In light of recent revelations about the ghast life cycle... amphibian?? ghasts in all their ugly majesty
Theories below:
Toughened skin as adult, to retain water in nether climate
larvae hatch with a small amount of buoyancy - from gas?
ghastlings can still land and spend most of their time consuming water, snow, and ice in order to grow
do ghastlings feed on algae and other microbes, and plankton? Do adult ghasts filter them from the nether's congested air?
ghastlings that don't get enough water become ill and go into a semi-dormant stasis, at which point players find them?
9 tentacles - 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 tail, 2 barbels, and 2 gill appendages
highly derived and in order to float, they have very shortened spines and likely have massive gas bladders deep inside their body, which require water (the gas is a digestive biproduct)
species' eyes are highly light-sensitive after adapting to the nether

the sixth ear
Martyn’s listening power in WLS7 being RNG was crazy work. The title/caption inspired by an idiom referenced in JTTW. Section 2.2 of this post explains it better, but to summarize “a secret isn’t safe between six ears” (where the sixth ear is referring to an unwelcome listener)

Note
since there is difficulty trying to photograph the infinite polygon cube maybe you guys can try and draw it?
Tumblr media
There is not really a way to capture on paper how orange this object is in person.
With the context of what I have disclosed about its effects, you can imagine drawing this was very difficult.

A vote of trust.
That scene in the three hour video got to me really hard, and I had to draw it. There's something so mesmerizing about turning the act of handing over a Charter Weapon into an action as simple as pressing Q.

Hiiiiii I saw ur post about Sindra and I'm curious about why she starts working for the GDA 👀👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
funny answer is because they gave her a specialized suit and she was like "omg ur so cool of course ill help u" and had nothing better to do. But the longer answer is more along the lines of her people's culture is very neutral about what others are doing. It's not her place to judge whether someone deserves her healing or not, if there's someone injured and she can heal them, it's her duty to do so. So really it's not that she's working for the GDA exactly, but more like she goes where there are injured people that need help. GDA agents and soldiers are often injured, and Cecil can tell her where to go for more injured people, so it's a good place to be as a healer. and also she had nothing better to do

About square food
Someone on Reddit asked about whether or not Duviri had square food and I wrote such a long-winded response that I figured I would post it here too.
Enjoy!
I have been wondering the same thing honestly. I'm pretty sure ALL food on the Zariman was square, as they were meant for interstellar travel as "nutritional cubes" to keep longer.
I have pretty much zero idea what they ate in Duviri (only thing I know for certain is they had vineyards for wine for nobility), but my best guess is probably also nutritional cubes for a couple reasons.
One is that the drifter is the one who made Duviri, so whatever they imagined would be made real there, including what they ate.
The second is that the drifter, after arriving in 1999, mentions that square food is comforting, so they had to have eaten it often either before Duviri or during.
Given their non-descript allotted time in Duviri, which was purposefully left vague (but as time may not work the same way in the Void as it does our own reality, it could be anywhere from a couple decades to thousands of years for all we know), if they didn't eat cubes there, then it could make sense because the idea of "comfort" in a place they know as a personal hell would remind them of a time before Duviri. However, the longer the time they could have spent in Duviri, the less sense it makes, because then the memories of a time before would be faded or vague at best. It could still work if they held on to those memories, but given the drifter made a world of their own after being left on the Zariman (aka "not saved" like the operator was) just so they could escape from losing their mind entirely, then that prior comfort might have been entirely cast aside for their own sanity's sake.
The possibility of them having had nutritional cubes for only a couple years leading up to space travel then saying that it is "comforting" doesn't make much sense either, especially if they only had them for such a short time.
So in my opinion, either the drifter ate nutritional cubes all their life up until a couple decades of Duviri, or Duviri had the cubes as well while they spent who-knows-how-long amounts of time there.
Added tidbit: When it comes to people, suppressing memories is something we do very well to cope, so I say "MIGHT have been entirely cast aside for their own sanity's sake" for the very reason that just because the memory is suppressed does not mean it cannot resurface. It's possible, just a matter of whether or not our brains can remember or will keep that memory in favor of something else.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Wait a minute...
The exact same stone head designs appear in both Garbage Wastes and Farm Arrays
My first theory is that Garbage Wastes used to be an agricultural ground, but because of the construction of LTTM, they had to move the Farm Arrays much further away. And that these stone heads acted as scarecrows- or idols of some sort who would somehow ensure better crop growth?
I doubt they were just thrown out. The ones in GW are in rather pristine condition.
But my second theory is that the stone heads are an attempt to scare off wildlife away from the dumps, probably to discourage accumulations of creatures that could cause damage.
Which would have very ironically backfired, considering both these places are where Scavengers have set up tolls.

But also... there's THIS design of a "stone head", which DOESN'T appear in GW, yet it shows up in LF and Outskirts. Clearly these 3 designs all mean something different, considering how they all show up and are placed-

Alongside that, LF and SU share the fucking CUBES! And the arches! What's going on here! What do these structures MEAN

What the fuck is the infinite polygon cube???
The object dubbed "The Infinite Polygon Cube" is a cuboid item originally located in the Far Plane that possesses qualities similar to that of a computer-generated model with an unfathomable amount of polygons. It takes the appearance of a supremely orange cube.
Due to its qualities, the object has the following effects on reality:
Anyone who looks at it will have their mind overwhelmed and they will have difficulty going through with basic functions.
Their movements will become choppy and erratic.
They will have trouble speaking.
All devices that attempt to record it will crash. This includes via photo, video, or 3D scan.
Local time around the cube is broken up into sequential bursts with "lag" in between.
Upon physical contact, a human will become unconscious.
The cube is immune to all projectiles. Any projectiles thrown or shot towards it will freeze in place approximately one foot away from the cube and remain there until removed.
The cube can be successfully contained in a simple room or container and can be handled via tongs or other instruments that allow handling of it from a distance. Handling it for any reason other than research is not recommended.

I love the little mannerisms the LIB have in npmd. Wiggly still talking in his “uwu“ voice, and like never blinking, Tinky hunching over like a weird little gremlin and giggling like a maniac, Nibbly gnashing his teeth, Pokey sometimes covering his face with his mask, Blinky pulling down his shades to stare at people. They’ve all got such specific character quirks and I love it.
