Sova/Reader - Lean On Me

Sova knew exhaustion when he saw it.

He himself had been in its grasp an innumerable amount of times, in between the seemingly endless recon missions and late-night paperworking he'd always be doing, so he knew the signs.

And, well... you weren't exactly trying to hide it from him, either.

You all but stumbled onto the drop-ship after an especially gruelling mission, limbs floppy and eyes shutting even as you shucked off your protective gear and checked yourself for wounds. You even yawned in reply to Phoenix as you walked over to your seat.

Your seat next to Sova.

And as he sat next to you, the gentle sway of the ship and the hum of its engines must've had a calming effect on you, because you'd fallen asleep right next to him.

Sova was an affectionate man. He gave out endless head pats and hugs and congratulations to his teammates, you especially. And maybe what he was about to do could be passed off as simple platonic affection, but deep down, he knew that wasn't the case.

He gently looped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you into him, your head dropping to lay on his chest, and he drew his legs closer to yours until your thighs were touching.

Sova held you gently, his breathing slowing to match yours.

It was peaceful, in a way. You had the cutest sleeping face to him, and he just couldn't stand seeing you all hunched over and uncomfortable.

Absentmindedly, he carded a hand through your hair. His distracted eyes missed the little smile that flickered across your face.

He held you like that all the way back to base.

Sova/Reader - Braid Me

He was completely relaxed, the book he’d been reading long discarded. Your fingers moved with deft precision, sectioning and intertwining his hair for him. He felt your fingers scratch his scalp and the back of his neck every so often.

This was heaven for Sova. You, the one he loves, sitting with him, gentle hands in his hair. He was almost purring with delight, eyes closed and mouth pulled into the most content smile.

Plaiting his hair was always pleasant; it was soft, he took good care of it, and it smelled vaguely of his shampoo when you nuzzled your face into it. He made the happiest little hums, too, mumbling sweet nothings in English and Russian as you worked.

“Thank you, moya lyubov,” he mumbled, admiring your finished braid, “you are too good to me.”

Him with Yours

When cuddling, Sova always seemed to have a hand in your hair. Scratching the little hairs at the base of your neck, twirling longer strands between his fingers or carding his hand through the whole of it, he was always touching it in some way.

He said he liked the smell, too. (If applicable, the two of you would probably end up using the same shampoo at some point.) often, he buries his face in it as well, nuzzling into you with a smile.

Since he’s quite tall, usually he cannot reach your forehead for kisses when standing, so sometimes he kisses the top of your head instead. He will often take that opportunity for more hair touching.

If your hair is long enough to braid, he will do yours too. If not, he would teach you so you could do his. Additionally for shorter haired people, he gives lots of affection head pats and hair ruffles!

as an archer I, I just wanna steal Sova’s bow. I would just like to request reader just suddenly flexing archery talent for Sova. Only if you want to of course!

Sova/Archer!Reader - HCs!

- I feel like he would love this.

- it just gives him more reasons to like you!!! You both have a skill that you enjoy

- to the actual reveal though, it would be during training

- he’d be practicing his aim most likely (not that he needs it, but he doesn’t want to become complacent y’know) when you rock up next to him like “hey. Can I try?”

- and usually, his answer would be a firm “no.” But you’re a special case, and he cares for you. So with a little smile, he hands his bow to you.

- and FLEXING ENSUES

- the various training targets and dummies are decimated with arrows, you even put a bit of flair in by closing your eyes for a few. Think a Merida from Disney’s Brave moment.

- needless to say, he is shocked, but if anything he likes you even more.

- “Where’d you learn to shoot like that?”

- You grinned, handing the bow back to him, “I have my ways.”

- the other agents would take notice. Phoenix and Yoru would tease Sova about it, Jett would start asking for her turn, it’d be a bit of a clusterfuck but that’s alright by Sova.

- after, he asked brim if it’s possible for you to get your own bow. He was happy to have a training partner, he said.

- really, it was to spend time with you, and share in a skill you both love. But he didn’t tell brim that ;)

I keep thinking about this so I had to share, what kind of person do you think Sova would be attracted to vs what kind of person would he need as a significant other?

This is an interesting one.

My personal headcannon for Sova’s sexuality is pansexual; he could be attracted to anyone. He finds a lot of people physically attractive, but it’s personality that seals the deal for him.

I think Sova would know what he needs in a significant other. I don’t think he’s someone like Yoru or Jett who crush fast. He knows what he wants from a partner, he knows his dealbreakers, his red and green flags.

Aesthetic attraction is something he feels, but true romantic attraction takes a while. He knows what he needs, and he does not mind waiting for that person.

When he finds that person, however, he loves hard. He is loyal to a fault, and even if the other person stops loving him or he loses them, he will always have a piece of his heart for them.

Now, what does he need in a significant other?

- Loyalty. He needs commitment from his partner. Cheating is not something he would ever dream of doing, and to have his partner do that to him would break his heart.

- Honestly. Sova does not lie, even to a point of bluntness. He needs that from his partner too. Strong communication builds strong relationships.

- Empathy. He is an empathetic man; he cares for others and will not tolerate unwarranted cruelty.

- A love for family. Sova is very family driven, and he knows that he wants kids one day. If you do not have the strongest connection with your family (a history of abuse, estrangement etc) his will gladly take you in.

- A love for nature. He loves animals and the outside, and he will often go on walks and hikes just to be in it. If his partner dislikes the outside and refuses to interact with it, he would not get along with them well. (If his partner has a disability or condition meaning going outside can be hard for them, that’s a different case from outright rejecting it.)

- The ability to show love. Sova is a man who gives out affection often and genuinely, and a partner that cannot give and accept that would not mesh well with him.

- Unfortunately, Sova is a man who has a habit of hiding some of his more negative emotions. A partner that could bring those out of him and allow him full emotional vulnerability is one he would keep forever.

Important stuff aside, let’s get on to the physical stuff he’s attracted too!

- Tummies. He loves stomachs. Chubby or flat or toned, all great to him. He loves kissing right above the belly button <333

- Hair! As I have mentioned so many times before he loves hair, hair touching is how he shows his love. People who take good care of their hair are very nice to him

- Laughs and smiles… he loves laughs, especially the unique, kinda goofy loud ones. They make him feel all fuzzy and happy and make him want to laugh too!!

- Hands. Holding them. Small ones. Ones with callouses. Smooth hands. Hands. Good.

- He’s a thigh man. A nice pair o thighs really get him ;)) they are perfect shape for grabbing and holding to support the leg!!!

not sure if you’ve done something like this before, but do you have any specific headcanons about sova’s family? like how many siblings he has, what it was like growing up with them, etc.

this is a bit tricky because there is no canon info about Sova’s whole family, meaning this could change once we get more lore (riot please). But as of 6/10/22, this is how I see his family :)

Sova’s Family HCs!

- he comes from a big family. Sova is one child of seven, and they lived in the same house as his mother, father, and his babushka and dedushka from his father’s side.

- Sova is the third-eldest. here is the child age arrangement, oldest to youngest; Oldest Brother, Oldest Sister, Sova, Younger Sister, Other Younger Sister, Other Other Younger Sister, Youngest Brother.

- (I will not be naming them, but I will be abbreviating them from their ages, e.g. OB, OOYS, YB)

- His various aunts and uncles also assisted in raising him and his siblings as he grew up.

- OB and OS weren’t in double digits of age when Sova was born, and the trio were quite close. OB had a habit of affectionately bullying Sova, which continued into adulthood. He doesn’t mind.

- The three younger girls are triplets! By the time they were born, OB and OS were in their late teens (16-18) and weren’t around as much to help with the triplets, so that fell on ~13 y/o Sova!

- He loves his little sisters to death. He cares so much about them, the guy learnt to braid hair just for them!

- The youngest brother was born when Sova was around 16, and OB and OS had left home for school and work things, so Sova was the oldest child at home.

- His mother and father both worked, his mother as a nurse and his father a labourer. His dad is also a war vet, and so is his deda.

- Most of the men in his family participated in seasonal hunting trips, and when Sova was old enough he joined in too. That’s when his talent for a bow and arrow became known.

- He lived in a village, one big enough to have its own school and hospital but small enough that most people knew one another.

- He was pretty reserved as a kid, keeping to himself. He was very introverted, only really showing his personality around his family.

- As he got older, he opened up a lot more. He never lost the introversion but he became more confident, becoming the happy, loving sweet owl boy we know today!
