EPISODE 10: OCEAN
Mmm, delicious cameo crumbs
We're off to the Second Demon World, but not before we see Majin Kuu in action against Tamagami Number One! The Tamagami's a sword-wielder and... Kuu doesn't really have anything special to offer besides being absolutely going animal. He's got a few basic energy attacks, a few from the mouth, but I'd be curious to see how they stretch this guy into a Sparking Zero moveset.
With the Gendarmerie plane, they could very reasonably skip straight to the final boss, but they're on a Dragon Ball hunt and Gomah has a long term plan for plan for Dende, so the rescue mission is priority 2.
World 2 has much lighter air and is a big wide ocean like the episode title suggests, chock full of krakens! I like how it has the little Majin Buu hair swirl. It also has a bunch of floating mini planets in the atmosphere- so after we lose the plane again to the rest of the Gendarmerie (who Goku mows down with ease now that he's faster) and a giant kraken, it's off to Even Older Namek to recuperate... and no one's home.
Meanwhile with the B Team (don't have to call them that for much longer), Hybis wants to swipe Bulma from Vegeta and there's some brief debate of whether Bulma wants to be part of the back to normal wish. Bulma's gushing over her clear skin, but Vegeta's insistent on them growing back up together also, he's implied to a boobs man
"We're already married!" "I don't mind." Hybis polyamorous confirmed?
Also, the subs had Vegeta call Goku "stupid Kakarot", but... I definitely heard a kusottare. ...Yeah, he didn't call him "stupid".
Everyone seems to forget that Piccolo was born on Earth- c'mon, Goku and Bulma should know this. He does seem to have some vague nostalgia, so maybe there's a bit of King Piccolo and Kami poking in.
Goku briefly recalling how he blew up Old-But-Newer-Than-This-One Namek, Frieza got a few more cameo frames!
Meanwhile, Majin Kuu failed his task and tries to get Arinsu to reconsider firing him- he's still good for shopping! Are we going to keep cooking Majins until one works. What other wacky designs do we have in store?
Now that everyone's all together, it's time for the lore dump!
Turns out the main universe was not made by Zeno or even the Great Priest but the Super Majin (not making this title up) Rymus. And the multiverse is still a thing! The Glinds were sent to the individual numbered universes- we got all the Supreme Kais! No confirmation of any Gods of Destruction, but...
Someone wake the Gowasu blog! There he is!
AND OUR BOY FUWA!! I will take whatever Universe 6 content I can get, even if it's just the Kai, I love my cameo light snack.
Turns out the Glinds are a dying breed now that the trees have died out.
Even so, it's time to hit the road again towards the next Dragon Ball... Only for Neva the geriatric Namekian to come creeping up...
Next episode: We check back in with Arinsu and the next Tamagami fight commences- this time, Vegeta gets to take a swing!
EPISODES WITHOUT KNOWING HANVI'S WHEREABOUTS: 10

Talking about anime, time to mention the shows I’m watching this season:
Tumblr media
Dandadan
I remember trying the manga when it first came out, dropped it after the second chapter since I fucking hate high school shit, but the anime looked well animated and the intro kicks ass, so I gave it a second chance and hooooly shit, it’s really fucking good! The start is indeed sloppy, but once aliens and spirits make their debut, it’s all uphill from there!
Great animation, characters and fight scenes galore, plus a surprisingly heartfelt and tragic story in the seventh episode, 10/10 so far!
Tumblr media
Ranma 1/2
I grew up with the OG series, so it holds a special place in my heart, and man if the remake hasn’t disappointed me in the slightest! Great animation, amazing music, the characters feel even more charming than before, and even Akane got toned down from her bitchy self I still clearly remember from way back when.
Apparently the adaptation is much closet to the manga than the OG series, hence why it has faster pacing and somewhat more mellowed characters, and after reading that that means that piece of shit happosai is no longer becoming a recurring nightmare, I can honestly say I’m even more excited for this one !
Tumblr media
Dragon Ball Daima
I’m latino, if I don’t watch this I’ll be banned from ever enjoying arepas again… Naw, I’ve been watching Dragon Ball for basically all my life, so of course I have to watch this one, plus OG DB was always my favorite, and this one truly captures the essence of that story!
Also, since its kid Goku again, his stupidity, which Super turned up to 11 for no good reason, finally makes in-universe sense, so that’s another plus!
Tumblr media
TsumaSho
What everyone, myself included, wrote off as yet another ultra degenerate anime, this time about a dead wife reincarnating as a 10-year okd child, turned out to be quite the wholesome, if ultimately tragic (especially after the last episode ) series about a broken family of a dad and an adult daughter slowly recovering from 10 years of grief and darkness after the said death wife AND mother comes back and basically tells them ā€œtime to get your shit together you stupid idiotsā€, which, they do.
The mom character is the best, as while she’s reconnecting with her old family, she has to deal with her new one in the form of a broken divorced mom who keeps unintentionally hurting her, all because her own home life was a living nightmare, while her love life is nothing but betrayals.
It sorta reminds me of the weird telenovelas I used to watch at a friend’s house, but in a good way, don’t let the weird premise drive you off, it is not perverted in the slightest!
And that’s about it! I tried another anime about a slime girl, dropped it one episode in (I didn’t like its humor), then another about a sentient robot arm thing, dropped it after the third episode (mainly because the tone was all over the place), and another about the fan of a magical girl accidentally becoming evil, kinda like THAT degenerate anime from the beginning of the year, only not degenerate, gave it a try because of that, turned out to be the most boring shit I’ve ever watched in a long while.
Honestly, this season has been weak in terms of number of good shows, but man the ones that are actually good are FANTASTIC!

Forever obsessed with how Goku's and Shin's relationship evolves. When Goku met Shin, he and the Z fighters were weary of his presence, enough to make Piccolo even scared to fight him because of his status. It went from being scared of him, threatening him, basically using him as an uber to get around universes and worlds, having to carry the unconscious form of Shin out of Zeno's palace, stressing him to his limits at the Tournament of Power, sharing a bed, and now to Shin looking utterly proud of the Saiyan.
Tumblr media
(Ofc I know Daima happens before Super so it's not in chronological order, but I don't have the energy to use my brain at 10:23 pm.)
I do see that Goku has a lot of trust in Shin, despite only meeting the Kai once or twice. (At this point in Daima I believe Goku may have only seen Shin during the Buu arc up to this point, since they were fused, and Daima takes place shortly after Z) And even in Super. Despite meeting Zamasu and Goku Black, knowing how Zamasu could have turned even despite no one knowing until chaos was struck in the future. Yet still they've shared meals (or tea) and a bed with each other.
Tumblr media
Goku's even trusting him with his power pole. (Shin seems surprised in my opinion.)
Tumblr media
Though this may have something to do with the fact that, even if Shin tried anything, Goku knows he's too weak compared to the Saiyans to do much. (Proven in Z)
Tumblr media
And who knows what else will happen in Daima as the show progresses. Personally, I want an episode or two focusing on the Kai's relationships with Goku and/or his own siblings. I want to see why they resent him, why he's dodging questions left and right about his race and himself, and why he seems to be more connected with Goku in Daima. Sadly, episodes 11 and 12 seem to have overshadowed Shin with the arrival of the Z fighters. But let's just hope and pray it doesn't stay that way! 🫔
So sad that episode 13 was delayed because of the holidays... Now just waiting for the next Friday to come around. 😭

Ep. 10 of Dragon Ball Daima
This show CONSISTENTLY keeps fixing the gaps in lore that I've wanted fixed for years and they keep doing that in one fell swoop. There's definitely more to be revealed as the show goes on, but right now I am in desperate need of gushing over the lore in the show.
1st off: Namekians being demons AGAIN.
Tumblr media
The fact that Demon King Piccolo proclaimed he was the Demon King but was then was later revealed to just be an alien always had a few holes in it. The main one being, where tf did Piccolo get those demonic powers?? How the Hell did Piccolo even come up with the name of Demon King??? Now in Daima we have our answer, as Namekians are demons and come from the Demon Realm. Hell, even in this episode it's revealed that Katatsu (Piccolo and Kami's father) came from the Demon Realm and moved to Namek. The reason they all left was because "Namekians don't like to be ruled" and that implies the "ruler" in this case was the Supreme Demon King. Which is basically confirmed in this episode as Shin(Nahare) tells the story of the Namekians and how they were treated as little more than slaves when they lived in the Demon Realm due to their magical abilities. So now wtv DK Piccolo or Kami or even Piccolo Jr. Has done with magic can be attributed to their Demonic ancestry.
2nd: The God Hierarchy had been fixed!!
Tumblr media
I've had issues with the God hierarchy for a LOOOOOOONG time with my gripes about it getting worse and worse over time. But, somehow, Daima had managed to quell my rage. Apparently, the Demon Realm was the first place that EVER existed, and the multiverse was created after the fact by one Demon named Rymus. Rymus created the entire multiverse and many Demons left the Demon Realm in order to populate it. I'm so fucking glad Rymus exists, cuz I FUCKING HATE XENO. Xeno is just a Destroyer God and the fact that there was no creator to balance him out irked me heavily. BUT NOW WE HAVE THIS CUTIE PATOOTIE RYMUS WHO CREATED AN ENTIRE MULTIVERSE. And the rest of the hierarchy falls into place now. The system was created top down, with the big guy Rymus coming first and then the other Gods coming later. Shin says that Glind are chosen to be Supreme Kai and then live on a planet close to where Rymus is (I assume this is the land of the Kais). The issue I had was because it felt like each new series had to just keep adding levels of Godhood for some reason that muddies up the system, but now it makes a lot more sense to me. The Kai act as balancers and maintain the universe at multiple levels and ofc the best option for the job are Demons cuz they don't come from that Realm to begin with.
Ik this was a yap sesh but I NEEDED to gush about this cuz no one else ik has watched DB, much less Daima. I have SOOOOOO much more to say but imma stick a pin in that for when the series is probably over and I have the entire shoe to yap about šŸ˜‹. See ya!!

With Magilumiere S1 finished, here's how individual episodes ranked in Japan's Top 10 TV Animation ranking over the past few months (scores in "average household ranking"):
Week of October 7: Episode 1 — 2.7%, 7th place
Week of October 14: Episode 2 — 2.3%, 10th place
Week of November 4: Episode 6 — 2.4%, 9th place
Week of November 18: Episode 8 — 2.6%, 6th place (tie)
Week of November 25: Episode 9 — 3.0%, 5th place (tie)
Week of December 2: Episode 10 — 2.8%, 7th place
Week of December 9: Episode 11 — 2.5%, 9th place
Week of December 16: Episode 12 — 2.7%, 7th place
Usually every week, the top ranking animation programs tend to be classic long-running children's shows like Sazae-san, Chibi Maruko-chan, Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, and Detective Conan. Below those, One Piece, the yearly PreCure, and Dragon Ball (Kai, Super, and now Daima), tend to rank most weeks.
The leftover spots on the ranking tend to be split over seasonal anime. For example, this Fall 2024 anime season, Blue Miburo has been ranking abnormally high, even as high as third place for the week of December 15. In the Winter 2024 season earlier this year, Frieren and Apothocary Diaries ranked high for a few weeks.
Going back to this Fall season, Magilumiere has had two-thirds of its episodes rank within the Top 10 Weekly Animation rankings. And of the last two episodes, it has even ranked above Wonderful PreCure (Episodes 10 and 12 outranked One Piece as well). That's incredibly insane, and if a Season 2 annoucement hadn't already been made prior to the finalized rankings, I would have said this boded really well for a second season. This is truly the best original Magical Girl anime of the year.

Episode 20 of Daima was amazing from beginning to end it was so exciting to watch! I thought the animation couldn’t be topped from last episode but it was!!Ā 11/10 epsiode
Last few weeks might be DB has ever looked in animated form period. This episode has the best Kamehameha of the franchise imo and the fact that a version of Super Saiyan 4 did it makes it even better for me
Dragon Ball Daima was a really fun series. I wish it lasted a little more but it was Toriyama’s last gift to the fandom and I’ll be forever grateful for that. Haven’t felt this excited and happy watching modern DB in a LOOOOONG time. Gonna catch up on the dub now!
it’s good to have a series that just does what it wants to do and doesn’t care about adhering to a specific narrow timeline
also
I am fucking VINDICATED
Daima pretty much disregards Super outside a few minor references and honestly good lol. Daima being it’s own thing works way better than having to fit into Super’s timelineĀ
The term canon has such a deep chokehold on this fanbase it's honestly ridiculous. It's all fucking canon just in different continuities!!
The original run, Super, GT and Daima are all separate timelines but they’re all canon.
GT has ALWAYS been canon to the Z anime and the sooner people get that the better. Same with the movies. Garlic Jr especiallyĀ
"ITs not CanOn" shut the hell up lol. So many people in this fandom use canon to determine quality when that doesn’t make any sense.Ā
You know the type I mean.Ā
"Well umm actually this is canon so it's better than (insert filler/movie here) that isn’t canon" SHUT UP THATS
NOT HOW IT WORKSSSSSSSS
Like genuinely who fucking cares if it's
CanOn or not? Do you like it? Cool! Don't?
Ignore It!
There's so many people who just handwave away filler, or the original movies, and especially GT because NoN CanOn and put stuff like DBS on a pedestal purely because of that meaningless term. Not to mention DBS has multiple continuities so why are those all canon but the movies/GT/Daima etc isn’t?
People are turning on Daima being canon or not despite Toriyama writing it. Why does everything have to fit into DBS?
The Z movies did whatever and they were fun because of it
Also love how certain fans move the goal posts with things
First it was made by Toriyama = canon
But now since Daima contradicts Super, Daima is supposedly not canon?? GT fits almost perfectly after Z and that's not canon either in their eyes because Toriyama didn’t do it
So which is it?Ā
Made by Toriyama or consistency? Can’t be both. Going by the former, any future DBS arc isn’t canon anymore but you know people will justify that is and then turn around say Bardock the Father of Goku isn’t canon etc etc. and the latter, DB contradicts itself all the time. Z and Super included. I mean we see Gero die like 5 different ways in the anime across Z, fiillee flashbacks, movies and GT flashbacksĀ
Just so tired of this meaningless ā€œcanonā€ debate. It’s fucking absolute nonsense that doesn’t even mean anything in a series that has a whole arc and a whole freaking spinoff series about timelines and fixing shit
Dragon Ball is Dragon Ball. We all have our preferences on what is better or worse or whatever else but this canon vs non canon debate crap needs to end.Ā
Thank you for coming to my ted talkĀ

Dragon Ball Daima 01x17 - Gomah
The episode is titled after Gomah and I assume we're going to see his inexplicably Pride Troopery ass in new form by end of episode but I am way more invested in Goku, Vegeta, and maybe Piccolo finally meeting the Arinsu family, and probably also finally paying off what's been going on with Glorio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perfect introductions. 10/10 on the ominous bad guy reveal scale.
Tumblr media
I feel like there's probably a way we can avoid hostilities here. How about we trade. We have two separate sets of Dragon Balls that are way easier to obtain than these. You let us use your Dragon Balls to become adult-sized again, and then you can use our Dragon Balls to take over Daimakai.
Or, alternatively, I guess....
We could just....
Fuck off.
We came here for Dende. Mission accomplished. There's literally nothing stopping us from going home and either hitting up Namek or waiting for Earth's Dragon Balls to recharge.
Like, the political thing to do here would be to walk away and let Daimakai sort out Daimakai's matters. We didn't come here to sponsor a coup and install a new regime that's more friendly to our way of life. This was a rescue mission. But we are doing that now.
We're in too deep. We're invested in the whole "liberate Daimakai" thing now. The Third Worlders are right behind us and it'd be really awkward to go home now.
Still, I feel like there are diplomatic ways we could resolve this, so how about we sit down and mediate a discussion between you and the Third Worlders to discuss your plans for the nation and whether they're compatible with--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, you have imperial expansionist ambitions.
Never mind, this is our problem again. Diplomacy of the fist, it is.
Tumblr media
Shit, she's done her research. We're suckers for rigidly-structured 1v1 matches. You can take the boy out of the tournament arena but you can't take the tournament sportsmanship out of the boy.
Tumblr media
Go right ahead. We have two backup sets. I cannot stress enough how much we are pursuing your Dragon Balls out of a combination of convenience and hobbyist recreational interest. You have more to lose from them breaking than we do.
It's fine, though. You had Goku at "I want you to fight my champion." No threats required.
Tumblr media
Goku and Vegeta bickering over who gets to fight is the inevitable result of there only being one 1v1 on offer, but Duu in the background chasing a butterfly around with a stick really livens up the scene. XD
I love the Arinsu family.
Tumblr media
I don't know what it is about Kuu but I feel Arinsu stopping him here is a mistake. Obviously she wants Duu to fight Goku. Duu beat the Tamagami and Kuu lost that same fight. Erego, Duu is the stronger fighter.
But I don't know. There's something about Kuu's confidence and eagerness. I can't shake the feeling that if he fought Goku, he might fare better than Duu.
Tumblr media
Duu is really strong, but he's also kind of dimwitted and unlike when he fought Buu, Duu's powerset isn't anything Goku hasn't seen before. Goku's had time to think about how he would fight someone like Buu again and it shows in this fight. He isn't as easily surprised by Duu's fluid dexterity as he was with Buu.
Buu was something straight out of left field, something unlike anything Goku's ever fought before. But Duu is Buu with fewer weird powers.
Tumblr media
Though Duu does still get some good licks in there. And while the fight ends inconclusively due to Gomah's appearance, it does end with Goku admittedly letting himself be baited into a very bad spot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a bad position to let yourself get into with someone who can shoot mouth beams. I'm honestly not sure what Goku's options would have been to get out of this. He can't even teleport because he takes people he's touching with him when he does.
Tumblr media
Really does look like a Pride Trooper uniform and I have no idea what possible connection there could be for why that is.
Still not sure if Gomah's actually supposed to be the final boss. My money was on Duu and Kuu, and a possible Count Duukuu fusion. I was starting to be sold on it being Gomah but we have like three more episodes left after this one. It feels about an episode two early for Super Gomah to show up and start throwing hands if he's supposed to be the ultimate foe.
Goku and Duu didn't even get to settle their fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alternate Ending: Goku punches Gomah one time. It can even be a reference to the Recoome gut punch. Gomah goes down immediately.
Neva then explains, "Specifically, political power. It confers tremendous authority and a commanding physique upon the wearer but does not enhance their strength in the slightest."
Tumblr media
Okay, the fact that he makes his own final boss arena does lend some credibility to the idea that this really is the ultimate showdown.
Tumblr media
Oh, wow, he's huge. I knew he was like a big tall manly man now but I hadn't realized we were talking colossal-sized until right this moment. It's hard to tell when all you have to scale him to are background objects that are similarly ambiguous in size.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HE'S STILL A DOOF THOUGH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Gomah suddenly realizing that his goddamn castle is becoming the collateral damage to this fight is not only a great comedic element to add to it but also actually pays off the Discount Ginyu Force's introduction. That little gag where they shot up his foyer and left him pissed off was the setup for this.
Gomah has the distinct quality of having strong opinions about the collateral damage of a huge, explosive Dragon Ball fight. We haven't seen that before. It's neat.
Tumblr media
It's surprising to me that we've met Dr. Arinsu, we were partway through the confrontation with her, and Glorio still hasn't pulled the pin on his role as her spy one way or the other.
Whether that way is betraying them to Arinsu or refusing to betray them to Arinsu 'cause of Power of Friendship or revealing a true motive that he was playing Arinsu all along too or what.
Whatever the payoff for Glorio is, that cat is still firmly tucked in the bag. This is another thing that makes me question whether Gomah is really supposed to be the final boss or not. It feels like there's too much that hasn't happened yet for this just to be "And then we beat Gomah and go home."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, checks out. Goku rarely rejects people's assistance. When, say, Piccolo jumped in to help him against Raditz and Frieza, Goku didn't send him away and insist on fighting alone. But it's not his first instinct.
The one time Goku's been like "Let's do this together" was with Super Buu, and it was a decision he later recanted. Goku can be backed into a corner hard enough that he agrees to teamwork, but he's never the one to say, "Let's fight this guy as a team" even when the universe is on the line.
...
That said, I'm not sure that drawing attention to how OOC this moment is for Goku makes it better. The only explanation on offer for why Goku would go back on his principles is because "The situation is just that dire."
But the situation's been pretty fucking dire before. Majin Buu was going to annihilate everything in existence, and Goku broke the Potara anyway because it made him feel underhanded.
But I think they're trying to bridge the gap between the manga and Super, where Goku is shown to be a lot more comfortable fighting side-by-side with others against a powerful foe - though he still likes to try going 1v1 first.
Tumblr media
Drawing careful attention to the satchel with the bugs in it as it falls from Goku's dogi.
This has to be building up to the Fusion Bug finally coming into play.
Tumblr media
Thank you, Bulma.
Dr. Arinsu, you are literally trying to take his throne. You are holding in your hand the evidence of your treachery. You really think you aren't a part of this?
Tumblr media
Ooooo and we're paying off Neva's ability to power up the Tamagamis into a Super Mode, established in Vegeta's fight.
I was wondering what the deal with that was, since this Tamagami's fight already happened by the time we got here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, it was a pretty cool fight up until this moment, but ending on yet another eleventh-hour climactic unlocking of a Super Form Goku already had from the beginning is where it loses me.
Like. The characters stopped to briefly discuss that this situation is so desperate it's pushing Goku to behave out-of-character. He's calling on everyone to combine powers against Gomah because that is how far on the edge of his rope he's hanging. He's violating his own principles purely out of desperation because there are no other options left.
I can forgive Goku holding Super Saiyan 3 back. It's a bad transformation. A form that bleeds ki so tremendously that it's impossible for it to even achieve its own theoretical maximum power. To date, Vegeta just a few episodes ago is the only person ever to actually win a fight with it. It's a power boost whose drawbacks suck so hard that they outweigh the power boost.
So Goku keeping this in his back pocket and only pulling it out in a moment of pure desperation? Yeah. I can believe that.
...but if we're going to make a thing out of Goku betraying his principles from desperation? I... have to believe Goku would try Super Saiyan 3 first.
I can believe he'd only use Super Saiyan 3 as a last resort, but I still feel like he'd use his last resorts up before he'd do anything that makes the other characters go "Goku would NEVER. He must be TRULY desperate like he's never been before." Apparently not if he's still holding back and only giving half-effort.
...
Speaking of last resorts, this is going to end in a Daimakai Genki-Dama, isn't it?

Winter 2025 Anime Round-Up
I always get so lazy when it comes to doing things. You'd think I'd be used to it by now...My Happy Marriage still has two episodes left but I'm not going to wait for them (I'm barely paying attention to that story to begin with). Also decided to change the formatting a bit cause looking back at my older round ups is killing my brain.
Anime of the Season: Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
Best Opening: Kaijuu (Orb: On the Movements of the Earth)
Best Ending: NOX LUX (Re:ZERO Season 3) & Georgette Me, Georgette You (Bang Dream: Ave Mujica)
Drops: Zenshu
Plans to Watch at a later date: N/A
Completed:
Tumblr media
Dragon Ball DAIMA - (7-10)
Not gonna indulge in this series too much out of respect for it being the last work that Toriyama will ever write for this franchise. I had my issues but it was, through and through, everything I loved about Dragon Ball growing up as a kid. Thanks for everything, Toriyama
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Danmachi Season 5 - (7-10)
The long break between episodes killed this rating from being higher. Nevertheless, Danmachi is still very enjoyable and one of the best in the fantasy light novel genre. (Not a high bar but still worth noting)
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Orb: On the Movements of the Earth - (10/10)
When I try and write down what makes this show so unique. I can't help but feel like I'm downplaying it immensely. I could never predict what happened in this show and that the experience all the better. All the characters made such a long lasting impact that left some of the best introspective experience I've had in television, not just anime. You'll probably never find another anime like this, and for good reason.
Was very tempted to remove a point for the night scenes being too damn dark but I couldn't
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Sakamoto Days - (7/10)
This show didn't really do anything special for me, outside of being a show with an adult cast. But I do appreciate how silly it was and how much fun the characters were when we weren't supposed to take them seriously. Can't wait for Season Two
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga - (8/10)
VOLN redemption? In the 2025? Not the craziest thing to happen this year. As I mentioned previously, this season was a massive step up in quality from the previous two. Maybe the smaller cast and more contained story worked in it's benefit, but I was very impressed.
Fuck Aniplex tho
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Re:ZERO Season 3 - (8.5/10)
The most passionate anime team continues their 9 year run of making this source material as enjoyable as it can be. Even with all the staff shuffles, Re Zero managed to handle all the action spectacles with lots of deft and creativity. Don't know what else to say, Re:zero still good y'all.
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Bang Dream: Ave Mujica - The Die is Cast - (8.5/10)
The show gave me brain damage, but it also blew me away in what you can accomplish with a passionate team of writers and directors. I hope the industry can learn from this show in just how creative and bold you can be when you have absolute free reign (and kinda unhinged).
I need to be checked into an asylum.
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Blue Box - (7/10)
A good show that I got bored of quickly when I realized best girl wasn't going to win.
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Solo Leveling: Season 2 - Arise from the Shadow - (8/10)
Still blown away at how much I love this shit. Absolutely stupid but also incredibly shameless in how much fun it is. Coupled that with an anime studio that went well above and beyond in presentation; Solo Leveling continues to be pretty damn great
-----------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Medalist - (8/10)
ENGI redemption arc is insane 😭
Actual peak sports anime. All the praise and success that this manga had is absolutely deserved. Inspirational story bout never being too late to accomplish your dreams and the important relationships between mentors and students. S2 gonna be so good

My Happy Marriage S2 - (6.5/10)
Still pretty much the same as S1. which I enjoyed, so no reason why I wouldn't enjoy more of it. The current arc that it's in is boring me to death, but I love seeing these two fall more and more in love with each episode. I'm hoping the last two episodes can stick the landing, but that score will most likely remain the same.

Anime I've Seen in 2024 (New and Old)
New
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training arc - 5/10: Too short and over too quickly, really wished they could’ve added more.
My Hero Academia season 7 - 6/10: Tiring at this point, I actually don't care anymore.
Date a Live V - 7/10: It didn't shocked me like everyone else, I've seen heavier shit then this. Still, it's an appropriate finale. I've heard there's like two light novels left in the series. Maybe one day for season 6.
Sand Land - 7/10: The main story is fantastic and a great stand alone series. The second arc is okay. It's good but completely unnecessary.
Bocchi the Rock! movie - 8/10: Cramming a whole season into a two part movie is surprisingly good. Saw it in theaters and I had a good time. So... when season 2?
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Conflict - 8/10: So far, it's still great. It's very intense.
Dragon Ball Daima - 8/10: Great story, great characters, great world building, and great animation. The pacing though... cocktease.
Old
Dragon Ball - 10/10: Revisited as myself paying tribute to the late Akira Toriyama, who pass away this year. This series is still amazing and charming. Please watch it and ignore the fandom who hated it for no reason. Your life will change forever.
Dragon Ball Z - 9/10: This was the first time I watched it in the original Japanese version. A completely different experience. I had a ton of fun going through the whole thing again.
Lucky Star - 7/10: At first, I really love how these girls just sit around and talk endlessly. But then... it kept going. Then it got super annoying. And then it got to be not fun anymore. By the time I got to ep. 12, I remember saying to myself," WE GOT 12 MORE EPISODES OF THIS SHIT?" The ending was cringing, I'm sorry, I did not like it. I give it some time and... it wasn't that bad in retrospect, I was just not in the right mood. I'll give it another chance one day.
K-ON! - 10/10: I read the manga a year ago and I greatly enjoy it, so I was looking forward for the adaptation. Unfortunately, an unexpected moment occurred in my life that made me delayed my binge watch. Once I felt better, I finally watched it and... it was what I desperately want: comfort. The characters were great, the music is pretty catchy, and the overall experience was enjoyable. When it was over, I felt sad, sad that it was over. But it did heal my soul.
The Melancholy of Haruchi Suzumiya - 4/10: Surprised I didn't receive hate mail from my opinion of this anime. Why did I really hated it? Haruchi Suzumiya herself. Fuck! That! BITCH! I hated everything about her, she gave me flasbacks to Asuka from Evangalion, who is also GODAWFUL! This anime reminded me why I hated tsunderes, I never felt so much anger in my life. If there's any silver lining, it gave me Yuki Nagato, and Mikuru Asahina is cute. I know there's a movie, but I refuse to watch it.
The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan - 7/10: I got nothing to say about this spin-off, but I like this better then the main one.
Berserk (1997) - 8/10: Finally started watching this classic and, wow, this was not what I expect it to be. I was really into the story and the battle scenes were gory. The ending? Still haven’t recover from that dramatic experience.
Hidamari Sketch - 10/10: You know why I started watching this? I watch the second presidential debate, and it was a total shit show. To get away from politics, I put this on, not expecting what I was going to get. And what did I get? Possibly one of the cutest, comforting, fun shows I've seen in awhile. The girls were great, the animation was abstract, and it was pretty relaxing. I was a bit bother by the ecchi scenes, glad Madoka didn't had that treatment. By the end, you feel like you made friends with them. Or better yet, you became family with them. This is another show that heal my soul.
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid - 8/10: This one has been on my watch list for awhile, but I'm glad I saw it. Another relaxing show that just happens to have plenty of scenes that goes TOO HARD! Like whole, was not expecting them to throw at me. Everything else is great too.
Yuru Yuri - 8/10: I thought I wasn't going to like this because of how mean spirited it can be. But... not only was this shit funny, but it's also heartwarming. This was a lot a fun.
What to expect next year?

Note
3, 10, 15, 20, 24, 25 for the Dragon Ball ask game! <3
3. List your top five favorite characters in order of how much you like them.
This would've been so much easier to answer when I was younger asjdla I'm old now and have more of an appreciation of character writing and roles in a story and I find Toriyama's character writing so charming... I love Vegeta the most but I like Piccolo the most you know what I mean?? Okay I'm gonna try, let me. Okay. Vegeta and Piccolo and Bulma, obviously, Gohan and Trunks probably after that? Yeah. Probably. My emotional support supporting cast.
10. The Dragon Ball series isn’t exactly known for being consistent with its story, its characters, and various other things. Which inconsistency irritates you the most?
I think the thing I'm probably most known for in this fandom now is screaming about how Toei and Toriyama wrote two completely different series' with two completely different casts while sharing the same basic plot. It does genuinely upset me that the former is the version that's most accessible, just because the latter is so, so good. I'm very grateful he decided to do the movies he did and overhaul Daima before he passed, and I'm so happy to see that Yuko and Toya seem to have learned a lot from his tone and humor and adventure writing skills to continue playing in the world he left behind with the full heart for that kind of story that he had.
15. Do you have any favorite ships (canon or otherwise)?
I like all of the canon ships! I also like the TienxYamcha QPP and the TienxYamchaxLaunch reverse Three's Company sitcom situation in which they're both into Tien but Tien's aroace, I think Satan and Buu are cute regardless of where on the spectrum their relationship falls, I like Trunten, I like CauliKale, I like the various Beerus ship dynamics I've seen with Whis and Kai, I think Cheelai should meet Launch,
20. If you could hang out with one character, who would it be?
Ooo~! I think--!! I'd love to hang out with Gohan, but also I feel like my adhd would kick in while he's explaining bugs and I'd feel bad, plus he's always swamped. I think Hercule would be super interesting to talk to if he could turn off for a while a be a person. I also think hanging out with Whis for a day could be a pretty safe and interesting day. Mmbbuuuut I think I'd have to give it to Dr Brief, because I want to hang out with him in his giant animal sanctuary full of dinosaurs and god knows whats.
24. If you could write your own episode, what would it be about?
I think I'd write a flashback episode just kind of about what it's like inside the Freeza Force. I'm really fascinated by the hyper-capitalism/imperialism critique there and the self-sustaining economies of a Freeza planet Metropoles that Freeza will build and then get bored with and abandon, and doing a character-driven snapshot of the entire political system within just Freeza's empire would be super fascinating to me. I think I'd write it from Lemo's perspective, at different points of his life. He was there for so long, you'd probably get to do a lot of cameos of people who worked for Freeza even before Vegeta was born. And he was kitchen staff, so it wouldn't be a big high-octane thing but he could still bear witness to fights, which would satisfy the action element of the show too.
25. What would you wish for with the dragon balls?
I'd wish for every conservative politician in the world to wake up with everything exactly the same except their body is the opposite sex and nobody else knows they were different before. After 120 days, the ones who want to go back to their original bodies will be allowed to and the ones who are happy with their new body can keep it. Call it an empathy exercise.

DAIMA EP 12 (Spoiler) Review/theories
• Vegeta doubters going radio silent & Vegeta glazers getting louder.
• Interesting development, right? I like that Vegeta's (now) official ssj3 hair doesn't just flop against his back like it does in Raging Blast & Super DB Heroes. The hair clumps point out & straight back like holding a pinecone sideways. (Good stuff, Toriyama)
• Funny how Vegeta used the excuse of not being used to his child body, then almost immediately goes ssj2 in the Kraken 's mouth, then is the first between he & Goku to go ssj3.
• Guess Neva wanted to be extra sure that Vegeta & Goku, at the very least, are strong enough to take down King Gohma & his forces. Or he really, REALLY likes messing with people, as I stated in my previous review.
• Cool blue glow on the powered up Tamagami. The magic effects around Neva's hands were cool too.
• I'm gonna be honest. Tamagami #1 &#2's "Final Challenges", while amusing as a viewer, would make me have a meltdown if I were an actual Dragon Ball character.
• Majin Kuu, you're so smart & helpful! And humble, too!
• Majin Duu, you're so... Congrats on the win!
• Panzy, honey, you should know it's not "magic" by now. Talk to Piccolo or something...
• Degesu seemed to react to Dr Arinsu getting a D ball like he & she had originally planned to obtain them together in some other way in secret, but now she's just going for it, with her 2 new sons, Out Of Nowhere. (He even tries making excuses for her) So now he has to pretend to be worried for the same reasons King Gohma's worried, while also pretending to be intimidated by King Gohma.
• There were snakes on planet Vegeta, who canonically don't eat biscuits & are probably way tougher/bigger than Earth snakes, given that they evolved under 10 times the gravity the gravity of our Earth snakes.
• Vegeta went from eating bug people on screen (like in his debut) to "Ew! Bugs! Yucky!" Bulma domesticated the F outta him.
• The kraken actually yawning in response to a Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta blasting his way out of it's mouth not only validates what Goku said previously about not being able to beat one, in general, not even just because of the child body situation, makes the Demon Realm krakens, in my book, the deadliest wild animals in the DB multiverse so far.
• Neva's kookie old man chuckles are cute.
• I love the cute way Panzy shouts "Yay!" upon Vegeta passing the final challenge. Super Duper cute.
• I forgot to mention this, but it would appear that Hybis had his collar removed sometime before the events of episode 11, like, off screen. Weird that we didn't get to see that...
• What's your next move, King Gohma? Gonna show off all that destructive magic power everyone's been hyping up? Hope so.
• A plane DIDN'T break down this episode. We must be in the endgame now.

Watching episode 10 of Dragon Ball Daima, and I love how Vegeta reacted when the demon said to Bulma "I can make you my girlfriend." Vegeta looked like he was ready to throw down. Love how much their relationship has progressed. He went from not giving a flying fuck if she died to getting angry the minute another guy shows any sort of romantic interest in her, and getting beyond pissed off if someone hurts her, like Beerus did.

Dragon Ball Daima episode 10:
This episode was packed.
Since we saw Kuu face off against Tamagami #1 in this episode and #2 is in the next episode preview fighting Vegeta, it feels like we're suddenly moving at superspeed.
Aside from this "escalation", we see the "oldest" Planet Namek, which is neat.
Then we learn the Glinds are on course to die off because the trees they're born from are gone, which has some strong implications for a bunch of stuff we learned in Super.
And then to top that off, we now suddenly have another origin story for the universe via an old Demon King who orded "Rymus" to create the entire universe.
Before this fairly massive, but brief lore dump, we still have room for some neat action scenes with the Krakens and Kuu.
The scenes with the Krakens in particular had some really stand-out animation, but some of the scenes of Kuu vs. Tamagami #1 were pretty solid, as well.
As derivative as Kuu is (almost to the point of parody), I love how he has ended up similarly "cheap" in terms of personality.
He's a cowardly version of Buu, who eventually just retreats because he simply can't defeat Tamagami #1 and I love how Arinsu doesn't automatically do the "you've outlived your usefulness" spiel and is instead just stuck with a servant just wanting to be useful.
Leaning into the humor of the derision is so much fun because the Saibamen are dirty, but fairly "weak" fighters at the point of time where this story takes place, so it all just "makes sense".
They somehow managed to make Majin Kuu fun when I never expected them to, which is a little wild.
Finally, I once again want to point out all of the Vegeta bullying, which just never fails to make me smile. Some take it super seriously, but I think it's a blast. His hyper-serious attitude just lends itself so well to that kind of teasing.
So, once again, this was a really fun episode. Last few episodes (with the exception of ep. 8) had some pacing hiccups, but now we're back on track (in fact, it might've gone a little too much in the opposite direction, being "too fast").
