Hello Critters! 

 This tumblr is new. It was created to foster more interaction between CR artists (and others).

Tumblr is great for sharing art, but unfortunately not a lot of people comment on the art they like or reblog. You can get hundreds of notes on a art piece but perhaps only one “Thats cool” comment. This is not very helpful for artists that are actually looking for real feedback. This tumblr is an effort to change that.

My hope is to create a community of critter artists that will leave comments and critique each other’s work and help each other with positive feedback and encouragement!

How does it work? First of all, this tumblr will only reblog art from artists that are actively looking for comments and/or critique. Therefore:

1) Tag your CR art posts with #artcritters (within the first 5 tags!) (Note: This even works retroactively: retag old art posts if you want them reblogged, they will now appear in the tag)

2) This tumblr will reblog any CR art from the main tag

3) Other artists (or any other interested parties) that follow the ArtCritters tumblr will see that post and are encouraged to leave comments on that art piece.

How do you comment?

Critters can comment or critique artwork by either:

1) Replying to a reblogged post on their dashboard if they are following the ArtCritters Tumblr

2) Reblogging the artwork and adding their comments in either the tags or main body text of the reblogged post.

3) Leaving a comment on the ArtCritters Tumblr by using the Disqus comment section below each reblogged post.

What should my comments look like?

There are no guidelines regarding length/detail of critique. Leaving any type of feedback is usually a huge improvement over no feedback at all. A short but sweet one sentence encouragement, or a paragraph filled with detailed pointers; any type of comment is encouraged!

In general positive feedback is recommended. Point out both the things that do and do not work. Do not be unnecessarily rude or overly negative (although I do not think that will be a problem with Critters!)
