Heya, this is my first time doing a request but I was wondering if it was possible for you to do some Head cannons of Egon Spengler who has an autistic child? As I'm autistic myself and I rarely see any head cannons or one shots where the reader is autistic but obviously you don't have to do this it's just a request
:) (P.s your work is amazing you were basically the first person I followed on here because of your Egon Spengler one shots)
Hehehehduejdheh your to nice 😭
Egon Spengler with an autistic child:
makes sure all clothing is sensory friendly.
Makes a note of safe foods and foods you don’t like
Makes sure you stay away from the ectoplasm it gives him sensory overload so he can’t imagine what it would be like for you
Teaches you all he knows, makes sure he knows your special interests.
Listens to your info dumps about your interests, especially if it’s to do with paranormal activity or parapsychology
He knows the signs of overload or burnout. So he knows when to get you out of social situations
Always asks if he can have hugs or any form of affection
Peter is fuckep up. We know that, but he's so good at playing in the social place and switching moods. When they go taking the money at the bank, he's certainly the one doing all the process and the one looking clean. And when they buy the firehouse he looks like a dad asking the children " do you like the house ?" " do you see yourself in this bedroom?". And after he gauge between the two and BAM there is the firehouse.
He's a dad. He's the one directing the construction (when they put the signs ghostbusters), and when Ray found the car look at his face palm and bvrzifjok^dz$
I don't have the impression to be clear, I'm rambling. I'm dispersing myself (is that grammatically correct?,dispersing myself?) BUT
-> I like him when he act like this
"it just seems a little pricey" yes dad, I know you have to pay the charges and to nourish your kids
So it would of been my daddy’s 69th birthday today happy birthday daddy in heaven. What more do I need to do to cheer myself up is to look at these 3 cuties especially Egon and that puts a smile on my face anyday
TAGGED BY the dears @denerims, @chuckhansen, @marivenah, @dihardys, @leviiackrman, @adelaidedrubman, @belorage and @roofgeese to take this cutest uquiz for the loves! ty so much! <3
You are neither good nor evil, you play by your own rules. You are capable of living a great many years, and can accumulate plenty of wisdom throughout your lifetime. People might fear you because you may possess or seduce them, and are almost always likely to have the upper hand in a situation. This is fair, since you tend to be a trickster. Nonetheless, you are also honorable and will repay any debts and fulfill any promises you make.
DRAGON
You have a hard exterior, but you’re really a softie inside. You can be very confrontational and might pick fights here and there, but you also know when to yield and find a compromise with your enemy. Fiercely protective, you keep your most treasured belongings, people and memories close to your heart. Nothing can stop you when you’re feeling protective. You’ll come with the full force of fire and skies against anyone who threatens your kingdom.
LADY OF THE LAKE
Your past has not been kind to you and you come from tragic beginnings, but you are pure of heart and devoted to helping those who are as lost as you once were. In some ways, you might feel trapped where you are in life, but you are able to make the most of what is available to you. Ultimately, you are capable of great decisions and can decide who wields power. You choose to be loved rather than feared.
PARI (FAIRY)
Mischievous and cunning, you are a pretty-faced creature capable of deception, but ultimately good at heart. You cast love spells and weed your way into people’s lives, pulling strings. You are a lone wolf and a traveler, moving in and out of people’s lives seamlessly. But although you are ambivalent, your intentions are good. You may fall quickly in love with people but will be quick to leave them as your love may sting.
MERMAID
Your enchanting beauty would be enough to inspire the greatest artists, but you yourself are an artist as well. Unfortunately, it might get to your head a bit as your hold yourself in the highest regard in both looks and talent. You are deeply misunderstood and feel the need to compensate and are therefore constantly performing for people. People might accuse you of manipulation or lying, and at times it’s difficult for you to reflect on what you’ve done wrong.
GNOME
You are a bit of a homebody and can be quite timid, but you’re always on people’s paths. Everyone who meets you likes you. Sticking to one place suits you, and you aren’t very open to major changes. You can be quite crafty and inventive, people come to you when they need help fixing things. You are also a trustworthy guard of people’s homes and secrets.
[A busting seems to reveal that Walter Peck is dead, and the finger points to Egon].
Egon: If I had really wanted to kill Peck, I wouldn’t have done it in a crowded room full of potential witnesses that I invited. I would have been far more inconspicuous, perhaps learning a foreign language to throw off anyone within earshot. Mandarin, probably. Then I would have followed him home from the EPA offices on a Tuesday, because he uses the back entrance off of Pratt Street, and to further confound authorities, I would have planted something inscrutable, like the feather of a Brazilian peacock or the rind of a fruit grown only in Papua New Guinea. At which point-- I would...
[Peter, Ray, and Winston give him a look that says “Keep your mouth shut!”]
*Sals face fell when she headed downstairs Christmas Morning at the firehouse. Neither her father nor uncles were actually home. Her Aunt Janine was however. She had a hot mug of tea waiting for the girl.
Janine felt bad for the young girl. She was only 14 nearly 15 and her father was barely home. She’d found out about her father through the ghostbusters ads and a very weird family tree test she had conducted herself.
She sipped the tea and sat on the couch staring at the television screen. Christmas morning and it wasn’t cheerful. The sound of Ecto-1s sure perked Sal up and she put her now empty and cold mug on the coffee table. She poked her head out of the living room watching the Ecto-1 back into the firehouse. Judging by the nasty smell and the amount of ectoplasm that covered the interior of the Ecto and her dad and uncles, it had been quite a big infestation.
After everyone was changed and showered, and ghosts disposed of, Sal sat by the Christmas tree waiting for everyone to be there. Christmas was precious to her. It was the only time she got any attention or affection when she was living with her mother. Ray smiled and ruffled her hair handing her a squishy present.
She opened in and her eyes widened as she ripped into the paper revealing a tan jumpsuit with a fresh black and red name tag glaring up at her ‘STANTZ’ in big bold letters. She looks back up at Ray and he grinned, sipping the tea that Janine had made him
Being born during the groups college days, and just adding a dose of daily chaos to their otherwise uneventful studies.
Three men and a baby. Enough said. It's absolute pandemonium.
Ray being the mother hen. Egon being the irresponsible father, and Peter being the fun uncle.
You have an entire family, even if not by blood.
Ray bringing you to college with him, and multitasking because he can't afford childcare.
Him using you as someone to rattle off all his theories about the occult and paranormal to before you can even crawl.
Peter uses you as a 'mini wing-man'. Women flock to him because they think you're his child and find the fact that he's a seemingly decent single dad attractive. (GIRL, IT'S THE BARE MINIMUM) Peter being himself, of course, doesn't bother to correct them.
Constant compliments being directed towards you by women, to which Peter's reply is always the same.
'Mhmmm, yeah, they get their looks from their father' *insert cocky, arrogant smirk*
Ray then reminding him that he's not actually the father.
'Oh, no, I know, I was complimenting you, honey' *cocky, arrogant smirk still in place, this smug guy knows exactly what he's doing*
Ray immediately becoming quiet and turning a bright, red colour, stumbling, tripping, collapsing over the English language, of which he's usually quite eloquent with. Then picking you up in his arms, and walking off muttering variants of profanities and insults directed at Peter
This section was greatly inspired by a ficlet my friend, @xraylovers wrote for me :) Thanks for letting me use your idea bestie.
Egon views you as a science experiment... problems ensue.
Days spent leaning over old occult books, the dusty aroma worn like a birthday badge as a testament to the age of the journal drifting into his child's face as Ray carefully reads each line.
Him having no concern as to whether this is proper bedtime story material for a 5 year old, as long as their happy, which, judging from the small inquisitive smile and plethora of questions asked, they most definitely are.
Ray is so excited to have a mini replica of him, just as interested in the occult as he is, someone to share his special interest with and experience the excitement and wonder of it all for the first time through their eyes.
Peter looking upon Y/N as his niece/nephew and calling them 'Baby Stantz' or 'The Littlest Ghostbuster' or variations upon. All the while, Y/N constantly complaining about wanting to be a Ghostbuster now.
Naturally, Peter buys a mini Ghostbusters suit with 'Baby Stantz' custom inscribed as the name tag, as well as a toy replica proton-pack. Which Egon promptly turns into a miniature, but fully-working proton-pack... until Ray confiscates it, sharing some harsh words with Egon about children's safety.
'Ray, I was merely teaching Y/N the proper way to operate a proton pack to prepare them for when they become a Ghostbuster'
'EGON! You can't give a child an unlicensed nuclear accelerator!'
Winston becoming the only semi-normal parental figure you have: Egon knows nothing about children, your dad is an extreme mother hen, and Peter is... himself.
Your dad would often take you out in the Ecto-1, wheels spinning, sirens blaring (after you begged ro have the sirens on, and every time he agrees because he has no backbone when it comes to you). You roll down the window and hold your hand out, letting the air rush through your fingers in quick succession as you take in the sights of New York City.
Despite his initial protest, when you became a little older and he realised how serious and passionate you were about following in his footsteps, your dad taught you how to use a proton pack and ghost trap (while supervised of course!) in the basement. While others your age were playing sports or video games, you were being taught how to wrangle ghosts and spirits.
Despite the dangers and challenges of being a Ghostbuster, you've always been proud of your dad and your family. They're not just heroes to the world, they're heroes to you, too.
It was unexpected for me that Claudia, Jonas, Noah and Elisabeth ended up being the post-apocalypse group, but the four of them fit so well together.
They don't really had screentime together, but I can't stop thinking about the apocalypse family and how much they can relate to each other.
Each one of them lost their naivety when they discovered time travel and learned a little more about the reality of their world, but they lost their innocence when they experienced the reality of their dads death.
Each member of the group carries the guilt for the death of their dads.
Noah literally killed his dad, influenced by sic mundus.
Claudia tried to prevent her dad's death and accidentally caused it.
Jonas was led to believe that he could prevent his dad's suicide when in fact he was the trigger.
Elisabeth was not to blame for her dad dying, but she probably felt guilty that he died trying to protect her.
They were completely broken, and the person who came to comfort them and give them hope was a member of the apocalypse family.
After Bartosz died, Noah told his younger self that he knew how it felt and that the pain of what he had done would pass. Noah knew that wasn't true. It would be a pain he would never forget. Since he was the one who had defined the irony of his dad's fate, it had only become more painful.
Claudia met Jonas for the first time after what happened with Egon, and she realized that she couldn't change things. Jonas appearead and let her know that they could change things. This happened after Jonas had spent a year traveling with an older version of Claudia.
Jonas met Claudia for the first time when he realized that he wasn't there to stop his dad and that his attempt to save him had failed again. At that moment, Claudia came and told Jonas that he could save them all. So Jonas goes to spend a year with Claudia learning about time travel.
After Peter dies, Elisabeth only knows of a place somewhere in the woods where Noah stays, and Noah only knows that he would protect her. In the cave, they find the passage, and Noah tells Elisabeth about paradise. Their connection gave them hope. Even when Noah felt hopeless himself, he only wanted to give Elisabeth hope.
They just tried to give them some comfort. In one of their darkest moments, they were there for each other and tried to never give up hope.
Also everything that losing their moms represented for them.
Silja died when Noah was very young and apparently Bartosz became distant.
When Doris left, Egon started to drink. It was probably at that moment that his relationship with Claudia became colder.
Their relationships with their dads deteriorated when they lost their moms. A disagreement resulted in the death of their dads. Noah and Claudia eventually saw their dads again, but it was a younger version of their dads who didn't yet recognize that version of them as their kid.
I think it is similar with Elisabeth and Jonas.
The first thing Jonas did when he got home was look for his mom, and he couldn't find Hannah. He probably thought he couldn't save his mom just like he couldn't save his dad.
Peter and Elisabeth were still trying to find Franziska and Charlotte, and after months she just thought they were dead. When her father died, I don't think there was any hope of seeing her mother again.
For years, Jonas and Elisabeth probably assumed that their moms had died in the apocalypse. It was unexpected the way they were reunited with their moms, and the revelations that came from it.
This group is so interesting to me because they experienced many years of friendship and then all that was left was betrayal. Although I will never forget all those years of friendship that I never saw.
I would just like to sit here and analyze the shit out of Peter and Egon for a second. Thanks.
Disclaimer! I know there is some disagreement on Mr.Venkman'e name. On the Ghostbusters fan wiki, they call him Jim. I personally have seen him called Charlie more consistently so I'm sticking with it.
Peter and Egon have been friends the longest (canonically) seeing as Peter introduced Ray and Egon later on in college. So of course Peter and Egon have this sort of unspoken understanding and special understanding of each other.
Like, I especially like to look at the "angstier" episodes of RGB (yes I know RGB and GB1+2+Afterlife+Frozen Empire are different canons but just let me cook here.) Specifically, any episode involving Charlie Venkman (Peter's father.) We know that Peter has a... rocky relationship with his father.
In the episode "Cold Cash and Hot Water", Peter and Egon are a lot less obvious but still fairly present in their relationship. Egon is the first to inquire about the phone call between Peter and Charlie. When they're leaving Alaska, Peter says goodbye to his dad. And while he has to clear his throat to get Egon to stop talking to his father (and Egon of course takes the hint to wait in the plane) we see him waiting at the door, watching for Peter.
There are plenty of other instances I could go into, how the two have inside jokes, the fact that Egon will consistently mess with Peter but rarely the rest of the team, the entire segment where Peter gets up in the morning and mumbles incoherently and the joke is that Egon translates, etc etc. Peter and Egon are more consistently in physical contact and overall tend to communicate the best.
Honestly, I could go on and on about them. My friends already know this (Milo you poor man) but I'll call it here for this post. Definitely will continue to post more about them. I have screencaps and what not that will be talked about more in depth, don't worry.
This was originally a reblog on one of @phoebeejeebies posts but I'm still internally screaming about it so you can now suffer with us! (if you want more context go read theirs first)
OK! I NEED TO RANT BECAUSE BRAIN ROT OF THIS SCENE AND THE IMPLICATIONS HAVE NOT GONE AWAY SINCE I LEFT THE THEATER!
Phoebe takes the chess set with her, knowing no one will be there because it's night time. She does all of this as if it is a routine she does once a week. It doesn't feel like a spur of the moment decision. This is something she has done multiple times since moving to New York.
Now we do need to mention, she is a fifteen year old alone in New York City at night in a park. That is a really stupid thing to do alone in any city at night no matter your age. The repetitive nature with which she does this suggests to me that she isn't worried about this because she knows that she isn't alone.
I have yet to listen to the soundtrack for GFE, but I have an ear for music cues and reprises (Infinity War and Endgame were music goldmines for me and I remember losing my mind at the music choices in the theater, so much so that my silent nerding out annoyed my dad). Somehow, without knowing that the reused the first bit of Chess, I recognized what the tune implied along with Phoebe's actions.
I don't remember who plays first, but when the other chess piece moves, she looks around as if she's looking for someone. Again! Keep in mind, this is a weekly occurrence. She isn't confused because she's playing chess with a ghost, she's confused because Egon has yet to materialize.
When Melody materializes, Phoebe is disappointed that it isn't him. You can see it in her face. This is something sacred that she does with her grandfather once a week. Something her family doesn't know about. Ok, maybe Trevor knows.
If Egon did/does actually come back to visit, you can't tell me he only spent time with Phoebe. He literally helped Trevor fix the Ecto in GA, he was supervising Trev the entire time. There's even a small moment when the Ecto is going through the field that you can see the silhouette of another person in the car through the back windshield. I highly doubt Egon would let his grandson do something so reckless unsupervised. (Yes this was probably a camera man or a member of the stunt crew or something, but if it were, wouldn't they have removed it?)
After being benched, Phoebe needs someone to talk to, someone who will understand, and he isn't there. Instead, there's this ghost of some girl that's on fire and, oh, she's kinda cute...
NOW! IF this is something Phoebe and Egon do regularly (as is implied), why isn't he there?
I think, he heard about Garraka down some spiritual grape vine and knows that the ice age personified can control other spirits, or maybe he read something about it during self imposed watch duty in Summerville. The only reason Melody isn't being controlled like a puppet is because she made a deal with Garraka. Egon would know how dangerous being around the orb is.
These are his friends we're talking about. This is his family! He left to protect them by standing on the front line when no one else would. They are his world at this point. If his being there even as a ghost is what will put them in danger, then he is going to stay the fuck away if it will keep them safe.
The night after everything has thawed, I'd like to think that Phoebe went out at night and went back to the park without the chess set. He was waiting for here there, ready to comfort her in the way he couldn't a few days before.
*takes a deep breath, then screams* AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw Frozen Empire, so obviously I have to talk about it. Spoilers ahead.
Also disclaimer that these are my personal feelings, so if we disagree that's okay too!
So, overall I would rate the movie as good. Not my all time favorite in the franchise, I think that will always go to the original, but I enjoyed it. The story could have used a little work in some parts, but hey, nothing is perfect.
Favorite part of this whole movie: one Dr. Raymond Stantz, hands down. He is so cute as an old man-child whose enthusiasm hasn't waned the least bit over the years. Honestly, in Afterlife he seemed like he'd become cynical, but here his true nature really rang through. And I adore him being a mentor for Phoebe and the other younger characters, while also getting into mischief with them. That little sparkle in his eye when Phoebe asks "Aren't you retired?" No, Ray is never retired, he will always be ready to suit up.
I also loved in the police station when Phoebe was standing up to Dickless Peck, Ray had this face like he was so proud, like he could see Egon in her, memories of him saying "YOUR MOTHER!" 😆
The other thing I liked about the movie was the expansion of the Ghostbusters as a business, with the research lab. First off, I love that Winston, the one who didn't even believe in ghosts when he was hired, is now almost like the CEO of the company. But also, it opens up more possibilities for this new era and allows for more playing with the world building. Though I feel like it was a wasted opportunity to put in some easter eggs for TRGB. Unless the ghosts featured were in the (*shudder*) Q5 episodes, I didn't recognize any of them from the show. Then again, I guess they're newer ghosts so that wouldn't make sense, but maybe they could have been similar kinds of ghosts. Just as a small reference.
Other favorite parts include:
-The near-lesbian romance between Phoebe and Melody
-Ray smuggling the Mini Pufts from Oklahoma (because of course he would)
-Also just the Mini Pufts in general (why are they so violent?)
-The way Ray's face lit up when Peter came to the firehouse
-Peter being proud that Ray quit smoking
-Peter's unwavering faith that Ray's idea is good and will work, and saying they all trust him
-The library ghost (did they never go back to get her???)
-Gary saying the words to the theme song
-Janine in uniform!
-Slimer eating the pizza with the posesser ghost in it
Now, onto the areas that I felt were not as strong. First of all, I found it wild that Phoebe was being ousted by everyone without any kind of fight. She's the one that started the whole thing up again, she's got the passion, she's got the brains, she's got the glasses and the curls! Her mom says a grand total of NOTHING to defend her in Peck's office, and they all just accept that she can't be a Ghostbuster anymore. Yeah, they don't want to get sued, but it's just weird to me that they don't even seem like they feel that terrible that she got benched. Callie and Trevor are very callous about the whole thing. Only Gary seems like he gives a shit, and he's not even her dad. The way Phoebe's benching ended wasn't all that satisfying either. It would have been nice for the other three to maybe struggle a little without her, realize they need her to balance the team, and try to find a way to get her back. Winston was really the one that got Peck off their backs in the end, no thanks to anyone else (also, I'm pretty sure in that scene, someone in the crowd yells 'dickless' 😆).
Side note, I really don't like Callie's character that much. I think she's self-centered and doesn't seem to care about the kids' feelings unless the situation becomes dire. Maybe she does deep down, but mostly her attitude about everything stinks. Idk, I wouldn't care if she wasn't in the movie at all.
Anyway, back to the plot. I liked the idea of Phoebe's plotline. I wish they'd gone all the way and had her and Melody kiss, I really thought that was coming when she separated from her body. But I have an issue about that particular moment. The decision to suddenly put herself in the chamber like that seemed to come out of nowhere, at least I thought so. They made it like Melody was supposed to be the one tricking her into doing it, but she really never said anything to convince her. Phoebe just decided on her own to try it. I know she mentioned a couple of times wondering what it would feel like to be a ghost, but it wasn't a strong enough buildup to such a risky move. Honestly, when she asked Ray about him wanting to be a ghost, coupled with Winston saying Ray was going to get himself killed, I thought they were foreshadowing killing Ray (and thank God they didn't!).
They also hint at Phoebe specifically being the one that needs to be used but why? Anyone could have been tricked into the chamber and been controlled by Garaka for the chanting.
But moving on from that, the other issue I have is with the firemaster. He was a little too good at controling the fire after what, a couple of hours of practice? I think the character could still work, he could still be a quirky weird guy, but I think I would have made him more of a reluctant inheritor of his grandma's powers. Maybe he struggles with it at first and he figures he can sell the artifacts to Ray to get rid of the responsibility. Then later he can finally accept his fate to help beat Garaka when he starts believing in himself.
Those are the only major parts that I felt could have been tweaked. Besides that, I would have loved to see Slimer and Ray get a moment, just as a nod to their friendship in the show, but I guess they want to stick to one continuity. Of all the things they could have referenced from the show, though, it had to be the Junior GB 😆 It was just a throwaway line, but still, I don't want to remember they were a thing.
Tl;dr, the movie was good and there were a lot of parts I really enjoyed. For the parts that were weak, I'm confident there will be another in the future, so hopefully they'll keep improving.
Also, who the hell voted for Peck to be mayor? I bet he rigged the election.
Warnings: minor frozen empire spoilers, mentions of food, ghost!egon spengler.
Summary: phoebe wants to be a ghostbuster again and complains. basil and egon are, annoyingly, no help.
Notes: yeah, i hate thinking about egon being dead but to be honest this universe exists mostly for shenanigans so i'm letting that slide. (also, please, ignore that this has little/to no plot. i just heard callie's 'ghost grandma' line while watching the movie for the first time, and knew i had to reference it in some way at some point - which is now, apparently. i'm also sorry that she kinda just...disappears from this? callie, babe, i feel so bad about that. i love you. i promise i won't do you dirty in the future. <3)
‘It’s not fair.’ Phoebe groaned.
‘Maybe you can spend the next few years being an actual teenager.’ Callie suggested.
‘Yeah, well, if this was the 18th century, then I’d already be a part of the workforce and I’d have four kids.’
‘So sweet. I’d be a ghost grandma.’ Callie said, before sliding down the fire pole with Phoebe following behind.
‘Basil? Thoughts?’ Phoebe asked, once she’d reached the bottom and Callie had disappeared into the kitchen.
(Basil, who had been leaning against a desk as he absent-mindedly chewed on a pen while lost in thought, looked up at the sound of Phoebe's voice.)
‘That’d make you a ghost great grand-dad.’
‘Oh, now I feel old.’ He said, taking the pen out of his mouth and pocketing it.
‘You are old.’ Phoebe dead panned as she walked past him.
‘Rude.’ Basil murmured.
But then, as if he’d forgotten what he was currently doing, Basil looked past Phoebe and saw the food Gary was cooking.
‘Ooh, tacos!’
‘And, apparently, also very easily distracted.’ Phoebe mumbled, unhappily, as Basil floated over to a stool by the stove and sat down.
‘It runs in the family.’ Egon murmured, as he entered the room through a nearby wall.
‘Hi, Egon. Come to side with my mother and chastise me as well?
‘No, actually, somebody mentioned the idea of movie night.’ He replied. ‘But, I am not helping you sort this out. That, you will have to do on your own.’
‘Fine.’
‘Now,’ Egon asked, pushing his glasses up his nose. ‘Can anyone tell me what we’re watching?’
