So, here is how the standings look now.

Our contestants have been halved after an eventful week, some matchups were a lot closer than i expected (Lil' Hal vs Blaine) And a few others I really underestimated how popular some of the bots were!

Special shoutouts to the enormous Jenny Wakeman, TEC and of course Hocotate Ship fans that I was really not anticipating when I made this

But enough talk, here are our matchups for Round 2:

Genuine question-- how did you create the Truth or Dare minigame? Is it basically running on dice rolls, or is it more of an if/then/else?

So it's basically based off the actual rules of Truth or Dare + a random dice roll! It goes like this:

Player starts the game off by picking a target (Target A) out of 6 possible Targets

Target A randomly rolls between Truth or Dare with a 50/50 chance (a d2, or 1 in 2 chance)

Player picks between two different selections of questions depending on whether the Target A picked Truth or Dare

A different cutscene plays depending on the question you picked and who Target A is

Target A then rolls a d6 (random number between 1 and 6) where each number represents one of the non-Player characters (1 is Tate, 2 is Laila, etc). If Target B is the same as Target A, it loops back to reroll again.

Cutscene plays out based on who Target A is and who the second d6 result is (Target B). This part is a if/then conditional matchup so: if Target A = Tate and Target B = Laila, play the TateAskingLaila scene, which is different than the LailaAskingTate scene, and so on. (I used strings b/c I'm insane but you can just use the numbers assigned to the Targets here).

NORMALLY (if I had time to write enough cutscenes, lmao) then Target B would ALSO roll a 50-50 chance at Truth or Dare, and I'd have double the cutscenes for Step 6. For time reasons, though, I just wrote specific cutscenes with one answer per scene (e.g. If Tate asks Laila, she always chooses Truth, etc).

Theoretically if you had time to write MORE scenes you could keep this game looping for a WHILE, but I chose to end with another random roll bumper (Target B rolls a d6 to pick Target C), which plays out a VERY SHORT cutscene before the power comes back on (Target B says: "Target C, I choose you! Truth or- BZZZZZZT")

On the subject of winning, there's no great equalizer like the arena itself. Be it mutts or an environmental feature. The skills and sustenance given to the Careers do still help. But a random skillset in some backwater district tribute can make a difference.

Not to mention from an in-universe perspective: obvious skills winning all the time is repetitive. Repetitive is boring. And thec last thing you want a bored Capitol.

give any victor a different arena and it could go another way, which is (let's get capitol for a second here) a BIG part of what makes it so fascinating -- and terrifying for the mentors. plus the most challenger could get Gamemaker waylaid if an outlier's narrative is the one that seizes the nation this year

so if someone does want to try out a Victor vs. Victor prime v. prime matchup and see it go either way, try it on different terrains or scenarios and see how it shakes out!

WIP Update - 31 Aug 2022

A fairly productive week  - I touched 6 fics (4 WIPs & 2 new works) for a total of  2024 words.   @psychiccatpanda  and I posted Chapter 4 of our Stucky --> Stuckony non-traditional a/b/o WIP  and a Steve POV ficlet where he learns about asexuality over on Ao3 and I wrote & posted  a Stony a/b/o ficlet for Flash Fiction Friday that also fills my Omega Steve square on  my Steve Rogers Bingo card.

I’m up to 12 active WIPs  (with a couple of maybe TBCs)  with my current   deadlines being my submission for the @reforgedzine  and  @avengersbingo .

See below cut for the WIPs  (arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc) I am working on  -   feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects   (or any other WIPs I’ve got out there) – they really help feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Suck-tember [ Runs thru 30 Sep]

As you might guess from the name,  @suck-tember​  is a writing event focused on oral gratification.   I read through the list of prompts and decided to try to combine a few with my bingo squares.

* Day 2: Swollen:  Finished the rough draft of Chapter 2 of Mutual Pinning    this morning;  it’s basically ThunderShield (Steve/Thor) smut with a focus on oral sex, leading into a third chapter of full on sex.   Currently sitting at 1361 words. 

Reforged - A WinterIron Zine [Deadline 12 Nov]

I got accepted to submit a  1k-3.5k fic for this project, and have submitted a basic idea & completed my first checkin.    Am poking at it little by little; it’s sitting at  1901 words - so  just over halfway done word-wise.   Plot wise? That’s still TBD…  I have very broad strokes in mind that are going to be tricky to get done in the words I have left…   :: eek::

Avengers Bingo [AvB] (Runs thru 24 Dec)

Five fills posted and 0 WIPs - I decided to further challenge myself on this 16-square card by pairing up each square with a unique combo of 2 original MCU Avengers, with the final square being PolyVengers. With the help of the STB Enthusiasts Discord folks - I’ve got all 16 squares  planned out, at least in terms of who to write about, and half of them have some sort of idea or crossover square to go along with them.
