Creative New York #11
“I was mostly in love, and in love in a way that I’ve never been again with New York, when I was much younger, the first time I arrived here, and I was trying to be a dancer. There was a kind of love for the city that has developed now into maybe a much more mature marriage, with all its boredom and all its beauties as well.”
– Valeria Luiselli, author of Story of My Teeth. MoMA's PopRally spoke with Valeria about her nomadic upbringing, living in Harlem, and the pleasures of a good walk. Read the full interview at mo.ma/creativenewyork

What makes you #Apye? "For the love of colour" we are sharing how art, color, life makes a difference in our lives. #Repost @themuseumofmodernart ・・・ “A lot of my paintings have sentimental value. I especially tend to remember ones that I make during tougher times. I still wonder where they are and who might be looking at them — almost like they have their own life. Especially when I started out, I had a hard time letting go. I remember one work in particular that mapped out a solid five years of my life. At the time I didn’t want to sell, but I also had to get away from it. I was lucky someone wanted it. Now I try and do my best to keep things lighter and just have fun. My favorite is when I do a work thinking of someone in particular, and they end up buying it, or seeing it. It’s really nice when that happens. I remember a print I made about my friend moving to L.A. He ended up buying one, not knowing it was kind of about him.”—Andrew Kuo For more on Andrew’s story follow #CreativeNewYork and @earlboykins in the coming days, and visit the link in our profile for the whole #PopRally Q&A.
