Fireside chats are great because they are not for seriousness, they are for sentences like:
“Common is not Caleb’s first language, so he might not get the intricacies of the Decemberists lyrics”

"With Marisha, we didn't talk about it, we didn't plan it. In fact, we planned on it not being a thing."
...Yeah, I can tell.
#cr discourse#cr fireside chat#anti imodna#I'm genuinely enjoying everything else so far#but like yow.#I guess the fact that she didn't discuss it with Taliesin would explain why she thought it would turn out fine#but to have outright intended it to not happen and still not talk once you decided it was going to#critical role#fireside chat spoilers

I love that they asked if Liam might be in a Calamity side quest and Marisha is like "Yes, Liam has already talked to Brennan about a character" and just like, the unspoken rule that Brennan GMs all the Calamity stories.

Question about Ashton's mother and Taliesin's response, in the Fireside Chat
pancake220:
We know quite a lot about Ashton’s father, but almost nothing about their mother. Do you know anything about her that you can share with us?
Ashton is very much a child of abandonment - that was always going to be a very big. I mean that was a lot of the core honestly of the character, was abandonment issues.
That was of having that void and knowing that eventually Matt would probably put something there.
But it was all about that void and all about the reaction that was going to happen to learning about that void.
I tend to find the two standard reactions of course to that kind of abandonment are either obsessed focus that I’ve seen, with trying to figure out what the fuck happened, or walk the fuck away and put it away. And walk the fuck away and put it away sometimes backfires. And suddenly you’re like ‘Oh good, I really possibly shouldn’t have done that. Maybe I am …’
Like what happens to someone’s head when they suddenly find out that there’s all this information that was just sitting there that they avoided, yeah that was a hole there.

Sam: I'd like to do something more serious. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I feel like people think I'm the funny guy.
*alarm goes off*
Sam: oh! For this break I'm going to watch TikTok.
*proceeds to watch TikTok loudly while a concerned producer yells at him in the background*

Watching the fireside chat over my lunch break and Liam describing not having Caleb leave the party because Matt had said “if he leaves, he’s mine” as “uhh you can’t have my buddy, I will figure it out” was so funny to me for some reason.

Always appreciate when Matt takes the time to answer questions but that fireside chat was... a roller coaster.
