Today on the every growing list of things I would draw: Terry Jr suspended by an endless web of ropes, which subtly entwine to depict scenes and figures a la medieval stained glass windows that were used to teach stories. And him being limp with his chest pushed up towards a sword made of ropes, the pummel of which is the Die Another Day

what book I would give each current formula one driver to introduce them to the joy of reading
an intellectual exercise no one* asked for
Max Verstappen: Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond - if you are nd and have read this book, you may understand me. otherwise just trust me. the impetus for this post
Checo Perez: The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White - this is an excellent read-aloud book for Sergio Jr.'s age, and there is nothing as wonderful as reading a compelling book to a kid you love, imho
Charles Leclerc: The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman - he is on the record as a Potter enjoyer. also, I think he would enjoy having a little animal friend
Carlos Sainz: Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood - okay yes this is partially a joke about the title, but this is a hilarious and wonderful memoir, about weird families and Catholicism, and I think Carlos would enjoy it.
Lando Norris: Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett - in my mind Lando is a little bit like @bright-and-burning but less cool, so this fits. also, the combination of high number of jokes/page + action/mystery seems like a good fit
Oscar Piastri: Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie - this book has the kind of mystery that really draws you in, plus I think Oscar would dig the questions about AI it digs into. I choose to believe with zero evidence that he would be interested in the funky gender stuff
Fernando Alonso: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell - look me in the eye and tell me this book wasn't written for Fernando Alonso
Lance Stroll: Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - yeah
Lewis Hamilton: Die Trying by Lee Child - Lewis deserves to read mildly trashy thrillers <3 plus there's a Tom Cruise movie
George Russell: Changing My Mind by Zadie Smith - as a proud Brit, George should be reading one of the premiere English authors of the 21st century. her first book of essays is a fun and readable place to start
Yuki Tsunoda: Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel - I don't have a Yuki-lore explanation, I just want to give him one of my favorite books
Daniel Ricciardo: The Gunslinger by Steven King - The Dark Tower series is Lord of the Rings-esque in scope but Western-inflected in aesthetic and written by The Horror Guy, I think DR would enjoy
Alex Albon: The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee - I say this with so much love in my heart, but Alex wants to be seen as smart. this book is brilliantly written pop science
Logan Sargeant: Bloomability by Sharon Creech - yes this is a book for tween girls, but it's about boarding school in Switzerland, and Sharon Creech is a genius. if I could convince him to read it, I think he would love it
Valtteri Bottas: The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien - what are hobbits if not humanoid moomins?
Zhou Guanyu: Piranesi by Susannah Clarke - a fun, exciting, stylishly written book for a stylish guy
Kevin Magnussen: Watership Down by Richard Adams - rabbit warfare <3
Nico Hulkenberg: A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles - Hulk SEEMS like a Dad Who Reads Historical Fiction, even if he isn't yet
Pierre Gasly: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - I almost said A Game of Thrones but I don't think that would be good for him. so, Six of Crows. he likes heists!
Esteban Ocon: City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty - a superhero origin story of sorts for Mr. Spiderman
Bonus: Liam Lawson: Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir - lesbian from New Zealand. let me have this
*ro asked for it, take it up with them @oscarpiastriwdc

okay. let's talk about black terry jr.
-
TL;DR: terry jr is black. that is something that should not be erased. regardless of your access to or willingness to search for the canon material that confirms this, you should not be depicting him as white. whitewashing terry by refusing to think of him as black creates an unsafe space for our black community members, and you should re-examine your personal biases if you choose to insist on continuing to see terry as white.
-
terry jr is black. point-blank. and if terry jr is canonically black, then he should be depicted as such.
i will concede that it is something that you might not spot if you listen through the podcast casually. it's something that i didn't know was actually official in any capacity until recently. and i would like to note that i do not have and have never had access to the dndads patreon. i have not listened to any of the teen talks in full (even the ones released to the public. it's just not my jam.), and any information or spitballing contained within is something that i have either been told second-hand or am completely unaware of. i also didn't look at the official poster (the "everything is alright" poster) that depicted both terry jr and samantha as black.
but the fact of the matter remains that terry jr and samantha are black and have been acknowledged as such within the source material.
once again, i myself didn't seek this information out enough to know it was official canon. so then why have i always depicted them as black anyway?
well when i started engaging with the fandom, i saw what was being presented to me in the fandom was overwhelmingly that terry was indeed black or at least popularly interpreted to be black. and my first and only thought was that that was nice. so i decided to roll with it.
if i really wanted to check if that was canon and it being canon was important to me, i could always have asked around. i could've sought out information from official sources. because if they were black and i just missed it in some way, i would've wanted to check myself. especially because doing so would lead to whitewashing.
but i didn't feel the need to do that because i think that just the added racial diversity was really cool to see on its own.
for argument's sake, there is still the possibility that you'd think it is simply just popular fanon. let's say you chose to not check for yourself whether or not he was canonically black. or let's say that, for whatever reason, you think that what is available isn't enough to sufficiently deem him canonically black. so let's discuss why terry should still be depicted as black even if it was "just" fanon and there were no official artworks to go off of.
i am not of the opinion that fanon in general should be taken as gospel. in fact, there are quite a few things within dndads fanon itself that i personally disagree with and choose not to engage with. the reason why this interpretation in particular is a sore spot is the question of why, after seeing the popular portrayal and recognizing the ability to create racial diversity in a space where a good amount of appearances and identities can be up for interpretation, someone would still choose to depict him as white.
why do you choose to depict him as white? do you have any personal biases that make you think that he would or should be white? do you think that it is unimportant or inconsequential to not depict him as a person of color?
what would be so compelling about making him white that you would choose to go against this interpretation? why is it so important that you continue to see him as white?
who are you ignoring in the process?
i do not think it is deliberately malicious to initially think that terry jr is white. it is the unfortunate truth that white tends to be considered the default. but it begins to rub me the wrong way when anyone chooses to stick with that idea when presented with any evidence or argument to the contrary.
though i will admit that i am not black, i am still a person of color. and i think that creating a fandom space where we can highlight, create, and celebrate racial variety means creating a space where people of color feel safer. and because i would like to uplift the black fandom member who tried to voice their own personal take on this matter, i would like to link back to [this post from vivalapersistence] as the reason why i felt compelled to talk about this in the first place.
i don't want to talk over him, but i want to point out his statement that having this kind of solid representation is important and means something to him as a black person in this community. erasing terry as black means that you would be, intentionally or not, erasing and silencing black voices. it takes away that element of representation within the fandom and does real harm to the black people within when you decide that that representation isn't important. there are real racial connotations to the argument here, and it's frankly a little callous to pretend like there's not.
so maybe let's be nice to the BIPOC in our community spaces, okay?
and i want to make it clear right now. if you want to discuss what i say here, you can discuss this with me.

okay so we’ve seen glenn and ron so far in season two and they’ve been kind of what I expected.
glenn is pretty much the same as he was season one. it makes sense, he’s set in his whole thing, he’s vibing in hell with morgan and is sporting the same chill stoner vibes as before. the notable thing with him was that there wasn’t really animosity between him and nick (which also makes sense given their whole deal in season one). he’s always been far removed and it makes sense that in season two he’s still rockin with it.
ron then was a really touching surprise because he continued to grow as a person (insert beth may snickering here). he connected easily with scary and hit me like a fucking freight train with the line about him being sorry that she didn’t realize that losing terry jr. was her loss too. he’s this strange intermediary between the men in their family because willy took advantage of her needing someone to validate her pain, terry jr. was seen as a cause of it and therefore couldn’t help ease it truly (until things were too late), and then ron is here being his odd little self and extends sympathy to her because he also lost terry jr. and can understand. kudos to beth for ep. 41 because she rode the line between comedy and genuinely heartfelt and deep emotional moments like a champ.
and now here’s where we turn to speculation:
I’ve seen a lot of folks saying they’re worried about henry (and I feel like he’s probably going to warrant that because duh, it all comes back to the oak family when it comes to the doodler). however! my first point here is that we shouldn’t ignore darryl.
I feel like we see the most thought going into the oaks (and again, rightfully so, will and anthony are serving us trauma and drama on a platter) and I think one of the sacrifices with that comes at the extent of the wilson boys. the darryl/grant arc was the first time I really, truly got what dndads was all about. specifically, matt’s incredible line where darryl is replying to the other dads saying that he should showcase vulnerability to grant with darryl snapping and saying that he can’t be fully honest because he’s putting on a brave face because he doesn’t know if they’ll make it out and if he and carol will even stay together if they do. that line then contrasted later when he says that if grant asks him a question he’ll do his best to answer truthfully which allows for the big emotional connection they were lacking.
the wilson father/son relationship hinges on the idea of not being able to love the pain away and we see that extend into the next generation in a deeply tragic way. grant can’t make his mental illness magically disappear by loving his son despite how badly he clearly wants to. he can’t “we’ll talk about it later” his way into a healthy relationship where he’s able to offer his son both stability and truth. he’s fucked up and traumatized and never fully dealt with things and he’s dealing with the ramifications.
so how do we think darryl feels about that? how do we think darryl would feel knowing that he couldn’t love away grant’s mental illness (which isn’t something you can do, but he feels immensely guilty about in season one) and seeing the disastrous effect it had on the relationship between his son and grandson to the point where linc no longer refers to him as a dad? I personally really do think that he’ll act as a balm between the two and finally provide that space for them to become father and son again.
there’s truly so much I could say on the wilson family because I’m fascinated by the transition between the most stereotypically masculine family dynamic to a queered one (in both senses of the world) and how the thru line for the generations is this idea of not being able to 1. disclose the truth out of a sense of protection (see: frank hiding his marital and monetary issues, darryl hiding his martial issues and fear of not surviving faerun, and grant hiding who he is and what he does) and 2. love away the pain/illness.
and now we turn to the oak boys. I’m operating on the assumption that henry will be the last dad that they seek out because 1. glenn and terry jr. are in the same spot which means we get a two for one combo deal in hell 2. lark and sparrow clearly have a bad or at the very least strained relationship with their dad and will be less likely to jump on seeking him out and 3. the oak family started the whole doodler thing in this show so it makes sense that they’ll end it.
and for the sake of transparency: here’s where my bias comes through. henry was my favorite season one dad. normal is my favorite season two kid. will campos if you’re reading this, I want you to know that if I could simultaneously give you an academy award and sue you for emotional damages, I would.
the oaks have the most literal device explaining their generational trauma. hildy was ripped from her world after her companions were brutally killed in front of her, barry is a piece of shit, henry has the weight of both his father and having to be a father despite not having a role model, lark and sparrow are fucked up beyond belief in a manner of ways that starts at fucking their twin’s spouse and ends with starting the literal apocalypse. and then there’s normal. bearing the brunt of it all when he wasn’t even given the support to. he’s been carrying the weight of expectation since birth. his sister is hero, he’s normal and yet he’s anything but. that’s a whole other essay (catch me writing that when it’s not 2am).
back to the twins and henry though. from their view it’s bad right? lark hates his dad and destroyed the world. sparrow was an accomplice. I can’t imagine that things were easy after the doodler was released in the oak-garcia household. ESPECIALLY — and this has had me uncomfortable since we learned it offhand in episode 29 of the season — because henry and mercedes had another kid. first things first (and this might just be a me and my cultural background thing), but a minimum decade age gap between your first and second kids is A Lot. especially given the context here that henry struggles with being a father for the aforementioned reasons and his children literally Ended The World. I dunno about you but I think that I’d avoid having more kids at pretty much all costs at that point. but he and mercedes don’t. and hey maybe birdie/birdy was an accident. but my suspicion here (and I very much might be reading too deep into something mentioned in a literal “see you again” parody) is that birdie was a second chance kid. which would fucking blow if you were the aforementioned dad-stabbing—eldritch-creature-releasing child because it would look like your dad had gone “okay well that didn’t work out I can’t find a way to make these kids work so let’s try another one” which would justify the distance and dislike of henry from both of the boys.
I’m a very big fan of henry. he’s fucked up in the exact way I like my fictional men and also reminds me of guys from the city I grew up in which is both appalling and endearing. however, this is absolutely a move I could see him justifying to himself which morally makes me wanna walk into the sea and from a character/story standpoint makes me wanna jump up and down in glee. I really, truly am hoping that things pan out like that and we see a henry who loves his beautiful boys very deeply, but also gave up on them in exchange for a do-over.
I’m especially excited to see how he interacts with normal because my first instinct based on season one without my fucked up and evil birdie theory is that he’ll love normal and make him feel special and seen while my second post-birdiegate instinct is that he’s just not going to care anymore and therefore do fuck-all for normal. he has the energy of a man who eventually just stops trying because he can’t ever make everything better. will campos, if you deliver on that, I’ll figure out how to sneak the oak family into an academic paper.
finally (for now), I’m predicting that the familial reunions will reflect the how the anchors broke. glenn, ron, and darryl will be love while henry will be hate. I think there’s a lot of possibility there that I can break down when it’s not almost 3am. thanks for reading! lmk what you think, I really want to discuss this with folks and get your takes!!

More thoughts under cut.
I know I'm reading too much into this but just the idea that Ron had written all of the letters to Terry jr after his presumed death, and now, during to the large time delay between Heaven and Earth, they have only been delivered after Terry jr's death...
It was poetic that Scary ended up being the one reading it, as if the letters ended up going to his next of kin. As if these letters also represent all of the "I love you"s that Terry Jr can't give to Scary.
I think them being vocal about how much they cared about their step-kid was the generational theme that Ron had started, and that Terry wanted to carry on with Scary, but obviously, couldn't. But the issue was that Ron Stampler had too much time, and Terry Jr. Didn't have enough.
Terry Jr. Is the missing link for this generational theme to continue. I think I remember seeing a couple of posts a while back about how Ron could be the key for Scary to come to terms with herself, and with how last episode ended, I can very much see that coming to fruition. They won't be able to replace Terry, obviously. However, throughout season 2, Terry has been pretty obvious about how he sees his younger self in Scary, and he also seems to take after Ron in his step-parenting. So I wonder if Ron and Scary will notice those similarities in each other if they end up meeting.
Although, if I'm being honest, I hope the parallel that we were supposed to be hinted at from this episode was that the Stampler's have a habit of dying/disappearing and then coming back in unexpected ways (I am delusional).

Survey Results Finally!!!
Ok! So before the whole breakdown I wanna address a couple biases and shit. So I posted this on tumblr and on a couple dndads discord servers I'm in, notably the patreon server, both of these almost definitely caused some bias in stats particularly in patreon subscription and most used social media to engage with. That said it could have been posted elsewhere (which I’m totally fine with and actively encourage the bigger and more diverse the sample is the better) but I only posted there because I wanted to minimize potential non-fans taking it and I don’t have a twitter. I also added the question of whether you have relistened and your race, ethnicity, and nationality later (as it was suggested and i thought it was a good addition) so the sample is not the full amount of people who took this survey and is smaller than other question therefore less conclusive of the dndads fanbase as a whole.
I got a total of 142 responses (and the survey is still open) so let break down all that
There were 65 questions in total, while I’m not going to break down every single one I will break down most of them
Tumblr media
Majority listen on spotify with patreon coming in a close second, the small individual answers are a mix of a combination of two or more platforms or platforms i forgot to add/didn’t know existed
Tumblr media
A little over half of the fandom is apart of the patreon but still remember that there is a bias in this question because of where i sent the survey
Tumblr media
Majority of the patreon is subscribed to the EX-L level (like me!!) with EX in a pretty close second (other is apart of EX because i forgot what is was call when I first made it)
Tumblr media
Ron comes in a very close 1st between him and henry for favorite season 1 dad
Tumblr media
Grant takes 1st in another pretty close one between him and terry for season 1 son and surprisingly Nick Foster actually got votes! (/j)
Tumblr media
Scam likely with quite the lead as a fan favorite NPC
Now favorite episode was one I had to track separately because I set it as a free response but her are the top 4 favorites:
In 4th with 13 votes Episode 42 Henry’s Father and the Chamber of Secrets In 3rd with 16 votes Episode 56 S.W.A.P. (SWitched Ass Papas) In 2nd with 17 votes Episode 44 Deck Picks In 1st with 23 votes Episode 61 Death of a Salesman
Tumblr media
Normal with fan favorite season 2 PC with almost half of the fandom
Tumblr media
Terry Jr (surprising to me I love him but ig it's the silent majority cause i never see much about him) is first place
Tumblr media
Very unsurprisingly hermie the unworthy for 1st place, bitches love this gay theatre kid but it is a little surprising the amount of a lead he has
Another one I had to by hand but the top 4 favorite season 2 episodes are
In 4th place with 5 votes, a 4 way tie between: Episode 22 Army of Tree, Episode 4 Barf Bum Movie Men, Episode 12 Scary Movie 2, and Episode 9 Debate Me Cowards
In 3rd place with 6 votes, Episode 5 Dance Dance Revelations (surprising to me as it’s not the part of the dance with Lark and Sparrow and Normal’s crisis)
In 2nd place with 8 votes, Episode 11 That thing? You Dude
Unsurprisingly in 1st place, the episode that I’ve heard some people say is one of the best episodes of Dungeons and Daddies, with 50 votes, Episode 23 Alright
Tumblr media
Ron takes overall favorite
Tumblr media
Hermie surpasses (one of) his father for favorite NPC
Tumblr media
Jodie wins as the guest PC, which kinda surprises me
Tumblr media
Oakworthy wins as the most popular ship, most of the thin slices are variations of “I don’t ship” and some less talked about ships
Tumblr media
The majority of fans don't have a preference between season 1 or 2
Tumblr media
At the Mountains of Dadness is the most popular piece of bonus content
Tumblr media
The majority of the fandom have relistened to the podcast
The subject of Jodie, almost everyone liked how Jimmy played him but the views on his character are a little different. Many poll takers said he grew on them and the majority of the fandom seems to feel neutral to positive to him. A lot of people said he was a good narrative foil to Glenn (I agree!!) and that he’s “funny as fuck” (i also agree) however some people also voiced dislike him do to messing up the timeline, being a cop, messing up Nick’s character, and just the plotline he was apart of. Lots of ACAB in the responses.
Lots of funny responses on this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Asexual bitches and queer bitches love dungeons and daddies (I'm an asexual bitch myself) there was a whole one (1) fully cis het allo survey taker.
Tumblr media
The fanbase skews pretty heavily to the younger side with the majority of the fandom being 18-25 and a huge majority if you just look at it as 25 and under.
Tumblr media
Non-binary bitches love dungeons and daddies (I’m a non-binary bitch as well)
Tumblr media
Huge majority of fans are neurodivergent with most thin results being a variation of “I don’t know, somethings probably wrong up there”
Tumblr media
Anxious bitches love dungeons and daddies (i am an anxious bitch)
Tumblr media
Majority of people who responded are white, however this question was implemented later and only has 62 responses.
Most fans got into dungeons and daddies from word of mouth, typically from friends or mutuals online
Relationships with fathers are mixed. A decent amount say good, some say bad, but a lot can be put as complicated. A good amount of people used parallels from dungeons and daddies most often grant and darryl.
Tumblr media
Your dads cool as fuck
Relationships with moms are also mixed, but a little more drastic(?). The positives are generally stronger but the negatives are also more negative.
Most sibling relationships are good! However there were a decent amount of responses stating the relationship was distant
Majority of fans are from america but there's a good variety from all over.
Tumblr media
Majority of the fandom interacts through tumblr (this still is one with bias)
Majority of fans say their experience with the fandom has been very good
Tumblr media
Majority of fans make some for of fan content

Morty is a really tragic character
I'm rewatching the series for like the 10th time, and I'm feeling really bad for Morty, the poor boy went through so much, here's what he goes through in season 1 alone.
Episode 1 ~ Pilot
Suffers from extreme panic from Rick saying he will blow up the world, and is tired due to it also being late at night
Is manhandled by Rick for this entire episode, and Rick is very harsh toward him
Is dragged out of school by Rick
Breaks both of his legs
Stuffs Mega-seeds up his rectum and it is apparently painful due to them being pointy
Is immobilized for hours due to them dissolving in his rectum
Episode 2 ~ Lawnmower Dog
Was about to get punished for something Rick did
Rick snaps at him all because Morty suggested Rick helps him with his homework
Is terrified due to having to avoid getting shot so he doesn't die in real life
Is slapped by Rick while screaming
Is traumatized due to seeing his sister in a...suggestive way
Is terrified due to Scary Terry
Rick embarrasses him in front of girls (Those girls weren't real but still)
His kidneys shut down
His dog leaves
Rick insults him "What do you know Morty? What do you know?"
Episode 3 ~ Anatomy Park
Gets hastily told by Rick to hold his breath until a certain process is over or his lungs will collapse
Is nearly choked by Poncho for no real reason
Is nearly attacked by monsters (multiple times throughout the episode)
Sees mutiple people die (Throughout episode)
Alice taken away from him for Rick's own selfish reasons, Rick doesn't apologize and brushes it off saying he did Morty a favor
Episode 4 ~ M-Night Sha-aliens!
He isn't exactly in this episode, but in an aftercredits scene, Rick holds a knife to Morty's neck while angerily asking him "ARE YOU A SIMULATION!?"
Episode 5 ~ Meeseeks and Destroy
Got traumatized from having to kill people who looked exactly like his family
Rick is very harsh towards him for the majority of the episode
Got assaulted by Mr. Jellybean, narrowly escaped him
Panicked when he saw Mr. Jellybean again
Episode 6 ~ Rick Potion #9
Multiple people fell in love with him and charged at him
Rick is very harsh towards him throughout this episode
A bunch of praying mantis/ vole/ human hybrids talked about how they would like to have sex with him then eat him afterwards
Got traumatized from being forced to bury himself
Episode 7 ~ Raising Gazapazorp
Tried his best to raise a very aggressive, violent son named Morty Jr. then Morty Jr. made a book talking about what a terrible father he was
Episode 8 ~ Rixty Minutes
Actually, not a lot of bad stuff happens to him in this episode, but we see the impact of him burying himself
Episode 9 ~ Something Ricked this Way Comes
Jerry snapped at him 2 times in this episode for no real reason
Jerry embarrassed him in front of a lot of Plutonions
Episode 10 ~ Close Rick Counters with Rick Kind
Got dragged away from his family just because our Rick's Morty (Ik he's technically Rick Prime's Morty but eh)
Got angry at Rick when he found out he was just a human cloaking device
Saw himself in agony
Cried when Rick said "You are a perfect impenetrable suit of human amor Morty because you're as dumb as I am smart. So that's why when I say shut up, it's really good advice."
Got locked in with a bunch of other Mortys
Rick insulted him after Morty saved his life "Ok Morty, don't break an arm jerking yourself off."
Episode 11 ~ Ricksy Business
Tried to convince Rick not to have a party since he'd prefer to keep going on adventures with Rick, but Rick just brushed him off
Worked tirelessly to attempt to keep the house in good shape
Rick dumped people who were annoying him onto Morty
Saw Squancy uh...pleasuring himself in the closet
Saw Abrodolf Lincoler die
Rick got a bunch of people to boo him.
This all happened in season one. This poor dude got constantly insulted and had horrible things happen to him. It's easy to forget that he's only 14 due to all of the stuff that happened to him. A lot of this stuff could be difficult for an adult to handle, I can't image how much mental damage it must do to someone who is only 14. Poor Morty is traumatized, the poor kid deserves all the hugs and kindness in the world and a good family, man.

college sparrow drunkenly telling terry jr. to stop calling him cute pet names because he is having UNTOWARD THOUGHTS. completely bypasses confessing and moves straight to apologizing for Making It Weird.
(they'll talk about it in the morning, for now terry is just incredibly amused)
back on my "making niche and self-indulgent slice of life AUs" grindset ft. this sparrow x terry jr. dynamic that i could not get out of my head <3 something something the two of them end up talking to each other on the phone a LOT as they're navigating college life and they become closer in the process and. Homosexuality.
also grant and lark are also a thing in this AU because that's important to me <3 and terry jr. and grant are exes bc that's just canon to me. they dated in in high school. that happened.

okay PREDICTION TIME here is what i think is going to happen in the next ep (s2 e49).
first off i think (and hope) we're going to get a party split episode, and i could not be more thrilled. Link/Normal and Scary/Taylor is the one split that we haven't seen much of, and i think its going to be incredible. i think that Sparrow is alive but has been kidnapped by Willie and is either in Heaven with him or being kept somewhere else; either that, or he's just straight-up dead. either way, Lark is going to LOSE HIS SHIT. because we're in endgame territory, i think he and Scary and Taylor are going to get into Hell somehow to call in the cavalry (Nicky, Terry Jr, Glenn, Morgan, Jodie, etc), and then will have to fight the FBI Hell occupation to get out of there. I ALSO THINK WE ARE GOING TO GET A JIMMY WONG RETURN AND I CANNOT WAIT.
on the other side of things, i think Link and Normal are going to do some dumbass shenanigans to try and get into Heaven, and the Heaven Heist references will be innumerable. i think there's a good chance that they will actually try to do the Heaven-Heist-Flatliners thing, which by definition is only possible for short moments at a time, and hilarity will ensue. bonus points if this is yet another piss episode. unsure whether or not they will actually get into Heaven this ep, but when they do, i think it's a stealth mission, and they immediately head to find Darryl and Ron to get help. inside Heaven, i think that either a. Willie is being a fascist dictator and Darryl/Ron are part of the resistance, or b. there is very little change to be seen on the surface.
FINALLY (bear with me) i think that a certain someone with demonic blood who died recently may show up at some point in the Hell bit. i Do think that David Lovesatan got ousted as soon as Hermie showed up and we will get the double whammy of both Herm Return AND Heel Turn Hermie, which i look forward to IMMENSELY. anyway, stay tuned to watch me be wrong about literally all of this <3

I think by this point, the possibility for reconciliation between Normal and Sparrow ultimately rests in whether or not Norm is willing to give his dad a second chance (and talk things out with him! But like not in a calzone this time lol), and judging by their very brief interaction near the end of last week’s episode, it seems that Norm’s feelings of rejection after the dance (as well as all the resentment and doubt that have since festered within him as a result) are continuing to make that a difficult point for him to reach.
This to say, I think he may need someone to nudge him in the other direction… And I’m hoping for it to be Scary actually! This for a number of reasons, namely since Scary of course feels a tremendous amount of regret over refusing to let Terry Jr. into her life, and I think it would be interesting if this informed her not wanting to see a similar sort of deal play out with Norm. This in addition to Scary having her own cordial and perhaps emotionally-enlightening interactions with Sparrow in the most recent episode, despite she herself having had conflict with him in the past. I do also think there would be something rather cathartic about seeing Scary help the boys through their own shit after having acted as an antagonist towards them for several episodes (I’ve some thoughts on potential developments in Scary and Taylor’s relationship actually, but I’ll save that for another post! As for Lincoln, while I frankly think that he is the person Scary “owes” more than anyone, I’m not really sure what I want for them atm tbh! Definitely not what I’m suggesting for her and Norm here though, as there are some very important differences between Normal and Sparrow’s relationship versus Lincoln and Grant’s… Anyhoo!) And finally, well, I also just think that Scary helping Normal work things out with his dad could be a nice way to rekindle the friendship that she and him had early on in the season but lost somewhere along the way!

As much as I really dislike Willy. It makes sense if he would be a veteran. Especially with the way he acted and everything. Especially about masculinity and everything. It also makes sense if he was also a victim of abuse too. Because people don't just. Randomly do that. Abuse doesn't just come out of nowhere.
That's literally what the story is about. That's literally why we've gotten such a human side of everything with all of these characters. They are human. They are victims. Intergenerational trauma is a very real thing. Evil doesn't come from nothing. That's WHY the Doodler is sympathetic. Because it's a story about how those evils come to be. That so much of hate comes for ignorance and misunderstandings.
This is why Anthony always tells us that everything Willy is doing comes from fear. When we look into the motivations, it's always some he's terrified of. Because that is the source of hate. This is why Daddy/creator magic is fear and love and not hate and love. Because Willy, The Doodler and everything other villain aren't just doing this out of hate. But fear. Whatever that fear is. It's scares the shit out of them. And it's very real to them.
I think what is happening to the forgotten realms is a really good example of this. Obviously when dood was still above the world it was heavily influencing everyone, but I don't think that was everything. The people are doing everything down there not just from the corruption, but out of fear and survival. They are doing all these terrible things because they need to live and they are scared. And it makes them fearful of others. It makes them invested with hate.
But all of this is human. Even if people are aware of their terrible actions and continue to do terrible things. I think it's important in this story to understand that every villain has been incredibly human. Because even humans can be terrible and evil. Ordinary evils happen more than we might understand.
I think it's why it's important that we knew the S1 Dads. We know them. We understand what they have been through. We understand what has been unleashed because of them. We understand the mistakes they left for their kids to clean up, and then now their grandkids are cleaning up.
We know them because it makes us understand the kiddads. We can look at them through a sympathetic lens. All of them. And understand why didn't just randomly turn out this way.
You traumaize your kids whether you want to or not. I think even in the best relationships in the world. That there are ways you traumatized your children. No matter how gentle it way or how many books you read or if you went to therapy. You will fuck up. That is just the reality of life. But it's not something that means that it's a failure.
We know the kiddads are traumatized. We know that their parents tried their best. We know that the kiddads after everything they went through tired wjat they could and Still fucked up. But these relationships aren't damaged forever. We know this. We know that Grant loves his dad despite awaking something in him and probably scarring him forever. We know that Ron probably fucked up thousands of times, but Terry Jr loves him so much. We have an example of a parent that fucked up more with Glenn, but we know that he cares deeply about Nicky despite what happened. We know Nicky loves his dad even if it will never be the same. Even with Jodie we know that there has been mistakes, but he's tried a lot with son. We know that sometimes it's as good as it gets. With Henry we don't know everything that happened. We don't know why the twins stopped talking to him. But everything we saw and some of the flashbacks we knew that he'd do anything for his boys and the twins love their dad, and their is no denying that.
These relationships are complex. Probably the most complex and sibling relationships following. These traumas don't just happen. These are things that build up over time. We see that with the doodler. This story is about intergenerational trauma. The doodler is literally a representation of all the emotions that come with childhood and adulthood of being a parent and being someone's kid. That's what the story is about. That's why we literally have this story in the point of view of the dads and the teens. Because that's what it's all about. How family can be our own villains, but also our heros. They every part of the story. The middle, the end and the beginning.
