btw c Dream has no assignable sex. I literally just made him a Creature.
also he couldn't care less about the way his gender or pronouns are seen by the other people around him. he doesn't really have a gender?? and, honestly, he really doesn't understand the importance of it.
he also doesn't really care what pronouns are used for him. he normally says he/they for the sake of simplicity (at least at the start of the server), but also he does not give a crap about what pronouns you use for him. he/him pronouns come from what c XD referred to him as when he was a child and, subsequently, what he told puffy when she asked him about it. he probably started using they/them pronouns alongside he/him in his very late pre-teens to very early teens, probably between 11-13 years old.
he never really tried to label his gender until near the start of or before the server. he was talking to c Sapnap and c George about gender and trying to explain his view of his own gender and one of them was like "so you're Agender?" and he was kinda just like "...sure." and started telling people he was Agender and used he/they pronouns.
during tommy's exile, he begins to take a liking to having his pronouns capitalized like people do with God in the bible and shit. c Tommy writes in a little journal about Dream and he begins to get onto Tommy about Tommy doing his pronouns wrong and how the H in he and the T in they should be capitalized. (btw Tommy never really gets out of this habit after exile. he recognizes that it's weird but he can't quite place why he started doing it so he continues to do it for years later).
after Dream successfully revives Tommy in prison, he drops the whole 'telling people he's agender for the sake of simplicity' thing and moves to a perspective more akin to "I'm above everyone else so I don't need to cater to their mortal concepts of gender. I am simply too complex for other people to understand". aka "I'm not like other girls" /j
when the shit in the prison with c Quackity happens, Quackity refereed to Dream as 'it' a lot, in a way meant to purposefully dehumanize Dream. So, after escaping prison, he essentially reclaims that pronoun so that, instead of referring to him in a dehumanizing manner, it emphasizes his divinity. so he uses It/They/He pronouns.
[ All names mentioned are exclusively referring to the characters portrayed on the DreamSMP. I do not support cc Dream, cc George, or cc Sapnap. Please DNI and/or block me if you do. Thank you!! ]

C. J. Barlowe:
Killer Notes from RtR23 (multi-author) series (?). M-M. Band. Bodyguard. Needs a proofreader. Lack of respect between leads: one cries with laughter when the other is angry with him. One lead hits the other, without consent, when he won't go beyond the interaction necessary for their jobs; one slap for every question he doesn't answer. One lead ignores consent & makes sexual advances (trying to join in a solo masturbation session somewhere he's not supposed to be & when the other lead has his eyes closed) when he's been told that, despite attraction, his counterpart doesn't want anything to happen between them. Bigger lead assumes he'll top. Some stupid. Also lacks nuance & verve. Not worth finishing.
CW: physical attacks; stalking; mentally & physically abusive ex; recent death of a grandparent; gun violence; walking in on someone who's naked & staying to watch them whilst they're oblivious; death threats; anti-fraternisation policies; historic bullying by lead & other band members; historic fatal crash; historic restraint without consent; cheating ex; ex related to current employer; rejection.

This was initially part of a longer post, but I like to contemplate a headcanon about Spock after "The Immunity Syndrome." Basically, I wonder, once the dust settles, how Spock feels about the deaths on the Intrepid, what he allows himself to process, consider, resent, or grieve.
For context: I think there's a pretty clear parallel between Spock getting hit like a truck by the psychic shock of 400 Vulcans dying on the Intrepid, and Kirk's experiences on Tarsus IV and the Farragut. But I also feel that Kirk's governing rationales in the episode are markedly Spock-like or directly parallel Spock. He accepts (however reluctantly) the pragmatic logic that it should be McCoy or Spock who goes on the suicide mission rather than himself. He considers Spock's and McCoy's arguments about which one should go, and Kirk's mental calculus leads him to the same conclusion as Spock, that his steadier temperament trumps McCoy's more specialized biological knowledge.
Spock's recording of likely-posthumous commendations for the crew of the Enterprise and the ship itself only names one individual in particular, "the captain," before cutting to Kirk's own recording of his commendations. Kirk's version lists various officers and then specifies that his highest commendation goes to Spock (who he believes at that point to be dead ;_;). Kirk risks the entire crew of the Enterprise to rescue Spock with a margin of error of less than a minute, against the advice of Scotty and Spock himself, which is exactly the kind of thing Spock does in episodes like "The Tholian Web" (usually against the advice of, uh, everyone).
Anyway, I headcanon that once the adrenaline has dropped and the Enterprise is safely en route to the starbase or wherever, and McCoy has checked Spock's vitals etc, and they're all off-duty, that Spock retreats to the solitude of his quarters to meditate and perform whatever rituals should be done for the Intrepid's crew. I suspect that he'd feel intensely alone in those moments, after witnessing and psychically experiencing something that most people on the Enterprise can barely contemplate and don't try to understand. In response to this behavior earlier, Spock himself said sharply:
You find it easier to understand the death of one than the death of a million. You speak about the objective hardness of the Vulcan heart, yet how little room there seems to be in yours.
But of course, there is an obvious someone on the Enterprise who absolutely would get the horror of witnessing meaningless mass deaths of a community you're part of. So I like to imagine that, after Kirk revises his log, he stops by—not realizing Spock is mid-meditation—to see if there's anything he can do and express understanding for what he must be going through.
I imagine that, jerked out of meditation and contemplating What Must Be Done, Spock's kneejerk response would be a weary "You cannot possi—" before the realization hits him that, of course, Kirk does understand, and he quietly welcomes him. They don't say much beyond Spock providing some limited explanation of protocols for honoring the dead when there's no way to recover any part of them, and Kirk nodding and quietly assisting. But he stays afterwards for a few hours in which Spock can't bring himself to assure him he can go, and there are not-quite-awkward long silences, and Spock asks some questions about the Farragut. It's a rare context in which Kirk is actually willing to talk about what happened—if it makes things easier for Spock in the first wake of experiencing this, okay.
I also imagine that Kirk is like ... obviously I didn't experience the deaths psychically, I'm not saying it's exactly the same. Spock just responds that, also, he understands that this is nothing to the sheer quantity of deaths that Kirk has seen, when 10x as many people died on Tarsus IV alone. This time the moment of silence is awkward, but then Kirk tells him that there's a point at which comparisons of death tolls become illogical. Spock thinks this doesn't make sense, but in another way, it very much does, and he's not sure even Sarek would disagree.

does jess have someone that she would consider a best friend?
Tumblr media
PROMPT : send me a topic to write a meta about my muse on .
HELL YES !
There are two women who mean more to her than life itself. I'll start with her first ever best friend: Lindsay McCabe.
[ And, prepare yourself, this is gonna be a long one LOL ]
Oh, Lindsay, how I adore you. Back when Jessica was fresh off her escape from Hydra, she finds herself rather lost. Emotionally, socially, she just doesn't know how to interact with people. Add onto that, she's got pheromone abilities raging out of control that either make people obsess over her, or feel complete disgust at the very sight of her. Once Magnus and Jerry leave, one of the first things Jessica does on her own is sign herself up for group therapy (where she also ends up getting her first job). In the first session, everyone is asked to pair off, and wouldn't ya know it:
Tumblr media
side note but her little thought bubble in the next panel kills me
Tumblr media
" incredible ! "
anyway ⸺⸺
Tumblr media
TEN HOURS LATER ! Lindsay, it can not be said enough, I love you. Magnus, while a father figure to her, ultimately helps Jessica for his own benefit. Jerry only obsessed over her due to pheromones. . . But not our Lindsay ⸺⸺ the first person EVER to like Jess for Jess.
I'm just endlessly tickled by the bit below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bubbly Lindsay vs Emo Jess who just wants friends. You got this bbygirl.
THIS IS THEIR NEXT THERAPY SESSION TOGETHER . And it's one of my favourite all time moments! Lindsay immediately jumping to Jessica's defense, inviting her to do something to distract her, taking her back home to listen to music and talk for hours. She helps Jess relax, draws her out of her loneliness and gloom. And you ask me ? It's probably the first time she's ever truly felt at ease.
I'll pause with the panels ( partly for space, partly because I do have a couple posts in the drafts rn about Jessica's relationships with people, and Lindsay was ofc the very first post I started working on ) ⸺⸺ but the two only grow closer and closer. They have dinners together, talk for hours on the phone, Linds becomes a part of the Spider-Woman's nightly ritual to unwind back into Jessica Drew ( over the phone, ofc ⸺⸺ that identity is still a secret for now ! ).
Eventually, as a struggling actress, Lindsay's work takes her to San Francisco, and she asks Jessica to move in with her ! Another very cute couple of scenes, highly recommend, look how adorable they are all dressed up for the dinner when Lindsay asks.
During one of Jessica's cases, one of her clients stays at her and Lindsay's place. I'll let the scene below of Jess coming home play out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
god dammit Lindsay McCabe, I LOVE YOU. And Jess goes on an absolute rampage after that.
SHE'LL ALWAYS GO ON A RAMPAGE FOR LINDSAY MCCABE !
Because I got carried away, I'll wrap Jess and Lindsay up: vengeance is exacted, Lindsay returns home safe and sound. Shortly after that, due to Some Shenanigans™️, the two end up in Madripoor ⸺⸺ where Lindsay not only helps save Jessica's life, but the pair decide to settle and set up shop there for a while.
[ Unfortunately, for whatever reason, comic writers kinda forgot about Lindsay after that. I mean, granted ⸺⸺ Jessica herself was barely used in comics during the 90s and early 2000s ( aside from Mattie Franklin stuff ), and when she reappears as a regular in the mid-2000s, she's been replaced by a Skrull. Luckily, Beloved Karla Pacheco remembered Lindsay and put her back into Jessica's life. And it seems as though the two kept up contact, even if Linds was off the page for IRL decades. ]
Now 😌 put your hands together for the one, the only ⸺⸺ CAROL DANVERS !!!
I could, in all honesty, never shut up about these two. The mushiness that they openly share, despite putting on such tough exteriors towards others. Their affection through hugs, holding hands, touching each other's faces. The way Carol constantly goes to bat for Jess, and it doesn't matter who to. Ever since day one, they have trusted one another. They tease each other. They argue. But they'll always look out for the other when it comes down to the wire. Doing anything to find the other when they're lost or missing. Jess is canonically Chewie's babysitter. They write each other when Carol is in space. "Kirk." "Spock." MAN. . .
I LOVE THESE TWO.
Because I absolutely did start getting carried away again, I'm gonna save a long deep dive into her friendship with Carol for another post ⸺⸺ especially since I've wrote so much about Lindsay. But, I hardly get a chance to talk so much about Lindsay. And, also, because I genuinely do never shut up about Jess and Carol. So, for now, I've included some links below to posts that have some of my favourite moments.
