Well that officially ends my #springracingseason. I could get upset about it but what’s the point really? This isn’t about me. And if I’m honest about my training it’s been rather uneven, particularly the last few weeks as work pressure has ratcheted up - it’s been hard to get all the workouts in and even when I have I’ve been compromised. This break may be just what I need to rebuild fitness smartly. I have no races on the horizon for a long time and there’s certainly no point in signing up for a bunch right now. Our short run of April shows all got Corona-canceled. Huge thanks to everyone who put time and effort into setting these up. Today would have been the 2020 start of the Methow Valley Farmer’s Market. I’m really missing it! Selling in person is so much more fun for me than selling online. I love being in town early, sipping hot coffee while I chit chat with the other artists and farmers, as we all set up our tables and tents. It’s cold when we first arrive, then the sun slowly makes its way above the hills and we can start to take off layers as the customers start to stroll by around 9. We quickly shuffle over to the produce and food to see what delicious treats we can score. Sometimes Willy makes a fire, and you can hear the low roar of the flame and crackle of the kettle corn popping. Friends come by to chat, puppies are snuggled, stories shared, smiles had. It’s a subtle feeling of connection, the rumblings of community, the good feeling of selling our work and meeting the person who’s buying it. The satisfied feeling of packing up your table with hard-earned money in your pocket, and a Saturday afternoon left open to enjoy with friends and family. Today would have been the first day of the market, and I’m sitting at home missing my people 💗💗💗. Next week I may try to do an online “virtual farmers market,” so stay tuned! Schools Closing

Hey everyone!! I come bearing sad news, news you all have already heard, but I’m here to talk about it. As you all must know, schools are closed for the rest of the school year. This saddens many students greatly. There are so many opportunities, events, sporting seasons, and many memorable moments that have been stolen from numerous students. As a freshman, I am slightly disappointed that I was unable to finish my first one full year at Marist. I loved going to school, it was a great environment and a fun place to be. I especially miss my friends and teachers. Online classes aren’t nearly the same as face-to-face classes. Before spring break, I had recently made the softball team at Marist. We had about two weeks of practice and uniform fittings before we went on break. I was so excited for the season, since it was my first one here at Marist.

The graduating seniors take the biggest loss from the schools closing. Senior year is the big year, the last one you get out of high school. Around this time of year, many seniors have prom, a very memorable event from your high school experience. Spring sports have been cancelled, denying many athletes their “senior season”. And saddest of all, graduation. Graduation from high school is a big closing chapter in a person’s life. It sends them off to the next path in life, college, jobs, whatever it may be. These poor students won’t walk the halls of their schools, say “hi!” to a friend in the hall, see their favorite teachers one last time.

On March 13th, the Friday before spring break, Marist gave out its official information regarding a two week plan of e-Learning. We were expected to be back by March 31, I believe. After we didn’t go back the 31st, the next expected date was April 20th. I remember hearing this news and feeling devastated. It’s an unfortunate situation we are all in, but if these precautionary measures keep us all safe and healthy the sacrifices are worth it. Again, everyone stay safe, happy, and healthy!

The #fourcourtsfourmiler in Arlington was #coronacancelled this morning. But I went ahead and did the next best thing, a 4-mile #timetrial on the #fairfaxturkeytrot4miler course in my own neighborhood. I jogged down the neighborhood trail to the pool, where the race starts and finishes. After some dynamic stretches, I took off. Not too bad for a solo effort. I would have loved to take my new @hokaoneone #carbonx shoes out for a spin, but I’m still breaking them in and I went with the trusty @altrarunning #escalantes. Since Four Courts finishes at the pub the race is named after the typical post race beverage is served for all participants. I had to wait to mimic that part of the day, because I had to go into work. So now 9 hours later, I’m winding down with my @guinness Stout.
