A long time ago, you began your career as a television writer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, before moving to Los Angeles, and eventually getting a shot at producing Saturday Night Live in 1975. It’s important to remember that the odds of becoming as powerful and rich as you have is a longshot at best. A man who has garnered over 60 Emmys, produces several television shows and films, and has turned names like Sandler, Ferrel, Rock, Belushi, Chase, Radner and Murphy into very rich and famous people says something about your power.

But here’s the thing.

Spider-Man warned us that with great power comes great responsibility.

Now don’t get me wrong. No one loves a hard laugh more than me. In fact, for many years, I was the class clown, making jokes and getting laughs, having spent many hours in the principal’s office or detention. Sometimes, I went a bit far but ultimately, I knew where to draw the line. I’m not so sure that you do.

Last week, former Saturday Night Live star Cecily Strong backed out of playing Representative Elise Stefanik on the show because she was “uncomfortable” with the heavily criticized sketch. You know, the one where you mocked Rep. Elise Stefanik, the one person trying to stop blatant hatred of Jews. You could have mocked and castigated Mrs. “It depends on the context” Magill, the clown who couldn’t say a genocide against Jews constitutes bullying or harassment. Now that, Lorne, would have been funny. But don’t take my word for it. There were many people who were shocked at that decision.

Journalist Jake Wallis Simons asserted, “Can’t believe SNL decided to mock those demanding tougher action on Jew-hatred on campus rather than those making excuses for calls for genocide.”

Meghan McCain mentioned that there is a “400% increase in antisemitic hate crime since October 7th and SNL thinks it’s hilarious…This is vile. Vile.” Dr. Sara Yael Hirschhorn noted, “This is really appalling – [NBC] do you think antisemitism is acceptable as the punchline of a joke about American society? This needs to be investigated by the FCC.” Kevin Haggerty wrote, “The disconnect from humor caused by the ‘woke mind virus’ found Saturday Night Live taking heat for a ‘vile’ skit. This is no longer satire. This is propaganda.” The ADL has tracked multiple ‘Weekend Update’ jokes this season that inappropriately using Jews as the punchline.

In fact, a few years ago during the Corona crisis, host Michael Che “joked” about Israel’s coronavirus vaccine rollout: “Israel is reporting that they’ve vaccinated half of their population. I’m going to guess it’s the Jewish half.” The ADL told Fox News that “basing the premise of the joke on factual inaccuracies and playing into an antisemitic trope inspires the mass murder of countless Jews throughout the centuries.”

Lorne, we all appreciate that ratings are key. But you could have found a dozen things to make fun of, yet instead chose to mock someone who is defending your rights. And Lorne, I think we all know that if the victims of these three morally bankrupt school presidents were not Jewish but black, that skit never would have aired. Even Al Sharpton, hardly a close friend of Jews, agreed and commented that if this vitriol was directed toward the black community, buses and protests would immediately line the streets.

The question that begs to be asked is why? Why do you continually choose to satire and mock Jews when you are one yourself?

The NBC office and the Rockefeller walls are not immune to mobs of terrorists like the ones who ran through colleges chanting “death to Jews.” As history has shown us, Hitler didn’t discriminate between the Jews he gassed.

What’s worse, the humor fell flat and opened the door to more haters of Jews. The only people that should have been mocked were the three antisemites in sheep’s clothing. Instead, your writers castigated the one courageous woman who chose to stick up for Jews when practically everyone else remained silent. And she’s not even Jewish.

Rather than mock her, you should thank her for her courage in fighting injustices.

No one is asking you to give up your $500 million empire. No one is asking you to march in Washington or donate to an Israeli cause. Asking you to stop adding fuel to the fire of antisemitism is not a huge ask.

In many ways, G-d chose to place you in a powerful position to help. To make a difference. But perhaps without intending to do so, you hurt a lot of people who take these threats and attacks very seriously. In fact, we have 6 million reasons to take these actions very seriously. You could follow the lead of other powerful individuals, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Schwimmer, Steven Spielberg, Patricia Heaton, Debra Messing, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mayim Bialik, Amy Schumer, Jon Voight, Madonna, Adam Sandler, Michael Rapaport, or the countless others who have chosen to stand up against tyranny and hate. Yet, for some reason, you chose the opposite.

Perhaps the most ironic aspect is that you were born on a kibbutz before your parents emigrated to Toronto.

Imagine if they decided to stay on that kibbutz.

Imagine if your whole family was there on October 7.

Ten to one, I’ll bet it wouldn’t depend on context.

While music will always be the Alpha and the Omega for my inspiration (Shoutout to Hall & Oats, it’s always Thursday in space!) and the reason Tales of Taskforce Sol and I Became War For You actually exists, thinking about it just made me realize how many sources of inspiration I have.

Of course there’s the self-explanatory ones like things one experienced himself (visiting cities for example) or historical events, they’ll do their part. I do have a Corona-Virus Chapter for example.

Canon (Legends in Star Wars, all of them when it comes to Sailor Moon) and nods to it, are a big part as well. As well as headcanons (shoutout to @sailorheadcanons, the idea that some of the Senshi are not purely Japanese came from some HCs over there).

Then there’s fan art, from outfits to scenes they are one of my main sources as well. A beautiful piece of art I came upon lately for example inspirated me for the outline of the ending of Sequel Number Two.

Reading also inspires me a lot, as apart from the obvious Star Wars Legends Characters and Worldbuilding (thanks Wookieepedia as well!) a book can also spark an idea. The Rago Arc for example was very much inspired from a scene in the Corellian Trilogy books. Writing per se gets a lot of inspiration from fanfiction as well. I do get motivation to write from Poseidon’s Bounty for example.

I do have a Muse (actually two but i only talk about one) as well. I draw a lot of the sensuality and divinity of one of the female main characters from a certain Italian Diva in her younger years and she definitely will be the archetype for when there ever will be another sequel with middle-agged/ older characters.

Other Media (for example Games and Movies) have influence as well. I mean Sci-Fi per se has so many nods and even Cameos (Terminator or Saber Rider for example) in ToTFS. It’s also an Hommage to the whole Space-Western-Genre. But there’s more than that I draw from. Just lately i saw Tenet and there were some scenes I was like “Shit, I need stuff like that in IBWFY too”. Of course we already had lots of spy stuff and a nod to James Bond but the whole James Bond on Ampethamines Vibe of the movie catched me and I want to do another one. Although that chapter will see a different type of secret agent as our James Bond type hero will be a emerald-haired, 1,78cm tall Demigoddess with the body of a young Monica Bellucci and the Bond Girl will be a bearded antihero who’s way to unsubtle as spy but really good at blowing stuff up with superior fire power and turns our Jane Bond on not because he’s coming out of the sea in white speedos but with his talent as foster father in their little big defunctional family which also features two space lesbians, one of them an always cursing Brit who shares the same unhealthy drinking habits as bond boy. So, yeah. I do have tons of things I get inspiration from, and ToTFS is at least a love oath to music and two fandoms but probably even more and one to pop culture per se. Do I have fun putting all these sources together for my little, cracky Space-Opera-turned-Anti-War-Epos? Hell yeah!

A new virus dubbed Corona Virus Disease, which had its roots in Wuhan, China, shocked the world in the early years of 2020. (COVID-19). The virus outbreak has resulted in numerous losses and inequities in many facets of life, particularly about the global economy. Regardless of their size, a lot of businesses must shut down since it is impossible to predict when they will reopen. The gaming sector, on the other hand, has not only been the least harmed by this pandemic but thrives in it. This is due to a decrease in outside activities and an increase in inside activities. Social gaming is becoming a substitute for traditional social involvement and interaction.

As a result, playing video games continues to draw more and more individuals every day out of all the conceivable things to do during the lock-down. Video games have become a very prevalent and well-liked pastime because of the coronavirus lock-down, as people have begun to rediscover their old favorites or enjoy trying out new ones to pass the time. There has been an astonishing increase in players from around the world's online activity, according to the gaming industry.

The COVID-19 outbreak has produced peaks and valleys for the larger gaming sector. Over the years, the gaming market in Indonesia has grown steadily. Even years before the COVID-19 pandemic occurs, the development is astounding. More than 70 million people worldwide played video games in 2017, and 90 million people played them in 2018. The number of video game users in Indonesia has topped 100 million in 2019, demonstrating the country's youth's interest for video games and eSports. Additionally, Indonesia, one of the top 10 countries in the world for mobile video game income generation, achieved 40 million mobile video game users in 2019 and is anticipated to produce US$712 million in revenue in 2020.

Finally, the epidemic might cause esports to become more commonplace. I had to make a small story for a class more than a year ago, in 2021. We had to come up with a scenario about why a teacher was missing for the first class and why he’s often late. It was for a live action short movie.

Here's the story I imagined, although it won't be written like an actual story but more like a (long) summary.

"The teacher had been missing for the past two weeks.

There's a mention of a recent earthquake followed by thunder ; the thunder is heard more frequently these days.

After more than half an hour, the teacher still isn't there, he is therefore considered absent, turning this class into a free period. The students however stay in the room, waiting for their next class to start.

They discuss about the teacher: nobody knows what he looks like, they theorise on his repeated absences. Some theories are funny, others ridiculous, from alien abduction to Corona Virus, etc.

In the end, they think that the problem comes from the school itself: they might not have informed the teacher that he had a class ; it wouldn't be the first time they made that kind of mistake. The class is disappointed but agree that it might be the most plausible reason.

The teacher finally arrives but the period is nearing its end. He apologies: there was traffic jam because of a car accident ; his first absence was due to a family tragedy and the second time was because of an injury.

One of the students, once at home, out of curiosity and boredom, searches for the teacher's name online and finds a profile with a picture that doesn't match with the man met earlier.

The news on TV talk about the accident that the teacher mentioned, and a weird thought came to the student's mind: did the teacher cause that accident?

Another day.

The teacher is hurrying, not wanting to arrive late once more. One of his students is in the same situation and notices the teacher, the student decides to keep their distance to avoid an awkward moment.

Then, an unexpected event occurs. The teacher seems to have noticed something, we see him hesitate: he doesn't want to disappoint his students but he must intervene. The student watches from afar, hidden.

The teacher turns out to be a hero: a costume was hidden underneath his clothes, Superman style.

He has to fight a demon that possessed a student.

He succeeds in freeing the student pretty easily, he remarks that this demon was pretty weak. We then hear a voice revealing that this demon was weak because it was giving its energy: a wicked sorcerer that the teacher had already faced before.

That sorcerer is especially powerful because he now has Power Morpher in his possession in the form of a headband and gloves, which surprises the teacher who is then sent in another dimension. The student who stealthily observed it all was shocked by the teahcer's sudden disappearance.

The teacher finds himself in a comic book where he has to fight the sorcerer.

(I didn't draw the Power Morphers, I'll explain why later)

After successfully taking the Power Morphers off of the sorcerer, the teacher beats his opponent.

Without time to catch his breath, we suddenly hear thunder and a booming voice. The teacher can't believe it, this is a disaster: the Big Bad appears like a maleficent silhouette.

(I didn't need to come up with a name so I settled for "Big Bad", was good enough to me)

Big Bad: "You and your master had banished me in another dimension, in the past. But now, I'll use this dimension created by my underling to break free and I'll be able to conquer your pathetic world."

Teacher: "Not while I'm standing."

The teacher puts on the headband Power Morpher and gathers all the energy he can. Then, he unleashes a powerful energy wave that tears the comic board from the inside!

The teacher is thus back in the real world, weakened and wounded while the Big Bad is stil, trapped in another dimension.

The teacher collapses and the student who had witnessed it all (well, at least the start and end of it) rescue him.

The student brings the teacher to the classroom where his classmates are. Everyone is shocked and worried. Nobody believes the preposterous story told by their comrade until the teacher uses his power to pull an object into his hand.

The whole class ask for explanations, the teacher gives them:

-he isn't their real teacher, the latter died before their first class so the current teacher took over

-the Big Bad is a demon who seeks to conquer every worlds

A student ask: 《And what's this?》 pointing at a Power Morpher (maybe the gem on the teacher's costume). The teacher that the Power Morphers come from an "hyperdimension" and grant powers ; there's one type of power for each.

The Morphers are: a necklace ; a wristband or a watch ; a ring ; a mask or pair of glasses ; a pair of shoes ; a pair of gloves ; an earring ; a headband and lastly,  the teacher's costume.

A student takes the ring: 《My preciiioooouss...》 he jokes before getting lightly hit by a classmate who asked him to stop joking around.

The teacher states that new Power Morphers have most likely appeared (since among those listed above, some didn't exist before), which proves to be a real threat because the Big Bad might break free from his dimensional prison thanks to the Morphers' power.

The class decides to help their teacher, each student take a Power Morpher.

Like I said, we had to imagine a scenario for a live action short movie. We would film the scenarios but didn't have much budget, however our teacher didn't want us to mind the budget issue.

I was inspired by a dream I had when I became a Power Ranger, I was also inspired by the "Jackie Chan Adventures" animated series, and by Dr. Strange too.

So the teacher would be a hero fighting sorcerers & demons and to compensate the low budget, I thought that the fights could take place in other dimensions. At first, I thought about a Lego dimension that would be made in Stop Motion, but I didn't have enough legos and Stop Motion would have taken too much time. So I thought about a comic book dimension as it would be easier to make.

(In 2022 came out "The Guardians of Justice" which had the same idea of mixing live action with stop motion or 2D animation, especially when it comes to scenes with superpowers. I wonder if someone else used this concept before. Probably.)

Since I had limited time and the teacher said that I could make the drawings pretty simple, like, only one drawing for the fight, I came to the conclusion that drawing a "beam clash/beam struggle" was the easiest and clearest way to show a fight with a sorcerer.

For the same reason, I only made 4 drawings, and because we weren't going to use all of those ideas, I didn't need to draw the sorcerer's Power Morphers so I didn't drew them (also, I forgot, but maybe I drew before coming up with what the Morphers would actually look like, I'm not sure...🤔)

And instead of drawing a Power Morpher, I gave the sorcerer a magic staff, to make him look more like a sorcerer.

I really wanted to draw the scene where the teacher tear the comic board from the inside but I didn't have the time to try it and, also, I was probably not good enough to make it. That move was inspired by the Avan Strash (from "Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken"), by the way.

That's pretty much a pilot episode. It'd be a live action "monster of the week" type of show and almost each episode would have a new dimension:

-Stop Motion (Lego, action figure, etc)

-Comic book

-Anime

-Video game

-Board game

-Maybe a book dimension that's read and written as it goes on?

etc.

And sometimes a live action fight scene with VFX and all.

That's it.

The scandal continues. The Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare - THL admits that it knew all along that the corona vaccine does not prevent the spread of the disease.

The speeches of the Pfizer management about the tests aroused criticism, but in fact the information was not new, writes the newspaper IL. If THL knew that the vaccine was unable to prevent the spread of the disease, what do they mean by their video tweeted on October 21, 2021, where they say that by taking the vaccine you protect others?

On November 9, 2020, newspaper IL told Finns that according to an extensive, third-phase vaccine study, Pfizer's experimental corona vaccine prevents the transmission of COVID-19 by more than 90 percent. Does this article cite a study that didn't study the spread of infection - at all? The same study was the shortest in the history of vaccines, phases 2 and 3 were combined, no animal experiments were performed, subjects significantly younger than the risk group were selected for the study, and the blind study was stopped.

On June 8, 2021, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla tweets: "Although data shows that severe COVID-19 is rare in children, large-scale vaccination is a critical tool to stop infection." However, on 10/10/2022, Pfizer's manager Janine Small told the EU Parliament that there was NEVER any valid evidence that mRNA vaccines stop the spread of the virus.

Life into Lives

People say that life is beautiful and living is hard.

As I stared at the stunning moon in the night sky that seem to invoke a sense of curiosity in my young and inquisitive mind, I asked myself if there could be something more in life and living than its linguistic approach. Given that these words are classified differently as parts of speech, how could they be described distinctly when they are words with the same root? I tried to do my own research. I looked through texts and asked questions in hopes that they would make sense—but the books I read were exaggerating things and my parents couldn't give me the answer I need. Perhaps, it's because people understand life differently.

I grew up every day. Waking up in the morning to live with unprecedented turn of events made me realize that living is hard because it's unpredictable. I learned that things can happen in a blink of an eye, the same way how I went home from school one day without idea the world's going to change when the corona virus threatened humanity. Surrounding myself with people taught me how important it is to respect diversity—a person's principles, dreams, religion and race that shape him—it's my obligation to open my doors for them because the world's a big place. I also tried staying away from the crowd and observe how individuals communicate, thus, coming up with the conclusion that there's a force in this world responsible for the interconnectedness of everyone. Later on, I realized that it's life itself.

The fact that living organisms are capable of executing roles and actions in different contexts is the main idea why life is beautiful. Surely, it's hard to live everyday and move in any type of circumstances, but when viewed as a whole, it's actually a breathtaking view—to see how every organism that possess the privilege of being alive find their place in this world and prosper it. In a sense that it can easily be understood, it's like creating a garden in your preference. You can plant the trees you want to emerge from the soil. You can raise the flowers you want to bloom in their season. You have the freedom to make it as colorful, spacious and breathtaking as you want—because you are bestowed with the right to build your own garden. You are given the opportunity to showcase your capabilities in which your identity's determined.

Life is knowing that you're alive, and you're existing because you are going to achieve something great. It may never be the same with other people who have built a garden that occupies half of the world, but in the end, it's whether you are satisfied with what you achieved. You will find yourself thinking whether the space you own is enough for them and if you want other gardeners to have the chance to expand their own garden. Whether you want to show that garden to a few or you want the whole world to witness the price you reap from years of constant and repetitive processes. After all, the soil you have in the place you own may be rich or unhealthy, which results to a greater challenge in blooming your plants. Storms and dry seasons are also hard to survive that's why the foundation you ensure is very crucial. And yes, it's alright to be lacking with the resources you can use to make it stronger because you have neighboring gardeners that will be willing to lend a hand.

That is life—the privilege of being you. Life is becoming the garden you envision yourself to be and cooperate in paving the way towards a world vibrant of blossoms along with other gardeners. It's the chance to express one's creativity and purpose in the world—through collective experiences and systemic interaction with other living things—in which we can draw meaning to provide a contribution in shaping the holistic understanding of the world and our very own existence. Understanding the beauty of life requires you to live with other people and turn life into lives, no matter how arduous it can be.

Shingo Tamagawa

Background;

From childhood Tamagawa has always enjoyed manga and anime. However, it was in high-school that he was truly inspired to pursue a career as an animator after watching Miyazaki’s and Anno’s works as he realized that the quality of animation is dependent on its creator. Having a background in art by pursuing Fine Art in art school, this prompted him to pursue animation to which he dropped out of graduate school and joined the industry. he joined Sunrise studio.

Artistic journey; making of 'Puparia' However, 5 years into his career as an animator he experienced heavy burn out as he mentions “no matter how hard your work, animation is something that is consumable. That's what it is by nature of course.”

The year 2015 is when he officially stopped animation and drawing. As he continued this for about a year and a half, he took up other hobbies such as reading and walking to which ideas started filling his mind and he had the desire to eventually make these come to life as well. The birth of his magnum opus “Puparia” came to life from this period of ‘nothingness’ as he wanted to leave a trace of his mindset from that state of his life by using the animation medium to deliver that.

The motives behind Puparia followed Tamagawa’s feelings that the values of the world had been gradually crumbling before the corona virus and how it created an environment where one couldnt be themself. Keeping in mind Tamagawa did not want to make a patronizing work however he wanted to show a different perspective and an idea of being supported. 

Having made the concept, Tamagawa immediately understood that this project had to be done solo as he knew others would refuse to do it and opted not to bother anyone with it. Puparia was solely made from personal motivations. Since this project was meant to convey Tamagawa’s feelings only, it was always meant to be animated by him only.

this solo project took 3 years to make and although it was difficult, it was an overall surreal experience for Tamagawa who also mentioned how rewarding it felt to actually deliver what the director (himself) envisioned for the first time. his method was idiosyncratic as he had used no storyboard and let the story fold out for itself along with the narration being very abstract.

he had temporarily taken space at Sunrise studio to which the director had allowed him to do his solo project but on the condition that he also helps out with their work as well
