These Chic, Cruelty-Free Indie Brands Made A Splash On The Red Carpet

With indie beauty brands blowing up on Etsy and online boutiques, it’s no surprise that top celebrity stylists have turned to some of these hot new brands to prep their high-profile clients. Small beauty brands even made an appearance at this year’s Golden Globes and Oscars. Below are three luxe indie brands (with cruelty-free cred!) that were featured in some of the gorgeous looks on the red carpet.

Vernon Francois

Used to style Ruth Negga’s elegant updo, Vernon Francois products were specially formulated for curly, textured, kinky, and damaged hair. The oils used in Vernon Francois products are fairly sourced from local farmers in Africa. They’re also sustainably and organically harvested. All Vernon Francois products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, gluten, DEA, and dyes.

Ruth is ravishing in these ruby hues.

When it comes to styling a super-short cut like Negga’s, Francois himself says it’s all about getting creative: “Leading up to the Oscars, her hair was straighter rather than curly, so I manipulated the curl with accessories,” he told Us Magazine. “As her hair has grown, we’ve had fun experimenting with new looks and sometimes making it look shorter than it was. It evolves every time!”

Virtue Labs

Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Biel owe their glossy ’dos to the Raleigh-based hair care brand Virtue Labs. The brand’s claim to fame is their unique keratin, Alpha Keratin 60ku. Unlike most keratin ingredients, this particular keratin is not derived from animal byproducts but rather from human hair (so still technically animal in origin but not unsuspecting-furry-friend in origin). Virtue labs products are free of sulfates, parabens, colors, and dyes.

No one rocks yellow like Reese.

When it comes to creating a dramatic side part, stylist to Witherspoon and Biel, Adir Abergel advises, “Use your eyebrow as the mark. The part should start either at the highest arch of your brow or right at the end of your eyebrow for a more dramatic effect.”

🌸 Review Time 🌸. 🌿 I am in love with this Rescue Balm by @beautyintherawllc 🌿. 🌿 I love that it’s a “Woman Owned”Indie Beauty Brand! All products are Vegan & Cruelty-Free! All of the skincare is safe for All skin types & effective even on sensitive skin. The ingredients come from Raw sources; virgin, wild crafted & organic. EWG score (1). 🌿 My Perfect Multipurpose Healing Balm: I have been using this Rescue Balm for the past few weeks, and pretty sure it’s going to last well into winter! I would take this with me when I travel in place of my “regular” moisturizer, body lotion, body oil, hand cream, Vaseline, ointments, lip balm, cuticle oil/cream, face cream, facial oil, and foot cream/balm! This Rescue Balm can be used in place of all of those I mentioned, and have tried it on all of those places. It’s a Great overnight mask/moisturizer. The result-driven line that can’t be ignored. . . Here is where we get to raise our hands in the air for stay-at-home moms with amazing ideas and creations. Talk about a fist pump to the air! I love that this line is clean, fragrance free. and cruelty-free! . . The jelly cleanser is what I use at night after a oil based cleanse. While this brand is known for not thinking a double cleanse is necessary, our readers know by now that we do love a double cleanse. This cleanser is not necessary for the morning and I found when I did use it in the morning and night it did leave my skin on the drier side. I use the Indie Lee cleanser in the morning. Due to linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and marula oil it would be best to use up within 12 months. . . The virgin facial oil will be, due to its high oleum acid content, would be amazing for drier skin types. It works best on top of and/or mixed in with your cream. If you are acne prone it would be best to avoid as it can clog pores and trigger an unwanted breakout. In buying this I would stick with the smaller size as I have yet to be victorious in using up the full size prior to expiration. I tend to rotate this into my routine during the drier and colder months here in Colorado during my nighttime routine to keep my skin hydrated and supple. . . Let’s get into my two main faves! . . The F-Balm and Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. I mix these two together for the ultimate sleep mask. I do this three times each week to keep my skin hydrated, fresh, and glowing. Those with very sensitive skin might not be able to handle with Framboos. I have sensitive skin, and I found using it on its own to be too much. Cien Nature è una linea di cosmesi reperibile al Lidl che prima veniva posta sugli scaffali solo occasionalmente: a partire da qualche mese invece è diventata una linea fissa, trasformandosi da un miraggio in qualcosa di accessibile a tutti.

Qui ha piovuto per giorni, non c’è stato proprio sole: ho già installato delle lucine a carica solare nel mio giardino in occasione del mese di Natale e negli ultimi giorni non sono mai riuscite a caricarsi. Buongiorno e buon inizio di settimana, oggi finalmente c'è il sole! Scartiamo il quarto pacchetto dell'Avvento di @vanityspaceblog in collaborazione con l'e_shop @bioalchemillait . Ieri dal totopacco sul gruppo FB è risultato che stavamo sperando tutte in un tonico, e questo flaconcino incartato senza scatola lo sembrava a tutti gli effetti. Invece ci siamo ritrovati davanti, questa mattina, a uno spray fissativo per capelli, una lacca ecobio praticamente, alla rosa, del brand italiano @maternatura.it , che ringrazio. ❤️ Questo spray è a base di estratto di rosa damascena, olio di semi di lino e olio di mandorle dolci, certificato AIAB, testato al nickel e VeganOK. La fragranza è molto dolce e delicata. Andrà vaporizzato sui capelli umidi prima di asciugatura e messa in piega. Ottimo, visto che tra qualche giorno cambierò il taglio dei miei capelli……..   Allora. L’argomento di oggi è una piccola review, a proposito di due creme particolari con cui mi sto trovando abbastanza bene: la Crema viso da giorno e la sua variante da notte al Melograno della Cien Nature.

Come dicevo nell’introduzione, mesi fa, la linea Cien Nature nei Lidl veniva venduta saltuariamente, di solito a primavera inoltrata, e le scorte venivano terminate nel giro di poche ore il primo giorno dell’offerta.

Evidentemente qualcuno l’avrà reclamato esplicitamente, avranno organizzato una raccolta firme, o, più semplicemente, i piani alti si saranno resi conto che era qualcosa di molto richiesto: la Cien Nature è stata impostata come linea fissa, quindi al giorno d’oggi praticamente tutti possiamo pensare di poter acquistare qualcosa senza svegliarci la mattina e metterci a correre più veloci del leone e della gazzella.

  Io vi avevo già parlato quasi due anni fa dei prodotti Cien Nature che ero riuscita a comprare. Vi linko l’articolo QUI: vi consiglio di andarlo a leggere poiché mi sono accorta che è uno degli articoli del blog più letti.

Oggi invece vi esporrò le mie opinioni su due prodotti che ancora non vi avevo mai presentato. Prego.

Nello slideshow qui sopra, se ci avete già fatto caso, ci sono anche le immagini delle confezioni con le liste di ingredienti. Iniziamo. Preannuncio che i prezzi sono ridottissimi: nemmeno 3€ per confezione, se non erro.

  Stiamo parlando di due tubetti da 50ml di crema per la pelle del viso destinata alle pelli mature, con obiettivo anti-ageing, da applicare su pelle detersa, pulita, asciutta e massaggiata fino a raggiungere anche collo e decolleté. Certificate Natrue, ovvero una certificazione di cui vi avevo già spiegato abbastanza e che mi era piaciuta molto, infatti ho voglia di riportarvi quel che avevo scritto anche nella vecchia review.

Natrue approva diversi tipi di sostanze, completamente in linea con la mia personale filosofia.

“Le sostanze natural-identiche possono essere usate soltanto quando non è possibile ottenerle dalla natura, attraverso opportuni processi tecnici.”.

“Le sostanze natural-simili hanno una giustificazione soltanto quando la loro funzione non può essere svolta usando sostanze naturali. Ingredienti natural-simili sono sempre ottenuti da sostanze naturali. L’olio minerale, tuttavia non è ammesso come ingrediente [per chi non lo sapesse parliamo di petrolati, ndr.]. Per la loro produzione si dovrebbero impiegare soltanto processi che riproducono meccanismi fisiologici (per esempio la formazione di gliceridi nella digestione dei grassi). Il numero dei passaggi chimici necessari alla trasformazione dovrebbe essere il più basso possibile.”.

Crema viso da giorno al melograno. Innanzitutto la confezione di cartone riporta la scritta Face Cream Pomegranate, che appunto significa Crema Viso al melograno. O, qualcuno dice anche, melagrana. La crema da giorno ha confezione e tubetto verde chiaro. Al contrario di quanto si possa pensare, l’estratto di melograno è relativamente basso nell’inci. Innanzitutto l’ingrediente base è l’olio di semi di girasole, cui seguono in ordine decrescente di quantità: glicerina, olio di avocado, olio di MELOGRANO, olio di jojoba, olio di noci del babassu (qualitativamente simile all’olio di cocco). Ho idea che l’odore di questa crema sia leggermente più aspro rispetto all’altra. Gli odori sono entrambi molto dolci e delicati, persistenti sulla pelle per qualche ora (riferito dal fidanzato).

Crema viso da notte al melograno. Questa confezione si distingue dall’altra per essere blu piuttosto che verde. Idem il tubetto, e riporta ovviamente il simbolo del frutto e tutte le stesse diciture della sua alternativa da giorno. Anche in questo caso l’olio chiave è quello di semi di girasole, cui si aggiungono altri oli in quest’ordine: noci del babassu, avocado, jojoba, melograno, burro di karité. Come dicevo, gli odori sono molto simili tra loro, anche se la crema notte è leggermente più dolce.

  Non ho bisogno di creare due review diverse: ho trovato queste due creme molto simili. Addirittura prima di scrivere l’articolo per cercare di trovare delle differenze ho diviso idealmente il mio viso in due parti, destra e sinistra, e ho applicato una variante per parte (Esempio: da giorno a sinistra, da notte a destra). Senza dubbio la crema destinata alla notte è più corposa: lo notiamo già dall’inci. La crema notte ha la glicerina altissima, addirittura dopo l’acqua, e poi una serie di oli in quantità nettamente maggiore rispetto alla crema viso.

La fragranza, come dicevo, è molto delicata, assolutamente non fastidiosa: una volta applicata e assorbita ce ne dimentichiamo tranquillamente. Le cremine fanno una leggerissima scia bianca che però si assorbe molto facilmente con un massaggio delicato, nemmeno troppo duraturo. E la pelle resta morbida e vellutata tutto il giorno.

La texture è molto leggera ma allo stesso tempo coprente, non lascia assolutamente la pelle oleosa, anzi, la mia pelle mista con zone critiche secche che gli anni passati si desquamava e arrossava, quest’anno, da quando ho iniziato a usare queste creme, è guarita e non si è screpolata PER NULLA. Io sono stupefatta. Non mi aspettavo una cosa del genere da delle cremine così “”””povere””””. Ciò per dire che forse dovremmo dare un secondo sguardo alle priorità quando preferiamo acquistare prodotti di brand stra-costosissimi, quando il discount sotto casa ci propone roba simile…

  … COMUNQUE, tutto quello che dico vale per me, che ho 23 anni, pelle mista, la definisco sensibile perché si arrossa facilmente e secca perché necessita di idratazione in alcune zone particolari. Non ho problemi di rughe (per ora), di occhiaie scure, di acne e cose varie. INDI PER CUI mi sento di consigliare questi prodotti alle ragazze più giovani (nonostante siano indirizzate alle pelli mature), o comunque per il periodo estivo, quando non dobbiamo esporci al sole. Dico questo perché, secondo me, una pelle matura merita un trattamento mirato, con ingredienti più potenti che devono contrastare diverse problematiche che incombono in maniera quasi irreversibile, promessa che alcuni olietti non possono mantenere.

In sintesi, con queste due creme ho affrontato l’estate e l’autunno, con tanto di gelo delle ultime settimane, e non ho avuto necessità di aggiungere sieri et similia, e mi sono trovata molto bene. Probabilmente continuerò a comprarle.

  Tempo fa, se vi ricordate, avevo usato la versione di crema viso della Cien Nature alla rosa, con il target delle pelli giovani. Quella crema era troppo leggera per me e, sicuramente, molto più leggera e acquosa rispetto a queste al melograno. Fine. ❤
