OKAY OKAY IF YOU INSIST-

So the idea is that scar is an alien from a planet which is basically just a big desert. There's not much to do on the planet, most of the life there stands still to preserve energy and water since it very rarely rains.

The animals usually have some kind of protection from the harsh suns (the planet has like 3 suns ive decided) - scales for example.

Scar and jellie, who is also an alien (she has 6 legs bcs I think that's cool as hell) like to burrow in the warm sand.

In 3rd life, Scar chose the desert because it reminded him the most of his home.

Scar also gets easily tired and needs to sleep much more than the others because his body is not meant for using up this much energy.

Another thing- recently I got the idea that when my 4 eared scar gets scared, the top ears cover the bottom ones, like this:

For my desert alien scar, this is a protective thing. The top ears are harsh and have scales, while the bottom ones are soft.

And my friend, @/titsful, had brilliant idea that the bottom ears are actually very sensitive and used for affection. Scars body is pretty harsh and he can't feel touch very well because of the protective scales, so, the bottom ears are what close friends or partners rub for affection.

I also thought that the ears are usually mostly slotted together, so people barely notice there's 2 pairs, but when hes comfortable with someone, when he trusts someone, the ears separate as a show of trust.

The art was done before the idea of the scales on the ears, but for visualisation, I'm putting the picture here.

I plan on drawing more of him, specifically focusing on the whole ear thing but.

HIII I’m back with another little thing for the Desert Alien Scar au :) This is Xisuma and Scar’s first meeting — X rescues a young Scar from his dying planet. Hope you like it!!!

The planet below him was dying, barely visible beneath the storm of sand and lightning. Xisuma stood alone in the viewing dock of his ship, a lone mourner at a quiet funeral. All the inhabitants had already evacuated, the emergency rocket's energy signatures gone from his radar. It was an empty world, and still Xisuma stood and waited.

Planets died all the time. Knowing that didn’t make it any easier to watch.

The monitor on his right beeped and trilled as it kept on with the readings, an alert popping up detailing the severity of the most recent earthquake. A separate window was tracking the storms. At the bottom was a rough estimate of how long it would be until the end. Only a few hours, now.

Xisuma fidgeted with the fabric of his gloves, flexing his hands as he stared out the window. There was nothing he could do but be a witness. Even he couldn’t save a planet.

A shrill tone from the monitor pulled him abruptly out of his musings, and his head snapped towards it, eyes narrowing slightly behind his helmet. A red light was blinking in the corner, small and steady. Xisuma’s heart tripped over itself and quickened, legs already carrying him towards the screen for a better look, hands outstretched to type commands.

A distress signal, coming from an empty planet on the brink of destruction. There was a large chance that it was just a malfunction, a product of the machinery short-circuiting in the chaos. It wouldn’t be the first time.

But something was telling him that wasn’t right.

His fingers flew across the keyboard as his eyes flickered across the screen. An image of the planet below popped up, spinning and zooming in until the location of the distress signal was displayed, a single red dot blinking in and out. With a flick of his hand, the coordinates copied itself onto the monitor on his wrist. Already halfway out the door, he opened communications.

“I’m taking the LifeBoat,” he said without preamble, cutting off chatter from the rest of the crew. “We received a distress signal, I’m going down to check it out.”

“It’s probably a blank, X,” said a crew member, voice solemn. “Are you sure?”

Xisuma clenched his jaw. “I’m going.”

He closed communications with a firm click of a button, the door to the departure bay sliding open before him. With practiced motions, Xisuma climbed into the cockpit of the LifeBoat, a smaller vessel designed for quick landings and takeoffs. Used for riskier rescues.

“LifeBoat 1, departing,” Xisuma said, opening comms again.

“…Cleared, Captain,” a voice responded. “Be careful. Come back alive.”

“Haven’t had an issue yet, my friend,” Xisuma responded, flicking a few switches and adjusting the controls. “I’ll be back in time for dinner.”

“I’ll hold you to it, sir.”

With a few loud clicking noises and a fair bit of shaking, the LifeBoat separated from the main ship. Coordinates displayed on the navigation system, Xisuma took the controls.

The landing would not win any awards for smoothness, but he had at least managed not to die on impact. It would likely take off again, according to diagnostics, though exiting through the storm would prove to be a challenge. A challenge for future him, though.

The evacuation center rose tall above him as he trudged through the sand and wind, all the escape rockets missing from their ports. Something in his stomach twisted slightly. It looked more haunted than anything had the right to be.

The door creaked horribly on its hinges as he pulled on it, grains of sand grinding in the mechanism and jamming it up. He opened it just enough to slip in, and the sudden absence of wind and sound made his fast heartbeat all the more apparent. He wiped at his helmet visor with gloved hands, brushing off the sand and dust blocking his vision as he walked further into the building. It was a huge space, empty and echoing. Every footstep bounced back at him louder.

Across the large room, something shuffled quietly. Xisuma froze, head swiveling. He heard it again.

“Hello?” he called tentatively, making his way closer.

A shadow in the corner — moved. Tucked into itself. The howling of the wind battered against the walls. On a nearby desk, a light was blinking. The distress signal.

“I’m here to help,” Xisuma continued, making his way closer. “I got your signal.”

The light of his helmet fell upon the figure, and Xisuma stopped short.

It was a child.

Not particularly young, but not yet reaching adulthood. His scales were still a lighter color, indicating that they were still soft, and his tail was curled in front of him protectively, shoulders hunched and knees bent. He was staring up at him with wide green eyes, chest rising and falling rapidly. Xisuma felt his heart squeeze painfully.

“It’s alright,” he said, palms raised in a calming gesture. “I’m going to get you out of here. Are you hurt?”

The kid didn’t respond, still staring at him with those same terrified eyes, lost to his own panic. He was shaking. So was the ground.

Xisuma knelt down, swallowing hard when the kid pressed himself harder into the corner, curling even further over his stomach. There was a scan on the screen inside his helmet, telling him that the air was barely breathable. The kid was scared. Xisuma took the helmet off.

“You sent a distress signal,” he said, urgent and gentle. The child blinked, and Xisuma let his voice soften even further. “I’m here to help.”

There was the slightest bit of hope in those wide eyes, and Xisuma wanted to see it grow, possibly more than anything in the universe.

“Let me help,” he said, begged, and then he waited.

The kid’s breathing stuttered, and slowly he uncurled from his hunched position, revealing what he’d been trying to hide. In his lap was a small creature, with large ears and narrowed eyes and three pairs of legs.

“Can she come?” The kid asked, in a voice young and wavering.

He was hugging her to his chest like she was the last thing he had in the world. She probably was.

“Of course,” Xisuma said, steadfastly ignoring the slight lump in his throat. Not very professional of him, but he couldn’t find it within himself to care. “Let’s all get out of here, yeah?”

The planet was breaking apart around them, crumbling and cracking and raging.

Xisuma put his hand out, and in the bravest act that he had ever witnessed, the kid took it.

Little by little. I was missing my original babies, when the verse wasn’t so large. And maybe it’s the impending doom that’s surrounding some of these babies that has got me a bit stressed out 😂 but I’m glad you enjoyed that sweet moment.

This leader claimed to be a stand-in or representative of God and later, the Christ come again to earth. This returned Christ gathered a group of 12 disciples, and the thousands that ended up following them in this homemade pseudo-Christian religion were called Disciples. Locals referred to the religion as Erliang Liang (one hundred grams of grain).

Several of Sai’s family members had become adherents of Erliang Liang, and the belief was spreading rapidly through the rural areas where few had the education or religious background to counter its teachings. Sai had heard little of Christianity himself, but the practices and teachings of Erliang Liang seemed strange to him. The authorities were very concerned about the spread of the religious group. Just to be sure, they increased the pressure on the more orthodox Christians as well.

Our good Father, crush the destructive influence of cults which advocate false teaching about Christ. Allow Christians to share the truth openly and stand firm.

I haven’t posted much lately, but I’ve fixed some links on several posts and I am writing some fanfiction - when the motivation hits - but I am writing.

So, to make up for that, here’s the opening section of the first chapter for the Differently Abled AU:

“You could at least wear the prosthesis,” said the angel. “Not every mortal missing a limb or two wears prostheses, you know,” retorted the demon. “True. But no one from the Mortal Realm has a prehensile tail and horns. This arm is a cloaking device,” said the angel throwing the prosthetic arm at the demon. “Wear it. I don’t want to keep chasing you when there are better things I could be doing.” “Better than chasing me? Roman, I’m shocked.” “Just wear the arm, Deceit.” “Lying is wrong, Roman. And hiding who I am? Well, that’s the worst lie of them all.”

I’m currently working on a Roy x Winry x Edward fic and it’s interesting trying to grasp the dynamics between Roy & Winry. There aren’t a lot of interactions between them to go off of and because the versions I’m writing are older—who have obviously gone through their own life experiences/events that makes them different from their OG characters—their canon interactions, as few as they are, become moot.

Even more, they’re both in a state of almost mourning and vulnerability when their interactions start in the story, making them different from their normal personalities amongst friends.

It’ll take so much more testing and figuring out to decide on their dynamic to a point where I’m satisfied but I’ve had so much fun writing the few scenes I have.

Alright!  Finally stopped dilemmaing over which to pick.  As promised/warned this is original and never-before-seen-on-tumblr.  Kai is my character, Karly (and Avil) belong to a friend (who does not have a tumblr).

Karly offered the box he’d spent the entire night carrying to Kai.  “This is your gift.  It’s, um, not really what I planned to get you.”  He ducked his head, shoulders curling in.  “But Avil thought it would be useful.”

“I’m sure he’s right,” Kai said.

Karly didn’t fully uncurl, but he raised his head enough to watch through his hair as she took the box and examined it.  It looked like iron-oak wood, and had either grown naturally, or been grown by a master who managed to recreate natural-looking grain perfectly.  A flame pattern was carved into the sides, and a half-raised spiral flame had been carved into the top.  The hinges were hidden, but the latch was copper, also flame shaped.  Kai flicked it open, and the lid refused to budge.

“It’s lined with metal,” Karly said.  “And the metal is sealed, so Vana can’t smell it.”

Huh.  Kai started to reach for the metal in the box, but then stopped and set the box down.  Karly looked nervous.

Kai cupped her hands together, and tried to make a candle flame in the center of them.

Instead she made a fireball that scorched her palms, and she hissed in pain as she clapped her hands together to snuff it out.  She turned both her hands up, examining them.

The light wasn’t great; and lanterns had been set up while Kai spoke to guests, but they didn’t quite make up for the setting sun.  Still, the burns didn’t look or feel that bad.  Blistered and red, but she still had skin.

“Are you okay?”  Karly sounded worried.  He’d forgotten to be ashamed, leaning toward her with his eyebrows pulled together and staring at her hands.

“Testing things,” Kai said absently.

Healing magic had earned its somewhat inaccurate name because, while it could do a seemingly infinite number of terrifying things, those things were complicated and very few people bothered to learn how to do them.  By far the easiest use of healing magic, and the one that all Rider Academy students learned early, was to simply feed magic to the body and let it do what it normally would much faster.

That method would work for the burns on her palms; if she refused to use magic or let anyone else heal her, they would heal on their own eventually.  There could be strange results of feeding her body vastly more healing magic than it needed.  Kai didn’t know of any, but she had never been interested in studying healing so that didn’t mean much.

If something did go wrong, though, it probably wouldn’t kill her.  Anything else a healer would be able to fix, so Kai focused on her palms, the way they looked and felt and the way they ought to.  The pain was distracting, but that was always true when healing herself.  She tried to concentrate on using the smallest amount of magic she could.

Her hands healed instantly, which startled her enough to lose concentration and the magic cut off.  Which might be a good thing, Kai decided as she opened and closed her hands, turned them over, and spread her fingers, checking to see if anything felt wrong.  Her palms felt staticky, like they’d fallen asleep, but that was probably just because of how fast the healing had been.  Still, she really didn’t know what would have happened if she’d kept feeding magic to her hands instead of being startled and cut off.

“Why are your nails longer?” Karly asked.

Kai blinked, and examined the nails on her left hand, then her right.  The difference was slight, but Karly was right.  Well, if that was the weirdest thing too much healing magic would do, that wasn’t bad at all.  She would have to trim them soon, but that was it.  “Extra magic, I think,” she said, and dropped her hands back to her lap.

Karly frowned at her.  “Did you know it would do that?”

Kai shook her head.  “I just did basic healing.”

“You’re supposed to stop that when it’s almost healed,” Karly said.  He sounded exactly like her teacher.  Former teacher.

“I know.”

“So that nothing bad happens,” Karly continued.

“Nothing bad did happen,” Kai pointed out.

Karly sighed.  “Next time let me do it.”

“You should open the box,” Kai said instead of disagreeing.  “I don’t know what too much magic would do to it, but it’s very nice and I don’t want to ruin it.”
