Shani & Shukra - Daanav Planets

Saturn and Venus will be the topic of discussion today. Both belong to the Danav group. Let's first clarify what Devas and Danavas are before we begin our talk. Venus rules the second house (Taurus) in the Natural Zodiac, whereas Saturn rules the eleventh house (Aquarius). Both have a connection to finances and sources of income. Saturn's Shanidev reveres his guru Shukracharya (Venus). They are close pals. Saturn transforms into the YOGAKARAK and bestows good fortune and all the necessities of life to the native of Venus when Venus assumes control of the Ascendant in Taurus and Libra. Additionally, in Panoti and Sadesati, Saturn promotes the native. It is a natural Mitra Nakshatra or friendship star since it is the eighth Nakshatra in each of the three groups. From Shani Mahatmya – The Mythology Behind Rahu and Ketu

According to the best astrologer in India,The Shani Mahatmya is the narration of incidents that happened in the life of King Vikramaditya during his Sade Sati or seven and half year period of Saturn.  The Story So Far :

King Vikramaditya was a good, just, and gentle monarch who held talks and debates in his court on a regular basis. He once overheard a discussion on which of the planets was the best of them all. Each planet's representative stood up one by one and lauded his planet, proclaiming their planet to be the best of them all. The Sun's representative, Surya, was the first to speak. Following his speech, representatives from the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn each testified about why their planet was the finest. The Rahu representative rises up and talks at this point in the story.

 Introduction – Rahu And Ketu :

Rahu and Ketu, according to Rahu's spokesperson, are two nasty planets. They are the North and South nodes, according to him. They were Asuras at the time of their birth. Surya (the Sun) and Chandra's foes are Rahu and Ketu (the Moon). Fear overtakes the Sun and Moon when they come close to the nodes. They are well aware that the nodes will not spare them without a fight. The nodes obscure the Sun and Moon, causing them to be disturbed. The Sun is afflicted by Rahu, while the Moon is afflicted by Ketu. The nodes can overshadow the Sun and Moon, and they can also eclipse people's lives. People are bothered by the nodes, which are cruel.

 However, they can be pleased and appeased. One can please Rahu and Ketu through regular prayer and offerings. When Rahu is pleased he gives a person good health and mercy and no fear of snakes. When Ketu is pleased the person is blessed with spiritual knowledge.

Shani Mahatmya :

Rahu and Ketu's Past Lives

Swarbhanu, Rahu, and Ketu were formerly one. He was the son of Viprachitti Daanav and Sinhikaa, the Viprachitti Daanav's wife. Hiranyakashyap's sister was Sinhikka. Hiranyakashyap is best known as the father of Prahlad. Rahu is the severed head of this Asura, while Ketu is the trunk. Rahu instils fear in people's minds. He has a smokey complexion and lives in the woods. Ketu is a scary planet. Ketu wields a torch and a sword in his hands, while Rahu wears the half-moon on his head.Rahu is the ruler of lead and agate while Ketu is the ruler of turquoise and earth. Rahu is the minister of the Asuras and Ketu is the chief of the Asuras.

 Sage Durvasa’s Curse :

The Sage Durvasa once cursed the Devas, saying that they would lose all of their might and prosperity. As a result, the Asuras took control of the cosmos. The Devas were concerned and sought advice from Lord Vishnu. He told them that they were now weak and that fighting the Asuras would be futile. He advised them to exercise patience and diplomacy. Lord Vishnu also instructed them to churn the Ksheer Sagar, or Ocean of Milk, in order to get Amrit, the nectar of immortality. He promised them that only the Devas, not the Asuras, would be able to consume it.

 The Churning Of The Ocean – Samudra Manthan :

The Devas and Asuras formed two lines, one on one side and the other on the other, with the Asuras on one side and the Devas on the other. The Amrit was given to the Devas one by one by Mohini. As a result, one of the Asuras, Swarbhanu, disguised himself as a Deva and sat in the Deva line. Surya and Chandra immediately recognised Swarbhanu as a non-Deva when Mohini offered him Amrit and raised the alarm, through the eyes of the best astrologer in Kolkata. This is why the Sun and Moon dislike the nodes so much.

 The Split – Rahu And Ketu :

Lord Vishnu quickly cut off Swarbhanu's head with his Sudarshan Chakra. He did not die, however, because the Amrit had already been taken by the Asura. Instead, he split into two. The head was renamed Rahu, and the trunk was renamed Ketu. Rahu's blood became garlic when it dripped to the ground.

 This is why garlic possesses many Amrit-like qualities while simultaneously clouding the intellect in the manner of Rahu. Rahu and Ketu were given planet status by Lord Brahma. DAFUQ!!! Why am I seeing this post so late???? Kill me! Siyasat is on of my favorite historical fiction shows, it gives me the vibe of the late 80's DD shows where the research team knew what they were doing, in portraying the historical characters. EPIC is my all time favourite channel after DD. DD, DD News, EPIC and Sony are the only channels that we see on Television with family from the Hindi GEC lot. Zindagi was a nice channel, but you know after the Uri, it was made digital and pulled off. All of the programs on EPIC are so lovely. I was re-watching Daanav Hunters the other day. Everything is so classy about EPIC. 

We loved Ekaant and it came with S2 and the best part is the show’s script writer and host Akul Tripathi has been hired as the channel’s content head. And I am glad that he is doing a phenomenal job. Especially the Defence Programs and EPIC Specials are just worth it. I got to know that he was a part of KBC’s research team before. So, the stuff is definitely going to be of great quality. Even the comedy series, Yam Kisi Se Kam Nahi was too good, better than SAB channel’s shows. 

P.S : A rerun of Circus (feat SRK) on DD was being aired on Sundays 10pm

Rakshesamat, Demons and Artificial Demons

In my lore, there are three tiers of ‘demonic’ entities (pseudo-demonic in the case of Rakshesamat). 

First, the most powerful of the three: Rakshesamat. 

This would Henri, and an up-and-coming oc Sita Daanav Khasturanav. These are divine familiars, tied to the god of gods himself, Mortau. One of the first two Gods in existence. Because of this, they are insanely powerful, capable of taking any soul they come across to the Ordan afterlife. They are typically tethered to Mortau, but when they reject this tethering (like Henri) or Mortau is simply unavailable (like Sita), they can manifest in the physical world in two ways: tethering themself to a mortal (not necessarily deadly to the mortal, but often is) or by continually taking souls wihtout tethering. They don’t need contracts, they do, however, need consent from the tethered. They may seem as if they have no weaknesses, but here’s a big one: Just like faeries, they are subjected to ‘name magic’. Mortau keeps them tethered to him by, essentially, erasiong their name. They can break free either by remembering it or being told it, but not being aware of their name weakens them greatly. 

Secondly, we have ‘real’ demons, like Baphomet. Unlike Rakshesamat, they do need a contract to manifest and remain on the physical plane. but, unlike the artificial demons, they are not necessarily held by their word, nor do they need to be contracted at all times to remain there. The soul (and, often, body) of the initial contractor is enough. Demonic contracts are nearly 100% fatal, because demons usually seek out contractors to consume their souls and steal their bodies. Often they assume the identities of the deceased contractee. 

Thirdly, we have the artificial demons ( @argyrcs ). They are, by far, the weakest demonic entity in my lore. Unlike true demons and rakshesamat, they are entirely physical beings, and even have their own species and subspecies. They can exist in Hell perfectly fine, as it is a physical plane like the others in their pocket-contained universe.However, in order to be in the earth realms or in heaven, they need a contract. They are bound to their contractor, unable to resist a command, and branded by the magic of the contract. These contracts are rarely ever fatal for the contractor.

Since the house of Panchal is still on my mind, a dark modern-day Thalapathy style retelling of Drupad and his children. SRK is the dad (Yajna, for Yajnasena) to two children: Krishnaa (Zaria) and Satya (Ishaan, who’s honestly a mishmash of all Drupad’s sons). Their happy life is disrupted when Yajna’s wife is killed in a car accident: the guilty party is Guru, Yajna’s longterm friend, who turns out to be driving drunk. Try as he might, Yajna can’t forgive him, and recruits his teenage children to destroy Guru (who works as a sports master at an exclusive prep school), from getting Satya to challenge his pupils and Krishnaa to seduce them, while still pretending friendship and sympathy. Yajna fails to realize the effect this has on his children, however, including closeted Satya and increasingly guilty Krishnaa, with potentially tragic consequences....

(In the climax, Yajna finally sees what he’s done and pulls back before it’s too late, unlike the mythological Drupad; Guru, though, and/or his son does receive some sort of karmic punishment because I think that’s only fair.)

From Shani Mahatmya – The Mythology Behind Rahu and Ketu

 According to the famous astrologer in India,The Shani Mahatmya is the narration of incidents that happened in the life of King Vikramaditya during his Sade Sati or seven and half year period of Saturn. Listening to the Shani Mahatmya or reading it is a Shani remedy prescribed for those afflicted by Saturn. Here is a Shani Mahatmya summary of the section about Rahu and Ketu.

 The Story So Far:

King Vikramaditya was a good, just, and gentle monarch who held talks and debates in his court on a regular basis. He once overheard a discussion on which of the planets was the best of them all. Each planet's representative stood up one by one and lauded his planet, proclaiming their planet to be the best of them all. The Sun's representative, Surya, was the first to speak. Following his speech, representatives from the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn each testified about why their planet was the finest. The Rahu representative rises up and talks at this point in the story.

 Introduction – Rahu And Ketu:

Rahu and Ketu, according to Rahu's spokesperson, are two nasty planets. They are the North and South nodes, according to him. They were Asuras at the time of their birth. Surya (the Sun) and Chandra's foes are Rahu and Ketu (the Moon). Fear overtakes the Sun and Moon when they come close to the nodes. They are well aware that the nodes will not spare them without a fight. The nodes obscure the Sun and Moon, causing them to be disturbed. The Sun is afflicted by Rahu, while the Moon is afflicted by Ketu. The nodes can overshadow the Sun and Moon, and they can also eclipse people's lives. People are bothered by the nodes, which are cruel.

However, they can be pleased and appeased. One can please Rahu and Ketu through regular prayer and offerings. When Rahu is pleased he gives a person good health and mercy and no fear of snakes. When Ketu is pleased the person is blessed with spiritual knowledge.

 Shani Mahatmya:

Rahu and Ketu's Past Lives

Swarbhanu, Rahu, and Ketu were formerly one. He was the son of Viprachitti Daanav and Sinhikaa, the Viprachitti Daanav's wife. Hiranyakashyap's sister was Sinhikka. Hiranyakashyap is best known as the father of Prahlad. Rahu is the severed head of this Asura, while Ketu is the trunk. Rahu instils fear in people's minds. He has a smokey complexion and lives in the woods. Ketu is a scary planet. Ketu wields a torch and a sword in his hands, while Rahu wears the half-moon on his head.Rahu is the ruler of lead and agate while Ketu is the ruler of turquoise and earth. Rahu is the minister of the Asuras and Ketu is the chief of the Asuras.

 Sage Durvasa’s Curse:

The Sage Durvasa once cursed the Devas, saying that they would lose all of their might and prosperity. As a result, the Asuras took control of the cosmos. The Devas were concerned and sought advice from Lord Vishnu. He told them that they were now weak and that fighting the Asuras would be futile. He advised them to exercise patience and diplomacy. Lord Vishnu also instructed them to churn the Ksheer Sagar, or Ocean of Milk, in order to get Amrit, the nectar of immortality. He promised them that only the Devas, not the Asuras, would be able to consume it.

 The Churning Of The Ocean – Samudra Manthan:

The Devas and Asuras formed two lines, one on one side and the other on the other, with the Asuras on one side and the Devas on the other. The Amrit was given to the Devas one by one by Mohini. As a result, one of the Asuras, Swarbhanu, disguised himself as a Deva and sat in the Deva line. Surya and Chandra immediately recognised Swarbhanu as a non-Deva when Mohini offered him Amrit and raised the alarm, through the eyes of the best astrologer in India. This is why the Sun and Moon dislike the nodes so much.

 The Split – Rahu And Ketu:

Lord Vishnu quickly cut off Swarbhanu's head with his Sudarshan Chakra. He did not die, however, because the Amrit had already been taken by the Asura. Instead, he split into two. The head was renamed Rahu, and the trunk was renamed Ketu. Rahu's blood became garlic when it dripped to the ground. This is why garlic possesses many Amrit-like qualities while simultaneously clouding the intellect in the manner of Rahu. Rahu and Ketu were given planet status by Lord Brahma. According to the top astrologer in India, The Rahu and Ketu representative bowed before the magnificence of the two shadow planets who afflict people by obscuring their brains, he remarked.
