Cambiamento climatico e Sostenibilità in Cantina!

A researcher who lost her job at a thinktank after tweeting that transgender women could not change their biological sex has won her claim that she was unfairly discriminated against because of her gender-critical beliefs.
Maya Forstater suffered direct discrimination when the Centre for Global Development (CGD), where she was a visiting fellow, did not renew her contract or fellowship, an employment tribunal found on Wednesday.
The tribunal also ruled that Forstater, the executive director of Sex Matters, suffered victimisation with respect to the removal of her profile from CGD’s website.
Its decision comes after Forstater successfully brought a test case to establish that gender-critical views are a protected philosophical belief under the Equality Act. She initially lost that case at an employment tribunal in 2019 but won a landmark decision on appeal last year, with the judge stressing that while gender-critical views might be “profoundly offensive and even distressing to many others … they are beliefs that are and must be tolerated in a pluralist society”.
The case was then sent back to the tribunal to decide whether Forstater’s claim had been proved on the facts. It upheld two complaints of direct discrimination and one of victimisation. Two other complaints of direct discrimination and one of victimisation were unsuccessful.
The judgment stated: “Absent an explanation from the respondents, the facts are such that the tribunal could properly conclude that the tweets were a substantial part of the reason why Ms Forstater was not offered employment; and the respondent’s evidence, far from proving the contrary, supports the finding that they were …
“We reminded ourselves that it would be an error to treat a mere statement of Ms Forstater’s protected belief as inherently unreasonable or inappropriate.”
The tribunal examined a number of tweets by Forstater, including tweets in which she drew an analogy between self-identifying trans women and Rachel Dolezal, a white American woman who misrepresented herself as black, and another in which she said: “A man’s internal feeling that he is a woman has no basis in material reality.” It concluded that the tweets asserted her gender-critical beliefs.
It said the same of one that described self-identification as a woman as “a feeling in their head”, rejecting the suggestion that it equated self-identification with mental illness.
The tribunal also considered tweets in which Forstater said she was surprised people could say they believed that males could be women, and that they are “tying themselves in knots”.
It said they were “fairly mild examples” of mockery, adding: “Mocking or satirising the opposing view is part of the common currency of debate.”
The three-member panel, led by the employment judge Andrew Glennie, said a description of a Credit Suisse executive, Pips Bunce, who identified as a woman for part of the week, as a “part-time cross dresser” could have been put in “more moderate terms”.
But two of the three panel members said it “did not amount to an objectionable or inappropriate manifestation of Ms Forstater’s belief, given the context of a debate on a matter of public interest; the fact that Pips Bunce had put themself forward in public as a person who is gender fluid and who dresses sometimes as a woman and sometimes as a man”.
Responding to the decision, Forstater said: “My case matters for everyone who believes in the importance of truth and free speech. We are all free to believe whatever we wish. What we are not free to do is compel others to believe the same thing, to silence those who disagree with us or to force others to deny reality.”
She also thanked JK Rowling for standing by her. The Harry Potter author tweeted: “Every woman who’s been harassed, silenced, bullied or lost employment because of her gender critical beliefs is freer and safer today, thanks to the warrior that is @MForstater.”
Stonewall, the LGBTQ+ campaign group, said: “Today’s judgment … does not change the reality of trans people’s workplace protection. No one has the right to discriminate against, or harass, trans people simply because they disagree with their existence and participation in society.”
Amanda Glassman, chief executive of CGD, said: “We are reviewing today’s judgment, which found in favour of Ms Forstater on some claims, and dismissed others. CGD’s primary aim has always been to uphold our values and maintain a workplace and an environment that is welcoming, safe, and inclusive to all, including trans people.”
Remedies will be determined at a later date.

Switzerland Planning To Retire F-5s In 2027
F-5
Credit: Tony Osborne/Aviation Week
Swiss commanders have outlined plans to retire the Northrop F-5 Tiger combat aircraft in 2027, bringing to an end its famous international aerobatic team, the Patrouille Suisse.
As the Swiss Air Force prepares for the arrival of the first Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter in 2028, commanders have concluded that the service has “neither the need, personnel, finances or infrastructure,” to keep the F-5 Tiger fleet in operation during the transition to the F-35, service chiefs declared on March 15.
But the service’s F/A-18 Hornet fleet will continue to operate until 2030 once the F-35 has been introduced.
Commanders have already concluded that the Tigers cannot be used for air policing because of their outdated sensors and armaments. So the 25-strong fleet has been relegated to secondary duties, including target towing, training and aerobatic displays. Tiger operations, officials say, are currently relieving the F/A-18 Hornet fleet of such secondary tasks, extending Hornet life.
The F-5’s retirement will bring an end to the Patrouille Suisse aerobatic team, which has flown the F-5 since 1994, replacing Hawker Hunters.
Officials say they still want to retain a flight demonstration team “to demonstrate the work, capabilities and importance of the Air Force to a wide audience.” But the most sensible solution is to make the existing Swiss Air Force PC-7 display team—flying the Pilatus PC-7 turboprop trainer—the flagship aerobatic team for the service.
Maintaining the Patrouille Suisse’s operation of the F-5 beyond 2027 would demand investments to be made in ejection seats, aircraft avionics and navigation. At least 12 aircraft would need to be kept operational—10 single-seat and two twin-seat aircraft. Officials say such an investment would cost around 9 million Swiss francs ($10.2 million).
The plans will now be discussed with Security Policy Committees in the Swiss Parliament.
The pensioning off of the Patrouille Suisse could mark the beginning of the end for some of Europe’s best-known aerobatic teams, which are reliant on increasingly older aircraft. The Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows fly Hawks that are around 50 years old—the team is the last operator of the BAE Systems T1 model Hawk in the UK. Spain’s Patrulla Aguila team continues to fly the CASA C-101 Aviojet even though the type has been withdrawn from the training role. Italy had planned to introduce Leonardo’s M345 as the mount for the Frecce Tricolori that flies the Aermacchi MB339, but the transition has yet to take place due to the delayed introduction of the M345 into Italian service.
Based in London, Tony covers European defense programs. Prior to joining Aviation Week in November 2012, Tony was at Shephard Media Group where he was deputy editor for Rotorhub and Defence Helicopter magazines.

Katar
QIA aynı zamanda kendi ülkesindeki birçok kuruluşun doğrudan sahibi ya da ortağı konumunda bulunuyor.
Otorite, Katar'ın başkenti Doha'daki Hamad Uluslararası Havalimanı, Katar Havayolları, Katar borsası, Katar Ulusal Bankası S.A.Q ve telekom operatörü Ooredoo QSC'de en büyük yatırımcı olarak dikkati çekiyor.
Avrupa
LSE, son olarak New York merkezli finansal piyasa verileri sağlayıcısı Refinitiv’i 27 milyar dolara satın almıştı.
Ve Manchester City..
Rusya
QIA, Rusya’nın en büyük petrol üreticisi “Rosneft”in yüzde 18,93 hissesini 11 milyar dolara satın alırken, ülkenin üçüncü büyük havalimanı olan St. Petersburg Havalimanı'na da 2018 yılında yaklaşık yüzde 25’lik hissesini alarak ortak oldu.
ABD
New York ve Los Angeles'ta özellikle ofis olmak üzere birçok gayrimenkule yatırım yaparken, Empire State Building'in sahibi Empire State Realty Trust Inc.'in yaklaşık yüzde 10'unu satın aldı.

I want to go into IB or corporate finance, so you know which specific companies or departments let you go abroad for business trips more?
In those cases it would be quite easy; look for M&A roles within IB/Corporate Finance that regularly work on international M&A opportunities (aka Global M&A), especially those in research.
As far as companies, any of the major banks would have these teams:
Goldman Sachs
Morgan Stanley
JPMorgan Chase
BofA Securities
Barclays Investment Bank
Citigroup
Deutsche Bank
Credit Suisse Group
Also a lot of the major consulting firms work on international M&A projects too:
McKinsey & Company
Boston Consulting Group
Bain & Company
Accenture
Deloitte
PwC
EY
KPMG
The major challenge you're going to have is that a lot of these companies' departments are organized by industry opposed to geographic region, so if you want to improve your odds, even more then I would probably look at manufacturing M&A, since they regularly work with companies that operations in Asia. Once you move into manager+ is when you start getting more freedom into choosing your projects.
