This happens all the time
And I can't help but think I'll die alone

"...a dark beach with a black view
As pin-pricks in the velvet catch our fall"
.
I love Cubicles with my entire heart and this is one of those lyrics that I wanted to illustrate for the longest time, the visual is SO striking! Also I guess this proves once again that in my head Bullets is a blue album :O

On an album like ...Bullets... a song like Cubicles might seem out of place. It's a horror punk album where songs use their narrative as a metaphor for Gerard to explore their personal traumas and struggles, then suddenly you just hit a song about cubicles?? Working?? And then just dying alone?? Theres no fantastical metaphor, no flashy over the top dramatic horror. Just the brutal mundane reality we exist as nothing more than a replaceable cog on a pointless machine and any connection and meaning we find can be ripped away from us in an instant. I think I'd love to die alone.
