Sorry I took so long to answer this, I actually had to think about this for a couple days to really have a good answer. I hope y'all don't mind a long post because I want to explain my picks a little. I'll include links to the shiny in the list under the cut

5 favorite shinies:

Growlithe/Arcanine: This has been my favorite shiny since Gen 3 made their shiny not awful, and I finally got one in 19 eggs in SV! It's also one of my favorite pokemon.

Mimikyu: This might be unpopular and maybe (second) favorite pokemon bias, but adore the grey-scale of this shiny. I feel like it emulates the feel of the Gen 1 sprites, and it would make sense that Mimikyu, which wanted to be loved like Pikachu, would model itself after the original way it looked.

Umbreon: This might shock some people, because Sylveon is my favorite pokemon, but this is my favorite shiny Eeveelution. It just looks so cool! The blue stripes replacing the yellow is just so good. It just communicates cool Moon-inspired pokemon to me.

Rockruff: Another of my favorite pokemon that has an amazing shiny. It's a blue puppy! What's not to love? The shade of blue is also fantastic, just super cute. (can you tell I like blue shinies)

Gourgeist: We love a goth queen, tbh.

Honorable mentions: Mareep, Kantonian Ninetails, Galarian Zigzagoon-line (trans rights), Toucannon (bi rights), Sylveon (I only slightly prefer the original, still amazing), Sandygeist, Unovan Zorua, the Tapus

5 better than the original:

Wooloo: the reversed black and white just looks so good, I can't do it justice. Just a home run of a shiny.

Crobat: Bias because Zubat was my first shiny ever in Gen 2 (including the red Gyarados, I think). Also I just think it looks cool as hell. I got one in Sun and named her Babs because she looks like Batgirl with the pink and green scheme.

Camerupt: Talk about a major improvement! It's original design is... fine, like volcano camel, got it. The shiny just out shines (no pun intended) it in every way. The black and yellow work so well together, and while it doesn't scream "fire camel" it just looks so good.

Beautifly: Huge upgrade, imo. Looks super artistic, like a stained glass mosaic. Absolutely gorgeous, and it really pops compared to the original. Also, trans rights

Charizard: Wee-woo Genwunner alert! I might be biased, because Charmander was my original starter almost 25 years ago and remains one of my favorite Pokemon to this day. I still remember my original Charizard (MZ, no idea why I named it that I was 7), and when I saw it's shiny (in gen 3 when they fixed it) I knew I had to have one because it is just so dang cool.

5 Worse than the original: (excluding the obvious ones that are barely different than the originals)

Absol: I don't hate this shiny or anything, I just think the original Absol is a near perfect design. It does a great job of looking foreboding and kinda ominous, but the shiny doesn't quite do that.

Volcarona: It just feels like the colors on this shiny were picked randomly and both don't go together and look bad on this design. Serious downgrade all around, more negative points because I really like Volcarona

Primarina: This is one of my 5 favorite pokemon of all time, but this shiny makes me almost want to cry. I understand changing the "hair" from blue to blonde to try to like imitate the look of a traditional mermaid, but the change to the rest of the accents to that like pale yellow(?) is just bad. Primarina was a near perfect design, but the shiny is bad.

Snubbull: You would think I would like this because of the blue dominance on a dog pokemon, but it's just ugly to me. The Pink and blue-spot combo works for me on the original, but the reverse hurts my eyes. ALSO WHY ARE THE FEET ORANGE?!

Bruxish: One of my least favorite pokemon and just a terrible shiny. Colors feel totally random.

Warning! Rant and spoilers ahead (kind of)

If the leaks I’m looking at are real...then I’m a bit confused as to why this is a thing...I’m referring to the pictures of Kalorex on whatever those two are called again...like seriously....my brain refuses to understand this...

I guess it makes sense? But it’s not what I was expecting. A deer riding horses...? Last thing I expected in fact I wasn’t expecting that at all. I was thinking we were gonna do something similar Kyruem. Like parts of a whole that can never be together again?

Also...the shiny for our eletric regi? Is...is those parts the actual Pokémon and the rest is just electricity therefore does not change color when a shiny? I have so many questions....

But if we’re correct only 80ish Pokémon have been confirmed confirmed. (Yes I put that twice but only to put emphasis on it)

Still a bit peeved there’s still no eeveelution...but I guess the Pokémon company has its reasons (even though many of us are tired of waiting)

The horses...just...okay I guess? Not overly impressed with the white one. Normally when people think of pure white horses we think of something magestic, elegant, breath taking, powerful, etc...this thing? I feel like it’s a newborn pony based off its mane and tail...

Love the creepy vibes from the dark horse but if my theory is right and Kalorex is suppose to be some form of royalty...? Then please show me the way out. I have old English blood in me, my dad would sometimes tell me old English stories. If the horse is suppose to be evil the design makes sense but if we look back at the anime back to when I was just a tiny thing....Jessie and James’ Pokémon said “there no such thing as an evil Pokémon”. Therefore that only destroys that thought process. So the design doesn’t make much sense. As far as I’ve been told black horses weren’t really smiled upon in the olden ages. They were like a raven or a crow in their eyes. So I’m bit peeved I guess? The design bothers me without an explanation and I hope it’s a good one otherwise I’m gonna throw myself out a window.

Legendary birds are cool looking. Would have preferred if the signature moves stuck to a theme together. Like Zapdos and Moltres also caused status problems. Or articuno’s and Moltres’ lowered a stat...they were suppose to have born from one pokemon. So why not further show they are siblings? Articuno’s galarian form’s way of travel would make it hard for understand its flying...so if it lost its bird like features or someone wasn’t that crazy into the lore or not paying attention, this could have helped. Then again I’m sure the company has its reasons.

Slowking has some serious lashes on its shell...like dang...are those fake...? Also how the heck is it not flipping out over half it’s head being swallowed by a Pokémon that “bites” down?! Wouldn’t that cause headaches, discomfort, blindness, and/or crushing of the skull?! At least Slowbro and Johtonian Slowking dont have to worry about dying! Slowbros make sense kind of. Lost a limb to a parasite? Use it as your new limb! Tail’s gone (kind of?)? Don’t worry about it. Our normal Slowking only has the top of its head gone. So the most real damage would be difficultly hearing or hearing loss. Cause if you try to palm someone’s head and try and crush it like that, it won’t do much. So that Slowking is revelitvely fine....I think. (I’m not an expert in biology and this is just me ranting so don’t get gun hoe on me.)

So since last time, I earned my eighth and final badge and so I can compete in the Challenger’s Cup.

We end up at the monorail station with more of Oleana’s hired goons blocking our path. This looks like a job for Piers!

I just love how he pulls out a microphone out of literally nowhere and starts singing in the middle of the station.

I have to admit, I expected more from Chairman Rose and the Marco Cosmos group in this game. I don’t know if I’m alone in this, but it feels a little light compared to a lot of the other bad teams in the past, and that includes Team Skull and Aether Foundation.

So after I kicked the chairman’s ass in a battle, we came across this hammy dumbass doing something stupid.

He tried to catch a mythical beast in a regular pokeball.

This. This is what happens when you try to do that.

Plus, you’re up against Satan’s tapeworm here.

Now we gotta take care of this demonic fucker and I can’t even use an attack on it.

Let’s Talk About Pokemon - The Water Type

And isn't it just like the polar opposite of Fire to have the an outlandish amount of Pokemon. Indeedly, the Water type is the most populated type in the game at a whopping 140. You could have an entire generation of Water types alone, for Pete's sake! Not like that's a bad thing of course. After all, an overwhelming majority of life forms on our very own planet are aquatic. It only makes sense Water type has some pretty huge numbers like this!

However, it becomes hard to talk about the type when its theme is so dang broad. If something swims or lives near water, it's probably Water type. That's just about the only criteria there is for it. As such, the type rarely gets any fun twists to it. If anything, it's a surprise when something like Stunfisk or Dhelmise look like swimming creatures but aren't Water type!

I've not really got any qualms with Water's type advantage logic either. It's weak to Grass, Electric, and resists Fire, Steel, Ice, and itself. I GUESS you could argue an Ice element being weak to or strong against a water element is interchangeable. And offensively, it's good against, Fire, Ground, and Rock. All of which are fairly common offensive types, making Water a really good type to have in general. Trust me, you feel absolutely naked if you don't have one handy.

Top 10 Favorite Water Types:

Not as hard as you'd think with how many there are to pick, honestly. I did really struggle with coming up with my Top 10 Grass list. Here? Yeah, I got that good handful of faves and runner-ups. Nothing too surprising!

Bottom 10 Least Favorite Water Types:

(Sorry monkey fans). This one was a bit more tough though because there's a lot to like. So there just hits a point where you're checking off the more mundane looking ones.

For those that would call me out for not putting Wishiwashi in the “Coolest” category, it honestly strikes me as more pretty looking in the sense of seeing a cloud of a shimmering school of fish looks kinda pretty. All those glowing eyes...!

Weirdest/Most Unique:

Most Inventive Use of the Type:

Yeah, I really had to stretch for this one, since the type is almost entirely consisted of animals that live in water. No big shockers there. Rotom manages to get away simply by not being a water creature, and Araquanid's a fun reverse-diving-spider by being a spider that dwells in water and gives itself a water bubble to breath on land. Everybody else is kinda just... fairly creative uses of aquatic animals? And Vaporeon because a Water Eeveelution very easily could've been an otter-type creature but they just turned it into a fish-dog.

WATER TYPE WISHLIST:

NOTE: These Type Wishlists were written out before any news on new Pokemon from Sword and Shield. The Pokemon revealed over time will not affect these wishlists. Just to present them unaltered despite spoilers and in the interest of getting the wishlist out there, and to see which items on said wishlists get fulfilled by Sword and Shield!

An Angler Fish But Like For Real This Time:

Lanturn is still such a letdown. Let me have me terrifying angler-hellmouth already!!

A Stingray:

We already have a manta, and I'd like to see a better manta than Mantine admittedly, but I'd be down for a stingray as well. Stingrays are so neat and would be really flexible for multiple design ideas!

A Hydra:

Not quite a mythical Hydra, but arguably just as impressive. This odd little creature is one that really caught my eye out of a biology textbook of all things. These tiny lil things are poisonous monsters that look unassuming on the surface, but have a few neat little tidbits about them. Namely, they technically don't have mouths, and yet they must eat. How do they do so? By literally tearing themselves open to swallow prey, sometimes prey that's even bigger than the hydra itself. They even reproduce by growing an extra hydra off of its stalk which eventually breaks off. AND they seem to be immortal, never technically aging. You could even have these things be unorthodox little Water/Dragon types!

A Swordfish:

I know there's Tapu Fini, but I'd still like to see a proper swordfish 'mon. Rather predictable would be a swordfish that would have a literal sword for a nose, but I think it'd be neater to have a swordfish that instead has a harpoon for a nose!

A Narwhal:

I'm not too picky on how exactly, I'm just surprised we haven't gotten one of these yet. Almost as surprised as us not having...

A Dolphin:

...Even with how requested it is, I can't say I can blame Gamefreak for drawing a blank for this long. I've tried for the longest time to make my own dolphin Fakemon, but never could come up with anything. They're hard animals to work with! I just hope they properly convey their personalities as gigantic assholes of the sea. Dolphins really bully all sorts of animals out there. They hunt in packs and circle around schools of fish, taking turns diving in to eat while the fish rather helplessly swim in confusion. These things even beat up SHARKS for their lunch money!

A Mantis Shrimp:

I wasn't sure whether to put this here or save it for the Bug type. But god I'm probably gonna come up with SO many for Bug type, let's shorten it by one. The Mantis Shrimp is easily one of my favorite invertebrates, let alone animals in general out there. These things are just so badass how could you NOT want one in. Ideally I'd love to get one that's Bug/Water, but given its punching thing I'd suspect it'd get paired with the Fighting type anyway.

Eeveelutions and Fakemon asks

The completionist and Eeveelution-lover in me would really love to have a 'full set' of all the types, but that's so many evolutions, I kind of doubt we'll get there? But I think the more generations we get, and the more Eeveelutions are added, the more likely it becomes we'll get them all. I'd love to at least get a dragon-type to complete (what used to be) the “special attack types”, and maybe a normal-type evolution as well. The others would be a great bonus!

I’m in a little better position with the dual types, since I’m only doing the types of existing Eeveelutions, and I’m not worried about doing reverse type combinations (for example, after doing Fire/Dark, I’m not planning on doing Dark/Fire; though I’m leaving those open for some redos), so I only have 10 combinations left:

Fire/Fairy, Fire/Water, Ice/Fairy, Ice/Psychic, Ice/Dark, Ice/Electric, Water/Electric, Electric/Dark, Electric/Fairy, Electric/Psychic (though not necessarily with that order of primary/secondary typing).

Thank you! But I’m not sure what you mean by Fakemon single-type versions. Do you mean single-type Eeveelutions of types we haven’t gotten yet? I don’t have firm plans to do those at this point.

The dual type Eeveelutions and Lickitung alternate evo are my own Fakemon, but I haven’t brainstormed a lot of Fakemon in the past, so I don’t have any plans for other Fakemon right now. If I was particularly inspired I might make some more, but I’ve been pretty tight on time, so it wouldn’t be a priority. I did have a Ghost/Water Fakemon I sketched up years ago that I’m still fond of, so maybe I’ll get to that some day.

Kanto is def my favorite region, first generation pokemon ftw!I really like their designs, but it’s probably just because it’s the gen I grew up with, the one that started it all.

My favorite Pokémon has always been Gengar, followed by Eevee! As for my favorite Eeveelution, if we count all of them, I’d have to go with 🍃Leafeon🍃 but if we are talking about the Kanto only evolutions then it was 💧Vaporeon💧 (dang, I wanna draw them all now…) but to be honest I love them all so much!

And lol! I also use the Vita for Otome games xD Though I play others too! Like the Persona series! (Omg! They’re so good! Persona 4 is one of my favorite games ever! Highly recommend!) J-Stars Victory VS, Toukiden, Ragnarok Odyssey, Soul Sacrifice and Muramasa Rebirth are a few of them…

Otome games, lets see…. there was Hakuoki (Edo Blossoms & Kyoto Winds), Norn 9 ( never got to finish them all), Amnesia….Hmm, I’m sure there’s one or two more, not sure.

Ok! I asked,I anwser:I love Sylveon, Vaporeon and Leafeon , cause ,Dude, that FAIRY FOX (I adore fairies and foxies), Mermaid fox and Flower fox. They have fantastic designs . As for other question- new elements. You mean new eeveelutions with other types? Well i wanna see dragon one , flying one and normal one ( like ultimate eevee, primal eevee)

Dragon type: Heck yes. I wonder if gamefreak would put wings on it or not? Whether or not it has wings, we will all love and adore it I’m sure.

Flying type: You are now my best friend. For those who don’t know, I’m a huge bird and/or flying type lover. I literally have TWO Pokémon teams with bird based and/or flying type. All them. For years I have dreamed of flying eevee. If that comes out, I’m immediately adding it to my team.

Normal Eevee: I’m fifty-fifty on it. Some days I’m all in, other days I just look at it the idea for five seconds before walking away. My brain has no middle ground for this idea. So depending on my days, it’s either all the love or I just others enjoy the thought as my brain tries to comprehend...lord help me with this idea...
