not to be like this but all of the posts (and there are many across multiple platforms) right now going "I mean obviously I'm not mad or whining or anything but it sucks that there's all these three week breaks, how am I going to survive, this is awful, I cannot believe this is happening to me" like, it does in fact come off as entitled no matter how many qualifiers are put onto it

and the a smaller subset of THAT going "CLEARLY C3 isn't a priority for the studio" or "they're obviously trying to kill C3" or even posting stuff that comes off as "um, don't they know that if they keep doing this I won't shop here watch anymore", like, come on

as a tangent, genuinely, I feel like a lot of people have trouble admitting that they don't actually like C3 so they get existentially worried about them losing interest over a slightly longer break because it'll force them to acknowledge that they aren't actually interested, but it's fine not to be interested!

Welcome to a new (but not quite?) D.Gray-man blog that centers around reader insert content! You might know me from my now archived blog, @exorcistcupid. I’m commonly known as Mod Karma!

Why I so far don’t really feel comfortable talking about it, I’ve been dealing with a personal hiatus for a little over 2 years, which has caused a sharp decrease of me making posts here on this app compared to a few years prior. Great news, is that the stress from the personal problems has greatly decreased! I’m starting to get back more engaged in the fanbases I’m apart of!

I wanna try to get myself active again, and I realized that making ramble posts and edits that I use to do in the past isn’t working, hence why I wanna do imagines! I did some in the past, but not gonna lie I am not even close to being proud of those, but I felt like my writing has improved so I feel confident.

Since I’m back into my D.gray-man rot, I’ll confess something.

I have an Oc, he’s named Lavi Hart and he’s one of the main characters in my original story, he was based off of Lavi due to how much I loved Lavi but was suffering with the fact that he has not appeared in over….. 13 years, yikes I know.

I made him when I was 15 or so, and I always felt bad when drawing him in any way, he doesn’t look like Lavi from D.Gray-man anymore (thank god) but sometimes I feel bad when drawing him, specially since I have since started using him as a Black clover Oc.

But I remember that, artists inspire each other, and Hoshino as a writer and artist in general, has shaped the way I started approaching story writing. Watching her work and learning from her had inspired me to create my own original story.

Revisiting DGM with the last chapter had once again made me realize how much Hoshino shaped me into the story teller I am today, which why no matter how many times I drift from this series, I never forget how great it is and how many times it kept dragging me back because of how greatly written it is in terms of everything really.

I might be a bit corny with this shitty post, but I just wanted to express my love for DGM.

°`🍨: You realize that Kanda never loved you

After three years in the Black Order, you should feel at home. After all, they were like a family, but something didn’t feel right for a long time now. If you look around, you’ll notice how glances lingered on you but they weren‘t glances you would give a family member.

At the moment, you were sitting at a table in the cafeteria to enjoy your breakfast, but today you couldn’t get a bite down. There was a knot in your throat and your stomach turned. You bite your lower lip while you brought your tray back to Jerry. You’re apologetic. As you leave the cafeteria, you notice those looks that burned themself in your back. You weren’t as strong as Kanda, Lavi, Allen or Lenalee, but you’re trying your best. No one really saw how hard you work to become stronger to protect the people of the Black Order and, of course, the innocent people threatened by the Earl.

You shaked your head and lifted your head. You still had to talk to Komui about the next mission. With both hands, you hit both cheeks before making your way to Komui’s office. This mission is not meant to be a long one, nor a difficult one, which is why you should do it on your own. Although you would like to have the company of another exorcist, you will survive the time on your own. After all, there is also a finder with you, which is why you hope that he will have conversations with you.

As you walk to the office, you grab the bracelet around your right wrist. You got this one from Kanda. Although he handed it over with a serious face, you could remember exactly how red his cheeks were. That memory brought a smile to your face. You looked out the window and stopped. Right now, Kanda was on a mission with the others, which is why you won’t see him again until after your mission. It was exhausting not seeing him for a long time, but you knew what you were getting into when you confessed your love to him. No one knows how you managed to get him to return your love, but you don’t want to question it. You’re happy with the current situation.

You stood in front of the office door and raised your hand to knock but what you could hear made you tilt your head in confusion. “Are you pretty sure we should do this?”, you heard Reever’s voice. Slowly, you took a step closer to the door and lied your on ear on the door to be able to follow the conversation better. You could hear a loud sigh and someone getting up from their chair. You assumed it was Komui. He then started talking: “It’s a tough decision, but it would really be best to let her go.” “But at the moment we need every person that can fight against the Earl”, Reever replied. Once again, all you hear is a loud sigh. “I know that’s why the decision is so hard but Y/N would only hurt us more.”

Your breath stopped. You could hear your heart ringing loudly in your ears as you stared shocked at the door. You knew you weren’t the strongest person in the Black Order, but you didn’t know what a burden you were after all. Your hand was shaking, but now there was no turning back. Inside, you hope you heard the wrong name, but the same words kept ringing in your head. You took deep breaths to calm down. Slowly, you knocked on the door and walked in. Inside, you put on a smile while holding your other hand behind your back with one hand. They shouldn’t know you’ve been overhearing them.

After the conversation, you were almost running through the hallways. Your heart started beating faster again. It rang in your ears, but also the world turned before your eyes. Your eyes started to sting and in your room you had to take deep breaths. You leaned against the wooden door and slowly slided down. It all seemed like a terrible nightmare, but you knew how real this moment was. Desperately, you put your head on your knees. How much you longed for Kanda’s closeness. Alone in the quiet, too many thoughts are rushing through your head. But slowly it dawned on you. Those cold glances came because of your weakness. They must have been wondering all the time how Komui still allowed such a weak exorcist to roam the Black Order. Your thoughts went to Kanda. What if he felt the same way ? Was that really love he feels for you or is it pity ? You looked up when you heard someone knocking on the door. You breathed sharply the air in, hoping no one would hear you, even if you could swear that everyone nearby could hear your loud heartbeat.

What you heard now not only broke your heart but destroyed your world even more. "She doesn't seem to be there, luckily," you recognised Lavi's voice. At first you wondered why he was there again but you couldn't help biting your lower lip as you repeated his sentence again in your head. You could now hear Kanda's voice: "I hate to agree with you but that's the way it is". You could clearly hear relief in his voice. "I'm tired of pretending to feel something for this person because of the Black Order," every word he spoke stung your heart like he was throwing knives at it. You could hear the footsteps moving away and you threw your body onto your bed. You pressed your face into the pillow until it was soaked with your tears.

The next day you were back at the same table as the day before. This time you held only a glass of water in your hands. You stared silently at the wall while your eyes felt heavy. The whole night you couldn't sleep because you had to process what you had heard the day before. You were clearly not wanted in this family. With a heavy heart you got up, took all your luggage and left the building early in the morning without saying goodbye. All you did was looking at the building one last time before heading to the station. Without knowing it, Kanda and the others were standing outside your room. They had asked where you were last night. When Komui said that you hadn't left the Black Order yet, they searched the whole building for you. Hoping to find you now, they opened your door after knocking, but your room was pitch black. "Oh man, the room looks abandoned, someone should turn on the lights!" said Lenalee as she looked over the shoulders of the boys. Allen turned on the light and all four of them stopped moving on the spot. The room was really empty.

You looked out of the window on the train. Hot tears fell on your lap. You took one last deep breath before the train derailed and took you your life. That same day, Komui arrived with Kanda, Lenalee, Allen and Lavi at the town where the bodies of the victims of the derailment were brought. With permission, they looked at each body to make sure you were not one of them. Relieved, the young men exhaled when they couldn't find you, but beside them Lenalee collapsed. She was on her knees sobbing loudly and shaking her head. At that moment, two men came into the room with another stretcher. There was an arm hanging out, wearing exactly the same bracelet you and Kanda have.

It was on TV so I watched the dub version! We just watched it whenever it happened to be on at the moment so I'm really not caught up on anything or ever had a good grasp on the overarching plot tbh and I was also scared as hell bc I was like 10 when I first watched it lol (I also watched inuyasha pretty much the same way just a bit later!)

I really like d.gray-man but that might be bc it's one of my first anime haha the manga is also not anywhere near finished and my favorite character has been missing for 10 years now :') but I like it! Ouran is so funny, especially the german dub bc it's just so silly even compared to the original dub

Oh that'd be hilarious. Will and Mike literally living under the same roof but still pining and missing each other. But also the angst of the whole thing, though I guess it wouldn't work as well for Byler if they're still childhood friends bc they would instantly recognize each other (I just looked it up and Ran and Shinichi are also childhood friends??? How does she not recognize him??? The mysteries of anime lol)

Maybe this could be more of a funny romcom where they try to solve some mysteries and also somehow have to figure out how to get one of them to grow up again. I don't even know who I would want to be deaged but probably Mike bc he'd be so mad and grumpy about it the whole time

Considering writing a Daemon AU for D.gray-man, but is the fandom even alive enough to read it????

I like the idea of the complications of necromancy and akuma and Noah when your literal soul is something outside your body, something physical and visible.

What magic is used to get around it? What ways do Akuma affect Daemon? Does the magic keep the daemon whole, controlled by the new invading soul in it’s body? Do daemons shift with the new owner, the new soul, or does the Akuma magic keep them trapped in this form, tortured as much as the other half of their soul, chained to a form not meant for itself? Do akuma’s souls feel it, when you touch their daemon? I can’t imagine they react outwardly, but perhaps through Allen’s eye, he can see them flinch, see them scream and cry and beg for mercy for their daemon, if not for themselves. Can Allen see the daemon’s soul as well, it’s true form, chained and restrained and tortured within itself?

What do Daemon mean for Noah? I like the idea that they unsettle when Noah are reborn, that the rebirth changes them so fundamentally that their daemons must change as well, must rediscover what and who they are. But do they always resettle into the same form as their previous lives? I doubt it. There seems some separation, at least for Tiki, from the original Noah memory. But for Wisely, it seemed to be a one-to-one reincarnation. Perhaps it depends on the individual, on how much they remember and connect with their previous selves, on how much they identify with them.

And what of the Second Exorcists? Are they reborn with their daemon? Do they even HAVE daemon anymore, or did they fail to follow them into this life? If they did, are they the same as they had been the last time? Do the souls remember, even when the brains do not? Do the daemon remember their past lives? Do they see these children as themselves, or are they so different that even the other half of their souls can no longer recognize them? Or are the daemons just as clueless, just as new?

And Neah… is he still considered alive? Does his daemon remain, alive and alone? Does his soul still long for his brother, for his best friend? Do they need to stay nearby, need to cling to the other half of their soul?

Oh god. Oh god Timcampy is Neah’s daemon. Hidden in plain sight, disguised as a golem.

Wait. Neah and Mana were the same person once. Could Timcampy be BOTH of their daemons??? Ohhhh boy, and combined with the theory that Mana sealed his soul inside Allen with the curse, and how much Mana cared about his little Pierrot, and how much Neah and Allen had to care about each other for his reset to make sense, of course a piece of their soul would love him too, of course a piece of their soul would mourn him even if Neah would not allow himself to, and of course their daemon would WANT TO STAY CLOSE-

I may be posting some polls soon about what Daemons characters should have, or I may go take that one weirdly-specific Daemon quiz from the perspective of the characters.

Hello, just wanted to let you know that I've been hooked on City of Blank ever since I found it a few weeks ago. It's been an incredibly compelling read. One thing I was curious about is what were your main sources of inspiration for creating this story from various media films/books etc (if any). I've noticed that the Scion's seem to share a few similarities to the symbiote's from Spider-Man, or have I completely misread that? Thank you for an entertaining read and best of luck in the future.

Thank you! It sincerely means a lot that people are still finding CoB and giving it a chance despite it's length. I've said it before, but sometimes I feel like it's kind of sour milk on WT haha. It's just too old and long for new readers to give it a chance.

To answer your question...

Most of the inspiration comes from media I consumed back in middle school when I actually came up with the idea. I know the main inspiration was a short anime film called Kakurenbo which kind of got me into my mask obsession.

It made me wanna make a story where everyone wears masks. The blanks kind of followed from that premise as a reason for everyone to have to wear masks.

Spiderman definitely had...nothing to do with the scions, though I totally get why people go there. Spiderman wasn't really relevant when they came around (at least not beyond like the Toby Mcguire films lol) and definitely not Venom.

Besides, I can absolutely tell you that the evil other half 10000% came from Bleach and Hollow Ichigo.

I have like a super distinct memory of wanting to give Rex an evil other half after the reveal of Hollow Ichigo. I was obsessed haha. (A reminder that I came up with CoB when I was like 13 LOL)

Some other major early influences are definitely Trigun, which I think super influenced the world. It's probably why CoB is in a desert city with so many sand-stone buildings.

The very first version of CoB was very very very reminiscent of the scenery in Trigun, though I think my time in San Francisco had a lot of influence on how it is in the Originals version. Unfortunately I don't have the budget or time to depict Glory City as well as I'd like to, but I imagine it's like a desert version of San Francisco, except flat.

Lastly, I know some characters that have have MAJOR influence on some of the characters are Luffy, Yato (Noragami), Rin (Blue Exorcist) for Rex. Slightly more recent, but I am 100% positive Jericho became a lot goofier after I got MAJORLY into the like...Team Skull fandom and became obsessed with Guzma haha.

Lastly, Rex's scion ended up getting WAY sassier and having more personality after I caught up with D.Gray-Man only last year or so. I kind of loved how Noah (?) behaved in the more recent chapters and I think it ended up influencing me to make scion way, way, way more sassy than I was originally planning.

why do you like shin soukoku? / what made you like akuatsu?

Answer Monday! (I disappeared on Sunday).

Well, I always liked characters that represent black and white, or else have these characteristics of opposites so explicit in their designs (Example: Kanda and Allen from D.Gray-man, Yuuri and Viktor from Yuri on Ice, Shion and Nezumi from No.6, and others).

They have a lot in commom, and at the same time they are so different in personality that, for me, they create a balance. In Beast you can see that without prejudice in between they can get along quite well, and even though it's just a ship that will never become canon to my misfortune, I like to imagine that in my Post-canon they managed to find those similarities and differences and get along. Also, I love the topic Ying and Yang that is handled in the series, also the relationship they both have with Chinese culture with Atsushi clearly being the tiger and Akutagawa being the dragon. If the SKK is the same soul in two bodies, the SSKK for me is the balance 🖤🤍

And although I never talk about why for me it's "Akuatsu" and not "Atsuaku", I simply cannot see Akutagawa as bottom in "adult" settings.

That doesn't mean that I see Atsushi as a passive character who allows himself to be bossed around and abused, the canon shows that Atsushi simply doesn't like conflict and is more "patient" than Akutagawa. For me the top or bottom is simply which position they like more in "adult time", and Atsushi is a power bottom in my imagination.
