hadnt seen these shared on here yet so. first look in-game slay the spire 2 screenshots from this ign article, showing some new cards, some new Events and Shop ui, combat animations, enemies, and the new class Necrobinder (she pronouns)!

The best part of the StS 2 Reveal Trailer for me is the lineup shot

Ironclad and Silent are both clearly in battle-ready positions, prepared to fight, and meanwhile the new character is like

Okay so first things first

ITS HERE

SLAY THE SPIRE 2 IS HERE!

And now I talk about the trailer because I am SO excited for this and I want to speculate for once.

First off, it’s described as being a thousand years since the Spire last opened. Which combined with the redesign meant to me that these are not likely the same Ironclad and Silent as before, probably different people from the same clans.

Like, they look similar, but also quite different in certain ways. I’m not saying they CANT be the same characters, but I think it’s more likely we’re going to meet an Ironclad and Silent with sligkty more than tweaked decks and abilities.

My next question was “Where the Defect” because I love my busted robot friend and he doesn’t show up anywhere, but as @elesdecroisa pointed out you can see a Claw card in the Merchant’s Wares

So that brings me hope that Defect will return as well, perhaps changed in its own ways. After all, it’s been a thousand years, plenty of time to get fixed… or break a little more.

The other possibility is that that card has been given to another character, speaking of which

WHO ARE YOU?

Who is this person? Why are they so cunty? They have three things already, and that’s a giant blade, bones, and sass, and boy am I excited to see what they can do.

I know defect wasn't in the trailer but I'm manifesting orblet in the sequel, he's my favourite character by far, and one of his cards was depicted in the trailer so here's hoping 🤞

Leaning slightly towards the style of the trailer was fun too. It's not totally adherent to that style but I based the primary lighting colour, bloom and deep ink shadows on the animated shots of the trailer!

So in case you missed it, slay the spire 2 got announced and it has a gay ass fruity skeleton in it and the beheaded from dead cells is going to be in risk of rain 2

POST-TRAILER DROP STS2 THINKS

NEW ENGINE FUCK YEAH! Screw Unity!

"Expanded moddability" sounds very promising given how mod-friendly STS1 was.

1000 years in the future... this is an interesting detail. It'll be intriguing to see how the new Silent and Ironclad line up with their predecessors.

Also her disembodied giant left hand is named "Osty"? Oh, I love her already. :D

The new art style is already growing on me. It seems just a little more colorful and softer-edged than STS1, and I say that in an approving way. It makes for a nice contrast with things lurking around like that giant polyp.

So Slay the Spire is getting a sequel.

Some things I really hope we see from Slay The Spire 2 are more about the world and its lore (we only got crumbs in the first game but they were still pretty interesting) and maybe some actual interactions between the characters. I know they probably aren't gonna happen (the second especially) but the reveal trailer taking place in what looks like a port city and having a Team Lineup shot has me hopeful for both
