I miss being a teenager in 2014-2017 when it felt like we were moving forward with human rights. When me and my friends spend our time taking "so tumblr" pictures, fangirling, yapping about our favorite musicians, getting drunk the first time and shop lifting drug store rainbow highlighter for CSD.
It's not just that times have changed and we grew older but the dream of "our generation will make the change, we will vote for human rights, we will safe the globe and we won't make the same mistakes as our parents, grandparents and, as a german, great great grandparents." is shattered. We are cooked.

B-52 bomber makes emergency landing after engine fire
The fire of the B-52H engine occurs at the moment when the fleet is preparing to be re-remotorized, an update that will allow the model to serve for more decades.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 02/27/2024 - 21:27in Incidents, Military
A B-52H Stratofortress bomber at Minot Air Base, North Dakota, made an emergency landing due to an engine fire in early February 23.
All crew members left unharmed, said a spokesman for the base. Asked if the base lane remains open, the spokesman did not want to comment, but said that bomber operations at the base have continued normally since February 27.
A fire in a single engine led the pilot to land the bomber at approximately 12:52 p.m., and the base fire department arrived at the site and extinguished the fire of the aircraft, according to the base's host unit, the 5ª Bomber Wing. The bomber is powered by eight engines and was designed to fly and land safely in case of failures of up to two engines.

“First of all, the 5ª Bomber Wing is extremely grateful to all our aviators who arrived home safely,” the wing commander, Colonel Daniel Hoadley, said in the statement. "I would like to recognize our excellent base firefighters for their quick response."
The popular unofficial Facebook page "amn/nco/snco" reported the incident for the first time, with an anonymous and unconfirmed post that "a CSD (constant speed unit that drives the generator) caught fire on landing and burned that engine and part of the wing." Subsequently, the page posted an alleged image of the engine, showing great damage.
Tumblr media
It is currently not known what caused the fire and the incident is under investigation, following the standard protocol for accidents involving military operations.
The last major public accident with a B-52 occurred in 2017, when an engine crashed from the aircraft during a training flight in Minot. The pilot successfully landed the bomber without incident and all the aviators on board came out unharmed, but one of his Pratt & Whitney TF33-P-3/103 turbofan engines fell into a depopulated area.
Tumblr media
In May 2016, during a routine training mission at Andersen Air Base in Guam, an accident destroyed a B-52 bomber. The pilot of the 69º Expeditionary Bomber Squadron noticed problems during takeoff and began abortion procedures. However, the braking parachute failed, causing the aircraft to exceed the power limits of the brake system, overtake the runway and catch fire. All seven crew members escaped, with one receiving treatment for minor injuries. The total loss of the aircraft was valued at US$ 112 million.
The U.S. Air Force foresees the upgrade of the B-52 engines in the late 2020s or early 2030s with the Rolls Royce F130 engine, intended to be an individual replacement for its current TF33 engines in double nacelles.
We are thrilled to announce that we are on track to complete initial F130 engine testing for the @usairforce B-52J by the end of this year.
The F130 is a militarized version of the company's commercial BR725, which the U.S. Air Force already operates on its VIP C-37 and E-11 BACN (Battlefield Airborne Communications Node) transport aircraft. Rolls Royce will supply the engines, while Boeing, the original manufacturer of Stratofortress, will integrate them into the aircraft.

Four B-52s from Minot Air Base were sent to Guam in late January to support the Pacific Air Force mission. The bombers recently participated in several public missions, including the three-week Cope North multilateral exercise and a one-day exercise with Philippine fighters over the South China Sea this month. In addition, two of the bombers performed overfloats at the Singapore Airshow last week.

Opening | Vernissage
Galerie PHARODERCKS Berlin
VOM PRIDE ZU „PROUD“ – Berliner Galerie verlängert die CSD-Saison und bringt Berlin zum Lachen:
CARTOON CALLED LIFE
Vom 9.
Cartoon Called Life | Berlin ruft !

Sarai x LA: Capture All Australia
Mon 20–Sat, 25. Feb 2023
(Capture All)
Capture All is an international research and development program that has been developed by LA in partnership with Sarai-CSDS, Delhi since 2021. Comprised of artists, researchers, activists, and educators, the program explores how sound and listening practices may critically analyse, and break, the recursive colonial patterns in data-driven governance that haunt and impact contemporary life in setter- and post-colonial Australia and India.
How might we intervene in and resist perpetual patterns of capture that are increasingly abstracted, automated, and blackboxed beyond reach? Where and how do such practices relate to histories of migration in the Asia Pacific context? How is audibility understood, stretched, and counter-mobilised in relation to settler-colonial extractivism, technological control and capture, and ongoing modes of statist and corporate governance?
These questions will propel a Capture All residency in February, hosted by LA and convened by Laura McLean and Suvani Suri with cohort members Aasma Tulika, Joel Spring, Mehak Sawhney, Shareeka Helaluddin, Thomas Smith, and Uzma Falak.
During the residency, performances, lectures, and workshops by the Capture All cohort will be presented at ACCA as part of the Data Relations Summer School on Monday 20 February. This will include an evening performance open to the public.
Loops, Echoes, Phonophanies, and other Détournements lecture and musical performance Australian Centre for Contemporary Art 5–8pm, 20 February Suvani Suri w/ Aasma Tulika, Uzma Falak, Shareeka Helaluddin, Mehak Sawhney
A drift that begins with the attempts to tune into the inaudible recordings of the Linguistic Survey of India archives, producing short circuits in the process. The slow rummaging opens up ways of listening to co-relationalities, within the archival crackles, echoic memories, archaeological artefacts, earwitness testimonies, computational instructions, and cultural data sets moored in South Asian contexts.
Capture All: screen and sound 2–5pm, 25 February Composite, Melbourne
Screening works by: Tom Smith, Narrative 001: The Things We Like, 2022 (18 mins 45 secs) Mochu - Cool Memories of Remote Gods, 2017 (14 mins 48 secs) Aasma Tulika, Listening to Success Stories, 2022 (19 mins 23 secs) Kush Badhwar, Blood Earth, 2013 (35 mins) Joel Spring, Diggermode (23 mins) Jazz Money, We have stories for all the dark spaces in between (7 mins 15 secs)
Capture All is supported as an International Strategic Initiative by the Australia Council for the Arts.

My first time at Pride
One thing I learned today: Going to Pride alone isn’t much fun if you’re like me and you have big NPC energy, so you don’t talk to people unless they talk to you first. I was lucky I ran into a friend later who can talk to people.
Anyway, here are some things that happened:
I almost cried at the beginning because I was so happy to see so many fellow queer people.
I saw four (4) people from the youth centre, but one of them had to leave because their brother doesn’t like crowds
We walked past a gay wedding. Everyone: *cheers* One person: “PENIS!”
We saw a dog in a window and everyone cheered
Someone complimented my hair
They played Schrei nach Liebe by Die Ärzte. Guess Die Ärzte are officially queer culture now.
Me and my friend hung out with some strangers. Some people who were in one of the groups included: A 16-year-old bisexual boy and his questioning friend from the countryside in Rhineland-Palatinate (so remote they can’t go anywhere without someone driving them because their village doesn’t have a bus connection). And a BDSM couple in an open relationship and their new addition who they met the day before at a bondage meeting.
Some people came up to us with a balloon-thingy saying “You look like a group who could need a challenge cup”. We named it Manfred.
“This is the first time I made it through a big event without having a mental breakdown since 2017. Oh no wait, I had a mental breakdown then.”
“Everyone’s fingering Manfred sounds like a terrible porn from the 80′s”
“I kinda like that they’re giving out free condoms, but somehow it also has the implication of ‘‘Please don’t reproduce, we don’t want other people like you.’“
A trans woman came out as trans to her brother by saying “You’re getting a sister”. Her brother thought their mom was pregnant at first.
An old woman came up to me and asked me what CSD means (it stands for Christopher Street Day, which is what we call pride parades in Germany, named after the street where Stonewall happened)
Someone screamed “ANNA!”, so everyone started screaming “HELGA!” (a common ritual at music festivals in Germany).
Anyway, I noticed once again that I can’t really function in large groups without having an emotional support person(tm) with me. Luckily, the LGBT youth centre has two pretty chill events (a walk along a river and a hangout in a park) coming up next week, so I’ll probably go there (at least I have my four to five people I’m comfortable with there plus I also want to see the person I’m either hyperfixating or developing a squish on again).

Earning love is, of course, far more laborious than earning money. In India, the support offered by men and government agencies when it comes to household chores and care ranks amongst the lowest in the world. Women bear the overwhelming burden of being the sole providers of care for children, nourishing the future workforce, while also caring for the elderly. Love motivates us to take on back-breaking gestures of care with good cheer.
A 2017 World Economic Forum report found that sixty-six per cent of Indian women's labour goes unpaid. Only twelve per cent of men's labours were unpaid.
Oxfam has found that Indian women put in 3.26 billion hours of unpaid care work everyday, estimated to be contribution of nearly ₹19 trillion to the Indian economy.
In 2017, nearly six out of ten Indian women aged fifteen and older spent all their time exclusively on unpaid housework.
According to a CSDS survey amongst Indians aged fifteen to thirty-four reported that eighty-four per cent of their marriages were arranged. Nine out of ten of these weddings were within the same caste.
A 2020 World Economic Forum report on gender gaps in economic participation and opportunity placed India in the bottom five countries of the world, with Pakistan, Syria, Yemen and Iraq.
Anthropologists say that the northern parts of India are part of a 'classical' patriarchy belt. Women transact in the 'patriarchal bargain' - putting up with all kinds of indignities imposed on them by men and family life, because the gains from cooperation seem vital. Economists use dull and precise language - a women's bargaining power is weak as her exit options are limited. No one sits you down and instructs you in game theory or patriarchy, you gradually learn the rules of the game. Soon, you become complicit in your own discrimination, looking for a man to help you trade upwards in the world.
