SEA'S COMMUNITY COMPENDIUM UPDATE

We have a massive one today! Huge thanks to a close friend of mine who sent me every single bookmark of xiv resources she had. 💖

Additionally, a good handful of these resources were sourced from a list originally created by @rinhkitty, which you can find here. I have tried to include the more recent/active of the lot, so it's not a one-for-one. Thank them for a lot of the large scale resources you'll find below! ✨

As of 04/12, I have added the following resources (in no particular order) to Sea's Community Compendium for FFXIV Creatives:

LARGE SCALE

GARLAND TOOLS — Contains XIV resources such as Garland Data, everything database, crafting lists and equipment calculators; Garland Bell, gathering timers, collectable resources and hunt windows; and FFXIV Fisher, daily fishing windows, bait paths and catch checklist. Maintained by Clorifex Ezalor of Zalera.

TEAMCRAFT — Create crafting lists and collaborate with others, set gathering alarms, simulate crafting rotations, and more!

CAT BECAME HUNGRY - FFXIV ANGLER — Contains everything and anything to know about fishing including specific fish guides, location, baits, aquarium fish and more!

FFXIV - CRAFTING AS A SERVICE — Crafting information and planning for FFXIV!

FFXIV GARDENING — The FFXIV Gardening Database is a collection of everything related to gardening in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It was created to organize and visualize the results obtained from crossbreeding.

SIGHTSEEING LOG HELPER — This tool will help those trying to complete their pesky Sightseeing Log by letting them know upcoming weather patterns for each zone!

EUREKA TRACKER — For everything and anything to do with Eureka mobs, tracking and weather patterns.

FFLOGOS — for tracking of items/actions related to Eureka.

FFXIVSQUADRON — A comprehensive tool that helps you assess the success rate of various squadron missions.

FFXIV CHOCOBO COLOUR CALCULATOR — Will calculate what chocobo feed you will need to get from your current colour to your desired colour. *rng not included.

FFXIV HOUSING — A site specialising in the documentation of all housing items available in game.

OLD TUMBLR LAYOUT BY PIXIEL — While not XIV specific I know a lot of people aren't fans of the new Tumblr layout, so this is a fix that will revert it to an as close as possible approximation of the new one. I won't tag the creator as I don't think they're in the xiv community, but it's run by @/pixiel!

HOW TO CURSE LIKE AN ISHGARDIAN — Do you want to make the church blush? Do you want to incur the wrath of Halone? @stars-and-clouds has compiled a list of appropriate curses/swear words for you!

FINAL FANTASY XIV SIDEQUEST GUIDE - HEAVENSWARD EDITION — maintained by @chatty-moogle, this guide explores interesting sidequests in Heavensward that will give you more information about the lore, titbits about locals and other interesting information!

TRUST BANNERS FOR XIV — If you have ever wondered how people mimic the Trust banners used in XIV, look no further! @locke-rinannis has a template for you.

MAKING USE OF RECOMMENDATIONS — created by @autumnslance, this guide will help you make your recommendations tab useful rather than annoying.

TYPHON GATE RESEARCH — Created by @mcstronghuge, these are the statistically best places for your character to stand for the Typhon Gate!

Added some additional clarification around large-scale discords/spaces; in particular: Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game. Also includes well-known tools/resources that are utilised by large groups of people and assist in gameplay elements.

Added a quick-jump menu to the bottom of each of the table of contents menus to assist in navigation.

This is Crystal Barrier (1987), a module whose attempt at cleverness is admirable, but ultimately a failed experiment. Boris Vallejo on the cover again (a pretty good one, at that). Interior art by Todd Hamilton and Jeff Bush. I don’t want to say it is bad, because it is not, but it is definitely somewhat unconventional. It also recycles at least one interior piece from War of Darkness.

OK, plot. This links in to the civil war in the Dragonlands as laid out in the Dragons Role Aids sourcebook. Ostensibly, the players are looking to destroy a drug that the bad dragons are using against the good dragons. However, in doing so, they encounter the titular barrier and fall through it into another dimension where a Necromancer is fomenting the civil war by having captured the soul of a dragon lord. This feels like an inside-out Dragonlance already, but it gets even moreso: there is some light time travel involved and Fistandantilus-like, the big twist at the end is that the Necromancer is a future version of a player character’s mage. I like this in theory, but it all happens so fast it feels similar to when a show gets canceled and they try to wrap up another season of story in the finale (actually, thinking some more, it reminds me of how Millennium got a weak send-off after its cancelation as just another episode of The X-Files). It doesn’t satisfy. Also, what the heck happens if the mage dies on the way? And wouldn’t the Necromancer be worried about that?

The module is interesting in the way it applies different rules to the world beyond the crystal barrier, in a way that I think predates the way different planes work in Manual of the Planes, which came out around the same time. The encounters there tend to rely on large numbers of monsters, though, which is a drag.

Once a humble coffee shop nestled in the heart of a great free company, The Fireside was the go-to place for members of Firelight Trading Company looking for a bite to eat after a long mission. Realising its potential as both a meeting place and a means of capital, its proprietor expanded the business throughout the various city-states of Eorzea until The Fireside became synonymous with coffee, company and great food; sourly needed after the anguish of The Final Days. Now, patrons old and new can gather to enjoy the hospitality and cosy atmosphere these avenues provide. Welcome to The Fireside! This establishment was made to focus on the creation and fostering of late-night/oceanic roleplay. Though physically located in Balmung/Crystal's Shirogane, the Fireside's expansion into almost all the city-states creates a space where your character can walk in from almost anywhere, and our focus on a coffee-shop with a laid-back atmosphere encourages off-the-cuff, casual roleplay that can turn into more. The Fireside will be re-opening for events shortly after Dawntrail's release. The staff are going to take some time to get through the MSQ and give everyone else a chance to play the expansion for a little bit before we begin again, but we're making a come back! Please look forward to it!

Until then, as always, the cafe is open to the public 24/7 for both your /gpose and roleplay hobbies! However, during off hours the café will not currently be staffed. Please feel free to NPC any baristas or waiters you might need for your Roleplay in the mean time.

Hey, folks. Cerebos: The Crystal City and Costume Fairy Adventures are 50% off for itch.io's Creator Day Sale. The preceding link leads to a bundle containing everything that's on sale, but you can also get the same discount on each item individually by clicking through to it.

Cerebos is a surrealist travelogue game written by Zach Welhouse (and edited by me) about a group of amnesiac travellers riding a train to the titular Crystal City, with plenty of strange stops along the way.

Costume Fairy Adventures, meanwhile, is one of the earliest games I worked on from back in 2013; it's about, well, fairies. In costumes. Having adventures. (Look, I freely admit it's not a creative title.)

If you've ever been terribly curious to check out either one, now's your chance. All of my smaller games (Radical Catgirl Anarchy, Olaf Hits the Dragon with his Sword, Jellyfish Felonies, Sinister Hovering Orb, and To Serve) are already pay-what-you-want, so there's no sense putting them on sale, but they are included in the "100% of all sales go to the creator" thing that's running today, so if you just happened to pay what you want today in particular, that sure would be convenient!

(singed-feather) A slightly dishevelled woman wobbles into the tea shop. Her white hair wet went and slick with blood, and her normally proper attire was tattered and bloody too.

But most noticeably of all, she didn't appear to be a demon or sinner of any kind.

She quietly admires the beautiful décor, but not without a thousand-yard stare that refuses to leave her face.

"Welcome to Crystal Infusions."

Cassandra looks up from her preparations, her hands pausing for a moment as she notices the disheveled woman wobbling through the door. Her usual serene expression softens at the sight of blood mixing with wet, white hair. Though startled, she quickly composes herself—this is Hell, after all, and such sights aren’t unusual. Still, something about the woman’s thousand-yard stare stirs the caretaker in her.

She wipes her hands on her apron and approaches with a gentle demeanor.

“Oh, dear.” Cassandra says softly, grabbing a small box of tissues from under the counter.

"Here, take these, clean yourself up a bit."

Her voice is warm and calming, as if speaking to someone she’s known for years. She places the tissues in the woman’s trembling hands, not rushing her, not pressing for answers.

"It looks like you’ve had a rough time."

Cassandra steps back, giving the woman space while keeping her comforting presence nearby. "There’s no rush here," she adds softly, "take your time. You’re safe now."

She turns back to the tea counter, moving calmly, already thinking of which blend might help soothe the woman’s shaken soul.

Boarding school au

Essentially just Edwin and Charles as humans suffering in a very strict boarding school with cruel punishments. Also including this torture device from Esther and the chokey (this shelf punishment from Matilda) Edwin has been trough it all and tries to protect Charles from it as good as he can. And Charles manages to let them sneak out to the nearest city, which is London.

Gender swap au (modern au or like the show)

A story about the daughter of Charle’s sister (the comic Charles had a sister so this part would be canon) and the great great grandniece of Edwin. That go to the same school and start to help each other against bullies. And maybe even accidentally find a way to the dead boy detective agency.

Crystal x Niko

Anything about them really. Like give them the romance they deserve. Maybe they solve a case together. Or Crystal find Niko after she is believed dead (this one would be after season one I haven’t read the comics and this is I think a story line which is different then in the original material so all just headcanon) Crystal finding a shrink Niko who is with the dandelion gods and they get rescued by Crystal.

Just Charles and Edwin solving a case after season 1 and Charles discovers his feelings for Edwin. Also them being this funny old married couple

Charles rescuing Edwin from hell but more romantic and more adventurous with a thigh room (I just love the scene too much)

Charles teaching Edwin how to kiss properly, plot twist Edwin is already a natural talented good kisser (as ghost or as humans, setting before season 1 or before Edwin’s trip back to hell)

Baby and or toddler Edwin (set after season 1) (I will probably write this as a fanfic myself) taken

During a case Charles gets infected by something and gets set in a trance. While Edwin and Crystal try everything to find out how to help him, Charles’ mind gets send back in time to the Edwardian age. Somehow he is the new servant for the Payne family that is explicitly hired to take care of Edwin. Edwin is a fussy baby and shows strange behaviours due to his autism. His parents of course just want him to behave like a grown up already and are overwhelmed with how to take care of him. Luckily Charles isn’t from this time, that’s why he knows that first of all cocaine isn’t medicine that you can give a baby and he generally knows Edwin’s needs. (Disclaimer he doesn’t fall in love with little Edwin that would be weird, but he has the opportunity to give Edwin memories of at least a nice childhood before the horrible boarding school, and he to paradoxically time reasons, Edwin in the normal time can only remember a blurry version of this memory and having a very nice servant who was half Indian)

Niko season 2 (Niko X Crystal)

A story in which Niko is old like in the end of dbd. She has been trough a lot of time troubles and needs to manage a lot to help the agency. Sadly she has no chance to tell them, she is not allowed to reveal her identity. But that might change once Crystal notices her feelings for the Niko she lost. Will she find out?

Finally, we get the opportunity to put our Spy Cards worldbuilding in a work. Though there are many questions about such things as "regulation" "how these cards are printed" "who approves a single spy card", and so on, we are here to present a bold new take: this game is based like 60% on obscure roach memory-reading tech that got turned into a card game with absolutely No card-game-related intentions included in the original tech and most of the card vetting is just from the fact that there aren't too many card printers out there and most of them make cards that need to be translated from Roach.

Strictly speaking, as a card game, it is not a terribly good or well-balanced one. It's popular primarily because of a mix of the difficulty involved in getting the data for high-level cards, the fun of seeing the variety of monsters that can be brought to the table, and the incredible amounts of ham and drama that goes into specifically the professional scene.

a room i made for my theomocent alt, themed after a scholasticate dormitory room. this was as much as i could do with his gil, but i'm happy with it. i always try to make sure my builds have at least one good photo location, and in this case, i find the reflection from these stained glass panes over the scholasticate furniture very beautiful.
