Pavement - Melkweg, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, March 2, 1994

30 years of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain?! I guess that is a milestone worth marking. As a 15-year-old high schooler, CRCR was my first exposure to Pavement — and it was pretty much love at first listen.

The timing was just right. In the spring of 1994, I was spending more and more time with my friends in the garage playing music, horsing around, fending off ye olde teen angst. Pavement is great for many reasons, but one of the big ones for me is that not many other bands capture so well that feeling of making a hilarious racket with your pals, reaching towards (and rarely grasping) some kind of oddball togetherness. What does it mean, a mistake or two, (im)perfect sound forever, elevate me later.

Anyway! Here is what must've been one of the very first shows that Pavement played in support of Crooked Rain, all the way out in Amsterdam, via the awesome Acid Casualties channel. A short-but-sweet VPRO radio broadcast featuring some of the new tunes, plus some cool dips into the back catalogue. Luck on every finger!

Wanted to get in on the @mommyclan action! This is Hazydawn. She's autistic and epileptic, and too disabled to be a warrior, both because her seizures endanger her and because the more complex and physically demanding tasks of a warrior are impossible for her. She understands this, and has long since accepted it. She mostly likes to stay in camp. She can usually be found playing with the kits or in the medicine den for a check-up or getting a small wound disinfected. Sometimes she can be persuaded to walk around the territory, but she prefers to stick with what she knows. She's fascinated by the behavior of other cats and often sits around and just watches them.

i really really like this i hope you don't mind me giving a few more thoughts!

hollyleaf is defined by shame.

when she can't live up to the idealized version of herself she needs to find something to cover that up. she has trouble being a medicine cat, so she'll be a warrior (the fact she's so attracted to the position of medicine cat because of the esteem it holds is very npd of her as well, but i digress).

the warrior code is a concrete set of values to measure herself against. if she lives up to this, she's correct, she's good, she's perfect, she has nothing to be ashamed of.

finding out her existence violates the warrior code is crushing. she can't cope with this. the most important thing in the world is to make sure no one else finds out about what she sees as a failing on her part. but this doesn't get rid of the shame, because it's internal. what can she do except make sure the blame is shared? what can she do except try to remove the "source" of the problem?

but again, nothing gets rid of the shame. it's pervasive. in the end, isolating herself is basically the logical conclusion: remove everyone who could judge you.

this doesn't fix everything, though, because the one who judges her the harshest is herself.

have you considered npd hollyleaf whos so fixated on following the warrior code bc she thinks it'll ""redeem"" her?
