RAM was sweating buckets. Absolute buckets. Absolute FUCKING BUCKETS.

There was a high-ranking Admin here. One in various shades of yellow, with a glistening gold koban coin as a clasp to their outfit. The ram Program was stood off to the side as she watched the other one work. She'd been shown a badge - whoever this was being an ambassador from the Council of the Adminspace. Yes, she may work for the Browsers, but an Admin of that caliber outranked her a great deal.

Why were they even here?

This was just so odd. Ambassadors for the Council came regularly, but it was never to inspect things. It was mostly to request files for meetings and other such things. Yes, she knew the Adminspace had been having an investigation (she didn't know what, but she found it odd how Cursor had been the one to speak with her) but no details were made known to the public. RAM, of course, only knew because of Cursor asking her odd questions.

The Admin had been careful not to say anything but.. it sounded like someone was missing. But that was impossible, wasn't it? Sure, the Adminspace had its troubles, but no one would go missing and not be found for months!

Well.. there was that incident at Nintendo World Online. The server had been closed off for a time, and when it opened back up, there were rumors of Programs being given credits to not speak about what happened at all, along with signing contracts about it. She didn't understand it, at all. What could have happened to cause such secrecy?

"I'm finished," the Ambassador finally spoke.

RAM blinked and glanced up. She checked her internal clock and balked.

30 minutes?! What had this Ambassador been doing for 30 minutes?

It took a moment before she nodded. "R-Right, of course. I'm- I'm glad I was able to help..?"

"You were able to help immensely." The Ambassador put the data pad away. "Have a good day."

RAM watched with a small grimace, hooves clicking together as she watched the Ambassador leave. She turned her head to stare towards the rows of shelves, and the data within. What could be so important?

She approached and brought up a scanner, running it over everything.

She faltered at the [NOTICE: SUBMITTER FOR MULTIPLE DATAS CHANGED] appeared in a box beside her. She hastily pulled a data pad and scanned it over before frowning at the submitter section.

U.A.S.

Undisclosed Adminspace Submitter.

Why would..?

Wait, hadn't this.. been a data pack CPU had submitted?

.. all of these changed ones were..!

One by one she yanked out the data pads and looked. Her face went from confusion to shock to bewilderment.

She stood there in the back of the IA, alone, staring at the shelves.

Why in the world did the Ambassador do this? Technically, she couldn't do anything about it. It wasn't against rules, and to make changes to something a more powerful Admin wanted to change.

RAM shook her head.

Oh, she did not like this.

Well, since things are not allowed to go too smoothly, I do seem to have a problem with the new pc. it restarts randomly and I have been going through crossing out the reasons why it happens for the past few days and well... if doing a fresh windows install and not updating all the drivers for shit doesn't work either, I think I'm looking at either psu or a motherboard issue :) psu i could deal with but motherboard would be problematic in so many ways, please don't be that.

I hope a lot of people who work in corporate IT learned a valuable lesson this weekend about why it's not more okay for a corporate computer to have programs that fuck around with your system than it is for an individual computer

reading about the history of computer science is very fun for having thoughts about the technology of the game's setting (which i assume must exist in the same level to one extent or another outside of krat, even if puppets are a monopoly of krat's. i mean, geppetto is not even from krat and he's been established to be a genius inventor even before he came there and invented puppets)

do you think puppets are programmed through some form of punched card on a real version of the analytical engine. do you think ada lovelace existed in this world or that she at least had an equivalent.
