sparkling caught fire more times than not after ingesting rainbow energon.
"He is this wild because you spoil him so much", Chandler said while giving a mad and still clean Hot Rod to the hands of his conjunx endurae while he was a mess of muddy oil, only his servos could be seen as it was the only thing holding the burning sparkling, the yellow paint on his digits was slightly burned, another day taking care of him and seeing him almost jump to the oil lake near town, his mentor jumping helm first to stop a disaster, still, it didn't stop Copper from exacting vengeance on Hot Rod's behalf, going to the wash racks and turning the cleaning fluid his conjunx was using to such a low temperature that it could freeze Solus' forge.
So many problems, but they always there, even when things started to be difficult, they were still there for him after he started to live by himself, and Hot Rod was there when they had to starve in order to provide to the newly emerged protoforms, when it wasn't enough.
The only time they weren't with him was when Nyon was destroyed, as they had offlined way before the rule came to Hot Rod's servos in the most dire of times.
The idea of home, is distant, is hard and also a good memory he doesn't want to think about a lot in order to not wear it out, don't forget about it, about them, so he hardly think of Nyon, and woe whoever even brings up the topic and see his crescent fallen spoiler.
And so, he has a mixture of feelings when you just gave him your recent concoction.
He can't still compute on his processor how you did this without killing yourself in the process, it isn't really that difficult for a cybertronian at least, all you need to do is basic chemical formulas and a little of inspiration to have one of these, but humans are different and, as far as he knows, you don't have a filter system or a lab to even begin with to do this kind of thing.
It's like jelly, like the things they had way before the war, it jiggles from one side to the other as he move it but returns to it's first form flawlessly, his optics can't stop looking at the shape that is never forgotten by the material, he hasn't refueled since the last cycle and his HUD is watching what he has in his servo with growing necessity.
It's just, he can't, he could never.
"You have been looking at that cube for an hour or so, what's so great about it?"
Don't even get him started in how obvious it is that you don't know how to do fuel with things on your planet, it's not your area, and he understands why your clothes look new and why the engex refinery requested new filters.
"Rodimus, really, what has gotten into you?"
Your worried expression makes him look even more silly, the biggest and happiest smile on him, trying to put play again with to the endless and patronizing voice of Minimus while reminding him how a captain should act around their crew and how a proper cybertronian should act and handle interactions with an organic in order to prevent a bigger problem, also hearing the mechs aboard talk about xenophilia.
So, he says nothing, only contemplating the jellied energon on the cube, you said that it's supposed to be normal energon and maybe it will clog something inside his engines if he gets to consume it, for him to forget your strange incursion on alien cuisine, telling him to better throw it away even when he knows you have worked hard for it, suffering one or two big explosions to the face or maybe some electrocution by the way.
How could he do so? Before you have the opportunity to stop him, Rodimus does chug it down in one bite.
He doesn't regret it, not even when Ratchet is nagging endlessly on his reckless behavior after cleaning the rainbow colored mess that did indeed obstruc his tank, he doesn't regret it when you call him a fool for eating something that was an experiment.
Rodimus isn't lying when he says: "It was good", and his smile is the epitome of sincerity, you call him an idiot but he knows that there is no real weight on it as you kiss him with desired tenderness.

since I've seen people do this I'm also going to. if I made the minecraft movie, it would be:
completely animated except for one guy in a cosplay greenscreened in (he is not important to the plot and appears for like three seconds)
steve. is. B R O W N . like he damn well SHOULD BE.
universe kind of thing where the different planets are different servers (implied there's another universe with all the singleplayer worlds) (implied that herobrine is a curious astronaut in the singleplayer universe)
people dream of modded worlds
every couple decades an update happens and the world shifts
uhh okay story. main plot is that continents are shifting. rivers are being closed. something happening EVERYWHERE and cracks in the ground are slowly appearing and spreading all over the planet.
endermen are scarce, and they seem to be targeting specific blocks when they do show up. beacons, netherite, end rods, redstone and copper
they'll even stay out in the rain for a bit to get these blocks sometimes. it does hurt them but they power through when they can
getting a close look at one a character notices its hands end in gnarled, sharp claws that endermen didn't use to have. their spines are lined with small gray spikes and their eyes glow more intensely than before
there's something in the distance
the endermen all seem to leave in the same direction, they're going towards something. "should we go there?" asks someone. "it seems...dangerous" the people answer
interplanetary communication is invented. they immediately get a message from someone dealing with a demonic red hivemind plant
"I dunno, have you tried fire?" "YES IT DOESN'T WORK!!" "..soul fire?" "oh shit thanks"
are those eyes in the fog? there's something in the distance. there's something in the distance. th
eventually someone goes to the end. the dragon is gone. the egg is gone. the endermen are gone. the portal home is unlit. the island itself feels changed
new rumors and stories of something called The Eyes of The World appear, where seeing twisted towers full of eye-shaped holes heralds attacks none who witnessed would survive
someone mines into a cave and sees intricate but almost natural-looking tendrils of deepslate and tuff snaking through a cross-section of where it opens up. dozens of bright purple eyes are the only light in this place and suddenly-
a large city comes under attack from none other than the Ender Dragon. those that aren't panicking are wondering how it got to the overworld. they fend it off and someone follows it back to its new lair
it roars and something spreads. the cracking of ground is deafening and drowns out even the dragon's cry. something's wrong with the dragon
"hey, one of our satellites is detecting a change in the planet. what the fuck is that"
ice at the pole, gone. structures, gone. heightmaps, going crazy.
they fly planes out into the unknown, with powerful cameras in the noses
one gets attacked by the dragon. then another. then another. only one ends up being able to record what it's guarding before it too gets destroyed
satellite report. it's expanding.
they see what's out there and think the camera might have malfunctioned. they hope the camera malfunctioned. it didn't.
the endless expanse of confusion, that which the dragon and the endermen are bringing upon this overworld
it looks like something out of a nightmare. a massive fault in the land that encircles the entire planet, the far lands are slowly closing in on what's left standing.
is the dragon's tail supposed to be that long?
strange machines line the top of the far lands, made with redstone, copper, netherite, end rods and beacons
someone gets a flashback of killing the dragon. there was something watching them in one of the towers. they left without the egg
eventually the world's armies gather together to take down the dragon. what they find may look like a dragon but it does not move like one
they realize no one has ever seen the end of the dragon's tail, it goes all the way into the far lands
the dragon is eviscerating the armies, this is the world's last stand and it's falling quickly
that is not a dragon
a group of adventurers (detectives? soldiers?) find their way into the far lands, but now the dragon always knows where they are
they can never rest or slow down here. they sleep on flying machines in small tunnels as the monster tries to follow them
eventually they make it to the place it started spreading from. there is a massive alien palace with a design that makes it look like its blueprints were generated with one of the first ever AI art models (before everyone started hating them, think this[blank]doesnotexist websites)
the dragon's tail leads inside
one of the adventurers severs the dragon's tail from the palace. back at a city where the dragon is it starts disintegrating from the tail. sure it's dying but that could take a while so the battle's not over yet
back to the palace. there's a gargantuan creature that really can't be accurately described
it lost its planet and needed a new one with landscape fit for it so it decided to replace the world with far lands (its native home)
classic story where an eldritch monstrosity gets defeated by a group of like 4 people /hj
oh yeah and
Don't Put Piglins In The Fucking Overworld
maybe a few in some nether hazmat suits but any that aren't or didn't put them on properly WILL ZOMBIFY !!!!
end poem is like. religious texts or something idk I never read it

How does an Overhead Line Fault Passage Indicator work?
Being outdoors, electrical networks are subject to the ravages of nature throughout the year. From lightning, heavy rain, dust or even just local wildlife, these electrical networks become susceptible to faults forming over time.
When these faults occur, outages can take place which can affect large populations of end customers or industrial areas, causing dissatisfaction and revenue losses for the local utility. In our conversations with Utilities and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) firms, in the absence of a fault indicator, the standard practice involves several technicians walking or driving along the length of the line to find the exact location of the fault. In the case of a line such as an Aerial Bundled Cable (AB Cable) where the cables are bunched together, this practice becomes even more difficult as the technicians need to lower the line to find the fault. Additionally, if the fault occurs at night or in highly forested or hilly areas, this endeavour becomes increasingly difficult.
These revenue losses for Utilities and the extra cost of O&M for fault detection have led to the development of products to aid utilities or maintenance firms to quickly detect faults in their network. A Fault Indicator is a device placed underground or on overground electrical lines to provide utilities with either a visual or remote indication and location of a fault. These Fault Indicators are also referred to as Fault Passage Indicators (FPI), help the utility attain early information on the location of the fault, and take immediate action.
What is an Overhead Line Fault Passage Indicator?
An Overhead Line Fault Passage Indicator detects and indicates faults that occur in an electrical distribution network. It monitors the system 24×7 for fault occurrence and reduces downtime time by quickly identifying the fault location. A Fault Passage Indicator is installed under live conditions with the help of a hot stick and an adapter.
How does a Fault Passage Indicator work?
One Fault Passage Indicator is usually clipped onto each phase of the circuit allowing the utility or O&M firm to monitor current and faults in each phase. By placing the FPI’s at regular intervals along the line, the device can identify faults in the downstream section from its point of installation by monitoring the electromagnetic field surrounding the conductor. During the fault condition, the magnetic field around the conductor increases rapidly as a high current will flow through that path for a fraction of time (di/dt) & then suddenly breaks to zero as circuit breaker trips, this condition is sensed by the FPI & gives the alarm physically on-site & remotely to SCADA centre.
In the case of a non-communicable type, the FPI will give alarm physically on-site by blinking the RED Ultra bright LED & in the case of a communicable type the FPI gives alarm physically on-site as well as send the data to the SCADA centre through DCU over GSM/GPRS.
The illustration below provides a basic topology of a communicable system.
The FPI product ultimately aims to reduce the time and effort taken by maintenance technicians to find faults by providing visual and/or remote cues.
When a fault occurs, the fault indicators in front of the fault point will flash an LED to indicate the fault, the ones behind the fault point will not indicate the fault. The operator can easily identify the fault position (between the flashing and non-flashing indicators) by tracking the flashed indicators. It can help the operator to find out the fault point quickly. Permanent fault, transient fault and battery low voltage alarm can be indicated and distinguished separately by 3 different ultra-bright blinking LEDs. Two different alternating ultra-bright blinking LEDs indicate an Earth-fault. The parameters such as trip current, reset time, blinking interval, etc. are also read and adjusted over the wireless bidirectional network.
Features:
Axis Overhead Line Fault Passage Indicator detects an earth-fault using the signal injection method with the assistance of a device called signal source. The signal source provides improved accuracy in earth-fault detection. The Axis Overhead Line Fault Passage Indicator is designed as per IEEE 495-2007 international standard. An earth-fault and short-circuit fault indicator consists of three indicators, one for each phase and one for Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) for uploading data to System Server.
Overhead Line Remote Fault Indicators are usually used to monitor short-circuit faults and earth-faults. Three ultra-bright blinking LEDs indicate a fault in the network. The information about the fault and the current values can be uploaded to the Server System by utilizing available 2G/3G/4G networks.
 Advantage:
The main aim of an Overhead Line Fault Passage Indicator is to reduce the physical efforts needed to identify the faults & that occur in distribution networks. There is a significant reduction in the time, effort and manpower required for identifying faults.
AXIS Lightning Protection Systems are designed to protect structures and systems against Lightning damage. Axis tests its lightning protection products in accordance with Major international standards such as IEC, BS EN, and UL& IS. Contact Now!

Tumblr media
Where do we use Chemical Earthing?
Chemical Earthing is the backbone of all electrical installations, utilities, appliances, and systems. It is mandatory for all Electrical systems without any scope of relaxation for any type for anything related to electrical systems and electricity.
It is a must for all homes, residences, offices, institutions, buildings, structures, colleges, monuments, industries, oil and gas plants, refineries, hospitals, data centres, military installations, defence centres, and whatever and wherever electricity comes into play or exists.
What is a Chemical Earth Pit?
Tumblr media
What is the difference between Normal Conventional Earthing and Chemical Earthing?
Chemical Earthing differs from Normal Conventional Earthing on several grounds.
1) Back Fill Compounds used for reducing ground resistance: The Chemical Earthing utilizes Advance Ground Enhancing Compounds, also known as Chemical Earthing Powder, or Chemical Earthing Compounds based on bentonite, silica, or other chemicals in spite of using Charcoal and Salt, as used in conventional Earthing. The Bentonite Chemical for earthing is used the most, along with the Silica-based Back Fill Compound or Silica-based Chemical Earthing Powder.
2) Type of Earthing electrodes used: In Chemical Earthing, usually Earthing Electrodes like Pure Copper Earthing Electrodes, Copper Bonded Earthing Electrodes, GI Earthing Electrodes, Pipe-in-Pipe Earthing Electrodes are used in comparison to Pure Copper Earthing Plates, or GI Earthing Plates used in Conventional Earthing. The Chemical Earthing Material used in Chemical Earthing is far superior to the material used in Conventional Earthing.
3) Service Life of Earthing: Chemical Earthing has a long service life of 12–15 years in comparison to the 3–4 years of service life of Conventional Earthing. Chemical Earthing for homes goes a further long way in comparison to that of normally used conventional earthing.
4) Chemical Earthing Prices: Chemical earthing prices are far more reasonable than Conventional Earthing Prices owing to their longer service life. As the service life of earthing gets spread over more usable years in chemical earthing, its cost drastically gets reduced, thus providing more value and return on the investment.
5) Time/Effort required in Installation: Chemical Earthing requires less time and effort in installation in comparison to that Conventional Earthing. In Chemical Earthing, just 4–5 Inches of a hole is augured, in spite of digging a large pit as done in conventional earthing. Secondly, Chemical Earthing doesn’t require any additional effort and cost of laying a 1–3 meters perforated pipe with a funnel on the top to water the pit on a regular basis.
Tumblr media
What is Chemical Earthing Material/Compound?
Chemical Earthing Material is a low-resistance Compound that is inserted in the earth pit to surround the earthing electrode in such a way as to pack it from all sides while providing a close to zero resistance path to the current meaning for dissipating in the ground.
How to Install Chemical Earthing?
Installing Chemical Earthing is just a couple of hours job. It requires to follow following steps:
1) Dig a 4–5 Inches 1–3 meter pit-hole in the ground with the help of an augur.
2) Lay an Earthing Electrode into it.
3) Pour a slurry of Chemical Earthing Compound into the pit hole to surround and pack the earthing electrode in it.
4) Connect the Earthing Electrode Terminal protruding out of the earthing pit on the top of the chemical earthing pit with the load/application through the GI Earthing Strip, Copper Earthing Strip, or Earthing wire.
5) Cover the Earthing Electrode with Pit Cover to protect it from vandalism.
How much does Chemical Earthing cost ?
The Chemical Earthing price starts from 4–5 thousand and goes up depending on the type of earthing electrode and the backfill compound we are using for the earthing installation. The Copper Chemical Earthing price is higher than the other types of Earthing which use other types of Chemical Earthing Rods or Earthing Electrodes. The Chemical Earthing Rods Prices play a major role in deciding Chemical Earthing Prices.
We at True Power manufacture all types of Earthing Electrodes, including Pure Copper Earthing Electrodes, Copper Bonded Earthing Electrodes, GI Earthing Electrodes, Pipe-in-pipe Earthing Electrodes, along with Chemical Earthing Rods of different types.

notable things about Hippie School i can remember besides looming, overpowering depression
Eurythmy! they literally never explained what exactly it is to us but we like, did steps to live piano music and moved these copper rods around
Outside time. We had a morning snack where we went outside and did PE out there too, but in the early morning we went out to play games as a class
festivals and celebrations. they were held on school grounds, and they’d invite sellers to offer their wares. one of them, i think it was for midsummer? or midwinter? i don’t remember, but the 6th grade always made this huge long dragon costume and ran around, and the younger grades would have these little wooden swords that they’d “attack” us with and put chains around us, then lead us away as part of the festivities. there was also the Winter Spiral where we made wishes and left apples with candles on them in a big spiral of evergreen foliage, and may poles in the spring too!
Main Lesson Books. We made our own textbooks with drawings and hand lettering in cursive about our main subject for the month. I still have some of mine, and they’re quite cool!
Woodworking, sewing, handwork.
Sex ed was really fun too, somehow. we made anatomically correct penises from beeswax and had an anonymous question box for that kind of stuff
8th grade projects. we chose a topic that interested us, and studied it the whole year, giving a presentation at the end about it. Mine was on breeding mantises but it didn’t work out that well
it was an interesting experience to say the least. a lot of the things they taught us stuck with me cause we didn’t just regurgitate information

Sprouting
Summary: It started when he was young, soon after Professor Gast left. Sephiroth tried desperately to hide it. But it hurt, and like everything in the lab, nothing hid from Hojo’s gaze.
Please enjoy.
Sephiroth had not left his room. He was three minutes late, three minutes Hojo would rectify through more rigorous training. This was completely unnecessary and disrespectful.
That boy would learn obedience no matter the circumstances. He had two minutes before the scientist broke the door down.
“Sephiroth,” Hojo spat with two bangs on the metal door, “get out here.”
“I can't!” The boy's response came much faster than it should have if the boy was telling the truth.
“Sephiroth.”
“I can't! I really can't!”
“Then unlock the door so we can treat this ailment properly.”
“No!” The child rapidly denied. “No no no- I'll be okay! I just need to stay here until I'm okay! I'll work twice as hard tomorrow! Promise!”
“'I promise', you insufferable child,” The scientist corrected. “And my answer is still no. Stop being so annoying.” Then Hojo heard sobbing. Low, attempted, quiet sobbing, but sobbing nonetheless.
“I don't wanna be bad… I don’t- I really don’t… Just let me be bad today and I'll be really really really good tomorrow…”
“You will be perfect even if I need to rip out all your worthless imperfections myself, boy!” This bang stung his hand, but he felt no pain. “Open. This. Door. Now!”
“NO!”
These fruitless minutes already irritated the scientist, but this childish temper tantrum filled him with rage. He slipped his key into the lock and opened the door himself.
Every object was thrown or shoved to every section of the room. Books from the fallen shelf were ripped and open faced on the floor. The mattress rested against the far wall, the bed frame dented and splintering. All loose folders and papers littered the ground, but some were stained with drops of blood. Claw marks marred every wall and surface, some even stained red with bleeding fingertips. But the deepest crimson led to the bathroom.
Still no sign of the boy.
Hojo grabbed the inner door and tried to jerk it open. A metallic clatter responded from the lock. He didn't warn or ask, inserting a separate key.
The smell of copper hit him like a wall.
A ruby explosion soiled every surface, heavy drops running down the mirror as rain does a window. Flecks of beige and white freckled every inch, some even dyed pink with time. The toilet, the sink, the mirror, all were subjected to the same fate. Except for the shower.
The curtain rod fractured in two, its steel speared points without any red. In the resulting bathtub laid the cardinal sullied curtain that trembled over the boy, blocking and protecting him from sight. However, nothing could muffle his petering sobs.
Only one theory ran through Hojo's mind: did this boy harm himself? Did he try to kill himself? This psychotic break could shut down the program completely, and the boy's life would be terminated to confirm no possibility of continuation outside of Shinra's sight. No. Word could not spread, no matter what. This was unacceptable.
The scientist clutched the tip of the white plastic curtain, but the boy yelped sharply in pain and jerked him off, twisting and writhing and clenching away but not touching the wall.
“Hojo, please! I-I can stop this! I-I just need time!”
“Let me see it.” He would assess the boy's injuries himself.
The boy shook his head vigorously, and only then did Hojo realize something else was wrong.
The curtain moved from the bottom of the tub near the drain. Two lumps pinning the curtain remained by his head, obviously his hands, and two others remained at the end of the tub, his bare feet. The single position that could justify the boy's orientation was simply laying down, so what was this large mass sticking above the walls of the tub, tenting the curtain to its limits?
“Let me see it so we can get you the care you clearly need. This isn't up for debate, Sephiroth.”
“It still hurts too much! Please!”
Hojo reached for it again, this time with a bit more caution.
The boy screamed, “WAIT!”
The voracity in the child's voice made the scientist delay for a moment but only with a very good reason.
“H-here…” Sephiroth hesitantly released his death grip on the fabric and handed a single corner to his caretaker. “Please… please be careful…”
Hojo took the offering and yanked the fabric up, allowing the boy to suffer the least from its removal as Hojo came face to face with a massive gray wing.
The wing was proportional to Sephiroth's entire body, at least the span that he was tall. Each feather was perfect down, soft and fuzzy and useless for flight even if the boy had two wings. No, he only had one rooted in his right shoulder blade, somehow connected with a ball in socket joint just as a shoulder itself. It was folded but upward, not touching any obstacles or objects in the room. Sephiroth, however, was face down, trembling, as he carved more scratches in the porcelain like a kneading cat, reaching futility for any kind of relief. Both the wing and the boy were covered in blood and bone debris, but the elbow of the wing also held torn skin.
Hojo scanned and scanned, conflicted deep in his chest. On one hand, this was an incredible discovery, Jenova's cells mimicking even creatures he had not seen out of books. On the other, the child before him was deathly pale, the lost blood and unhealed damage actually threatening the boy’s life. The project itself was threatened.
“Get up,” Hojo grabbed the boy's hand and pulled him to his feet, genuinely avoiding any contact with the newborn wing. He grabbed the child by the waist and hoisted the boy over the tub.
“I can't train today…” The boy begged as he was pulled out of his cell.
“We're going to the exam room.”
“No- wait- Hojo, please don't touch it-”
“I’ll take X-rays first and determine where to go from there. If it’s still uselessly sensitive, an orderly will bring you pain medication.”
“Th-There’s medicine for pain?”
“Only for absolute emergencies, so don’t ask for any.” They entered the room, and Sephiroth climbed up and laid face down on the cot. Hojo’s black eyes analyzed the growth. “A surgical procedure is necessary.”
“What will a procedure do?”
“We'll find connections between the wing and your body. Muscles, tendons, veins, arteries. Possibly gain some answers as to how it appeared. Now stop asking questions and stay perfectly still.”
Sephiroth nodded, looking down. “Yes, sir…”

The Dead End Doctor: Student and Teacher
Content Warnings: Severe Injuries, Uncertain Survival
Matthias rolled from one side to the other, looking to the door of his shack with groggy annoyance. He had been awoken by a familiar sound, and one that often disturbed his slumber. He groaned, heaving himself out of his modest bed. Another knock, and louder this time, and he looked at the still-sleeping Stell on his medical bed, breathing steadily now and no longer whimpering.
Memory flashed through his mind, glimpses of the night before. Sitting up with the kit, taking notes, waiting for them to calm and for their fever to break before he got any rest of his own. He also remembered the sunlight pouring in through the window as he readied himself for bed, Matthias having pulled the curtains shut to keep the light from disturbing the shack's inhabitants.
Seeing the kit sleeping soundly, Matthias couldn't help but smile softly, grateful the young one was no longer in pain. Another knock pulled him from his thoughts, and his smile faded to the thin line of neutrality. He padded over to the door, unlocking it and opening it to the sight of a young Weather, slightly younger than the Stell laying in the cot behind Matthias.
They were clad in a harness bearing two pouches on either side, heavy with whatever contents were in them. Their pale white fur was in stark contrast to Matthias' own midnight blue, the ends jagged and charged with a subtle orange energy, crackling around them. Their ears and the fur of their tail matched the color of the sparks traveling through their fur, and their eyes were a brilliant yellow, and locked onto Matthias instantly with laser focus.
"Hello, Gr-" The Lucern was interrupted as the Weather rushed past him, making a beeline for the metal rod hooked to a thick braid of copper leading into the ground. The Weather wasted no time in pouring every last ounce of charge they could muster into the rod, the lights in Matthias' home growing brighter for the duration.
He simply waited, watching the girl exhaust her charge. As she let go of the lightning rod, she turned to Matthias with a big grin, rushing back over to him. It always astounded the old cat just how much energy she had, even for a Weather. "Matty, Matty, guess what I did today!!!"
Matthias raised his eyebrows, shutting the door as he stepped past her and approached the Stell on the cot, preparing to change his bandages. "What might that be, Miss Grace? Did you perhaps remember to bring my salt shipment from the apothecary?"
Grace grinned, nodding as she turned in circles, trying to reach one of the pouches before slumping to the floor, dizzy. She giggled, standing up and using her tail to push the flap of one of the pouches up, revealing a sealed tub of salt. "Got it right here, Mister Matty!"
Matthias gave her a grateful nod, padding over to take the salt from her pouch, placing it on his ingredient table before returning to his patient, setting to work changing their bandages. "So, you said that you did something today. I assume bringing my salt was not the exceptionally exciting thing you wished to tell me?"
Grace grinned from ear to ear, darting over to watch Matthias carefully, eyes moving rapidly, scanning every detail of what he was doing. She did this often, studying his motions, knowing how practiced they were and keen on replicating them when she inevitably helped in his efforts.
"I came across this kit, Weather like me, and he had this rash on his whoooole left side, and it turns out he was playing with some friends, and they got a little carried away, and he-" Grace was silenced by Matthias putting a paw to her muzzle gently.
"Breath, Miss Grace, is important. I appreciate your excitement as much as I appreciate you being here, but it will do neither of us any good if you fall unconscious from lack of breath, would it?"
He returned his paw to the bandages, carefully removing the layers of cloth from the sleeping Stell. Grace buzzed a little, his off-handed compliment not going unnoticed by the hyperactive Weather cat. She ran over to the lightning rod, letting out a bit of her charge and brightening the lights as she did, before stepping back to the cot.
"Okay, Okay, you're right Matty. So, this kit, playing, got carried away with his friends, yeah? And he winds up falling into, ready for it? A fireberry bush! The entire left side of his body was covered in irritations and rash spots from the stuff!"
Matthias' eyes widened a little. While fireberry was little more than an irritant with proper treatment, if left alone it could develop into boils, and be incredibly painful. It was rarely severe, and never fatal, but he had seen first-hand how drastically it could impact one's quality of life while under the effect.
"I assume you treated him, then? Did you follow the process I taught you, and make sure to keep him comfortable and aware of every step?" He asked, tossing the old bandages from the sleeping kit into the medical waste bin before setting about examining the wounds.
"I did!" Grace yipped excitedly, fur beginning to spark again. "He was so scared at first! But he relaxed, and let me look him over. It was pretty bad, he even had it in some pretty unpleasant places. But we got it sorted!" She grinned, pride radiating from her in small bolts and sparks popping off from her spiky fur.
Matthias raised an eyebrow, glancing at her before returning his gaze to the injuries he was tending to. They were strange, the irritation was gone but he couldn't see any sign of healing whatsoever, and while it was expected the signs would be minimal, there should be some indication. And yet the wound was as fresh as when he had found them.
"Miss Grace, I do wish to hear more of your escapades with the rash, but I need another set of eyes on this injury. Yours are admittedly sharper than my own, and I trust you've been studying the journals I've sent home with you. Does anything about this wound stand out to you?"
He stepped back, letting Grace approach. Her excitement dissipated, and her ears folded back. Matthias smiled, watching her straighten up, her relaxed posture shifting to one of extreme focus. This was his favorite part of teaching her. She took everything as sincerely as could be, and while she had an energy and an unprofessional air almost all of the time, she was uncharacteristically silent and serious when she needed to focus.
After a few minutes, she stepped back and nodded for Matthias to come back over, her trademark smile returning as quickly as it had faded. The Lucern did as he was instructed, looking carefully at the injury on the Stell's side as Grace explained her findings.
"I'm guessing it was Death Drakes? The laceration patterns indicate serrated claws, which aren't unique to them, but the irritant burns imply some sort of toxin or venom, which together make me think Drakes because, y'know, of all the things we know of in the forest there's only like three that have serrated claws AND toxins, and the other two things would have eaten him outright instead of trying to hurt him first given his size, relative to theirs."
Matthias was impressed, she'd certainly been paying attention. He nodded, gesturing to the injuries that concerned him most, specifically the large gash across the kit's side. The gash that, as far as he could tell, was not healing in the slightest.
"This injury bothers me. I treated it to the best of my ability, they've been here since early last night, and yet it's not healed in the slightest. There's still bleeding, and there's no scar tissue or even the slightest indication of tissue repair at all. Not even the discoloration that comes with the healing process."
Grace headed to the basin, washing her paws carefully as Matthias watched her. When she was done, she headed to the other side of the cot, leaning over to look at the gash once again. A few moments of inspecting it, and her eyes widened a little. She reached a paw towards it, extending a claw and, to Matthias' confusion, pressing it against the gash and dragging the blunt top of her claw along the length of it.
The kit winced, letting out a mewl of pain. Matthias was about to question Grace until she lifted her paw away, a clear and viscous liquid connecting her claw to the gash. She leaned in, sniffing the fluid before making a disgusted face. "Oh, Oh goddess...This is...Ugh, Matty you might want to..."
Matthias looked warily from Grace's expression to the strand of liquid connecting her claw to the wound. He leaned in and recoiled almost the instant he inhaled. It was putrid, like sulfur and bile in the most unholy combination. He gagged, wretching a little as he stepped away.
Grace shook her claw, severing the strand of gooey liquid and making her way to the basin to wash her paws again, rinsing them clean of the strange fluid. She returned to the patient, sitting beside the cot in silence. Matthias was about to speak, when Grace suddenly piped up.
"What did you treat him with? Antivenom would have been enough to stop their secretions from killing him, but it wouldn't have done anything for the wounds themselves. What else did you use? You didn't use Malenthide Extract, did you?"
The Weather looked at him in concern, and Matthias turned to his table, grabbing his journal and flipping through to last night's notes. Sure enough, Malenthide Extract had been one of the ingredients he'd used in his new concoction. It had properties that supported the healing process, but as he scoured his notes he made a realization.
"It would seem in my desperation to ensure this kit's survival, I used not only Malenthide, but Heartroot and Shale Flower as well." He cursed himself silently. He knew better, the first two not only counteracted each other, but the Shale Flower had been included as a base to allow for easy transmission through the blood, an anti-coagulant and a lubricant agent.
"Matty, we need to get a coagulant going now. That mixture's not going to do anything except quicken the blood flow. I'm sure it helped spread the antivenom, but beyond that all it's done is stop his wounds from clotting, no wonder he's not healing!"
Matthias slumped, sitting. He knew Grace knew her way around his ingredients as well as he did, and that she would have the coagulant mixed faster than he could. He had a moment to process his mistake. He thought back, the desperation of the night having clouded his thoughts and nearly costing this kit his life. No wonder he was so calm. He had lost so much blood through the night that he was too weak to be struggling.
Grace dashed from place to place, from the table to the chemistry equipment by the basin, and as she worked to mix the coagulant, Matthias stood, leaving the shack and facing the unforgiving brightness of the daylight. He sat, tail curling around and up in front of him, between his front paws.
Closing his eyes, he thought, mapping out the stars he was so familiar with. He turned to face what he expected was the direction of the moon, unable to see it due to the overwhelming brightness of the blue sky above. He bowed his head, closing his eyes again as he began his prayer.
"Benevolent Moon, Mother of Night, Patron of the Children of Shadows, I call on your aid. I have erred, a mistake I fear I cannot make right. I am aware of our history, and the lack of faith I've shown you. But you have offered your kindness before, and I ask that you do so yet again. There is a Stell kit, weak and dying, in my home. They are young, and still have many years to experience in this world. I beg of you, aid them. Give them the strength to pull through. Take what you must from me, but please, do not take them."
He opened his eyes, fighting the tears welling up in them. He rarely made mistakes this grievous. As he stood, returning into his shack, he saw Grace already administering the coagulant. He knew he could count on her. She was as clever as he was, and twice as observant. He approached the kit and, as the Lucern and his Weather apprentice shared a look of concern, the pair set to work bandaging his wounds again.
Grace's ears folded back as she stepped back, sitting beside the foot of the cot and watching the Stell's side rise and fall with each breath. They were steady, slow, weak. The Weather suddenly felt a blanket being laid over her, and she looked back to the Lucern wrapping it around her.
"Thanks, Matty...Do you think he's going to be okay?" She asked, looking back at the Stell. The constellations of his body were dim, faded, but still shining with the light of life. His body radiated the trademark light of his kind, dull though it was.
"I think that, if my mistake was not discovered too late, and if he gets the right help, he'll be fine. But I need to prepare you for the alternative...He very well may die, Miss Grace. It is an unfortunate reality of this line of work. You cannot save them all."
Grace looked at Matthias with wide eyes, her mouth slightly agape. It was a reality she hadn't had to face yet, with Matthias often handling the more serious cases himself. The idea that her first severe case would end in the loss of the person she was treating was a possibility she didn't want to face. Didn't want to acknowledge.
Matthias looked down at the young Weather, tears filling her eyes. His expression softened, and he leaned down, butting heads with her gently before looking into her eyes, determination filling his own as he carefully chose his next words.
"We cannot save them all. But that does not mean we aren't going to do absolutely everything in our power to try. We are doctors. It is our duty of care."
