"SUSPECTS ARE RELEASED," Montreal Gazette. June 1, 1933. Page 4. ---- Youths Believed to Be Wandering Montreal Boys ---- (Special to The Gazette.) St. Jerome, May 31. - Two suspicious youths found loitering near the local railway station at five o'clock last night, and at first believed to be the two bandits who are being sought in connection with the St. Jovite bank hold-up, were arrested and taken to the local police station by Chief R. Latour. They were questioned and spoke little English, and the police stated, refused to give much information about themselves. Chief Latour communicated with the provincial police and Detective Merineau arrived here and questioned them.

This morning at 10.30 orders were received from the provincial police by Chief Latour to release the pair. The descriptions of the lads did not correspond with that of the two gunmen. When arrested the men were exhausted and said that they had come from Mont Laurier and were on their way to Montreal. The pair were first seen by M. Lapointe who called the police. They were between 19 and 23 years of age.

The Gazette learned that, according to the description, the two men, arrested and later released in St. Jerome, Que., when they were at first thought to be the two St. Jovite bank bandits, are believed to be Roger Laurin, 16 years of age, of 4586 Fabre street, and Jean Paul Gauvin, 18 years of age, of 5820 Second avenue, Rosemount, who disappeared from their homes on Monday last.

Upon learning that the two had been arrested and finding that the description corresponded with that of her missing son, Mrs. Laurin telephoned Chief Latour and asked him to detain them until she went for them yesterday morning. By the time that the call reached the police of St. Jerome the two youths had already been released.

Last night Mrs. Laurin left Montreal in an automobile in search of the pair. She hoped to pick them up somewhere along the highway between Montreal and St. Jerome.

When u think about it, Reid would be a terrifying unsub. Especially season 3+ Reid. At that point, he would know even more. And he would know hands-on experience about the BAU. Triggers, strengths, specialties, etc. he would know how to make them profile him in the opposite way that he acts. He could trick them.

just saw someone tag one of my posts about how abusive people need to be allowed to change, even if you never forgive them, with something like "it's hard to differentiate between abusive and ultimately human, and downright criminal."

and, i mean this in the nicest way possible, it's hard to differentiate that because there is no difference.

criminals are human. it does no good to pretend they aren't. the ones you're probably talking about, the rapists and serial killers, have certainly done heinous things, and we need to address that, but crucially, they are still people. human beings who made awful, unconscionable choices, that you or anyone around you *could also choose to make*. to declare otherwise is to shield perpetrators that haven't been found out yet.

and i do believe that in an ideal world, people who have done heinous things would have the opportunity to build a new life where they can make society better instead of worse. (that's a bit pie-in-the-sky, but we can still strive to be closer to that than we currently are, even if we know it's ultimately impossible to actually reach it)

Page 14. --- Two Men Are Arrested at London as Result of Incident --- (Canadian Press Despatch) LONDON, Ont., May 15 - Hearing a woman's screams from a parked automobile today, resulted in the arrest of John Leigh, and Maitland Hayes, both of London, by P. C. Smith, as the officer was questioning the two men at the scene, one made a dash for liberty but was captured. In the meantime the woman made good her escape and has not yet been identified. The other man tried in vain to start the motor of the car but was captured before it would start.

Both men were remanded to jail without bail when they appeared in city police court today. They are being held on a nominal charge of vagrancy. The woman's hat and purse were found in the car.

Sidenote, I think it would be Very funny if Peter’s civilian identity is a private eye but everyone knows about The Spider always helping him. Like, "yeah Im a private eye and so is that vigilante guy and yes he for some reason only gives ME his leads but we are totally not the same person"
