The first 5 minutes of episode one are so good to me because this is who they have been for the past 30 years. It's always been Charles shoving Edwin out of danger. It's always been Edwin to be the one to mirror hop and take them back home. They're synchronized in every movement they make, they're two parts of one whole.

There is so much growth and development even within the first episode that it's easy to forget this is who they have always been, and after everything that's happened, it's scary to admit that everything has changed.

Something about how Niko asks “The bird cries? Is it sad?” and it turns out the bird that cries is Monty, having been torn apart and now seeing Edwin and Charles about to be eaten with nothing he can do about it anymore. Something about how Monty didn’t ask to be human with all these feelings and he isn’t anymore but still - the bird is sad.
