Penelope, Simon, and Basilton, despite all odds and warnings from their parents became friends. The trio was practically inseparable. They shared almost everything with each other and they trusted each other to no end.

Something had been praying on Simon’s mind for a while, but he didn’t know what to do about it. He’d thought about asking Penny (she usually had all the answers) but he didn’t know how to bring it up, or what to say.

He was tossing and turning in his bed ‘til finally Baz had had enough and just wanted some peace.

“What’s got you so riled up, Snow?” He asked half mockingly, half concerned.

“Baz, is it possible to have a crush on a guy?” Simon as always, was blunt.

“Yes?” Baz replied puzzled. Simon already knew he was gay, he’d told the group a while ago.

“I mean for you yeah, but what about me?”

“Why couldn’t you?”

“I don’t know. What would liking a boy feel like?”

“I can’t really explain it.” Baz said though it was lie. He knew all to well how to explain the golden feeling he got from a golden boy.

“I mean, you’ve had a crush on a guy, right?” Simon remembered him mentioning it once though he refused to say who.

“…yes…” he hesitated. Did Simon figure it out?

“Ok, well is… what is it like? Is it different than having a crush on a girl?”

“I wouldn’t know, Snow.”

“Why not?” He asked obliviously.

“’Cause I’ve never liked a girl.” Sometimes Simon is so thick.

“Oh… right… duh I’m so dumb of course I- someone can’t like a girl and then a boy. Sorry.” Simon quickly turned away, worried he was bothering Baz with stupid questions.

“Of course you can Snow.”

“What?” He faced Baz again.

“There are people who like boys and girls, and some people like everyone in between.”

“Really, that’s so cool! I mean… I, di-I didn’t know that.” It seemed crazy, only because he’d never heard of it before, but it was a relief to know that was a possibility.

“Snow, why are you asking all these questions?”

“N-no reason.”

Baz sat up a little, “We’re friends okay, you can tell me the truth.” Silence. Simon was so silent Baz thought he was holding his breath. “Do you have a crush on a guy?”

“Well, I don’t know. I mean I thought I liked Agatha and she is really really pretty but like then there’s… someone and they’re a guy and I think I like him but how am I supposed to know and I don’t think I’m gay, and, what if he hates me for it and what if I’m faking it and don’t really like him or or never liked Agatha I…” He sighed, “yeah, yes I think, I think I do have a crush on a guy.”

“Can you tell me who it is?” Baz asked with a little too much hope in his voice.

“Maybe…” Great, Simon thought, you’ve really done it this time.

“Maybe…?” Baz felt like pleading with Simon.

“Okay,” Simon sat up in bed facing Baz, he was going to do this, he could do this, “but you have to promise not to hate me forever or stop being my friend or, or any other horrible thing that you could do. Alright?”

“Simon, I won’t do any ‘horrible thing’ to you for liking someone.”

“Promise?” He was just stalling now.

“I promise.”

“I, I think,” Simon slowly got up and sat on Baz’s bed, “Remember you promised,”

Baz nodded, his heart fluttering. Simon made a big showy swallow, his heart pounding.

“Baz I think I have a crush on you.” He said slow and unsure. Baz sat up as Simon made a point of not looking up from his lap.

“Simon.”

“Hm?” He looked up slightly.

“I have a crush on you too.”

Both of then had smiles too big to fit their faces. Then Simon attacked Baz with a hug and knocked him over. They lay there for a bit taking it all in; reveling in the feeling of each others arms; breathing in their scents.

Simon pulled back a little, “Will you be my boyfriend?”

“Definitely.” Baz eagerly answered.

“Great!” Simon pecked Baz on the cheek then retreated to his own bed. Hours later they both fell asleep with huge grins, red cheeks, and happy hearts.
