Was tempted to make up a whole crop of next-gen OCs for my own personal Ranger's Apprentice timeline, just so Will and Alyss can have like four kids who keep choosing to be something OTHER than Rangers. I succumbed to the temptation.
Their oldest is named Daniel (obviously) and grew up learning Ranger skills as part of life. No one pushed that career path on him or anything, but there was still a lot of shock and mental readjustment when he turned fourteen and declared he was going to be a knight.
Will and Halt are both disappointed but working very hard to make sure Daniel knows they're not disappointed IN HIM. (They just wanted to get to share their work with him.) Halt is also recalibrating how much he's allowed to insult knights now. Gilan, having done the exact same thing in the other direction, is the voice of unconditional support. Horace is INCREDIBLY smug (and also begging to take his nephew as his own apprentice).
Their second son is named Robin and no one is surprised when he wants to be a Courier, because that's still a family business and it's been clear for years that he's more interested in his mom's work than his dad's. Will's just like "yeah that's fair" and makes sure to give Robin knife lessons on the side, in case of dangerous assignments.
Their third child is named Caitie and after some agonizing she confesses to her mom that she doesn't want to apprentice in anything in particular, she mostly just wants to pick something she won't have to leave home for. Alyss and Will get this and Caitie ends up with a variety of odd jobs at Castle Redmont that will help her learn household management and stewardship. Everyone there loves her, anyway, so they're willing to bend structures for her.
Their fourth child I am tentatively naming Alan, and he's frankly very confused that none of his older siblings chose to be Rangers. He has to check if there's a rule against it, or something, before tentatively bringing up the possibility of his own apprenticeship to his dad. Will—who had by now accepted that none of his children were going to be Rangers—is DELIGHTED by this twist. Alan isn't the favorite child, because there isn't a favorite child, but there are definitely some jokes made to that effect. He himself is very excited about having this extra bond with his dad (does he take after Will in his attachments? maybe) so he doesn't mind being called his mini-me at ALL.
There is a fifth child, and her name is probably Tiffany, and she is BOUND and DETERMINED to be a professional jongleur. Will is delighted to have such a musical child, but also concerned? about the nomadic lifestyle this would entail?? Rangers and Knights and Couriers travel but they always have infrastructure. Neither Will nor Alyss likes the idea of their baby growing up to travel alone, even with all the weapon skills Will can give her. It's an ongoing conflict.
Anyway there's like a six-year period where people keep going "wait, your kids aren't Rangers? NONE of your kids are following in your footsteps? But they're Will Treaty's children! That's so weird!" and Will has to keep shutting that conversation down because it's RUDE to his kids.

Local courier either a genius or the dumbest man alive, report finds.
“He killed Ceasar with a rocket launcher then convinced the guy who shot him in the head to not kill him.” The former NCR sniper travelling with the man stated. “I accidentally called him my dad once.”
When asked for a comment, the courier only responded with a bewildered “Who are you?” and went back to petting his cyberdog.

On 21st July 1796 Robert Burns died in Dumfries.
Rather than write up an account from several sources and my own knowledge as I normally do I will leave it to the poet and neighbour of the Ploughman Poet, Alan Cunninham, to describe the fateful day……
“It was soon spread through Dumfries that Burns had returned from the *Brow much worse than when he went away, and it was added that he was dying. The anxiety of the people, high and low, was very great. I was present and saw it. Wherever two or three were together their talk was of Burns, and of him alone. They spoke of his history, of his person, and of his works - of his witty sayings and sarcastic replies, and of his too early fate with much enthusiasm, and sometimes with deep feeling. All that he had done, and all that he had hoped he would accomplish, were talked of: half-a-dozen of them stopped Dr. Maxwell in the street, and said, "How is Burns sir?” He shook his head, saying, “he cannot be worse, ” and passed on to be subjected to similar inquiries farther up the way. I heard one of a group inquire, with much simplicity, “Who do you think will be our poet now?”
Though Burns now knew he was dying, his good humour was unruffled, and his wit never forsook him. When he looked up and saw Dr. Maxwell at his bed-side, - “Alas!” he said, “what has brought you here? I am but a poor crow and not worth plucking.” He pointed to his pistols, those already mentioned the gift of their maker, Blair of Birmingham, and desired that Maxwell would accept of them, saying they could not be in worthier keeping, and he should have no more need of them. This relieved his proud heart from a sense of obligation. Soon afterwards he saw Gibson, one of his brother-volunteers by the bed-side with tears in his eyes. He smiled and said, - “John, don’t let the awkward squad fire over me!”
His household presented a melancholy spectacle: the Poet dying; his wife in hourly expectation of being confined: four helpless children wandering from room to room, gazing on their miserable parents and but too little of food or cordial kind to pacify the whole or soothe the sick. To Jessie Lewars, all who are charmed with the poet’s works are much indebted: she acted with the prudence of a sister and the tenderness of a daughter, and kept desolation away, though she could not keep disease. - “A tremor,” says Maxwell, “pervaded his frame; his tongue, though often refreshed, became parched; and his mind, when not roused by conversation, sunk into delirium. On the second and third day after his return from the Brow, the fever increased and his strength diminished. On the fourth day, when his attendant, James Maclure held a cordial to his lips, he swallowed it eagerly - rose almost wholly up - spread out his hands - sprang forward nigh the whole length of the bed - fell on his face and expired. He was thirty seven years and seven months old, and of a form and strength which promised long life; but the great and inspired are often cut down in youth while "Villains ripen gray with time”.
I can’t really add to what Cunningham has written, what I will add is the remarkable story about the  night almost 40 years after his death the poet’s skull was taken on  a wee walk  by a group of Dumfries locals with a strange interest.
The men, led by newspaper editor John McDiarmid, were keen advocates of phrenology - a now discredited pseudo-science that believed you could read deep truths about someone's personality from plotting the bumps on their head.
McDiarmid and others were keen to study the skull of the ploughman poet - a man who was thought of as a natural genius and whose personality was well-known throughout the world.
The phrenologists were interested in Burns because he was such an important character in the public imagination and therefore they wanted to see if the bumps on his skull would match up to his public persona.
However, the Bard's widow Jean Armour was not thought to be keen to allow the phrenologists to disturb her husband's resting place because his remains had already been moved once before.
When Burns died in Dumfries  he was not buried in the imposing mausoleum that currently stands in the town's St Michael's kirkyard. The bright, white, rock star tomb, with its pillars and domes and its marble figure of Burns at the plough, was erected 19 years after his death, following a long fundraising effort. His widow was disgusted by the gruesome exhumation of the poet's body, and the remains of two of his sons, to the relocate them to the new monument.
Dumfries Courier editor McDiarmid wrote an account of removing Burns from his original resting place.
He told how when the workmen tried to lift the original wooden coffin "the head separated from the trunk, and the whole body, with the exception of the bones, crumbled into dust".
The newspaper editor may have been accurately describing the scene but he was not there at the time, he arrived in town two years after the event and must have cursed his luck at missing out on getting his hands on Burns' skull for a phrenological study.
It was not until Jean Armour died in 1834 that another opportunity arose to get a plaster of Paris cast of the skull. McDiarmid realised the crypt of the mausoleum was going to be opened and he appears to have obtained permission from Jean's brother to take a cast of the skull.  The group carrying out the plan comprised of six men plus their assistants, and by the end of the night the Provost, the Dean of Guild and rector of Dumfries academy as well.
They don't want to be seen and they didn't want a mob to assemble and say 'here they are violating the poet's grave, we are going to stop them. They make their first attempt at 7pm but there are too many people about. At 10pm in come our boys again over the walls, sneak up to the mausoleum with the keys, they go down into the vault with a ladder and a muffled lantern so people didn't see the light.
According to Burns' experts who reconstructed the process, McDiarmid had thought he would be able to take a plaster cast of the skull in the vault but he realised he couldn't. So he popped it into a linen bag and walked it up the high street to Queensberry Street where the plasterer James Fraser worked. They made a mould and from that they took a cast of the skull.
There are several persons involved, one of which is the surgeon Archibald Blacklock and according to the published accounts he, very scientifically, handles this skull.
He also apparently tried his hat on it out of awe, because the skull is so large he wants to know if his hat can fit on it or not. The workmen around him then all apparently try their hats on the skull as well. The freshly-cast skull was rushed to Edinburgh, to George Combe, the master of phrenology, who prepared a report on Burns' personality.
Phrenologists believed the brain was made up of 27 individual "organs" that determined personality and these could be measured by studying the shape of the skull. Combe's report rated Burns for a number of character traits based on the size of the "organs".
One of Burns' organs that was very large was his organ of “philoprogenitiveness,”  his ability to produce and care for children!   Along with a high score for benevolence, the phrenologists said this explained his love for weak and helpless creatures displayed in poems such as To a Mouse and On Seeing a Wounded Hare.   A lot of it was just talking about the poetry and the life and trying to make sense of this scientific analysis in relation to Burns' well-known public character and his written work.
This was a "risky" strategy,  because Burns was so well-known that if their findings had been at odds with his public persona it would have made phrenology look like a fraud. So they worked very hard to make sense of these materials.  Instead of the scientific philosophy of trying to prove your hypothesis wrong, the phrenologists wanted to confirm their prior beliefs.
The anatomical museum of the University of Edinburgh has a cast of Burns' skull which is likely to be one of the original copies made that night in 1834, there is also a copy in The Burns Museum at Alloway.
Pics include a drawing of the poets “death room” and the skull in the museum.

Jensen was sitting slouched on the leather couch staring at the paperwork that had been dropped off by courier this morning, official notification of the dissolution of his marriage to Danneel when Jared entered his trailer. “It’s not gonna say anything different no matter how many times you look at it.”
“I know,” Jensen sighed heavily, “never thought I’d be in this position.”  He tossed the papers on the table and picked up his beer draining it in one go.
“You better not drink anymore, we’ve still got two more scenes to get through before we can leave tonight.”
Jensen rolled his head towards Jared leaning across the kitchenettes bar counter with a very concerned expression.
Jensen had always been a social drinker, he did love his beer, the slight softness over his toned stomach was the biggest indicator. But there had been constant uptick in his drinking during the mandatory two year waiting period for an Alpha/Beta divorce. So far, it hadn’t seriously interfered with work but there had been several instances of his obvious imbidding that Jared,  Alex, even Misha ended up pumping him full of coffee to get him through.
“Then let’s get them done so I can get really fucked up before that shit show happens tomorrow.”
“Jack, give this new marriage a chance. Your dad said she’s a good match right? You never know, maybe it’ll work out like Gen and me.” Jared’s marriage had been a private match and he was happy with the Omega that his family had chosen.
Jensen snorted, getting up and walking out of his trailer, “Yeah, you lucked out with her, not always the case. Look at me, I’m getting a second hand Omega.”
*** To say the atmosphere in the private arrivals area was strained was an understatement. The Ackles were seating several feet apart awaiting their son.
“Mommy…daddy, how’s it..go..going?” They both turned in unison to see their very drunk middle child staggering towards them followed closely by Jared and Clif.
“Jensen Ross Ackles, how could you show up in this condition!” Donna Ackles snapped as he gave her a cheeky smile before passing out. “Fuck!” Jared blurted out, catching him before he face planted onto the tiled floor.
“Jared Tristan Padalecki you’re to blame for this!”
“I’m the one who’s been there for him, not the one forcing him to do something he’s not ready for! This is on you, I’ve tried to get him to stop but he’s hurting like hell and you don’t care!”
“You can’t speak to me that way young man! I always knew you came from trash and this proves it.”
Jared let his inner Alpha surface, eyes glowing red in anger, “If you ever speak disparagingly about my family again…” Clif quickly stepped in between them giving Jared a look.
“I’ve had it with you inserting yourself in our family business! I’ll make sure you never have contact with Jensen outside of work ever again!”
“You go ahead and try, Jensen’s forty two years old and more than capable of making his own choices. The only reason he’s agreed to this is because you’ve duped him into believing this is the only way to uphold your family’s social standing in the Dallas Pack because all you care about is how you look to those fucking country club bitches!”
“Alan, could you please bring the car around so we can get away from this embarrassing situation.” The older Alpha gripped his mates arm giving her a firm look of disapproval and steered her towards the exit. They could still hear her grousing, “how dare he deliver Jensen in this state,” as they went out the door.
Jared hefted his friend over his broad shoulder and carried Jensen back out the private entrance as the SUV pulled up. Clif opened the back door and helped Jared place him in the vehicle, carefully laying him across the seat.
“How bad has it been for him?” Alan inquired after Clif shut the door so his mate couldn’t hear.
Jared pulled off his beanie, running both hands through his hair, not hiding his frustration before answering, “He’s been in a downward spiral, drinking continuously, got him to stick to beer. I found him looking at the divorce papers and as you see… ”
Alan sighed heavily. Jensen’s divorce came out of nowhere, everything on the surface appeared good between him and Danneel but in hindsight he realized there were telltale signs all along, the biggest was her reluctance to have children.
Anytime anyone inquired she waved it off, saying she wanted to wait till Supernatural had ended, it wouldn’t be fair to leave all the responsibility for rearing their pups predominantly on her, she wanted Jensen there, to be a hands-on father.
Alphas were involved to an extent in care and raising of pups, but it was unusual for one to be as hands on as the Betas or Omegas were.
Jensen was one of those exceptions. Whenever with his siblings, he was right in there helping, never turning down a chance to play with them, even princess tea parties with his only niece. When on vacation or at conventions with Jared and his mate, he always was willing to help with their pups.
“I want to formally apologize for what Donna said, she overstepped the lines of etiquette. This is no excuse but she doesn’t know how to handle this situation. Jensen’s always been her favorite and she personally picked Danneel as his mate, it’s been a slap to her ego.”
Jared smiled, “I accept your apology Alan. Jensen’s always said his mother has been a…handful.”
Alan laughed, “That’s the diplomatic way of putting it,” he signed again, “Donna’s family always spoiled her being the only Omega, somewhere along the way she’s forgetting that being part of Dallas society doesn’t give you the right to treat others badly.”
*** Late next morning
Jensen was sitting on the edge of his hotel bed contemplating how he got here.
He thought Danneel was the one. When they were introduced by his mother a few months before his twenty seventh birthday they instantly clicked and started dating that night.
Jensen proposed six months later, couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have found a love match. Danneel stated she wasn’t ready to give up her career yet, so they compromised and decided on a long engagement.
Supernatural started filming its fourth season when Kripke announced that the series would end with season five. Danneel also found out her current role was being written out of the series she was in about the same time so they set the date for May 2010.
Jared’s surprise wedding in February that year reaffirmed Jensen’s desire to settle down and start his family in a few months. They bought a home outside Austin like Jared and his new mate Genevieve. Things were going as planned, then the unexpected happened.
A couple months before they finished filming the CW announced Supernatural was being picked up for season six under new leadership.
Jensen returned to Vancouver not long after they were married. Danneel continued working, doing guest starring roles on other series and was cast in the occasional recurring role of Jo.
Every year when the show went on hiatus Jensen would bring up about starting their own family, he was feeling the biological pull more and more. Once again, she stated it wouldn’t be fair for them to have a family and him be a drop-in father, and moving to Vancouver full time, nope, he worked too many hours.
Danneel started dabbling in other interests outside of acting and in 2018 they opened The Family Business Brewery with her family. A few months later Jensen was served with the divorce announcement.
*** “Jensen, it’s time.” He looked up and Alan was saddened by the lost look in his son’s eyes. There was a resignation in those green eyes that never existed before. Saying nothing Jensen got up, slipped on his suit jacket and walked out of the room.
Alan mentally shook himself but that nagging feeling was back once again, something wasn’t right about this whole situation.
*** The Uber stopped at the back door of the small country church. The woman in the backseat thanked the driver and got out, pulling the garment bag with her. She walked to the door and rang the bell. It opened revealing the minister’s wife.
“You’re very late, the wedding is starting in fifteen minutes.” She said, hurrying up a staircase to the second floor and entered an empty room. “Where is your family? They should have arrived already to help you get ready.”
“There is no one coming,” the woman replied as she hung the garment bag over a closet door next to the mirror attached to it. The minister’s wife’s jaw dropped in surprise, “and it won’t take me long to get ready. If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be down in a few minutes.”
She unzipped the bag removing a veil and shoes having arrived already in her dress, chosen by the groom’s mother, and attached the veil to the headpiece holding back part of her simply styled hair. She looked at herself for a moment before pulling the front part of the veil over her face then joined the minister’s wife who was to escort her to the chapel. She placed the shoes she wouldn’t wear until after the ceremony on the small table outside the double doors and took her place in front of them.
Jensen was sitting in the first pew of the small country church wondering why this place was chosen for the wedding as Donna and Alan made their way to sit next to him. His siblings, Joshua and Mackenzie, were already seated in the one behind him with their mates as the rest of the Ackles clan that had been invited filled up the rest of the pews.
He looked over at the bride’s side. There was not a single person seated in any of those pews. He frowned, finding it strange, wondering where her family was when the intro music started.
The minister took his place and gestured for him to rise. Jensen couldn’t move, his body feeling like it was tied down with lead weights. “Jensen!” His mother hissed at him in a low tone.
Suddenly, he felt himself get up, urgently needing to get away from her as his inner Alpha became agitated, as if it sensed something was amiss.
Each secondary gender pairing had their own ceremonial traditions so he was required to remain facing forward when the music changed and the doors behind him opened.
As the guests stood Jensen focused his senses on her as she proceeded down the aisle. He couldn’t scent her, too many different scents mingling together to isolate hers. He listened to the whispering material of the dress as she slowly walked, finally stopping next to him. In his peripheral vision he could see her head bowed under the thick veil obscuring her face and hair, her hands were clasped together in front of her, devoid of a bouquet.
The minister started speaking, talking about the obligations each Alpha and Omega were required to follow as dictated by the book. Jensen inhaled sharply, realizing what was occurring.
This wasn’t the common ceremony but the ancient, traditional version that only the extreme believers still used today. There was absolutely no out for either party from once the proceedings started.
If he objected to the ceremony he would be shunned by his pack, his family would be forced to never acknowledge him again or suffer the same censure; if the marriage didn’t work and they separated, he was responsible for her care as she would be set aside from society and forced to live in isolation.
He looked over at his parents, Alan was pinching the bridge of his nose trying to quell his anger knowing that his mate had put Jensen in an impossible situation as Donna sat there with a fake, placid look.
His own mother had irrevocably bound him to this Omega for the rest of his life.
The rest of the ceremony was a blur, neither party was required to say anything, there was no exchange of rings or a kiss at the end. The minister finished the ceremony and turned to the altar signing the marriage certificate with a quill pen dipped in ink. Jensen signed next, his hand was shaking so violently in anger making his signature barely legible.
The Omega didn’t sign, only her name was required for legality and the minister filled it in. He poured a powder on it to set the ink, blew off the access, rolled it up and tied it with a piece of twine before handing it to Jensen offering his blessings for a fruitful marriage. It took every ounce of his acting ability to politely smile, shake his hand, thanking the minister for the proceedings.
He turned, marching out without acknowledging his bride and she obediently followed behind him, pausing to grab her shoes along the way and scurrying to the waiting limousine climbing in after him.
Jensen sat in the back on the farthest side pouring himself a drink from the bar as his new wife sat quietly near the still open door. A few minutes later Jensen was on his third glass of whiskey when his parents climbed in and the chauffeur shut the door. He started the limo and as they pulled out Alan pressed the button to close the privacy window between them.
The tension in the back was so palatable an icebreaker couldn’t have cut through it. “Donna how could you…” Alan was unable to say anymore, his disgust for what had happened thick in those few words. “I did nothing wrong,” she snapped back, “I only had Jensen’s best interests…”
“Like when you threatened to sabotage my friendship with Jared again? By the way, Clif’s the one who dropped the dime on what happened after I passed out last night, not Jared, so you don’t get to blame him for that too.” Jensen threw back the rest of his drink before continuing.
“Oh, don’t think I’ve ever been ignorant of your disdain for him ‘cause the clan he comes from isn’t good enough for those highfalutin bitches in your social circle. Or how you’ve persuaded me to do this only to find out you took it to the extreme, forcing me into an impossible situation, accept this marriage or lose everything. Congratulations mom, you are still the queen bitch, sorry, bee, your precious reputation is secure.”
They traveled the rest of the way in silence. The limousine pulled onto the grounds of the country club in front of its grand entrance. Jensen got out before the chauffeur finished putting the car in park leaving his new wife to scramble out behind him as Alan and Donna got out the other side.
Jensen finally took a good look at his bride. She was in a simple, modestly cut, long sleeved dress, the only adornments a row of buttons down the bodice, no jewelry and apparently a pair of shoes that didn’t fit as she was struggling to get them on.
She was still fussing with her left shoe when he spoke in a stern voice, “Since our wedding was in the traditional, we’ll continue with its edicts. You are not to remove that veil, acknowledge or speak to anyone. You will not leave my side for any reason. Where I go, you go, three steps behind me. Nod once if you understand.” She nodded once.
“Son, I think…”
“Dad, as the traditional also states, I’m well within my rights to make demands of my Omega without interference, am I not?”
Alan acquiesced, “Yes, you are.”
“So” Jensen rubbed his hands together, “let’s go celebrate this disaster, shall we.” Putting on a fake smile, he went into the venue to greet his family with his Omega obediently three steps behind him.
*** Several hours later
“This shit has got to stop cause I swear it’s the only time I’m doing this dad.” Josh grunts, annoyance thickening his voice as he helped guide his inebriated brother to his hotel room. “Come on.. have ‘nother drunk, ‘posed to be celebrating my disaster marriage to that…’mega..don’t even want her.”
“Jensen, shut the fuck up! I’m not gonna stand here and let you insult your mate.” Josh snapped at him.
Jensen ripped his arm loose, “ ‘en go, not stopping you…and she’s not my mate,” his free arm waves unsteadily as he points towards his new wife standing by the main door, “my real mate took my money, my home, my fucking heart!!!”
Josh turned his back on his brother, “Jensen, I can’t stand seeing you like this, you need to get it together.” He headed for the main door,  pausing to speak to his brother’s new wife, “I’m sorry he’s taken his anger out on you now. My brother is a good man, an honorable Alpha,” he stepped close to her and lowered his voice, “there is far more to this than what you’ve been told, please be patient with him.” He left slamming the door behind him.
“Fuck him,” Jensen muttered staggering into the bedroom and sitting on the edge of the bed slumped over.
“Jensen, your brother is right, you have got to pull yourself together. Therefore, as the Alpha of our clan, you are banned from our family. When you are back to being yourself, the Alpha you once were, you may appeal for re-admittance.”
Alan then did something he hadn’t done since Jensen was a small child, he bent over and placed a kiss on his son’s head, “I love you and I want my son back.” Nodding to his new daughter in law he left.
It hurt him tremendously knowing he wouldn’t see his son for a long time but it was for his own good. Now his Omega was the only one who could help him mend. Hopefully Jensen would see this marriage wasn’t the biggest mistake he’s imagined it to be.
Jensen didn’t move until he heard someone shuffling their feet. He looked up squinting at his new wife still standing by the bedroom door. Sitting up straight he grunted at her and passed out, falling backwards on the mattress. She slowly walked over and hesitated a moment before reaching out touching his shoulder, shaking him.
Getting no response she sat down near him lifting her right foot, gingerly removing the ill fitting shoe with a gasp and then repeated with her left. The blisters on both her heels that had busted open earlier were raw and had bleed. She detached her veil and wadded it up, stuffing it in a shoe and bent over untying Jensen’s and removed them too.
Standing up she gripped both his jacket lapels and hefted him upright to lean against her as she worked it off letting him flop back down and unbuttons his shirt leaving him sleep the case of everything he drank off. She left a pain reliever and bottled water on the nightstand.
Quietly shutting the bath door she found the dress had too many small buttons down the back. She laughed mirthlessly at the irony she was stuck in the dress like this marriage. Pulling the skirt up over her knees she sat on the counter to soak and clean her sore feet in the basin.
Once the worst of the ache was gone she pulled the drain and climbed off to finish washing up the best she could. The mirror reflects back the emotional toll of the last few months in her eyes.
She went over to the bed only to find her husband had moved, sprawled out over its entire surface. Searching for extra bedding and not finding any she gave up going back into the main room and curled up on the couch hoping to find a comfortable position to get some sleep for a few hours so she could briefly forget what her life had become.

Benedict Cumberbatch On His Upcoming Movie "The Courier" And Life During Covid-19   By Annie DarlingAugust 07, 2020  (x)
From the moment he donned his deerstalker as the great Sherlock Holmes, Benedict Cumberbatch’s popularity soared, but his ego didn’t. The actor talks about his forthcoming spy drama and how he’s spending lockdown learning the banjo
Benedict Cumberbatch’s portrayal of the alarmingly awkward Sherlock Holmes has catapulted his career to unimaginable heights. Before donning the detective’s hat in 2010, the distinctive-looking London native landed several quirky acting jobs. He’s played theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, Van Gogh and, lest we forget, the hair-raising paedophile in Atonement (2007). But it was his fast-talking performance as the private investigator, which Steven Spielberg has called “the best Sherlock Holmes on screen”, that transformed Cumberbatch into a high-cheek-boned dreamboat, quite literally overnight.
Now 43, Cumberbatch has proven to be the ultimate chameleon, having played everyone from Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in The Fifth Estate (2013). His portrayal of British mathematician Alan Turing, who cracked Nazi Germany’s Enigma military code during the Second World War, earned him Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. This year, the performer stars in true-life drama The Courier, which is set for an August 28 theatrical release.
STARRING ROLES
This Sixties-based spy story bursts with intrigue and political subterfuge, but what was Cumberbatch’s most memorable moment on set? “The last scene we shot because I got to eat a doughnut afterwards,” he tells me. For the role, he lost a striking amount of weight to transform himself into British businessman Greville Wynne, who spied on the Soviet Union during the Cold War and spent 18 months in a Moscow prison after being caught. Directed by Dominic Cooke, The Courier is based on Wynne’s real-life experiences, and production had to be suspended to give Cumberbatch enough time to slim down to Wynne’s post-lockup figure.
Drawn to characters he describes as “unexpected”, Cumberbatch enjoys the challenge of an on-screen transformation. But when asked about his greatest achievement, he refuses to answer. “That’s a question for others. Getting my first paid acting job felt as good as anything I’ve been lucky enough to land.” His thoughtfulness has somehow survived super-stardom. “Life’s about the journey,” he reminds me, before admitting that winning his first BAFTA for the title role in Patrick Melrose (2019) was a “wonderful moment”.
For Cumberbatch, there was never any doubt about which road his career would take. When asked what he would do if he could no longer act, he draws a blank. “I have no idea. Maybe I’d be a surf instructor in Costa Rica. Or a tree surgeon.” The only child of British actors Tim Carlton of Downton Abbey (2011) and Wanda Ventham of Only Fools and Horses (1989-1992), Cumberbatch grew up in London’s exclusive Kensington neighbourhood before attending Harrow, one of the oldest all-boys schools in Britain. From there, he headed straight to drama school. On advice from an agent, he began calling himself Benedict Cumberbatch—adopting the surname his father had dropped years before, thinking it too complicated.
You’d be wrong, however, to assume it’s all been smooth sailing. While filming the BBC mini-series To the Ends of the Earth (2005), Cumberbatch and two of his co-stars were kidnapped in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, after a day spent scuba-diving. When the trio pulled over with a flat tyre, six men jumped them at gunpoint. After a visit to the ATM, the hijackers let them go. Surprisingly, this harrowing ordeal hasn’t put Cumberbatch off the underwater sport. “I’ve loved diving ever since I learned how to do it with a friend in Mozambique years ago.”
DIVING TOOLS
It’s one of the reasons Cumberbatch wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox. The original from 1968 had one of the first diver’s alarms, which would remind divers when it was time to resurface. Cumberbatch was introduced to the Swiss watchmaker when he starred in Doctor Strange (2016), in which he plays one of Marvel’s more mind-blowing superheroes. He’s currently learning lines for the sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (planned for 2022).
“In 2016, Jaeger-LeCoultre was just another watch brand to me,” admits Cumberbatch, but he learned more about the company after visiting its manufacture in Vallée de Joux. Engraving and enamelling require hours of minute manipulation. “There was a George Seurat masterpiece called Bathers at Asnières projected onto a screen that was the size of the original painting,” he recalls. “Not understanding what I was looking at, I turned around and saw that a lady was painting it onto the back of a Reverso watch, which is no bigger than a postage stamp. She was doing it with a brush barely bigger than a millimetre.”
Halfway across the world, at the time of interview, Cumberbatch and his family were adjusting to life after lockdown in New Zealand, where he is filming Jane Campion’s upcoming drama The Power of the Dog (planned for 2021). He and his wife, the stage director Sophie Hunter, have two sons, Christopher (nicknamed Kit) and Hal. “I’ve tried to maintain some sense of sanity by using lockdown as a forced opportunity to be in one place.” Fun-filled activities include learning how to play the banjo and baking bread. “Actually,” he contemplates, “it’s been really busy.” And a good thing too, because we won’t have to wait long before he’s back on the big screen.

Some good book series I’ve read you might want to check out.
Note: I’m horrible at explaining things, so I’ll try and give a brief explaination of the series in question and move on. The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica written and Illustrated by James A. Owen. Mind you, I know most of my followers and mutuals and what not have already read this...but in case you someone who hasn’t, I highly recommend this. It’s the one thing I always recommend that my friends and family are practically sick about hearing it. It’s the sort of series with a lot of Mythology, some Literature and a fair dose of History. You’ve got Three guys all brought together following a man’s death and they end being entrusted with an Atlas of all he lands of Myth, legend and literature the Archipelago of Dreams. A seven book series, finished. Good stuff. Also, there’s Talking Badgers, Clock Work Owls, Time Travel, epic quests! It’s just great. It also has one of the best fandoms (lacking some of the negative qualities that I understand plague the larger sorts). First book is Here, there Be Dragons. There’s omnibus things, but they lack the beautiful illustrations. Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michele Paver. I swear these aren’t Chronicles of this or that. It’s a series set in Stone Age (Neolithic?) Finland I want to say? First book you’ve got a This 12 year old whose dad has been fatally wounded by i big ass Demon Posseses Bear! Gets a Wolf cub side kick buddy, ends up on a quest to stop said demon bear. The other books are basically problem, trying to solve it leads to a new locale of the world. Good stuff. Amazing Villains (EOSTRA SEES ALL!). Great main characters (Torak, Renn, Wolf), and side characters (The Walker is one of my favorites). Six books. First is Wolf Brother. There’s also amazing audio books narrated by Sir Ian McKellan. It’s awesome! The Leviathan Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. This one is easy. Fictional son of real life royalty on the run, young girl cross dressing to join the Air service...oh yeah! It’s World War One and the War Machines at play are either Diesel Punk Walkers and Tesla Cannons, and Genetically Enginered monstrosities...for example the titular Leviathan is a Whale that’s a Blimp?? Has one of the most amusing ship names ever (Dalek for Deryn and Alek). Also, another series with art which is both beautiful and excellent! You should be able to find a trailer that better explains it on YouTube or some such. This also has an excellent audio book, narrated by Alan Cumming. But the art!!! As the Trilogy bit implies, it’s three books. Complete and stuff. Let’s see...what else is there.. The Ranger’s Apprentice Series by John Flanagan. You’ve got this orphan boy Will who is wanting to become a Knight and stuff as young boys in Fantasy series tend to do. Only for on the day when it’s time for people to choose Apprentices and stuff. Will’s Bully (at First they’re eventually great friends) does get into Battle school. Another child is Apprenticed as Courier, another as a Scribe, and Will gets chosen by the Enigmatic and spooky Ranger Halt. Basically about learning to be a Ranger for the kingdom of I forget how to spell it. Fantasy equivalent England. The Ranger Corps basically deal with Espionage and stuff ...12 books long? Book seven should be read after book four then continue on to 6, 7, and so on.You’ve got a spin off series. A prequel series. Funny as hell. First book is the Ruins of Gorlan. The Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. Interdimensional travel and Elemental Magic! A cool way of writing about magic. I’m having difficulty remembering names and terms off the top of my head. Kell, Lila Bard, Prince Rhys (One of the best characters, Kell’s adoptive brother, who is a Bi as Hell (Pan?) Prince Who is wonderful and deserves to be happy). You’ve got Brothers, Thieves, Pirates, Interdimensional Political Intrigue...and a really cool Magic system. Just good. I can’t think of how to explain it. Kell is one of only two known people who can travel between the different Dimensional London’s. Red London (Kell’s), Grey London (our World, later Georgian Era (Mad King George III and what not), and where Lila is from), and White London. And...crap. I can’t remember how to explain this one, just take my word that it is great! There’s like a few other series...but I think I’ll leave it with these. If you haven’t read any of these, I’d recommend them. And I’d advise looking up actual blurbs which can actually explain stuff. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming.

Sundance 2019: "Native Son" Review
Adapted from Richard Wright’s beloved classic of the same title, Native Son is the coming of age tale of a young man trying to make sense of the world. Ashton Sanders transforms himself into an intellectual, punk rock loving, existentialist caught in between worlds as Bigger “Big” Thomas. While the performances are strong here, the adaptation of a 1940’s story to modern times doesn’t quite work as well.
Single mother, Trudy Thomas (Sanaa Lathan), is trying to make it with her three children after being widowed six years ago. Her new boyfriend (David Alan Grier) has a connection to Henry Dalton (Bill Camp) and knows that he’s looking for a new driver. Seeing it as an opportunity to make a little more money than he has been as a bike courier, Big takes the job.
Big quickly finds himself in a world where money seems to be no issue and things start off well. He drives for the family, but particularly Mr. Dalton’s daughter, Mary (Margaret Qualley). She introduces him to some of her friends, and he introduces her to his, including a little ecstasy. After Mary gets super high one night, Big finds himself in a particularly difficult situation and a decision that changes the course of his life forever is made.
Kiki Layne, hot off of If Beale Street Could Talk, shines as Big’s hairdresser girlfriend, whose hair changes in virtually each scene she’s in. Sanders proves that he is a young actor to watch as he gives an extremely tempered and introspective performance as Big. Director Rashid Johnson certainly controls the pacing and camera throughout the film. Unfortunately, Suzan-Lori Parks’ (Their Eyes Were Watching God) screenplay doesn’t translate well. Big lives at home with his mom one day and then is a live-in driver the next, and it feels like the family story is thrown away until the film needs them again. There’s a strange Get Out vibe that comes and goes throughout the story as the Dalton’s try to show they’re down for the cause. Most importantly, Big’s life altering decision just isn’t what a young black man as seemingly educated as he is would make. He would have cut the opportunity to get to that crossroad way before he got there.
The novel presents a character who is trying to stir things up in a whirlwind of prejudice that surrounds him. His surrounding are a pressure cooker in which he feels trapped. This adaptation feels like while Big’s character may be dealing with issues, there’s always a feasible way out. While you may enjoy the ride for the first part of the film you’ll quickly want to get dropped off at the nearest stop about half way through.

when I name OCs, I usually take at least one name from a previously existing fictional character that I like or admire in some capacity
Kate Antilles (Lone Wanderer, FO3) + Wedge Antilles (Star Wars)
Jem (Courier Six, FO: NV) + James “Jem” Coughlin (The Town)
Deckard Grant (Sole Survivor, FO4) + Rick Deckard (Blade Runner) + Dr. Alan Grant (Jurassic Park)
(Anna Bishop was largely a spin off of the fact that a “Rook” and a “Bishop” are both chess pieces, but if i were to try and pretend to continue the trend for her, she would have been named for the android Bishop from Aliens who has one cool knife trick)

Arrest made in murder of a Racine woman in the Rocky Mountains in 1982 She was training a once-wild mustang. She raised birds from egg to flight. She had a daughter. On the night of Jan. 6, 1982, her life was taken. Bobbie Jo Oberholtzer, a Racine native born Barbara Burns, was trying to hitchhike home from a bar to her home in Alma, Colo. She never made it home. She was 29. Phillips After 39 years, Colorado law enforcement — spurred on by an obsessed, retired detective who refused to give up and thought he would die before the case was solved — say they have found the man who killed Bobbie Jo Oberholtzer in what had been known as the “Rocky Mountain Cold Case.” The suspect is Alan Lee Phillips, a 70-year-old, semi-retired mechanic who never left Colorado after he allegedly ended two lives there. Family shocked by news Oberholtzer was a 1971 Park High School graduate who still has family members living locally. On Monday, Lisa Laudenbach — a cousin of Oberholtzer’s who still lives in Racine — said she was at her mom’s when an aunt called. Her mom looked shocked while on the phone. “They found Bobbie’s killer,” Laudenbach’s mom said, shocked. “Wow,” was all Laudenbach could say in reply. “A kind soul, she never hurt anybody … She just didn’t deserve this,” Oberholtzer’s sister, Laurie Merlo, who lives in Sturtevant, told The Journal Times on Wednesday. Quote “Day after day after day for 32 years, bingo, it’s solved — or at least there’s an arrest.” Charlie McCormick, retired Denver homicide detective Barbara “Bobbie” Jo Oberholtzer (nee: Burns), a Racine native murdered in 1982 near her home in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, is shown in this photo shared by her sister. Photo courtesy of Laurie Merlo Two women, two socks, one killer Jan. 6, 1982, was supposed to be a good day for Oberholtzer. She had been promoted at work and was going out for drinks with coworkers. Her husband offered to pick her up from the bar but she declined, choosing to hitchhike as she often did; especially in that small mountain community, hitchhiking was common in the early ‘80s. By midnight, her husband was worried since she hadn’t come home. A missing-persons report was filed before sunrise. In the morning, a rancher found her driver’s license along a highway. Oberholtzer’s backpack was found nearby by her husband. Then her gloves, covered in blood, were found. Following the trail of clues, investigators were led to a parking area near Hoosier Pass, a route through the Rocky Mountains at 11,000 feet above sea level along the Continental Divide. Her body was found there. She had been shot twice in the back. It appeared she had escaped from her attacker and was running away when the fatal shots were fired. She was left for dead. Schnee The body of another hitchhiking young blonde woman who went missing the same day, 21-year-old Annette Schnee, wouldn’t be found for another six months. Her body was discovered on July 3, about 10 miles south of where Oberholtzer was found. She, too, had been shot. The women didn’t know each other, but their deaths were linked by the unlikeliest of clues: a distinctive orange sock being found at each murder site. Support Local Journalism Your membership makes our reporting possible. featured_button_text Without any witnesses or modern technology, the cases went cold. The alleged killer has been found by a more predictable clue: DNA evidence. End of a journey Alan Lee Phillips, as pictured approximately 40 years ago. Courtesy Park County (Colo.) Sheriff’s Office Last year, retired Denver homicide detective Charlie McCormick got in touch with United Data Connect, a company that performs forensic genetic genealogy analysis, i.e., the process of law enforcement officers analyzing DNA belonging to an unknown suspect and cross-referencing that DNA with thousands of samples in databases to identify suspects’ relatives, and thus find the suspect themselves. Phillips was identified. He still lived only about 35 miles away from where the murders occurred, in a neighboring county. He has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault and two counts of homicide. Law enforcement reportedly surveilled him for weeks before attempting a traffic stop on Feb. 24. Park County (Colo.) Sheriff Tom McGraw said during a Wednesday news conference at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in Lakewood, Colo., that Phillips didn’t resist arrest even after finding out he was being charged with murder. Phillips didn’t make any statements, either. “We were working day in and day out on this case,” said District Attorney Linda Stanley, who was sworn in on Jan. 12, as investigators were already hot on Phillips’ trail. Officials are investigating if the 70-year-old is connected to any other cold cases; they have not revealed how they obtained his DNA. In July 2020, Det. McCormick told a Denver TV news station:  “I have no problem working it to the bitter end …  you can’t walk away from it, or I can’t. Haven’t wanted to. Tomorrow’s another day, and you got stuff to do, and you see what might happen.” Added Mitch Morrissey, a retired district attorney who co-founded United Data Connect: “If you read the facts of this case, and you think about these two young, beautiful women that you’ve seen pictures of lying in the snow after being shot in the darkness by themselves, dying, basically freezing to death, it would make you not give up, like Charlie didn’t, and make you want to answer the question of who would do such a horrible thing to somebody.” United Data Connect has helped solve numerous cold cases, several of which have links to Wisconsin: Its work helped convict three Wisconsin men in separate grizzly cases of rape and sexual assault. But forensic genetic genealogy analysis, which costs thousands of dollars per case, related to the killings of Schnee and Oberholtzer didn’t begin until the trails had been cold for decades. Two years ago, Merlo traveled with Oberholtzer’s daughter to Colorado to be part of an episode of “On the Case with Paula Zahn,” a crime program produced by the Investigation Discovery channel. Being part of that program, Merlo told The Journal Times on Wednesday, brought “a little more hope that DNA testing would be finally used to find out what happened.” A 1982 news clipping from The Journal Times reporting on Bobbie Joe Oberholtzer’s death in Colorado. Journal Times archives During Wednesday’s news conference, a prepared statement from Oberholtzer’s daughter was read. “I have lived with a monster in my mind since I was 11 years old,” she said. Investigators credited periodic media coverage from local news outlets and national crime documentary programs for keeping the fire burning in the case. McGraw said during Wednesday’s news conference that investigators are still looking for more information related to the killings. A statement from Oberholtzer’s widower, Jeff Oberholtzer, concluded: “Phillips is finally in the hands of the judicial system. May justice be served.” McCormick, who started investigating the murders in 1989, said that now the case may be nearing a courtroom conclusion, “I’ve been trying to define my emotions and it’s been very hard to do. It’s like a new beginning. I never thought I’d see the day, frankly … “It’s been a long haul. It was a case that just kept going because it kept going. There’s always something to do, that as a good investigator or as a professional investigator you couldn’t ignore you had to work on it. “Day after day after day for 32 years, bingo, it’s solved — or at least there’s an arrest.” Callahan-McDade case cover.jpg IMAGE COURTESY OF THE KENOSHA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 19 Mar 1981, Thu · Page 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 5 Apr 1981, Sun · Page 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 5 Apr 1981, Sun · Page 5 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 7 Apr 1981, Tue · Page 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 7 Apr 1981, Tue · Page 3 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News Courier (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 7 Apr 1981 part 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News Courier (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 7 Apr 1981 part 2 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 8 Apr 1981, Wed · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 9 Apr 1981, Thu · Page 18 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 10 Apr 1981, Fri · Page 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News – Sunday, April 12, 1981 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 12 Apr 1981, Sun · Page 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 12 Apr 1981, Sun · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 12 Apr 1981, Sun · Page 50 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 13 Apr 1981, Mon · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 16 Apr 1981, Thu · Page 19 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 21 Apr 1981, Tue · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 22 Apr 1981, Wed · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News Courier (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 28 Apr 1981, Tue · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 18 May 1981, Mon · Page 14 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Sunday News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 5 Jul 1981, Sun · Page 16 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 2 Sep 1981, Wed · Page 1 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News – Thursday, Dec. 31, 1981 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 16 Jan 1986, Thu · Page 6 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News Courier (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 22 Jan 1986, Wed · Page 8 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 21 Apr 1990, Sat · Page 45 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 18 Mar 1991, Mon · Page 3 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com On this Day, Jan. 14, 1996 – Sunday News – Newspapers.com Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Kenosha News (Kenosha, Wisconsin) · 30 Jun 1997, Mon · Page 25 Image Courtesy of Newspapers.com Get the latest in local public safety news with this weekly email. Woodbury Lions Club hosting American Red Cross blood drives
Tumblr media
vimeo
Blood Drives in Cannon County for over 60 years.
It has been said that the Lions Club drives are the best in the Tennessee Valley Region Blood Services area, which includes all of Tennessee, parts of Kentucky, and Alabama.
The extra effort put forth by the Lions Club has little to do with it. The Woodbury Lions Club has a committee of members that work together to help insure that everything runs smoothly, along with community volunteers who like to help out.
Some of the volunteers have more experience working with blood drives that the actual Red Cross staff who go out daily working with blood drives within the area.
Committee chairmen’s Patsy and Carl Hirlston and Bobby Bogard with committee members Ken and Artie Jean McIntyre, Lois Larimer, Clyde Thomas, Nolan Northcutt, Robert Jennings, Charlie Brown, Clyde and Kitty Bush, Chris Brushaber, Danny Miller, Cliff Swoape, Andy Jacobs, Doug Combs, and Gina Mitchell, all work together along with community volunteers of Bessie Miller, Orval and Esther Gray, Juanita Burks, Cathey Parker, Betty Harder, Shirley Borren, Jane Jennings, Grace Young, Nile Young, Della Young, Robert Young, Kay Campbell, Carol Davenport, Bobbie Henline, Jim Henline, Betty Paschal, Ann Todd, Mary Sue Vinson, and Mary Nelle Hillis too create a professional staff that assist members of the American Red Cross staff.
The Lions Club assigns a task of greeting donors and signing them in, handing out water and assigning donors with a number.
Copies of the Cannon Courier are provided for donors to read before or after their donation.
Red Cross provides snacks and the Woodbury Lions Club has additional snacks such as: a one-of-a-kind trail mix, peanut butter and crackers, baloney and crackers, and cheese and crackers.
A staff works in the canteen area who assist the donors after they have donated by getting them a drink of juice, water, soda, or coffee and then sitting with them and talking. They also watch the donor to see if the donors face color changes or if their arm starts bleeding from where the donor had given blood.
Woodbury Club also keeps records of each donation and awards donors with pins and Certificates when completing gallon donations. Along with taking pictures of donors receiving awards and being pinned with a gallon donation pin, plus having members of the Lions Club calling and reminding donors of upcoming blood drives also adds a little bit more to why Cannon County Blood Drives are better and produces more regular donors than other areas which has a larger population.
Woodbury Lions Club host six blood drives a year, always the third Thursday in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Each blood drive is noon until six pm except May’s drive, which runs from 9 am until 6 pm. May’s blood drive is a donor appreciation drive, and most of the businesses in Cannon County donate door prizes.
In the last five to six years, each donor was able to win three of four items because of the generosity of the businesses and their support of the Lions Club and wanting to reward the true everyday heroes of Cannon County, those who give of themselves to help save the lives of others. In most cases, they are saving the lives of people who they do not know.
On May 20th, 2010 the following businesses provided door prizes for the heroes of Cannon County: A Touch of Home Flower’s & Gifts, Arts Center of Cannon County, Auto Zone, Birdsong Adhesives, Boyd’s Garage, Briar Rose Flowers and Gifts, Bromley/Jennings Automotive, Cannon County Chiropractic, Cannon Market, Captain D’s, CareAll, Cell Plus, Coco Tan & Spa, Chilangoes Mexican Restaurant, Curves, Cutting Edge Hair Salon, D J’s Pizza and Steakhouse, Family Dentistry Deason & Bucher, Farm Bureau Insurance, First National Bank, Flower Occasions, Gina’s Boutique, Hardee’s, Hayes Bros Auto Care, Hibdon’s Body Shop, Higgins Car Wash, J P’s Fine Swine Bar-B-Que, Jennings Jewelers, Joe’s Place, Legendary Cuts, Lightwriters Photography, Lions Pizza Den, The Millennium Hair Salon, Moonlite Drive-In, NAPA, The Old Feed Store, One Stop Market, Parsley’s Market & Deli, Paul Reed’s Furniture, Paul’s Auto Service, Piggly Wiggly, Potter’s Ace Hardware, Quick Shop Market, Reed’s Building Supply, Regions Bank, Roger Hindman Body Shop, Scavenger Hunt Flea Market, Scavenger Hunt Trading Post, The Scoreboard, Shirt Shack, Shotgun County Pawn & Gun, Smitty Tire Shop, Stewart’s Printing, Stone Gait Tack and Feed, Subway, West End Tobacco Store, Woodbury Auto Express, Woodbury Insurance Agency, and Woodbury Lawn & Garden. Every donor and volunteer received a promotional ink pen from DTC, a pillbox from Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperation, Chap Stick from FirstBank, a value meal card from Sonic, and a 3 pound bag of stone ground corn meal from The Readyville Mill.
The Red Cross also provided promotional items and the Woodbury Lions Club provided $10 gift certificates and a grand prize of $100 gift card.
It is very hard to find another community that has so many businesses that support a civic club as much as the ones in Cannon County.
Most all the businesses give support to the Woodbury Lions Club for sponsorship of the Lions Club Horse Show, White Cane donations, and door prizes for the donor appreciation Blood Drive. Without support from the local businesses, the Woodbury Lions Club would not be able to do as much as it does within the community, state, country, and world. Local businesses are one of the leading reasons why Cannon County Blood Drives are so much better that anywhere else in the state.
Another reason and probably the number one reason the blood drives are the best anywhere is the volume of regular donors in Cannon County. In any community only a certain per cent are eligible to donate and of that per cent only about 3 to 5 percent actually donates, but the donors in Cannon County has a much higher percent.
This is not due to the Lions Club and its part, nor the businesses and its part, but it is the individual donor and the way of life in Cannon County, the way most have been raised to want to help others in need in any way they can.
The mentality of the average person in Cannon County is to serve in any way they can. This mentality is one of the reasons Woodbury Lions Club is one of the largest clubs in the state.
It is why the businesses give as much as they do, and why so many volunteers do jobs within the county for little or no pay. The parents, schools and churches within the community teach the children from an early age of the importance of giving back to the community in which they live and the lesson that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
This is why Cannon County has had over 360 donors in the past 2-½ years. Woodbury Lions Club and the American Red Cross both use fiscal years that begin on 1 July and end 30 June.
The following is a list of local heroes who gave during the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Those donating Double Red Blood Cells count as two donations, the max number of times any one can give in a fiscal year in whole blood or double red cells is 6. The number that follows a persons name is the amount of pints given as of 30 June 2010.

The Woodbury Lions Club has received several awards of appreciation from the American Red Cross for their support of the Community Blood Program, and there is a lot of speculation as to why a small community does so well on the blood drives.
A lot of the credit is given to the Lions Club for putting out an extra effort.
Some credit is given for having good media coverage with the Cannon Courier, the Cannon Wire, and WBRY radio. Some credit is given for the support given by the businesses in Cannon County.
Any community can have a civic organization that puts forth the extra effort, and have good media and local businesses supporting them, but they don’t have the attitude and dedication of serving others that is instilled into Cannon Countians from birth until death.
The Woodbury Lions Club expresses heartfelt gratitude to all the media, businesses, and donors for exceeding the yearly goals set forth by the Red Cross based on past history.
It is so great to live among so many heroes. Likes: 7 Viewed:

Imposters, false identites, fake deaths Seasons 1 & 2
It would take too long for me to list every alias Red, Liz, and Tom has ever used. So yeah ... add all of those in if you feel like making up your own list. General Ludd has his aliases taped to the wall of his storage unit. If I’ve missed any for seasons 1 & 2, feel free to add.
Ranko Zamani aka  Sacha M. Chacko: 1x1
Cooper: Ranko Zamani’s been dead for six years. He’s a non–existent threat. Red: Then a dead man just stepped off United 283 from Munich to Dulles.
Donald Ressler acting as The Courier: 1x5
Ressler: Is this what you need to see? You want to watch me bleed, see if I react? I’ve already lost the only thing in this world I’ve ever loved. I have nothing in this world, except this job. Dechambou: Impressive. Except for one mistake. If the Iranian is dead, the real Courier would have killed me too. Which makes me wonder - Who the hell are you?
Gina Zanetakos aka Shubie Hartwell: 1x6 Liz: According to Reddington, her real name is Gina Zanetakos. Nearly a year ago, she reached out to him as Shubie Hartwell. She wanted Red to broker a deal to assassinate a supreme court judge who was the swing vote in a case that could have cost her corporate clients billions.
Nathaniel Wolff, multiple identities: 1x8
Ressler: But we’ve got Nathaniel Wolff’s fingerprints all over the place. Two different people, both with the exact same print? You can’t change his fingerprints. Liz: He changed his face.
Garrick & Shining Path: 1x9
Red: He liberated Mahmoud Al Azok from an Alcatraz–like CIA black site in the Bering Sea. Meera: That was Shining Path, a splinter cell. Azok has ties to a Caribbean money launderer. Red: No. That was Garrick, paid by that same Peruvian money launderer to make it appear as though Shining Path broke him out. It was Garrick.
Pytor & Catherine Madrczyk. Eric, Molly, and Annie Trettel: 1x12
Liz: You have eyes on the target? Meera: Target is dead. Hold tight while I look for his ghost.
Bobby Jonica & Aiko Tanida: 1x16
Red: Aiko Tanida died the day his brother was captured by Ressler’s task force. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t know the difference between a water buffalo and a musk ox.
Ivan & Harrison Lee: 1x17
Ivan: It wasn’t me. Red: Then who was it? Ivan: I don’t know, but he’s been using my name.
Christopher Maly aka Craig Keen: 1x18
Red: Of course you can. I have a fingerprint. Benson ran it, got a name. She says the print belongs to a Craig Keen. Well, Craig Keen is an alias – a very good one at that, complete with a credit rating, school and medical records, passports with a long history - all the trimmings. What do you know about touch DNA?
Liz: I know who you are. I know about the time you did at Wasco. I know about the warrants. I know about you, Christopher Maly. Somebody provided you with an identity, a history, embedded you into my life. I want to know who, and I want to know why.
Berlin & Fake Berlin: 1x21 & 1x22
Liz: The man you killed wasn’t Berlin. Red: Yes, I know.
Nora & Rowan Mills: 2x1
Liz: Nora killed Rowan because she envied her. She wanted to become her. She wanted to be the good sister, the sister who didn’t get abused by her uncle. Nora/Rowan: You’re lying. Nobody murdered Rowan! I’m Rowan!
Tom Keen & Jacob Phelps: 2x1
Liz: My husband was an impostor, a fake. Keen was never his name.
Carla Reddington aka Naomi Hyland, 2x4
Naomi: Carla Reddington was a miserable housewife married to a miserable man. That woman no longer exists.
Liz and her stand-in: 2x5 Woman: Is he out there? Liz: Yeah. I’m going out back. This is for last week. Do it one more week, and I’ll pay you double. I’ll be back in one hour.
Ace & The Mombasa Cartel: 2x6
Red: There you are - Sean Salter. You went by the name “Ace” back then. You left Animal Underground two years before the Sitka Seven killings and subsequent trials. Lucky, that. But, then - you’ve always had a talent for well-timed exits. Well, it seems - Ace, there’s still some freaks up there living in the woods, skinning people and dumping them in the Bay.
Samar & The Scimitar: 2x7
Red: Because one of The Scimitar’s little-known aliases is Walid Abu Sitta. Samar: Walid Abu Sitta is the man who ordered the bombing that killed my brother. Red: Yes. That’s why I brought this case to you.
Alan Fitch & The Decembrist: 2x8
Liz: The Decembrist. His real name is Kiryl Morozov.
Red: You’re not The Decembrist. Morozov: It was the American. It was him. They gave the order! Red: What people? Morozov: I can’t say. Red: Who is The Decembrist? Morozov: Fitch. His name is Alan Fitch.
Zoe Dantonio, Berlin's daughter: 2x8
Red: You ordered the bombing in Kursk. Then you pinned it on me. You blamed me for killing his daughter. Some years ago, a copy of this photo was left on the corpse of an associate of mine. Taking it as a warning, I traced the girl to a man they call The Stewmaker. He told me a story about the girl. She was sent to him by a man she’d never met. She was in trouble, needed to disappear. So he took her photo, put it in a locket, and sent it to her father. All those years spent searching for the man who supposedly murdered his daughter, and it was you. You sat here in this very room and pretended you had no idea who Berlin was or why he was coming for me. He was coming, Alan, because you sent him.
Tracy Solobotkin & The Deer Hunter
Tracy: All those women Whitehaven had helped, just like me - I could give them their lives back by becoming him.
Liz: You’re just like your husband. Tracy: I’m nothing like my husband! Liz: You’re exactly like him - like all the sick, psychopathic animals we lock up. Tracy: Oh, you haven’t heard a word that I’ve been saying. Liz: I’ve heard every word “I could give them back their lives.” Why don’t you just admit it? You get off on killing people. It doesn’t matter if the victim’s a scumbag or a saint - you get off just the same, just like your husband.
Vanessa Cruz: 2x18
Hernandez: They found her folded clothing at Rockaway Beach. They never found a body, but I know she was dead. She’d never abandon me.
Aram: Guys, check it out. The detectives and the lawyers may not have found anything conclusive on their own, but if you put the photos they found together - Our ghost has a face.
Liz: Our ghost has a name Vanessa Cruz. If I can find the person who brokered her -
Elizabeth Keen aka Masha Rostova: 2x20
Liz: The girl - The night of the fire, they called her - Red: Masha. You were born in Moscow.
Andropov acting as Karakurt: 2x21
Red: Now, that’s what’s interesting. He orders you to send them to Union Station, ostensibly to throw them off Karakurt’s trail. Cooper: And there he is. Red: Perhaps Agent Keen was mistaken. Cooper: And assaulted by a total stranger? That makes even less sense. It was some kind of ambush. And I sent my people right into it.
Karakurt acting as a news reporter: 2x22 Karakurt: How many times are we gonna go through this? That picture isn’t me. Call my office. Check my visa, check my identity. Ressler: We know you’re working for the Cabal. We know what they’re capable of. Liz: Was this the plan all along, to protect you with this identity? The Cabal has people in the government all over the world. It wouldn’t be hard for them to create a Jonas Flemming, give him a history.
